The Waterfront Pub and Eating House in Plymouth

A nostalgic visit back to this beautiful pub which was brought the university memories flooding back... it's still as great as ever and I will never get tired of those views over the harbour views, shame it wasn't back in the summer as the weather was typical Plymouth in November!  If you're lucky to visit in this place in the summer make sure to grab a feat outside, rewinding the years we used to sit here and drink snake bite and black every Sunday haha- the food was always great but but a bit disappointed with the Sunday lunch- so we’re the girls. we did have a late booking and the food had clearly been left out a while as we all thought it was quite dry, especially their potato's. It is a little on the pricey end of the things, particularly for that area, but the friendliness and views and the building itself still make it one of my favourite pubs and will always love returning!!

A wonderful time for the family, from 91 years of age to 2 years of age. Easy booking, very efficient and friendly service, with great food. Our server was so kind to both the kids and our elderly Mum, with such good humour and patience. The inside gave a feeling of warmth and comfort as we looked out onto the wonderful view. The food arrived promptly, was ample in it's size and satisfied all concerned. A good selection of beers satisfied my Godson and Brother-In-Law. Access for my elderly Mum was so good, very easy access to the table and the facilities. Our only regret was not bringing the dog as well! All in all an excellent experience, we have plans to return with the same group to celebrate the festive season. Thank you.

Excellent Location with some parking and good sea views .We had an early supper prior to taking the ferry to France .The food and drinks were good and the service from Josh was excellent

Appaling service, my husband and I went there to have lunch. We sat there for about 15 minutes, no one came. I went to the bar asking whether anyone was serving. It was quiet, so no reason for no one to turn up. Someone eventually did come to take our order. We ordered the chicken with crushed new potatoes and a selection of seasonal vegetables. The potatoes were lukewarm, there were 2 beans and 2 pieces of pakchoy as vegetables. The chicken was OK, the sauce very watery. I'm not a great eater but was left still hungry as the portion was minute. We then decided to have a pudding as we were both still hungry. We decided on the Belgian waffle. Very disappointing. It was very chewy and we had difficulty in getting our knife to cut it. A very disappointing lunch, we certainly won't go there again! Very expensive for what it was.

Five of us had a breakfast here today. Excellent service and food. I had the fruit pancake stack with bacon and highly recommend it. The full breakfasts and scrambled eggs with salmon were equally enjoyed. Definitely recommend for breakfast and the view is a bonus

We went on Sunday lunch time on 27 October 24. Weather was great and it was busy. We ordered an americano and a cortado. It took 30 mins to arrive and that was after a reminder at 15 mins when I was told it was being made at that time. After more chasing the coffee did arrive but it was lukewarm to cool. The waitress did offer a replacement but we could not face the misery again. ☹️

First time here met up with friends. At busy a wait but worth it great vibe.

Excellent quality food with amazing views!

Went for a family dinner in October 2024. The place was very busy when we arrived, but we were shown to our table quickly and presented with a broad menu, including some good options for the vegans in our party. Drinks were brought to the table and when we'd ordered, the service was very good. I had the cod and chips, which was actually much better than I'd anticipated as restaurants often try to over-complicate that simple dish. My only complaint was that it was very noisy in the dining room, not helped by some live, thankfully acoustic, music being performed by a young woman. I'm sure the music was lovely, but live music when I'm eating, when the noise level is already high, isn't for me.

Absolutely amazing Sunday roast. Great view of the sea. Was too cold to sit in the beer garden but had large outdoor seating area. Food was great. Service was a little slow, especially as didn’t seem too busy. Staff were nice and friendly. Good choice of drinks.

Visited The Waterfront for the first time over the weekend as a treat with my wife, and it was a great place to go and eat and drink. Lovely food, a great selection of drinks and a really good atmosphere and location. The service was really good and the prices were really reasonable. We will be looking to back for sure!

We were a party of four visiting for lunch, the restaurant and the location are beautiful with stunning views. The staff were very welcoming and professional. The food was absolutely outstanding, overall an amazing experience at this wonderful restaurant!

We had a great Sunday Roast for my daughter’s birthday. Ourselves and our dogs were made very welcome. Our waitress Carrie looked after us throughout our meal and nothing was too much trouble. Also the concierge was also excellent on our arrival and seated us early. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous location & team. A distressing incident on the beach near the Waterfront was expertly & expediently dealt with by Casey, the new manager. She was awesome in ensuring the appropriate responses & measures were taken - a complete credit to this very special venue. 🙏👏😊

Booked for 18 guests to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday. Great booking process, was able to have the cake delivered earlier in the day too. Our main server was Elliott, very attentive, always checking if we needed anything. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. The cake was brough in with candles ablaze, rounding off a great evening. Thanks to all the servers and Isobel for making the evening so great.

