Rose & Crown Inn in Stroud

Had booked a table for 6 people for Saturday 4th March. Had confirmation email when booked as I queried the nenue option for gluten free items. We arrived just before the time our table was booked for only to find the place in darkness. It was closed. When I rang the number the call was immediately cut off. We had to go to sainsbury's for a curry. Not impressed and so disappointed. If this place ever opens again, avoid it.

cute on the outside; OK on the inside, though chilly (heating off ?) ignored by waitress as she walked by table at least 10 times. .. others were getting up to find staff as well, to ask to be served/take and order/search out their order … wrong orders arriving at tables - food and drink people sending beer back as ridiculously cloudy sold out of everything on menu except sausages and pasta truffle pasta dish was basically pasta and peas, with a bit of cheese and some cabbage on top - guess out of truffle as well. bill showed different things on it to what arrived at table absolute shambles ….

Stopped by after a walk at Woodchester with our dog and 10 month old. They accommodated us even though they were busy and needed our table back reasonably quickly. Friendly and efficient service and absolutely gorgeous food. My partner had a delicious duck dish and I ate fish and chips which was a generous portion but not too much! Would highly recommend and hope to visit again x

Had lunch today at the Rose and Crown, was greated by lovely friendly staff, very welcoming and showed us to the table. Fantastic starters and main. We had the steak, which my daughter loved. I had the pie, it was delicious. The staff were so kind and made us feel so welcomed. Would highly recommend this country pub and we will definitely go back to try more of the menu.

We ate in the bar are which was a nice cosy atmosphere although a little cold. Drinks selection was ok and service was very pleasant and friendly. The food was fantastic, the fish cake is to die for and the duck looked and tasted incredible. Will try to get back soon

We had a lovely meal just before Christmas followed by a new year meal last week, however its missing its main man Ross, Denise is brilliant and all staff friendly but the place needs its fire places sorting ASAP as we have colder weather coming in and little heaters dotted around are not enough or inviting, also the toilets for the ladies only has one working and that has a broken window. All in all not the warm inviting place it was last year and the year before. Please put it right NOW.

On arrival we were seated. After 5 minutes the land lady asked if we were ready to order..'sorry, not yet', then 2 minutes later. She asked if we could essentially get a move on as she had lots of tables in later..'of course ' we said. There only turned out to be 3 tables in after that. The food was verrry overpriced..pie of the day consisted of burnt Pastry , lots of Carrots and 2 bits of meat, accompanied by nice cabbage and lumpy mash. It cost £16.50 I believe. Then at 8:30 we were told it was last orders!!!

Went for Christmas drinks, on arrival was told all the tables were booked but all the tables were empty while we were there? The place was freezing no heating apparently it was broken. We were told to go to a back room which was described as a lounge but didn't seat us all and no effort was made to get more seats. Very disappointed indeed, we made an effort to dress up but remained in our coats keen to get home to warm up. Will not return. Staff were also very unfriendly.

Had a lovely weekend at the rose and crown, beautiful country pub, room was spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed. Food was outstanding!! Staff were friendly and welcoming. Denise is a trooper and a super hard worker, always there when we needed something. Can’t wait to come back!!

The wife and I decided to have dinner here, the front bar area was fairly busy and while there were tables available and after enquiring about dinner we were left for what seemed like an age standing in the middle of the room. We were eventually shown to a table out the back in a corner on our own where the atmosphere was non existent. When at the table we were asked what we wanted to drink I asked what do you have on tap? The response was well what do you want, to which we both ended up going around the pub to the other side to see what they had. The menus were given to us and I couldn't get over the 8.95 for a scotch egg and tomato sauce! The food we did order was tasty although over priced. After we had finished eating we told the lady we would go around and have a drink at the bar where the atmosphere seemed to be, only to be told no you can't sorry its full !! We decided to leave only to notice the empty bar and tables in the bar area still empty, presumably because they were laid up fo 4 people and not 2. Overall ... highly priced for mediocre food with bad customer service.

We were taken straight to our table without having time for a drink in the bar. The 2 ladies working front of house were really good. Unfortunately the food was not great, very ordinary. The sting came when we massively overcharged for our wine, over 400% mark up on the price in Majestic Wines. The place badly needs a makeover and the very large vases of gaudy plastic flowers need to go. We will not be returning.

