Second visit to this lovely old country pub. Sunday roast this time and it was delicious. Based on older reviews, the new owners have cleared improved the place. Food was great, staff attentiveness was excellent and pretty good value too, oh and let's not forget the wonderful views from the garden. Happily recommend this place and will definitely visit again.

I haven’t been to this pub in a long time, since feeling it was being run into the ground by the previous owners, but having heard that the pub was under new ownership, I decided to pay it a visit and I was pleasantly surprised by the positive changes. The atmosphere was lively yet cozy, and friendly (which it definitely wasn’t before), the staff were friendly and attentive, and the quality of the food and drinks was impressive. It's evident that the new owners have put in a lot of effort to refresh the place while still maintaining its charm, and despite this being their first week, they seemed to have ironed out any teething issues, or at least they aren’t visible to guests. I highly recommend giving this pub a try to experience the exciting updates firsthand. Cheers to the new owners for revitalising this local gem, I wish you the best of luck!

13th century pub, an experience to visit, especially if taking road from Poughill. Made welcome and liked offering of local beers. Food order placed at bar, food arrived in good time. Fish stew was delicious and fairly priced for these days. Would be very happy to return. Seems some people have had bad service, certainly not the case for us.

Beautiful location. Food adequate but definitely would have liked a sprig or two of local watercress with my salad. Surely watercress should be included more in the menu - it's what this area is famed for! The IPA (on tap) unfortunately didn't taste that good. l paddled in the nearby river as it was the hottest day of the year.

The bar and restaurant was cosy and inviting with a good selection of food on the menu to order from. My daughter ordered the Gluten Free fajitas which were described as including wraps on the menu. But they were served with chips instead of the wraps described. When my daughter questioned it, the bar lady gave a rude response "That's just the way it's worded" as she was turning away back towards the bar. My fajita wraps were cold and too thick ( almost inedible). This was a shame as were looking forward to eating there based on previous reviews.

We've enjoyed coming to the Bush for years for the relaxed friendly country pub experience, although this time I was taken aback by the attitude of a lady serving at the bar. "What table number are you"? Came the question when I said we'd be eating lunch. "Morwenna" I said - a 'named table'covered with a grassy roof near to the decked area. "We don't serve to that table, only tables in the decked area" came a blunt response. I informed her that we wanted to sit at Morwenna and we didn't want to sit at the decked area - a sun trap (the place wasn't busy and we'd wanted to keep our elderly dog in the shade this offered and we'd always eaten in Morwenna (and Hawker in the past). "Well Tough"!! came the response - with a snarky tone. "You can order at the decking and bring it down to Morwenna if you want, but we're not serving you there - you'll have to sit at a numbered table"! I then said not to worry we'd forgo the food in that case. She then gave me a sarcastic smirk - as if to say she couldn't care less. I then ordered the cheapest two drinks possible for our children (about £3.50) and waited for our friends and their children to arrive, we all then left to eat at the tearooms down the road a bit, where we received a much better welcome and service. So a moments rudeness cost this pub £300 plus of business in an instant, and our future business (we'd intended to while away the afternoon there as we have for years). This person clearly couldn't care less perhaps because the pub isn't short of punters, but any business prefers that customers be looked after, and their money's in the till. Incredible jobsworth attitude of someone who has a natural contempt for the lifeblood of any business - the customers. Adherence to a silly policy - (Morwenna is 3 metres from the decked area so hardly a hike), when some common sense and discretion would have won the day. I don't know what their reasons are for not allowing people to eat in the garden, but I'm sure it's irritating to many. Really hope common sense prevails because this pub sells itself - but the staff certainly fell short this time. Why be like that?

Pre booked as been here several years ago for Sunday lunch and it was lovely. Decided to take a ride on motorbikes and have a meal with friends. Asked at the bar if we could park on tarmac at rear as the carpark was rough and about full, the person at the bar said it would be fine. As we parked a person came out from property at the rear ,aggressive and very rude about us parking and decided to lecture us. I tried explain that we had ask at the bar and asked him to calm down. He then told us he was the landlord. I will take my money elsewhere thanks and look for some polite service. Very disappointed but your loss.