Some of the best food we have had (Aubergine and Steak pie mains). The waiting staff were so lovely. Pleasure to eat here.

Excellent roast and pudding would come again

I went there for a Christmas menu and to provisionally book a date and time for our Christmas meal. The food is excellent as is the service, they really make you welcome I've eaten many meals there before.

I come UK for drop my son in Exeter university, we went day visit in Plymouth beach, we fine the waterfront Resturent it was fantastic day was we had dinner it was full moon 🌕 we had awesome dinner we had beer food toffee pudding was delicious Wonderful dinner view was wonderful ❤️

Isabel was really friendly and welcoming. I think they could have had some more staff on as it was difficult to get attention because it was quite busy. But the food was good, tasty, and hot. However, there was a bit of a delay waiting for hot drinks and desserts. I like the atmosphere here, its a great venue, but the room on the far left has bad acoustics so it sounds very loud. Just be aware if you need a quieter space for those hard of hearing or struggle with over stimulation. Overall a really nice lunch out with family.

Recently a group of eight of us and a baby enjoyed dinner on a Friday night. Tori and the gang looked after us very well and we all enjoyed the food, especially the fish pie! Inside the vibe was nice and there was live music on the terrace. Well recommended!

The best service I’ve had in a long time. Beautiful fresh food, highly recommend the linguine! The restaurant itself has lovely decor and plenty to look at. Gorgeous views of the water, can’t wait to go back.

Out first time here and it was lovely. Service was OK but not great. Think they might of been short staffed on this day. Fantastic view from the outside seating.

We were well looked after by Elle, nothing was too much trouble. Great knowledge of our wine options, and good advice on the food, all round excellent service with a lovely lunch with friends before we headed to the theatre.

Elle our waitress couldn’t be any more helpful. Very efficient, polite and went out her way to make sure she answered our questions the best way she could. Food was good for a Saturday afternoon and the venue was lovely, shame that we had rain so we couldn’t sit outside and enjoy the views.

A beautiful evening overlooking the sea in good company with many friendly dog appreciating couples, families, individuals, wonderful animals both human and furry, impeccable service, fantastic food. I know that it was late in the day therefore my Spanish Chicken contained the chorizo ends, but I wouldn't have wanted them to have been thrown away as food waste, and it did taste fantastic! No complaints from the others in my party about their food and drinks, including our four legged adoptee whom made friends and played with other furries until leaving. A great venue and pub😎

India was amazing, staying calm in a chaotic atmosphere & giving excellent service. Pub was very noisy, with dogs barking and kids being allowed to scream unendingly. Food was average , the highlights being the vegetable accompaniments. Probably better if it is possible to sit outside where it might be quiet, but the food would still be average.

A lovely place for a meal, food is on the higher end of the price scale but was lovely and I feel it was worth the money. The staff were polite and friendly and were able to advise on best seats and food. Perfect for a first date experience if y9u were so inclined otherwise a nice setting for any occasion. 😉

Really enjoyed our evening meal together at The Waterfront. The staff were really accommodating to our dietary requirements, and didn’t make us feel awkward for asking lots of questions! The choice of beers on tap were great. The QR codes on the outside tables would not scan which made ordering from the table impossible.

Fabulous view, excellent friendly service, lovely food, good beer - need I say more- yes special mention for young lady who greeted us and Griffin who served us.

Came here for my father in laws birthday on Friday 6th September. We ordered 2 fish and chips, a steak and ale pie, and 4 drinks. Elle took our order and looked after us for the evening. Elle was attentive without being intrusive. We did not have to wait for long before our food came out. The fish was fresh and the batter was crunchy. The chips were perfectly crispy on the outside yet fluffy in the inside. The pie was delicious with buttery mash. We didn't have any room for dessert but all sound delicious. Atmosphere was lovely inside. Nice and relaxed. On this night, there was a singer outside and it was great. We stayed after our dinner to listen to her play a few songs with a couple more drink. Would thoroughly recommend coming here for a celebration or even just a mid weekday supper.

First Turkey dinner this year and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Will will return.

Drink and a lovely view of Plymouth Sound

We’ve been many times before and it’s been really dog friendly. We’ve always brought a blanket for her to sit on one of the bench seats before and it’s been fine. Tonight they said no to that and after we’d finished dinner and our small dog was on a lap they tried to say no to that either. We, of course, wouldn’t put her on their furniture but my own legs are my own choice. The food and wine were good as they always are - steak and ale pie tonight - delicious. Sadly service did taint an otherwise good meal. Didn’t have desert and coffee as a result.