Can’t rate our stay highly enough. Lovely food, fairy tale place. The owner is the nicest guy. We couldn’t get a cab so he drove us as a favour! Unbelievable. Will 100% go back. We were so energised when we left.

We booked a table for 8pm Saturday. We were early and thought we may have a drink before sitting down. However we were ushered to our table and asked our drinks order before we were settled. As we were handed the menus a list of unavailable dishes was reeled off by the waitress. At 9.15 we were informed they were closing in 15 minutes as there weren’t any locals in and they had to prepare for the following day. An extremely disappointing meal particularly after it was recommended. Maybe an off day? However we would not recommend.

Was bluntly told they were full upon arriving and having not booked there was nothing they could do as they were expecting some large parties in, we assume later on, as the place was eerily deserted upon our arrival. We were told we were unable to sit in the bar either, and then while my partner waited my return from the restroom, he was asked pointedly if he was okay and what his plans were. After negotiating to have a pint we find a table outside and settle down to make other plans - we chose to sit outside at the interior atmosphere had become quite frosty after we chose to hang around. While seated outside we watched several other parties arrive, announce they hadn’t booked and saw them seated straight away. The only notable difference being that we were dressed for a hike. Would have loved the opportunity to experience the clearly delicious food and beautiful interior, next time we’ll be sure to insist with more conviction that we would like to be patrons or come dressed more appropriately for a “farmhouse kitchen” so as not to be exiled to the garden.

Our friends had booked a cottage nearby and had eaten here a number of times. They took great pleasure in bringing us here The pub has a nice interior and the manager was veer welcoming and pretty funny We shared 2 portions of teh chicken wings - which were OK. The Scotch egg on teh otehr hand was really good and teh Bloody Mary ketchup was excellent For teh mains we chose from the burger, the fish and chips and the pork belly. All were very good, and all the plates were wiped clean We tried teh cheesecake and the sticky toffee pudding - both very good The bar offers some good local beers

We've visited here before and had a great meal but our return visit was really very disappointing. Our friends are vegetarians and the choice for them was dreadful ... Halloumi and Portobello Mushroom burger or a salad! We asked the waiter if there was any...

No hot food available. Management promised a refund and then refused to honour it. We also booked for dinner and were rung the night before to say that although we were able to book online and I got a booking confirmation the restaurant wasn't actually...

A very disappointing Sunday Lunch. Hard and cold roast potatoes, very poor selection of vegatables, watery and tastless gravy. Meat was ok.

Came here for fish and chips as looked great on Facebook page advertising fish Friday. Booked online and the website stated it was half price on Friday every Friday. (Fish and fizz) we didn’t see this on FB but the website does say that. So...

This is the worst experience myself and family have had for a Sunday roast dinner. It was terrible i had one little carrot on my plate with 3 small overcooked what looked like roast potatoes and some cabbage. This pubs prices are way over priced...

Last minute booking for today, the roast has got to be one of the best I've had in a long time, the service was excellent and quick even though it was busy. Will definitely be back. Thanks Dave and Jo.

Nice room but we had no hot water apart from the shower which was disappointing as we specifically booked as it had a bath, very difficult to wash your hands under a shower after the toilet!!! Food was good but expensive.

The best Sunday roast I've ever had out - epic!Absolutely delicious, plentiful portions and no minus points at all. We had the chicken, pork and beef, which were equally as good as each other. Additions of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese were also a delight.Mains were so good we didn't need a pud.Great staff with a friendly welcome and we were well looked after.We will be returning very shortly - strongly recommended.

Brilliant evening at the Rose and Crown for our work Christmas party. Food and drinks were excellent and the staff were so friendly. We were really well looked after!

We wanted to have an outdoor visit somewhere different and ended up visiting Woodchester, after it turned out our first option was unexpectedly closed. We didn’t know the area so after our walk we decided to try the nearest pub for something to eat. Fortunately this turned out to be the Rose & Crown in Nympsfield. The staff were friendly, the ambience was good and our meal was excellent. The sharing platter of local breads with olives, butter and roasted garlic was awesome and our mains of fish & chips and slow roasted pork belly were both delicious.