We had a lovely family meal after a day in Bude, knowing it is very dog friendly. Firstly enjoying a drink in the garden then dining inside. The food was good but perhaps not quite as good as a our visit last year? It is order at the bar now and we did enjoy the table service from last year. ~There was also, to our amusement, an argument very vocally bursting forth from the kitchen! I think they may have been short staffed?

Me (disabled) my wife my mother I law and father in law went to see the bencoolen wreckers here, we decided to go early and get dinner we spent nigh on £90 on food and went and sat on a bench to watchthe singers in the open air, then a lady came up ( apparently she was a co owner ) and said we had to move as this table was booked for 6.30pm, ( it was now 7pm) my wife asked where we could sit she was rude and abrupt and said '" sit on the grass" me being disabled and my father in law is 74. I was disgusted with her and was stopped by my family from going up to her and her cronies on their bench ( yes she had a seat) and giving her a piece of my mind. So we left, missed the show....NEVER AGAIN will I go there. By the way the 1 star is for the view only

We recently stayed in Welcombe and spotting a sign on the main road we followed it down the lanes to The Bush Inn at Morwenstow. Wow, what a find! This pub is brilliant on a summer afternoon for a pint or a meal in lovely surroundings. The bar is full of character, old bricks and beams, great local beers, and friendly owners and staff. The outside area is stunning, with views across the fields and woodland to the sea beyond. The large garden has a play area for the kids, and lots of comfortable seating to relax and enjoy a cold drink. The food is really tasty and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

If your idea of good pub grub is cash and carry heated up 10 minutes after you order then you'll love this place. The menu says good quality home-made food and I'd be surprised if any of the food is home-made (that said, the sticky toffee pudding was good!!). I would have been very unhappy if paying full price but thankfully the eat out to help out deal made it just about palatable. Initially seemed OK until we sat inside. 2 drunk men at the bar spoke loudly about graphic views on female genitalia and carnal activities. I'm toning down for polite company. To make it worse the landlord sat next to them sucking on a vape pipe. Its a pub what did you expext, you may say. Well it was 17.30 on a Monday afternoon so I thought it should be OK to expect just a little more especially as they were selling mains at £20). Handed our drinks back and left without eating. At the end of the day if the landlord and lady need these types of person to generate income that's their perogotive and if you are out on a pub crawl its a really convenient stop off(just drive 3 miles down country lanes and you are there, Perhaps that's where these chaps came from) for us,including the 7 year old who learned some new words today, we ain't going back. I'm sure the owners are nice people and they seemed shocked when we left and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt...but you know what you only get 1 go at customer service and you picked the drunks over the 7 year old. By the way it illegal to knowingly serve a drunk and I heard you saying "you won't catch them up they have been Driking for 6 hours" they then laughed and said "5 more hours to go then". Probably worth re reading your liquor licence.

We didn't want to go into the main town of Bude so went exploring along the country lanes, past the radar dishes of GCHQ, and saw a sign to the Bush Inn. Follow the signs, we did for miles, down single track roads, reversing when you met a car, but we got there. A pint of the local brew each and homemade nachos with all the trimmings for me and a cheese sandwich for him. The bar is tiny and there are a couple of tables, which would be cosy if the weather was bad. There are tables and benches outside too. While we were there walkers were arriving to book into the cottages on site. A delight at the end of the road.

Having gone to this Inn on recommendation for an end of walking holiday meal out we (a group of 9) were exceedingly disappointed by the service and attitude of the staff. We ordered our food in good time. Apart from two people having starters everyone else went straight to a main course. Unbelievably, it took 2 hours before the food arrived and by that time a lot of frustration had set in as the staff did nothing to explain the delay or placate us during this time. To cap it all one of the staff then had the audacity to try and make us feel guilty for having demanded our food without any further delay after we had been sat at the table for just under 2 hours by suggesting we had been rude.

Most of the food was ok not amazing but ok, the steaks were tough and luke warm by the time they were given steak knives to eat them, then a member of the family had to track them down! Two meals came out wrong and by the time they correct meals were brought out the rest of us had finished ours.We could here the staff arguing about whose fault it was from The kitchen, then heard one be particularly rude about our table. The glasses were terribly marked and the whole place felt grubby. The 2 meals were taken off the bill and a drink was given to the 2 concerned, however this didn't really make up for the attitude of the staff, maybe they don't like outsiders.

