Thought we'd give this pub another go, but never again. Expensive, rude staff, yelled at me for going to the wrong bathroom even though the door was unlocked with no sign to say don't enter. Accommodation reviews might be good but these folks have zero manners and i don't care how nice the location is I won't go again.

I'm a Plymouth lad through and through, but amazingly, I have never been in this pub! I probably walk past it 4 times a week as well, listening to the piped music . And very smart and tidy t is inside and a lot smaller than I expected. Disappointingly, there was only one real ale on offer....a Jail ale, which as always is a nice pint. Nice ambience and cosy, too. I shall be back . There are so many seats outside, too, to take advantage of sitting alongside the harbour. And, it does get busy !!

I am being so serious when I write this, ordering a roast dinner from deliveroo was the best decision I've ever made. The food was incredible, they even delivered it with the apple sauce, gravy, and yorkshire pudding all packaged separately so nothing would so soggy. The pork is cooked to perfection and everything is perfectly seasoned. 10/10 roast.

Spot on, ldeally located in the Barbican plenty of things to see and do in the locality about 10 min walk into the city and 20 mins to the Hoe, stayed over 3 nights for my nephew’s graduation, fromchecking in to out a first class service from all the staff . Checking in was shown to our room and its facilities even asked if we needed help with our luggage, room well appointed with a large shower tea/coffee, a t.v. and a view over the harbour, bathroom well appointed and toiletries supplied. Didn’t eat in the actual pub (wish we had). Breakfast was superb a good selection on the menu and all food freshly cooked and tasted amazing. The whole place was spotless from top to bottom, for us there is only one place to stay when we visit the area again. The only couple of jiggles was the car parking although we did manage to park outside £13 for 24hrs via an app, and if you have mobility issues there is no lift, I want tell you what room No: we had because I want that one for myself. Thanks for a great stay hope to see you again soon.

Stayed one night in the week and we experienced no noise issues from the room although it was a busy evening in the barbican (earplugs supplied in room so guessing on a weekend it could be noisy with a nightclub next door). Room was lovely and clean and looks like it's been renovated recently. It was smartly decorated with a big tv and fridge and a good ensuite. A little hot as it was at a higher level however there was aircon in the room which was ideal. A hot breakfast included and served in a little breakfast room and not the pub itself which was very nice. Would definatley reccomend this hotel as its ideally located and we thought good value for what it is. 10/10

Went to see my Daughter's college and popped here for lunch. Looked ideal by the water and not too crowded. Very pleasant. Food was great....until I took out a long, black curly hair. Feeling a bit nauseous, I thought "accidents happen"..and I was so hungry.......but then I found another. Ugh, yeuky, yeuky, yeuk, yeuk. Took it back in to restaurant - given a refund and went back to table, hungry as a caterpillar to watch my kids eat. Keep getting replays of hair under food. A shame. Still hungry.

On that note went to breakfast at 8:00 and someone started with the loud music (Black Eyed Peas) on the outside speakers. No parking hence 1 star reduction but it's hard to fault this hotel or location other than that. The room we had was superb, furnished and decorated to a very high standard. Good but not impressive views of the Barbican because we were in an attic room so window space was limited. The bathroom was excellent and there was good storage space. Room amenities were also excellent. The hotel itself is above a pub but there's no noise from the pub, certainly on the higher floors. However we could hear the low level thumping of a nightclub nearby until the early hours but it didn't really bother us as it was April and we could close the windows. In summer, and with the windows open, it might be different. Staff, especially the younger staff, were helpful and pleasant at all times. A credit to the owners. Overall, we'd definately stay again especially as the price was reasonable for a hotel on the Barbican.

Popped in for drinks when the unrelenting rain got heavier. It's a smart looking pub with plenty of customers for a rainy Thursday afternoon. There was tennis on the TV screens, music playing and a big group enjoying the afternoon. Right on the harbour, with lots of outside seating. The good: The room was pleasant and the cleaning lady was nice, checking to ensure I had everything I needed. The location is great; downtown Plymouth is very accessible from here. The bad: Terrible staff behaviour. I went to the bar to ask the staff for help with the Wifi. The bar woman repeatedly ignored what I said or provided irrelevant responses. As I tried to show her I was inputting the correct password, she grabbed my phone from me and took it out of my sight to try log in herself. I was too stunned to protest, but I was deeply upset at having my phone removed while it was unlocked; she could have been doing anything with it. When she returned, she told me the problem was I "needed to get an iPhone" because their Wifi was not working with Android phones. What an ignorant comment - not everyone can afford an iPhone, but moreover, Android is the more popular model. I questioned her on this, but she and a colleague who rushed to her defence kept coming up with new excuses as to why the Wifi not working was my fault. I said the Wifi restriction needed to be made clear on the booking site - I was told they 'hadn't had time to update it' (more excuses). I left the interaction shaken, and still without Wifi. It would have been acceptable if they had told me the situation from the beginning and apologised, but instead they blamed me in every way possible and were rude and unprofessional. Incidentally, my Apple device also struggled to connect! I called the manager to complain. She kept trying to explain the Wifi issues. I emphasised that the Wifi was not my concern, it was the inappropriate way the staff had spoken to me and taken my phone. She made efforts to resolve the Wifi, but I was not convinced she recognised the problem with her staff's behaviour. The breakfast area could have been cleaner. I often found dirty dishes in with the clean dishes. When some guests and I got locked out of our rooms, staff said they would come help but never did (we got the doors open ourselves). I would look elsewhere before staying here again given the unacceptable staff behaviour. There is also significant noise from the party bar downstairs. Light sleepers be warned!