Wonderful evening spent at the Rose and Crown with their Tapas evening created by their Spanish Chef . Have to admit some of the tastiest tapas and paella we have sampled. Atmosphere was cosy with a warm welcome from the staff . Service was fast but allowed time to sit and chat prior to collecting paella directly from the Chef and not rushed .

Reserved Reserve Very table as read the review to celebrate my birthday. Came in, we were the only ones wasn't given a menu so had to hunt for one. Only half of what was on the menu online was on the menu. Ordered four starter. 3 came out, one came out 15 mins later after asking twice and soup came out with no spoon. When mains came out chios were very burnt and only half the order again came out. Said about the chips. Waited 20 minutes and 2 ordrrs of chips came put but instead of burnt they were now raw. Still sauces for steak hadnt come. Asked again where they were and told on there way. By the time it would have come out all our meal would be cold so I went to the bar and said we were leaving and was only wanting to pay for the drinks. I spoke to one male, explained and he just walked off. Waited a few minutes for another member of staff to come and said if we continue our meal we could have 50% off. I explained by the time our order would be complete we would have to send food back to to re cooked as it was already sitting on the table for 20 mins. Paid for drinks and left. It was Very bad service. No apology for mistakes. Will not be going again

The room itself was beautiful, very new and modern with motion sensor mirrors and quirky little accessories! We didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food, we stayed on a Sunday evening as a stopover on the way to Cornwall and food finished at 4pm but we drove to the local village to an Indian restaurant! The outside area is beautiful for drinks and we thoroughly entourage stay. The only thing for us was no milk in the room and a coffee machine no kettle and there was no one around in the morning to ask. Would recommend and definitely return though!

The Rose & Crown handled our 35-strong wedding party without apparently breaking a sweat. The food was wonderful and the staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again!

We booked a room for the night on way to Cornwall. The pub is lovely but room not so great. Window had ait con unit outside going till 10pm. The heating was on and room roasting we asked one staff member and was told he did not know why it was on but can't turn it off. The TV only had apps on it and WiFi constantly dropped. And no glasses in the bathroom. Food was overpriced for what the served 14 pound for chicken burger. And stuff we asked for on menu. The platers they did not have. Also check your bill when you check out. We had extras on the bill. But to be fare the manager sorted quite quick.

Lovely presented pub both inside and out - very cosy. A warm welcome was given. The drinks were good and the food fantastic- I had the excellent seabass and crab beignets with a tomato salad. All the flavours were just superb and the fish was cooked to perfection. It was restaurant quality. Would definitely return and recommend. Quite a bit of parking available too.

It was our first visit to this pub yesterday and we were looking forward to a nice lunch. Our party was myself, my husband, our teenage son and our dog. First impressions were that the bar area was very attractive and cosy. However, when we said to the girl behind the bar that we had booked a table she informed me there was no booking. I had booked a table via Messenger and had a response confirming the booking. This was not a good start..but these things happen. The food was excellent, pricey but good quality. The toilets had no loo roll at all but this was resolved. Different staff brought our drinks, mains and desserts and all were rather indifferent; I don't want a red carpet rolled out but the lacklustre service spoilt things a bit which is a shame as the food was excellent. Not sure I'd go back as there are other places who do great food and manage to provide excellent service too.

9 of us went for lunch here today. Although, our booking had gone awry somehow they were extremely accommodating and apologetic and found us a lovely large table, being completely unfazed by such a large group! Throughout our visit the waitress (whose name I apologise that I didn't catch) was superb, dealing with all of our requests accurately and efficiently. We had a variety of dishes (including for a gluten free diet) and all of the food was beautifully cooked and extremely tasty, obviously using fresh ingredients and prepared on site. I am always impressed when 9 different meals arrive at the same time, and all are nice and hot! Thank you, we will be back.