We visited the Bush Inn whilst on holiday in Bude. What looked to be a lovely place for a family meal turned out to be a very long night. Upon arrival we were shown to the bar and told there is a 45 minute wait for food, we accepted this and were then shown to our table in the restaurant. We were seated next to a couple with two dogs who unfortunately would not stop growling all night. I can appreciate this can't be helped if you have a 'dogs allowed policy'.1hr45 later we were informed the 'chef' accidentally dropped the last batch of soup on the floor meaning one of our starters could not be served, they did however offer an alternative. After 2hr 15 we were served our mains and by this point we were understandably annoyed and disappointed with the service. To which we hoped the food would make up for the wait and lack of customer service skills.Unfortunately it only continued to get worse. The steaks were cooked incorrectly and were cold. We asked for a burger with no relish and disappointingly, it came with relish. The lamb was dry and over cooked, with the only saving grace being the crab cakes which were very nice. After this we decided desert wasn't going to be an option and we asked for the bill and informed the waitress about our disappointing meals especially the fact that they included relish when we specifically asked for it not to be included. (This could have been serious if it was an allergy requirement). The waitress said 'she would tell the chef'.To top of the awful service, disappointing food and all round poor evening we were given no money off the bill which I would have thought would be good practice for a car crash meal they provided. Avoid at all cost.

I asked the waitress if the management had changed and she said yes a few weeks ago. Our friends both ordered the pie, from the limited specials board on this Saturday night. I had sausage and mash and my partner had ham eggs and chips. As you can imagine not what we had expected as we are real fish seekers!Anyway our 2 dishes were edible albeit very pub like. The pie was steak pie, which was chewy and tough! Our friends left most of theirs and we told the waitress that they were not good. She said she was sorry and would tell the chef. No one else came to us and nothing was knocked off the bill! We will not be returning here and would not recommend to anyone. What a shame as this used to be one of our places to must go to, but not anymore!

Staying in the area on holiday and decided to go for dinner, noticed on signs nearby "Under new management". The pub is in a lovely rural location with stunning views out to the coast, it has a big garden & is nicely kept outside. Booked a table & on arrival had to find someone to tell us which it was, waited 15 minutes no one came to even take a drinks order, went again to find someone. Very pleasant but clearly overworked waitress told us to order at the bar before we had even seen a menu or wine list! She then apologetically brought a menu but still no wine list, we hunted around for this ourselves. As instructed then ordered at the bar. All food seemed to come with chips when on 1 dinner only salad required, even though this was repeated to barman 3 times it was expected this would be wrong, and it was! When food arrived & it was pointed out to the waitress that chips were not ordered her reply was "it comes with chips"!! The food itself was however very plentiful and tasted ok , all piled on top of chips!!As the sign said its "under new management" so maybe time yet for improvements to be made, the whole place inside is tired and sad looking and rather grubby, we got the feeling this is a local drinking pub rather than one that wants to embrace tourists to the area, with a decent food menu or service, clearly there is potential for much improvement but we will not be going there again ourselves & on reflection felt the only person who had any sense of customer care was the waitress who did try very hard.

Very welcoming. Despite being very busy due to a large arranged gathering we were served immediately and placed in a quiet area so our three dogs didn't get stressed by the many people around. Quick service. Food lovely. Will definitely call again. Lovely looking beer garden noticed as we left which would be a great place to sit if the weather had been a bit better

One of the best burgers I've ever had, and I've had many all around the world! After a arduous hike from South Hole along the coastal path, the Bush Inn was a welcome sight. Staff were friendly, the beer great and the food fantastic. Worth the effort to get there, recommend the Bush Inn and it us on my list when I am next down to Bude!

We had one beef and one lamb roast and both were gorgeous thick tasty gravy, well cooked meat and crispy potatoes. The accompanying veg needed more love but overall a fantastic meal. Our dog had fun too!

It's an interesting pub to pay a visit to. A bit quirky in its layout, the decor is traditional in a mishmash of tables/chairs, white wash walls & odd relics on the walls. The selection of beers/cider is fine, we didn't sample the food but other people seemed to be enjoying it. The barman was entertaining and the locals friendly. Very traditional and worth a visit.

