We have been several times to this pub for lunch and have generally been pleased with the meals. However today was an exception as we left feeling 'Ripped Off'. Service was good, meals tasty but when we got the bill what a shock. I had the bacon added to the burger and knew that it was going to be £2.75 but only one slice, very poor portion for the price. My 96 year old Father in Law asked for some cream with his pudding instead of custard. A small sauce dish came and he was charged £3.50 for this small amount. More than the cost of a whole quarter of cream. When will these pubs learn that if you rip off your customers then there will be no repeat business!

We went for a birthday lunch, the service was great. The place itself is lovely and clean, the park area for the kids is good. The food was lovely and fresh but I do think it was pricey. £8:95 for a pudding and the main meals were pricey £18:50 for a gammon steak Would I go again ? Yes for a drink in the sun but wouldn’t go again for a meal as there’s more places to eat at more reasonable prices

Staff were lovely and very polite from time we made contact to book table and while we were there. We went for carvery on Sunday to celebrate a family birthday. The Carvery is served for you and not serve yourself, unfortunately this was the downfall of what could have been an amazing visit. The meat was dry and cut wafer thin and a very small amount at that. There was only 4 varieties of veg (swede, cabbage, peas and carrots) which may as well have been served with a teaspoon as that's as much as you got of each. The only thing that was hot was the roast potatoes but they were tasteless. The standard adult carvery was just under £16 and there was hardly anything served on the plate. The food and drinks are incredibly overpriced which is such a shame as with the surroundings it could have been perfect. If charging that much you should at least make sure you have a good variety of vegetables and that the meat is cooked nicely. If you have to serve it for the customer instead of them serving themselves then at least make sure you give proper portions. I had the same served on my plate as my 4 year old (childs carvery) This would then make it worth it and give people no reason to complain. I will say that 2 of our party had burgers and they said they were ok but they were over £15 for just plain burger and then they charge £2.50 to add a slice of cheese and £2.75 to add a slice of bacon. I understand that there is always a mark up on food but that is just taking advantage. This meant that a bacon cheeseburger with a very small helping of chips came to £20.25 !!! Really wasn't worth anywhere near that. Only had 1 drink each when we realised that it was £2.10 just for a dash of lime. Overall a real disappointment.

We held a 90th birthday lunch for my dad at The Old Quay in Hayle in their upstairs function room. From the first email, to serving the last glass of fizz, Trevor and the team were simply amazing. Super-organised, helpful, smiling and unflappable: just what you need when organising a secret birthday lunch for over 30 guests! Everything ran smoothly and the food was very tasty. The area has its own bar, dance floor and toilets and two sets of stairs-one with a stairlift. Everywhere was very clean. It’s really easy to get to being just off the main A30 bypass on the estuary just outside Hayle and has loads of parking. I strongly recommend and would certainly go there again for a similar event. Although we didn’t use it, they also have a screen and AV equipment.

Perched on the edge of the estuary the location is perfect however the welcome was a little frosty and having been seated on the smallest table available the atmosphere could only be described as a little odd, functional not friendly and verging on dismissive. The menu offered a good selection of interesting options and in part the food was acceptable. Some elements were not the best quality but in general our meals were edible if a little pricey. We didn’t feel that The Old Quay House really wanted people to do anything more than eat and leave. A huge shame really as the location offers so much at first sight.

Quite why there are so few reviews of this restaurant/pub is a mystery as it is so close to the A30, has great ambience and offers lovely views from the garden tables. Our group of 4 enjoyed lunch indoors and found the food quality to be good (but not very good) and the staff and owner friendly. However, a pie order produced an incorrect pie (the recipient chose not to send it back) and the chips on another order were not fresh cooked (I call it the heat lamp problem). We were also surprised to find a charge for milk (for coffee or tea) added to our bill - small but irritating on a hot day! We enjoyed the location so much, we called againg for coffee later in the week.

We rang and booked as we wanted to eat early and from previous experience the restaurant get busy especially at peak times. Very friendly over the phone and our booking was taken efficiently. We arrived and were met by a member of staff who couldn't do enough to help us. The interior decor was fresh and felt welcoming yet still cosy if that makes sense, this location next to the estuary is idilic especially when the tide is in. Our order was taken quickly and we were eating within a short time. The food was piping hot and tasty, portions were excellent. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection special mention were the chips being crisp on the outside but fluffy in the middle just how I like them. The food was good value for money and the overall experience was very enjoyable, we loved it.

Sour welcome from the lady owner. Not a smile at all. Overpriced poorly presented food. Hake was ok with bland crust. The vegetable medley was mushy fried courgette and sliced baby sweetcorn and rock hard potatoes. Lasagne was average. Worst meal out in three weeks. Café style dining. Service was poor. Maybe their first night, so we could ignore that. Didn't collect dinner plates or ask if we wanted dessert. Just left there till we got up and paid at the bar. In fact, nothing good to say about any of it. I never give poor feedback, but give this a miss.

We went as a family on a Sunday just before restrictions were lifted. We all had something different off the menu and each dish was well presented and delicious. The owners were very attentive and helpful.

What a find. Did a coastal walk and was looking for a nice place for a drink - this was amazing. lovely staff - we sat in the restaurant to watch the sun go down and then moved to sit by a blazing fire. Were not planning to eat but seemed we just had too. The 'best fish and chips I have ever had' for GF and wonderful Sausage and Mash. Such a nice place and total surpise treat for us. Will return for sure - the best sunset view I have seen.. Thank you

15 Falmouth Road Runners ran from the Queens Arms this morning, then bundled back in for breakfast afterwards. Gary and the team looked after us splendidly! Cooked breakfasts, veggie breakfast, avo, things on toast and loads of tea & coffee. All served up by friendly and efficient staff, and no time at all. Awesome!

Having not been here in over a year we thought we would have an evening out as we had always enjoyed the food and atmosphere, sadly we were disappointed and did not end up staying for food. Firstly on entering we could not smell and food smells only a damp musty smell. We ordered drinks and were shocked at the price, over £10 for a shandy and half a glass of lime and soda. On being seated upstairs it felt chilly, the table was grubby and the light feature on the table did not work. Awful pop music playing in the background was being drowned out by the bellowing voice of the chef downstairs in the kitchen, we could hear most of what he was saying including the 'F' words. After sitting for 10 mins we realised that the dish I would be ordering (slow cooked pork belly)was obviously not cooking so would most probably have been microwaved along with the dauphinoise potatoes, and the noise of the chef and music we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Such a shame that this once lovely restaurant lacked atmosphere, fresh cooked food and respect for customers from the chef!

Don't be put off by some of the negative 1 star reviews (some seem suspiciously negative and unreal.) Certainly this pub has seen much better days and yes it is looking very run down and tired. The staff are excellent, genuinely freindly and welcoming. The rear restaurant overlooking the beach is generally closed for the winter months but the front bar is warm and cosy with a large log burner. Food and drink wise is exceptional for its pricing. Currently doing a daytime deal of 'Light bites' at £10.00 each - Don't be mislead by the term 'Light' these are full meals which are cooked to a very high standard by an obviously capable chef. well kept beer around £5.00 pint - not too far off spoons pricing during the day (But better quality food i.M.H.O ) The main problems have been historic since the pandemic, and like many pubs have struggled with costs and staffing but the current managerment/staff really are turning this around. The actual owners seem not to want to spend any money on the building perhaps to demolish it and build yet more unnecessary flats? Remember people - use them or lose them.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.