Living locally I decided to book a table for myself and a friend for dinner. I'd read about the trip advisor award in the local paper and thought it was time to give it a go.As you walk in you are met with a very tastefully decorated, well thought out Cotswold pub with a wonderfully warm and cosy ambiance. The owner behind the bar was friendly and helpful as were the staff who served us throughout the evening.The menu is not extensive. I'm guessing this is about delivering a limited menu well rather than multiple options perhaps not so well and they do deliver very good food. Living in the Cotswolds I could also tell that everything is sourced from good local suppliers.My only slight criticism was the cost versus the portion size. As someone who eats out locally fairly regularly I have tried a variety of local pubs and in comparison I feel the value for money is not quite there. I would, however, visit again and swallow the price purely because the cosy atmosphere the best I have experienced locally!

On holiday, we booked for Sunday lunch as recommended. Lovely place, friendly staff, and indeed amazing food. Roast beef, pork and fish and chips all scrumptious, as were selection of desserts. Great all round experience. Would come back anytime!

We visited here before a ghost hunt at Woodchester Mansion, this is a lovely pub with a nice atmosphere, staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food was lovely. My only criticism was the price of the wine, which was extortionate, a 250ml Shiraz was £11.50!! we didn’t realise this until we had our bill, thinking it was incorrect until we checked the price listIt’s a shame as I think those prices really let’s it down hence we will not be rushing back! .

Visit on a Monday evening for dinner my husband myself and 2 children 16 & 11. The menu was typical pub grub, only complaint was there was no specials board. Everyone seemed pretty happy with their meals, I had sea bass which was nicely cooked but a little unimaginative with far too many tomatoes on the plate. Service was good and the bar area had a lovely ambience, husband very much enjoyed the local beer and the rose was nice and cold. All in all nice evening

Booked last minute for a night to get away with our labradoodle. We were so lucky to find the Rose and Crown Farmhouse Kitchen. Great accommodation, great beers, fantastic food and a very welcoming bar with friendly staff. Highly recommended and will definitely be coming back

We've wanted to visit this relatively local pub for ages since we moved to the area, but you know what got in the way. So today we got around to it. Nice pub, safe feeling, friendly team and great looking food, that tasted great. Dogs really welcome, nice secret garden out the back.

Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing setting, what more could you want! The staff are so warm and welcoming, nothing being too much trouble. The food is simply devine, I tucked straight into mine before even taking a photo . We we fortunate to have a table outside which is such a lovely space at the back of the restaurant, a really perfect and initmate setting for a meal. Nice to have found a gembof a proper country pub/restuarant. Well done Rose & Crown!!

Visited for the first time on Father’s Day 2021 having found during a lockdown walk. It’s very rare to find somewhere I can find no fault with but the Rose & Crown was one of the few. Service was attentive without being fussy, adaptations to deal with current Covid restrictions well managed, food (starters, mains and pudding) was excellent, tasteful decor, good ambience and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back and hopefully their coffee machine will have been repaired (OK, so there was one minor blemish but I’m overlooking that as they more than earnt the benefit of the doubt!).

My husband and I just enjoyed such a jolly Sunday lunch at the Rose and Crown. We went to celebrate Father’s Day with my Grandmother and our two young daughters of 3 & 5 so quite an age range in our party. It was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back soon. Lovely ambiance and style with comfortable seating. The service was really friendly and easy going but also helpful. We all enjoyed every bit of the food, roasts and yummy puddings! Also, clean loos, a small thing but goes a long way. Well done to all the team there and we look forward to our next visit!

We went on the day it opened (middle of May) and the food was absolutely delicious. Didn’t take long to come out at all, and the service was great. Will be coming back!

I visited with the family last week and we were surprised to find 1 empty table in the gorgeous back garden, which we took. They seemed to extremely busy but the service was still exceptional, and what’s more the food was absolutely outstanding.It’s also great to see this place offering vegan options to satisfy additional people.We will definitely be coming back, thank you to the whole of your team for this experience!

We visited for lunch with friends, encouraged by the many positive reviews. The back yard has been pleasantly done up, but it was odd that on a really sunny day none of the tables had umbrellas, so finding shade not immediately next to another party was hard. Service was indifferent - we were given the wrong menus, drinks took a while to arrive, food arrived in two batches. More disappointingly, the bar was 'out' of elderflower and the coffee machine was 'broken' so the options of small desserts and coffee were ruled out. All in all, a disappointing experience that we won't trouble to repeat.