Popped in twice - once for a beer - dropped in off the South West Coast Path, which passes close. Couple of excellent pints of Tribute. Then came back the following day with the family for dinner. Good pub grub, excellent chips! We variously has the catch of the day Fish and Chips, and a burger. Good atmosphere in the pub, friendly staff, and friendly locals - we were in Cornwall for the week. The busy barman was running the show for drinks and food, and was on top of his game.Great location, excellent views. On a sunny day, a pint in the garden is pretty spot on.

a family group of us booked for dinner at this pub, it was very busy on Saturday night but the service was good, full of character and wonderful views of the countryside, food was excellent, not a vast menu but home made and very tasty, there are rooms to stay if you wish and this is a good venue for hikers that arrived whilst we were there, if you want a pub that is quiet and away from the traffic then this is for you, we shall certainly visit again, thank you

Old coaching Inn with heaps of character, excellent drinks and simple pub food. No need for piped music and service a bit huffy, probably as dogs are more tolerated than welcomed. Huge garden and really convenient for those walking the South Coast Way

After a seven mile walk along the coastal path The Bush Inn was the perfect resting point for a couple of pints and an early dinner. We'd come across the pub the day before when checking out the area and were immediately made to feel very welcome and it was that warm hospitality that made us decide to pick that particular section of the coastal path to walk knowing that we'd have somewhere inviting to aim for!The pub is truly authentic, no make-overs to make it feel old, this is the real deal; flagstone floors, scrub top tables and open fires - perfect! The menu is simple but covers all the bases and the actual food is delicious. My wife enjoyed the halloumi burger whilst I plumped for the fish and chips which was cooked perfectly. To top it all the other guests in the pub were also very friendly which made us feel even more welcome.A fantastic pub which we will visit again.

We stopped here for lunch after walking the coastal path and it was very, very busy. We did manage to get some food but as we had to walk back, just had a pasty each with salad which was actually very nice. Inside the pub it's quite small but very attractive and quaint - lots of beams. It's a very nice pub but we've never had dinner in here so can't comment on that.

We have visited this pub quite a few times, usually in the warmer months, but this time, we found it to be fairly unwelcoming. Very very cold and dark, yes we like an old atmospheric pub but this one was struggling. Limited menu and expensive for what it was. Not sure we would bother again.

We had booked for lunch here - obviously with trade being slack in the winter the restauraunt had been closed and we had been reserved a table in the bar - not ideal for my aging parents in their late 80s - So staff very helpfully opened up the restauraunt and provided a heater in there Food was good - with great sized potions.Excellent customer service - Would go again.

The food when it came was good, but some of our starters arrived after the main course, of our party, half had finished meals almost an hour before the others got theirs. When we asked what was happening to the rest of the meals the owner came out and informed us we had "ordered it incorrectly" so it was our fault. What had been asked was for the children to have their food as soon as ready which didn't happen! It had been written down correctly as the waitress had underlined the meals that had to come out first and double checked the order. I was amazed at the very poor customer service from the owner and no apologies for what was their error. The gents and disabled toilets were also in serious need of cleaning.

15 Falmouth Road Runners ran from the Queens Arms this morning, then bundled back in for breakfast afterwards. Gary and the team looked after us splendidly! Cooked breakfasts, veggie breakfast, avo, things on toast and loads of tea & coffee. All served up by friendly and efficient staff, and no time at all. Awesome!

Having not been here in over a year we thought we would have an evening out as we had always enjoyed the food and atmosphere, sadly we were disappointed and did not end up staying for food. Firstly on entering we could not smell and food smells only a damp musty smell. We ordered drinks and were shocked at the price, over £10 for a shandy and half a glass of lime and soda. On being seated upstairs it felt chilly, the table was grubby and the light feature on the table did not work. Awful pop music playing in the background was being drowned out by the bellowing voice of the chef downstairs in the kitchen, we could hear most of what he was saying including the 'F' words. After sitting for 10 mins we realised that the dish I would be ordering (slow cooked pork belly)was obviously not cooking so would most probably have been microwaved along with the dauphinoise potatoes, and the noise of the chef and music we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Such a shame that this once lovely restaurant lacked atmosphere, fresh cooked food and respect for customers from the chef!

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.
