Some of the worst sausage & chips I've had in years. Battered sausage was absolutely awful and the batter was not even solid nevermind crisp as you'd expect. I'm no expert but it may have even been raw/uncooked batter. Chips were disappointing but just serviceable. Basically a bag of scratchings with about a dozen proper chips in there. Cold after a 10 minute drive home. I had gone in wanting to order fish, but none were prepared and when I inquired I was not offered for them to cook one for me. Frankly now I'm glad as I can only imagine how awful it would have been based on the sausage. No card machine available was the icing in the cake. Even for the relatively decent price of £5.10, the standard was so far below that of other Chippys in the surrounding area. Serious change would need to happen before I went back I'm afraid.

We hadn’t got fish and chips from Walkers for about six months as our last experience was dreadful. However, we gave it a try last night. Two pieces of cod, large chips and a curry sauce. We couldn’t fault it. Everything was very well cooked and piping hot. A bit more of a welcome and a smile and it would have been a 5.

Great food, not crazy expensive, will definitely come back!

Absolutely terrible. The food had all been carelessly smashed up together, the fish cake was mushed into the chips. The sausage tasted really weird and was inedible. The "large" portion of chips was pathetic in comparison to any other chip shop I've been to. The one good thing was the curry sauce.

Fab Fish & Chips, two bags easily enough to feed 3 of us. Fresh, hot and crunchy. Yum.

Not the best, but not the worst. Service wasn’t particularly slick and the place could do with a little TLC. The cod and chips were ok - the chips were better than the fish, which was a bit dry and the batter burnt in places. At price point they should look at what their competitors offer - improved premises, better packaging and the offer of a lemon wedge / tartare sauce.

Treated family to a çhippy.. and was absolutely mank. Small portions and Such poor quality food.. chips were hard.. gravy was like water....sausage didn't look great and pie was just chucked in microwave

Expensive at 7.10 for battered sausage chips and curry sauce….the sausage was abysmal, hardly any batter and texture was awful. Smelt weird, like it had been recooked from lunch, the chips were very pale….even my cat refused it, I am local but won’t be going any time soon

They were pretty busy and considering this the service was pretty good the food, however, well if you know what Good, fish and chips is you’re not going to get it here. The place is a little goldmine (best part of £12 for fish, chips, and curry sauce) with no competition but they need to up their game or they won’t be getting many return customers. Chips, average at best. The pea fritter was sad - looked like it had a lucky escape from Chernobyl. The fish well what can I say without going into detail…it’s simple food that should be done well, but this is simple food not done well.

This is the first trip advisor review I have written but I felt compelled after purchasing 2 x cod and chips with peas and tartare sauce for £20. The batter tasteless and very soggy, the fish was dry as of it had been sitting in the warmer for hours. Tartare sauce was missing. All very disappointing and very poor food!

Says open till 22:30 but already closed and it's only 21:45 poor service, guess they don't want to make any money...

Had cod and large chips. The cod was nearly cold and a small piece for£7. The chips we had to put in the microwave ( we only lived 5 mins from take away). There was a lot of bits and quite a few bad ones. Will not return.

Really poor quality undercooked fish and chips. Cheesy chips was an inedible greasy mess. Cash only is annoying and presumably a tax dodge. Polystyrene trays still. Customer service was pretty poor, some of the staff were trying but were not trained well.

Unfortunately not the best fish and chips . Mostly bits of potato’s and the pea fritter was non existent. We have had better here so disappointed tonight . Fish in batter wasn’t brilliant either /(

Went to buy fish and chips for the family. Only accept cash so had to go to Tesco to the cash point. The bill was £34 and realised that they added large chips to everything when we only wanted 1 large chips to share!!!! The fish was not good and the chips were soggy and tasteless. They had to be asked for a bag to take everything away. Not good.

There was a queue but it was dealt with quickly. The portions are a good size and staff are friendly

Where to start, ! Blonde young girl behind the till needs to crack a smile and be polite she’s very rude everytime I’ve been in there, definitely not someone to have at reception, the only decent thing here is the young tall lad who works there, food is disgusting battered sausage with hardly any batter on, asked for a burger and got a half battered burger slopped together with a smudge of sauce no salad as I wasn’t even asked, large chips is just as small as the smallest bag of chips there, they seriously need ti sort their staff out and portion sizes !! Would not recommend at all, definitely won’t be going back

Solid, reliable fish and chips. Good portions and quick, even when busy.

I recently tried the fish and chips at this restaurant and was blown away by how delicious they were! The fish was perfectly battered and fried to a golden crisp, and the chips were hot and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The portion size was generous and the price was very reasonable. The service was also great - the staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty and satisfying meal!

I travel from Stroud to get fish and chips here. I asked the owner how come his fish and chips tasted so good: "we only buy the best fish, best potatoes and best oil". It costs a bit more, but it is worth it for taste and health.

We treat ourselves to a fish and chip supper once a month. We are never disappointed. They taste like fish and chips used to taste in days gone by. They are well worth the car journey. Always fresh and piping hot as they are cooked to order. My mouth is watering even as I type this review!

Nice, but a bit pricy. Also, they only take cash. 2 chips 3 fish for just shy of £30.... I feel like I could sit down in a pub and pay about the same - and not have to run off to get cash too.

Food is decent but they do not understand the meaning of the word quick. Most definitely not fast food, also only accepts cash.