We stopped off here for lunch after a walk around Winchester Park. We couldn't recommend this enough, the service was impeccable and the food was amazing. We would go back in a heart beat and will always recommend it to any family and friends who are heading in this area!

Excellent roast beef and chicken roast meals enjoyed by all 4. The chef usually closes roasts at 4pm which was out table booking. He responded to our desire for roast meals and we thanked him for doing so. We all said it was tge best roast we had had for a long time. Good thick beef and proper gravy.

Friendly and helpful staff. Nice outside eating area behind the pub, with some covered tables. Fantastic sandwiches and a decent cask ale.

First things first - the welcome, the service and the food were all wonderful - 5/5But the drink prices?! OMG! Outrageous! £5 for a coke to name but one…An unwelcome shock when the bill arrived.Nice to see drivers being encouraged to go for the soft drink option.

Tonight was my partners birthday and our 3rd time eating with rose and crown (twice takeaway, once in). It was soooooo good! I had Thai spiced veggie burger and for a starter I had buffalo cauliflower with blue cheese sauce. My partner had double cheese burger and franks buffalo wings for a starter. It was soooo tasty. 3rd time I’ve had those buffalo cauliflowers (although I do make them at home - definitely not as good haha) and I massively recommend it. Light, crispy and tasty batter and the cauliflower melts in your mouth but isn’t mushy. My burger was amaaaaazing and my partner loved his dishes too. The owners are warm, welcoming and friendly and we can not wait to visit after lockdown has finished. They’ve created such a lovely atmosphere in this pub and the food is absolutely delicious. Thankyou rose and crown (and thankyou for maxes slice of birthday cake, that was so very kind of you). xx

How have I never been here? It's only about 6 miles from home and it was at someone else's suggestion. Anyway, arrived on time, brought up to speed with covid stuff, shown to our table, relations were exceptionally late, no worries at all. Drinks were all good, eco coffee was rated highly. Looked like a nice range of beers. I think all 6 of us ordered something off piste, the waiter took the order in his head (always risky...) and the food was exactly as requested. Fish and chips was very good, pies were considered excellent and the pork belly was just to die for, served on daisy-fresh veg and stunning gravy. Service remained warm, courteous and hospitable.Puds were debated and the crumble was much appreciated, goo d and solid but the rum and coke cake with honeycomb was out of this world.2 courses was around £20 a head and worth every penny. I'd head back tomorrow if I could and will be back very soon.

Fabulous utterly fabulous meal. I decided to go for the roast beef and my god it’s was lovely. I can honestly say the best pub Sunday roast I have had in years. Great pub, great service and very welcoming. Can’t wait to go back again. Thank you Team Rose and Crown.

Just visited the Rose & Crown for late morning coffee, whilst out shopping. Lovely staff, coping well with the new regs. Friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return for lunch another day.

We have visited a few times now and have always been very impressed with the welcoming staff and atmosphere, you can really see that they all get along and are a happy team. The food is delicious, all cooked fresh in house by the owner and Molly the dog is adorable. We felt safe and protected by all the measures in place. Will look forward to our next visit.

Just visited the rose and crown for a relaxed coffee after a wonderful polite lunch at Williams kitchen in Nailsworth, looks a welcoming country pub but gone are the warm greetings! on arrival there were no hellos just straight talk with PPE! I was wearing a mask my partner is exempt as he nearly died from sepsis, phenomenia and kidney failure - our table was right by the from door so a pointless exercise wearing the mask but understand that it is protocol - but staff and businesses are forgetting their manners or any welcome of business here! I own my own business of close contact with strict PPE rules but I never forget who my customers are that bring me my revenue! I will not be recommending this establishment or the very rude manager that also confronted us about the one way system! If it’s not CLEARLY marked out then POLITIELY ask or point people in the right direction! - COVID might well be affecting business but so are your manners!

We had a great dinner at the Rose and Crown. I loved the decor and the atmosphere, it was traditional but up to date, light and some great lively music. The food was fantastic, I had the homemade pie of the day and my other half had the steak, both of which were wonderful. The pub was really dog friendly and we had great customer service. Really enjoyable dinner experience.

