The best restaurants serving British food in South West

The Mountain inn - Lutton Only went in for drinks on a weekend afternoon with a few friends, pub was relatively quiet, however the barman couldn’t be any ruder, when coming to a local but otherwise new pub to me I don’t expect to feel unwelcome when asking if we can “order a few drinks” for the reply to be “well that is what the bar is here for” which was served with a blunt-non jokingly manner. I wasn’t born yesterday and I do understand what a bar is and its purpose, so cheers for clarifying. Other than that, The drinks selection was good, and other staff (perhaps land lady?) were more accommodating, however the introduction to this pub unfortunately means I wouldn’t come back for another, it’s a shame because the pub itself is really nice.

We were so pleased to discover this eatery. The service was so welcoming and the food was outstanding. All home cooked. The Steak and ale pie was the best my wife has tasted. The Katsu curry was absolutely delicious. Many thanks

Good food and good beer. Excellent service and friendly locals. Can't fault it.Very reasonable prices and we all enjoyed the food. Free car park. We were allowed to bring our own birthday cake and they happily provided plates and cutlery including a board and knife for cutting the cake. Good background music.

Really disappointing visit. Given how unbusy it was don't order food at the bar, then wait, then after 30 minutes - are you interested in food? Yes - well that will be a 45 minute wait!? What!??? Another 45 minutes. I mean the weather was nice, the drinking the same as everywhere else but they clearly don't really want you to visit and certainly not eat food. I had actually looked forward to coming here, but actually it's not worth it. Find another place.

The staff were friendly and efficient. the real ale was well kept and I was impressed with the variety of non-alcoholic drinks. The reason I've given this review only three stars was the food. My wife had a chicken flat bread with some rocket and mozzarella which was a cold dish rather than the hot one that my wife expected. I had, what was called a Croque Madame, but instead of a crisply toasted ham and gruyere sandwich topped with a fried egg, what I received was a seemingly untoasted ham sandwich with some creamy stuff, which didn't have much taste topped with a fried egg. We've been visiting this lovely pub on and off for about forty years or more and this was the worst meal I've ever had here. I'm other meals served here are better, but the ones we had were not at all good. It's such a shame as I don't like giving poor reviews, especially as the Golden Lion is an old favourite of mine.

I ordered Subway through UberEats and wasn't given my cookies, on two separate ocassions, 16th and 18th of May. Zaheer Ahmed the staff at the Broad Quay subway branch was kind enough to make things right for me. Amazing employee.

Such friendly and amazing staff!! Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and decor, 100% would recommend to visit even if just for some food or some drinks with friends

Staff friendly, roast dinner was really good and not expensive.

Fantastic carvery at a reasonable price If you are over 55 have the over 55 carvery for the same price as the normal one except you can have a dessert

Very nice atmosphere. We all enjoyed our time there and the burgers we ordered were delicious. Definitely we would visit the place again.

Friendly service and great food. It is always a treat to visit The Ship.
