We had a really lovely night there, although we didn't really need the second bottle of Red! Delicious Lasagne and Chilli. Thanks go to the girl that served us, think she was called Kate? (Short blonde hair) she deserves a big salary! What a great people person, she was the glue that held a very busy night together, well done you. Booking essential, it's a busy place!

We went here twice, first time we were able to get a seat without booking but it does get very busy so I recommend booking. Service was good although the waiting staff were stretched at times but they did a fine job. The food was good and decent portion sizes. It did feel slightly cramped but not to the extent that it caused any problem for us. I’d certainly visit again.

We visited the Old Salutation Inn in August to meet our friends who live in Mevagissey whilst we were on holiday in Looe for a lunch and good catch up. We suggested the Salutation as we we have been in before for a drink and it looked lovely. It was fairly quiet when we went in, on Friday lunchtime, and we were met with a great welcome, the girls on the bar were very chatty and pleasant and made a fuss of my two lads aged 9 and 5. There was a good choice of meals on the menu, including starters and puddings. All 4 adults had steak and ale pie and it was absolutely gorgeous, home made, with a good portion, cooked great and served piping hot, and my boys had the kids burger chips and beans which also was lovely, piping hot and a great portion. We were not rushed and the bar staff kept chatting as did the customers and made us feel at home. Was lovely to have a good choice of Cornish beers and ciders and all drinks were reasonably priced, we spent £60 for 4 dinners and 6 drinks so cannot complain. We are back in Looe next summer and cannot wait to come back in again, thank you for a wonderful meal and also was a great place to catch up with our friends. I would happily recommend to anyone! Lovely pub with very friendly bar staff, also dog friendly. We had a couple of Atlantic Pale Ales here which were reasonably priced. We didn’t eat but had food envy when being nosy and looking at the food being served to a family next to us, fish and chips looked good. We ended up eating at another place which was regrettable (as it was horrid) and we should’ve stayed put and ate here instead.

We met family here early evening on a Saturday. The service was friendly and the menu was traditional with good size portions. Between us we had cottage pie, scampi and chips, ham, egg and chips, fish pie and chicken jalfrezi, all of which went down well! The bill was approximately £120 including a mix of alcoholic and soft drinks. We would consider returning if we were in the area.

The Salutation is a pub we have visited many times over the past 25 years, so back in Looe for a few days so it was on the list, booked a table for dinner. Since our last visit around 4 years ago, the place has changed hands, some of the old character has gone, did not any locals around the bar like the old days. Having said all that, we had a lovely meal, the staff were excellent, accommodated my wife who wanted just a small meal, the food arrived in a reasonable time and it was very tasty, I had the lamb hotpot, delicious, we were not rushed, very comfortable, and allowed our dog in. Despite my little whinge about change, a great evening, great food and great staff, thank you.

Popped into this pub just looking for drinks. Many of the tables were reserved and we were allowed to sit on a table that was booked for three hours after our arrival (not a problem). Very clean but lacking in atmosphere. Definitely got the impression that this is trying to be a Gastro pub or something where you only go for meals. In tomorrow will see if we can pop in for a drink, albeit the food did look very good.

Friday night and the pub was very busy which is always a good sign. Two couples with two dogs and table booked so no problem. The food is fairly standard pub fayre and very good, but I was very impressed by our welcome by all the staff and that's what makes a really good pub. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have dogs, so give it a try, but make sure you book to avoid disappointment.

The Salutation Inn has always been a favourite of mine when we visit Looe. This year we went for the New Year. As usual, the festive decorations make this pub the No.1 place to visit when in Looe at this time of year. It was AMAZING !!! The staff and owner are very friendly and it is quite comforting seeing a few usual faces sitting at the bar having a drink in the evening. The fire is just the cosiest thing ever and was lovely to come and sit beside it when it was wet and cold most evenings. We ate in there a couple of times (would have eaten in there more but they were booked up) and the food is lovely. A varied menu to suit everyone, doesn't take too long and is hot and tasty. It was lovely to stay in the pub after the food and have a few drinks there. Without doubt the best traditional pub in Looe. We always return year after year to this pub. Thanks again to all the staff and workers who make the christmas decorations so amazing. Inside and out of the pub it looks great !!!!

This is a really welcoming pub. The log fire was just gorgeous to sit by on a cold, wet January day. The food was tasty, wholesome, plentiful and of a very good quality. The four of us all really enjoyed our meals from scampi, hotpot, ham salad and ham, egg & chips. A party of 7 of us visited on a very busy Saturday night between Christmas and New Year having booked by phone earlier in the week. We arrived a little early to find a table waiting for us in the back room, which was still decorated in the classic Salutation manner. Despite how busy the restaurant was the waiting staff couldn’t have been more attentive. Drinks orders were taken regularly and always delivered correctly. The food was absolutely delicious and arrived piping hot. It was worth the short wait. The fish pie is a must. Packed with fish and flavour. You really don’t need anything extra. Our group polished every last bit off, not something that happens often. The staff were exceptional and catered to our every need attentively and quickly. We have noticed some negative comments on here when it comes to guests with young children. The couple sat near us had a baby of a few months and a dog and were welcomed with kindness and understanding. It’s a new favourite for us all and we can’t wait to come back. Thanks for a fab evening.

We visited this pub several times over a few days as a lot of restaurants are shut in Looe in Nov and I must say the women behind the bar is not very friendly. Nice friendly staff but the food is average and quite pricey. As we couldn't get in any restaurant with out booking the Old Salutation managed to squeeze us in.

Its a pub, and does great pub food: simple menu with a few specials, always a warm welcome. And you can take dogs. Its also very cosy in the winter

Pasties did not have much filling and were totally bland. Not what we expected from a genuine Cornish pasty in the heart of beautiful St. Ives! We'll try elsewhere, next time.

This building is an eye-sore really, and needs repairing and turning into something good. Maybe a pub chain, art hub, or houses for local people.

Massively overpriced lunch that did not live up to expectations. Apparently the two roasts that were had on the table were good, but the hake and mash two of us ordered that sounded delicious, was measly portioned and bland. For £27 it needs to be better. The soy butter sauce was watery and bland. The mash was oily and poorly made. The fish was cooked well but there was too little of it for that price. The barn-like dining hall wasn’t great either - last time we went (some years ago) it was still the old pub, and all the better for it. Won’t be back.

Went to watch rugby, plenty of space and good atmosphere. They did forget our food order but rectified it really quickly and we're super apologetic! Nachos for the win.