We had a family meal at the Waterfront last night. The food was great… Especially the homemade breads and the crab linguine… The service was also brilliant. Our waitress, Milly, was very friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable about the drinks (we tried some local beers) and the food. Highly recommended!

Had a lovely roast dinner, service was excellent. Could I suggest you do a doggy dinner as my dog felt a bit left out.

Went around a year ago and loved it, but went this month and found the food more way more expensive and not nearly as good as it used to be.

Sunday last orders at the kitchen is 20.00 not 21.00 as on their website. Food excellent 👍👍👍

We'd booked, which I'd recommend as it was busy but even so the staff were attentive and friendly. I had the burger, which sounded awesome and was. And a guest beer which was really nice. The views were something else.

Had a great time, Lovely service, food was amazing apart from the roast potatoes. Very hard to cut into, especially with a butter knife. The inside had an unsual consistency. Apart from that it was lovely, will be coming back.

Booked table indoors for 3. When we got there we asked if we could sit outside instead. Which was no problem. Then it was getting quite cold and windy. So we asked if we could go back indoors. Which was also no problem. We enjoyed a fabulous meal. My husband had the crab linguine. I had fish and chips and Dad had Aberdeen Angus burger. We also enjoyed the waffles and cheesecake and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert 🍰. What a lovely time we had celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary. Thanks to all the Staff at The Waterfront, Plymouth. We will definitely be back!👍😊

A busy Sunday but a lovely Sunday lunch, attended by Coral who was attentive but unobtrusive. Would recommend you book.

The service was very good, I could not fault the staff. The layout and ambience of the pub is very good with some good tables with sea views which we were lucky to get thanks to the staff. Two people enjoyed the Spanish chicken which on the whole they said they enjoyed, though one persons chicken was reported as being very dry and they were not sure where the cheese was within it. One person enjoyed the tribute pie and mash but the carrots served on the dish were very lacking in quanity and no other vegetables were included aside from a shallot. I would expect at least two vegetables to be served with my main of pie. I had the angus beef burger which didn’t come anywhere near to meeting my standards for an £18 burger with fries. It was pretty boring, pretty dry and lacking any real punch The fries looked and tasted as if they had been cooked three times over. I was very disappointed with my meal choice, especially for the price. We shared two desserts between us which were really very good. Not cheap at £8 & £9 but they were very good. One was the clotted cream and strawberry cheesecake and the other was the Belgian waffle with caramelised banana. Not a cheap menu, and for that reason I would have expected more from the mains. The mains were all presented nicely though. Except for the burger.

Today we called on at the Waterfront in Plymouth, really hoping they would have a table for two available for Sunday lunch. We were in luck! We were served by an absolutely delightful waitress called Milly. She gave us really helpful advice about our choices for Sunday lunch and desserts. She was so professional yet friendly and really enhanced our dining experience. Our desserts were wonderful! My husband had the sticky toffee pudding and I had the Belgian waffle. Both tasted delicious and mine was presented beautifully including edible flowers which was so pretty. We will definitely visit here again. Thanks again Milly! It was lovely to meet you. 🌸

We had a lovely visit to The Waterfront. Our waitress Mia made our visit all the better. She was new but she looked after us throughout our stay. The view and setting is pretty much as good as it gets. In terms of food for our group, some dishes were excellent, others were distinctly average. Recommend the Crab and Chilli Linguini and highly recommend the Seafood platter. The steaks were not the best but the place is otherwise so good just maybe order something other than that and you’ll have a great time. Really good kids menu with everything from sausage and mash to burgers, pizzas, and pasta so you are sure to find something for the kids. I’m sure we will visit again.

Very warm welcome, very nice location. I had dinner there Sunday evening. They should hire a chef for Sundays. The map is not at all up to par with the rest.

I visited on Wednesday 14 August with my partner, my parents and 2 friends. Millie was our waitress, she was excellent. Very polite, efficient and gave excellent customer service. She is a credit to the team, it was a delight to be served by her.

Great place for a drink and light lunch

We had a lovely evening here for a family meal with our children. Atmosphere was lovely, we enjoyed the live music during our visit although we know this isn’t on all the time. Millie was excellent and looked after everything we needed and was really kind to our children. My children would highly recommend the make your own sundae from the kids menu it’s fab I was jealous as an adult!

Spectacular restaurant by the sea, with spectacular views of the lighthouse and the port. The fish & chips are delicious accompanied by a San Miguel beer. 100% recommended.

No better place to chill out and enjoy a Tribute while looking out over Plymouth Sound. The food was great and the service was excellent during a busy lunch time. I’ll be back!