Friendly staff but not our choice of beer so we drink the cider. Have spent many hours here over the years sat looking over the harbour eating and drinking .Can get very busy and stupidly loud with the outside speakers later on. This year they have changed the outdoor seating it is now to tightly packed leaving barely any room to manoeuvre especially on uneven ground. I feel this is going to cause a problem for the three crowns when its crowded.

Service was great, fast and friendly, the booming speakers which were set up beside our outside table after our arrival were less pleasant! Beers ok and a reasonable choice but oh, the food! Surf and turf was 15 chips, half a dozen pieces of lukewarm scampi and an (well cooked with a nice sauce) epically tough rump steak. The cutlery could barely get through it, my teeth had no chance! Plus peas, nice. Almost twenty three quid, stick to the crisps.

We got there on the Saturday late afternoon where the pub itself was really busy and had a great atmosphere we were shown to our room by a very helpful and knowledgeable member of staff. The room was overlooking a small car park but we could still see the Barbican which was lovely. The room has been decorated to a high standard and was very comfortable and also very clean. The bed was comfortable and the room had an air conditioning unit in it which made the sleeping conditions nice and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and very quick. Spent a Monday - Thursday here in June 23. I used to live in the city but moved away for work, so know the area well. Decided to give this a try for a bit more local character. The accommodation was good, very clean and looked brand new. Nice duvet and good shower, and proper coffee maker. Water and a bathrobe and toiletries were nice touch, and a full room guide and how to contact housekeeper etc. As its an old building the stairs up were narrow and had low ceilings, but got used to it. Felt safe and secure as access was by means of 2 coded doors, on the street and internal, then door key obviously. The staff when I checked in were friendly and efficient and showed me where everything was in the room. Noise was audible outside from the bars across the harbour, but it quietened down after 11pm. The barbican area is and always was a lively place, but as said it quietened down and I had a good sleep. Wifi worked well. ( I didn't use the TV.) The breakfast staff were really lovely and friendly and the cooked breakfasts were fantastic and generous and quick. The same person who served at breakfast also looks after the rooms. When I asked at breakfast for some more coffee capsules, they were already outside my room after had finished. I will stay here again, and it was nice to have something with character.

First things first, this is a popular pub in the heart of the Barbican right next to a nightclub, so bear this in mind if you are looking for a quiet, early night on a Friday night. That being said, my room was on the top floor, and I didn't have any trouble sleeping. The route to the rooms is quirky with low celings and uneven floors, but I like that. The room was very nice indeed. It was clean, modern and had all you could need, including and iron and board, coffee machine, hair dryer, bath robe, mini fridge, tv, portable air con unit (was a bit noisy though so didnt use it). There was a nice touch with a bottle of water waiting for me. It was a small room but they managed to fit a dressing table too. Feedback would be to pay attention to little details such as the long hairs i found in one of the drawers and replace the batteries in the alarm clock as it was dead. Yes, there was an alarm clock, too. The following morning, let the pub down, though. They were clearly struggling with how busy it had been over the past few days. At least, that is what the waitress told me when she eventually got round to serving me breakfast. The breakfast was not good. The bacon was rock-hard and clearly reheated, and it was generally quite bland. All in all a good stay with a minot hick-up at breakfast. Not bad for the money.

Very nice place to stay, reasonably priced, staff are friendly, just watch out for the Niger cleaners as they like to scare you when your in your room, also the squeaky floor boards, in general nice place to stay

We ordered haddock and chips early evening. Very busy that night. The food arrived in a large stout paper carrier which was OK but the fish and chips were in a shallow brown cardboard box which had been wrapped tightly in kitchen foil. As soon as we opened the box it was obvious that both the fish batter and all the chips were soggy and damp. The box was 2/3 covered in oily maybe vinegary stains. This had the inevitable effect of reducing most of the attractions of fish and chips. The paper bag and the cardboard box are both sensible ways of keeping the chips and the batter crispy. The foil destroyed it all, even if there were good intentions of keeping it all warm. Whenever I use a chip shop, I turn away plastic carriers and decline advance salt and vinegar. Perillas or their delivery teams need to scrap the foil. About half the haddock survived in a palatable condition.
