Armado Lounge in Plymouth

Just would like to say on a Monday morning… great start to the day with lovely coffee and toast .. (PS ignore any posted negative reviews , I suggest speak to someone at the establishment if anyone has issues … you do sooo much damage to businesses posting a one off negative experience, they are doing their best these days ).We have never had a bad experience here 😎 … thank you to all here x

went for my mums birthday. Ordered burgers, waited 20 minutes to be told they ran out of buns. Waited another 25minutes and they gave us an alternative but then gave us the wrong buns anyway? Food was so mid and really expensive for the quality. Big wait time, service was very rushed and literally no recovery after having to change our order/extend the wait time.

Well, what a find! We stopped in for a drink and ended up revisiting We We stopped at the Armardo Lounge for a drink and ended up visiting three more times on our two night stay in Plymouth. The menu is brilliant with loads of choice and it caters for smaller appetites as well as larger ones. The food was delicious. We found the staff very friendly and there was a great atmosphere in the place. We loved the vibe! It just ticks all our boxes, we loved it! It's a shame they are not nearer to where we live.

Spent a really nice afternoon in the Armado Lounge, staff were really nice and friendly and welcoming

We had an impromptu meeting for my wife's birthday and 11 of us turned up to the Armardo Lounge without a reservation. Levi greeted us, and managed to put two tables together and seat us all. He was friendly, helpful and efficient. Tom, the manager, was also really helpful and friendly. Our food was good and the atmosphere in the Armardo is always convivial. Thanks to all the staff, I can recommend this place wholeheartedly, if you haven't been yet, try it, it's fab.

Walking the dog, feeling miserable so I popped in for breakfast. Had my usual, pancakes, blueberries etc. it came on a side plate, 3 pancakes on top of each other with the coulis and more than 5 but definitely less than 10 blueberries scattered on the small plate, and as for the mascarpone, that was spread thinly just about covering the top pancake ! The whole plate looked as miserable as I felt ! It tasted ok, not brilliant. If they hadn’t had enough ingredients I wish they’d have said ? But I won’t be rushing back and it was definitely not worth the money !

Lovely efficient service and tasty food

Armado Lounge is in a great location and has been decorated well. The cocktails were great, I recommend both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic pina coladas. Cocktails did take a little while to come because various staff members were completing other tasks, they were not always behind the bar but that was fine as we were not in a rush and they had other jobs to do. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Thank you.

We popped in here on our day trip to Plymouth. They are dog friendly which was good as we had brought the pooches with us. We all ordered off the app, very easy process and our dishes came quickly to say how busy they were. Everyone enjoyed them! Place is nicely decorated and warm/comfortable

Had A very satisfied family dinner ! Attracted by the beautiful lantern and Received the warm welcome in the freezing Feb. Monday night! the Tapas, fried rice and fried chicken are excellent cooked and come with great value in CHEEKY MONDAYS

We walked around Plymouth Hoe with the dogs this Sunday morning, ending at the Armados lounge on the historic Barbican a stones throw from the Mayflower steps. The all glass setting provides an amphitheatre to the bustle outside, if people watching is your thing then this is the perfect venue. The menu is diverse and very interesting with a different take on traditional cafe fair. Both breakfast meals were tasty , well presented and made with quality products. Where the lounge really scores is the staff who are clearly well trained and motivated to provide a great customer experience. Dogs welcome Great coffee Sensibly priced menu.

Excellent staff, really friendly and helpful. Offered us a water bowl for the dog, so kind. Food was delicious. Great outside space too.

If you like soggy toast and dried up baked beans this is the place for you. My wife was dissatisfied with her breakfast too. I had a Chai Latte and a freshly squeezed orange juice, they were nice.

I ordered a mocktail. I was really looking forward to it. I started drinking it to then notice it didn't take long to finish. The glass was filled up with so much ice that there was not a lot of drink in it. I was very disappointed. I informed the bar staff and they stated that this is how they are made and that they will pass my feedback to the management. They offered me another drink with less ice but expected me to pay. I will not be recommend this place for mocktails :( . However, a nice friendly calm atmosphere and good place to chat.

Only had coffee and desserts there. Churros- lovely, good coffee. It was quite busy and loudly, but that’s what to expect on Saturday afternoon, overall very good experience 👍

Excellent food, service and atmosphere on Plymouth Barbican.

We had a brilliant Saturday afternoon here. The food was tasty and hot, and very well presented, as we're the cocktails 🍹 All of the service was friendly and fun, ensuring we had everything we needed. A must to return!

Staff were super welcoming and friendly Pram friendly. Meals taste fresh and wide menu choice.