We booked to eat here as I won a competition for a local Cote De Beouf to share between two. We received excellent service. our 1yo son was very hungry so they kindly let us order his food before anything else. We received our Cote De Beouf cooked perfectly and was very delicious came with all the trimmings (mushrooms, tomatoes, sweetcorn, chips and sauce for the beef) would definitely recommend! Also can’t forget the warm welcome we received from Molly the pub dog

We came here for a meet up with my brother and his family for a socially distanced roast dinner. First impressions were fabulous, the staff were every friendly and accommodating and the tables were next to each other as but apart as requested. They had a one way system around the pub which worked well and the whole ambiance of the pub was fantastic. Toilets very clean and pristine. The chef was very friendly as he came in and out a few times. The food was out of this world! I had the lamb roast and it was probably the best I’ve had for a long time. definitely heading over here again soon!Thank you, your staff and food are fabulous.

We visited the Rose & Crown on a Saturday evening for dinner. We were welcomed by a very friendly chap, Harry, who showed us to our table and served us throughout the evening. We had a nice table in the main restaurant and I'm pleased to say that we had an amazing evening, the food was great. It definitely exceeded my expectations. We both had lamb as our mains, cooked perfectly, good portion sizes and good value too. They had a great menu, their normal day to day menu and their daily features which was great. We ordered from the daily features for our stater and mains. I was really impressed by this place and will look forward to returning again.

We dropped in here whilst on a long weekend break in the Cotswolds. The food really was superb. The burger was epic, really enjoyable. Clearly using quality products, the bacon on the burger was spot on. I look at the photo of the burger and smile even now.

Visited for a Sunday roast and we loved the food and the staff were very friendly. Our dog loved playing with the resident dog Molly and we will be going back.The squid starter was very tasty and the both the roast beef and pork roast was delicious. They give you plenty of sides including potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower and parsnips. EXtra gravy was provided without a problem.

We came here after a day at Woodchester Park for a drink and we had such a lovely afternoon that we decided to book for dinner that evening. It was delicious and the staff were so welcoming and professional. We also had our puppy with us and he loved the pub dog. I would 100% recommend the Rose & Crown to everybody.

Ate here a couple of times since lockdown. Despite giving a ring prior to attending the head waiter didn't appear to have our booking or the next table's booking. Ordered a steak meal on one occasion and then some starters on another- all good. Operating a one way system in the pub. Friendly waitress who was very efficient and corrected a number of mistakes during our second visit immediately when she'd spotted them- nice service and food.

Went for lunch during a nearby camping trip with 4 children at the end of July. The food was excellent, everyone one of us enjoyed our lunch. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing welcome, made to feel exceptionally important even though we just went for drinks, can't wait to go back for food. The staff are brilliant, very friendly without being overbearing and Molly the pub dog is too!

Thoroughly enjoyed a meal here. I had read the excellent reviews and agree with all of them!. The food was tasty, it was fresh and well presented. I had the risotto and the rice was perfectly cooked, and then the desert of chocolate brownie was to die for!All the staff were friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble. Would come again

As the title says, what more do you want, very friendly and professional service, and fantastic food. We were staying close by in Horsley and went here for lunchtime. We both had the fish and chips that was superb, fish was lovely see photo. On Sunday we booked for a roast and were not disappointed with the beef and pork roasts with plenty of vegetables all cooked really well. We rounded it off with pudding, the apple pie and the New York cheesecake. Both excellent once again. Staff were great especially Harry who served us both days and Meg on Sunday, I think we met the owner on Friday, but didn't catch his name again very friendly. Another plus is the pub is Dog friendly.

Good atmosphere with superb food. The one way system works well. Good choice fir children. Couldn’t resist a piece art from local artist that was on display.

Stopped in for a light lunch and a drink. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly (including the gorgeous lab who kept us company!). Amazing food and top quality service. Thank you!

COVID-19 we felt very safe eating and drinking here the pub have put in full measures including a one way system, food served to a clear table near you so no staff are leaning over you serving your food etc to name a couple of examples all these measures were explained in a polite friendly manner when we arrived.All the staff were very friendly, polite and professional at all times The food was excellent the icing on the cake! We had starters and the Sunday roast, the beef was excellent cooked rare as I like it (they will do well done if you ask) my wife had the pork that was so tender. When it arrived she did not think she would finish it but it just melted in the mouth. An amazing variety of vegetables were served to accompany the meat. at this stage we thought we were finished but were tempted by the desserts and again the flavours were lovely so glad we decided to have one.If you are ever passing this place it’s well worth the visit, we even took a diversion off the M5 (it’s only 5 miles)to go as we heard it was worth a visit and we were not disappointed and will be going back!!!