Very good range of fresh fish,scampi, sausages and the best chips. Nice people and good service. Gets very busy at times. Covid rules presently mean one person at the time in shop, hopefully this will change soon.02/22. Another visit in Nov 22 and quality is still great . 👍

Great fish and chip shop local to our town. My daughter has worked at the shop for 2 years and has always been treated well and paid promptly. Tips shared fairly and I always feel like the older members of staff keep an eye out for her. Would definitely recommend for a friendly chip shop with great customer service

Fish was oily and watery. Vhips were cold and spongy, probably out for a few hours.

My son worked 3 shifts for this business with NO PAY and let go with a “thanks for trying out the role” no wonder it’s never the same teenager working there they obviously use their labour and never pay them disgraceful business

Great little Fish & Chip emporium, had the normal size chips, it could have fed 2. Chips we're excellent as was the pie I get with it.

Starting going again recently, just on a Saturday. Staff friendly and polite. 2 cod, 1 portion of chips. They were so good and hot we made it a regular thing. Because of this, our support bubble decided to have some with us today. 2 haddock, cooked fresh to order, 3 cod, 1 large and 1 regular chips. 10 minute wait for the haddock, which was fine. When unwrapped the haddock were mini whales. Gorgeous crispy batter, succulent fish. The cod was a good size and perfectly cooked. Everything was piping hot and very tasty. One moan. One of the haddock was very boney (7) whilst the other was bone free. For the first time I went for chips at an unusual time, 1550hrs. The chips were awful. Must of been in the warmer for a long time. Hard, unpalatable, and not very warm. Upshot is, they cannot refresh after a long period in the warmer. No, no , no!

Good presentation, stale food. The cod was incredibly watery, oily and the chips tasted like they'd been out all week. I've never regretted stopping by a chippy before, but there we go.

I just had haircut at the barbershop in Nailsworth (*see barbershop review, they are very good) and popped to wakers fish and chips for a light lunch before buss back to stroud before work. My order: large chips with salt. Can't remember exactly think large chips were 3.20 or 50. Which didn't see too bad but know some places in stroud. Like for example best pizza and kebab house which large chips are a pound cheaper. The owners salt portion was good for my liking. Why you lost a star was because half because of chips price and half because they being greedy and charging 40p per ketchup shasa. I understand you trying to make money of course but other places give sashes for free if you get chips etc

Chips were good, but it loses a star for charging extra for a bag. There's a specific exemption for plastic bags for food that's "in containers that aren’t secure enough to prevent leakage during handling". Being expected to carry chips and sauces home in your arms is ridiculous. They need to buy some paper bags.

this is a unique place in the cotswolds. great menu and well delivered. Good to book in advance and to study menu carefully before ordering.

Staff were very friendly, fish and chips were freshly cooked to perfection and very tasty a joy to eat up on the common Only drawback is that we had to pop to a cash point as we don’t carry cash and they don’t take cards, which is unusual in the current climate

Very hit and miss, sometimes tasty, sometimes meh. Mediocre customer service. Always best to phone your order as they prioritise phone orders above all else. You can end up waiting for a very long time otherwise.

Great fish and chips! Always fresh (so you might have a wait, but it’s worth it!). Lovely staff who are really helpful. We go most Fridays and have never been disappointed.

This has been re-edited and re-stared (as it was 5 stars) ..... bought a large portion chips and a small portion of chips last night (both at the same time)and both were less than a small handful of chips in each portion that we had received the rest was just the paper that it was wrapped in .... the fish was old and dry and the same goes for the battered sausage, gravy was as thick as jelly and stone cold , the only good thing was the curry sauce and even that was cold !!! never ever again will I go to this chip shop total Rip off ... and I'm seriously contemplating of notifying trading standards regarding this Don’t buy the pies as you get them uncooked and mostly raw and cold

Chicken n mushroom pie and chips and pea fritter with curry sauce twice. Cold cold cold, only took the takeaway half mile up the road. Hopefully I wont get food poisoning from a cold chicken pie. Dried up fritter. Rang the chip shop back to...

Always can be relied upon for quantity and quality. A telephone order service is appreciated to avoid waiting - especially for the Haddock, which is always only cooked fresh to order: and always massive!

Dreadful. Worst fish and chip shop I have ever been to. Miserable people with absolutely no people skills. Chips grey and dry. Only reason they have one star is because there is no option for zero. I rarely give bad reviews.

Food was awfull so phoned shop and he put phone down on us usually very good but tonight was absolutely terrible it burnt your mouth with the taste off salt and very soggy chips

The worst chips that Ive eaten, bought it today around 12:15. It's a shame because not long ago the quality of food there was pristine. Please do something about it. We miss the Portuguese staff member, who worked there before, he was the best there.

Cold chewy chips, clearly reheated, fish tasted like it had been lying about for a while, served by a young man who used the f word, moaning about lack of customers, hardly surprising.

Had cod and chips and chicken burger and chips, the burger and fish were ok the chips were cold and hard, they looked like they had been sitting in tray for ages, when my wife complained the chap said there was nothing wrong with them and was quite rude after some debate he begrudgingly gave her the money back for one portion of chips

Fish was in the display and I don't know for how long it has been there but it wasn't fresh for sure. The chips where OK but went quite spongee through out the transport, dismissing the fact that they just use the frozen one from the packet not home made. Also tried the buttered sausage but it was very greesy. The staff was quite helpful and good but I won't go there again.