At the rose and crown the owners are delightful, such a happy friendly family. The food is better than anything I've tasted, the burgers are an absolute delight and the homemade/handmade pizzas are out of this world. Nothing better than the classic pub grub but taken to a whole new level of excellent taste! Well priced and absolutely a bargain for the money you pay, a guaranteed yes and full bellies in my household when I ask if they want food from the pub without a doubt everytime. I am glad that I have them so close to my doorstep, absolutely excellent local!!! The overall look of the place is excellent, a lovely rustic look to fit in perfectly with the surrounding area of cotswolds.

With everything closing down , we saw their Facebook post about takeaway Sunday dinner, and with it being the wife’s birthday, I could not ask her to cook.So we booked the roast beef for collection.The pick up service was great, everything was hot, including a jug (plastic milk container) of gravy . We hadn’t booked but the friendly staff got us seated and we gave Molly the resident dog plenty of fuss. Ignore the reviews about her being in a cage - she was roaming free but I’m sure when it gets really busy the cage is safest for her. For a small team, the staff did a great job and the food was delicious. We had Calamari (definitely recommend) and burgers (very good quality) and although serving time was slow, it was a busy time so to be expected. Will definitely be back!

I popped in for lunch with my pooch after a nice long walk at Woodchester Park. Muddy paws welcome. Many choices on menu. They literally printed out the lunch menu as I arrived and there was an influx of customers for an early lunch (just after midday). Efficient service, got served quickly. Tasty food. Molly the resident pooch is very friendly and says hello to everyone coming in. Would recommend if you are in the area.

I came in with my partner and her family last night for a meal, I had the chicken and pepperoni pizza myself whereas the others had their own dishes.Was were all definitely impressed, lovely atmosphere, brilliant food and the bartender was a delight - very friendly and the service was amazing.Thanks :)

Perfect place to stop for lunch after a dog walk along Cotswold Way. Very dog friendly and a warm welcome to us too ! Food was good quality and promptly served. Bit short of beer choices ( a busy day before ) but I'm sure when we visit again this won't be an issue. Really enjoyed our lunch here and will definitely go again.

Precooked family meal.Long wait for food, though to be fair I believe the pub was unexpectedly busy.When food arrived four of eight meals were barely warm, one without advertised ingredients, which was added to half way through after complaint.Found the prices very high, £16 for a bowl of macaroni cheese, that was it, bit of bread or chips at extra cost. For that price I was expecting a meal, not spaghetti and cheese.(They had no macaroni!)Pub was cold, with a few inefficient heaters scattered about.Will not be returning.

Had lunch here on Saturday, 8/12/19 with our dog. Food was very nice, staff were very friendly and the pub was a traditional Cotswolds pub with log fire. The resident dog was friendly. We will return.

I would like to let everyone know about my visit to the rose and crown. I was greeted with a huge smile and a wonderful welcome from a petite red head who was serving on the bar as soon as we walked into the pub. Drinks were poured as we were seated swiftly. Menu is delicious! I can't wait to try more! I recommend this family run pub to anyone who asks. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be returning soon

We had been wanting to go here since it reopened. So to get away from the fireworks we chose the rose and crown. Our dog was welcome and was greeted by the pub dog molly so he had a great night!! We were welcomed by friendly efficent staff and the pub was lovely and warm. The food was good pub food at very reasonable prices perfect for a impromptu dinner out.

I was very disappointed with this overall mess of a pub. The bar staff were extremely rude with them also drinking on shift and not family friendly. With swearing going on at the bar I was not happy having my family in this environment. We were very upset about the poor dog that was caged for the entire time we were there. The music was awful like a never ending Mardi Gras nightmare consisting of the same beat over and over. To add insult to injury the final bill was completely over priced coming to over £120 for mains and drinks for four people. I would not recommend to my worst enemy.