Excellent food and service, we were a big group and everyone was very happy with their meal! Highly recommend

Great food, service, value and location

Really happy with the food and service received. Ordered the Nasigoreng, Lounge Burger with Vegan cheese and back bacon on a glutin free bun and some onion rings and the vegan garlic flat bread. The Nasigoreng was amazing, with a decent kick from the chillies and the succulent prawns. The Loungue Burger was very juicy, tasty, and made to order. The staff were very accomidating for allergies which made the experiance great. The only negative I have was the vegan chocolate and raspberry torte being sold out, but I can't blame the restaurant for that as it seems so popular. All in all if you have allergies and are looking for a great place to dine, I would recommend giving this place a try.

Always incredible food in here. Infact, the past month I would say it has actually got better. Pancakes are amazing. Delicious selection of tapas, tried most of them. Staff really friendly and its always clean.

A much better experience from last, as always fantastic atmosphere and energy inside, groovy music which adds to it all! Service was impeccable from the staff, as always. Cocktails are absolutely gorgeous. Food - mouth watering, a huge improvement from the last visit, summer last year! Great variety, from tapas to burgers to a curry - tried a few options, the cowboy smash burger and aubergine parmagianno tapas dish to name a few; I would highly recommend checking this place out, whether for a light tipple or a nice sit down meal! This is THE spot! **Updated (03/01/25) - Quite poor service today, it is a Friday evening, not super super busy but waited 20 minutes for cocktails; warned at the door so I can't complain too much - 2 Passionfruit martinis, only tasted prosecco, a huge shame; a let down in comparison to the last experience. Improvement is neccesary!

Seems like a nice place, unfortunately we were stood waiting to be seated for a while before someone spoke to us and told us they were no longer serving food. Server looked at us several times before calling us over, baring in mind it was quite quiet customer wise. Alltogether, it was a nice atmosphere and hope to get to try the food soon.

They said they were short on staff when we were there so we expected to wait forever for food. The opposite was the case! Quick hot food that was very tasty. Absolutely recommended!!!

Enjoyed our visit and the food was good

Unfortunately need to start this review disappointingly, witnessed a chef twice during our visit go outside in his chef whites to have a smoke, both times just outside the door also so when he returned he brought the smell back with him. Very disappointing as before this we were having a wonderful time! On another note, cocktails were wonderful, myself and my husband had a couple cocktails and he thoroughly enjoyed the hoffmister, not found in many places.

Shown to table & tried to order via the QR code, but as there is no wifi that proved hopeless, so went to bar. Ordered coffees & tea cakes. Coffee arrived after 15 minutes & was lukewarm, tea cakes turned up 10 minutes later & were also lukewarm, both would have been fine if served together & hot!

Friendly welcoming service for us and our dog. Drinks nice and cold food nice and hot. Only 4 stars on atmosphere as it was a quiet time when we were there

Lovely staff, so welcoming and friendly. Sadly food was shocking! Belly pork was no more than a mere nibble with cold mash and gravy! And desserts on offer minimal with poor quality or availability. Wont be returning sadly.

Lovely place to visit on the Barbican

Come here lots our orders always messed up we order same thing every time a starter main and drinks the starter comes out same time as main or missing items the main comes as a small when ordered the big longe breakfast most times staff have amended the mistake and also gave complimentary drinks this time staff were rude this was our anniversary as well won't be going back

Good food choices with attention given to allergies & intolerance. Not large portions but high quality. Excellent service with great views of the harbour and surrounding areas.

My first visit was very underwhelming in fact pretty awful if I’m completely honest…however it feels like someone has had a kick in the behind and is now managing the place properly! I had the steak was surprisingly good, cocktails were excellent have been back a couple more times since and will now frequent when I am in the area. Well done guys for sorting it out!

Actually very nice meal and drink. The only annoying thing is they did a lot of offer on every day. I went there on Tuesday, the offer is if order tapas, free drink option. I did not aware of it and the stuff even did not tell me that. Finally I knew that offer, but I already paid for the meal and they did not give free drink and the stuff said as I already pain, I have no chance to get free drink. What a shame!!!+

Are here with my partner. The food is decent and reasonably priced. However don’t come here unless you have a good 4 hours or so to spare. The service is desperately slow despite not being particularly busy. Took them 15 minutes to pour a pint - somewhat frustrating watching 4 staff have a chinwag behind the bar while people wait for service.

Lovely dine in experience with a very affordable price range. Dont forget to try their harisa chicken!!!!

Barbican for the light switch in so granted, this place was busy but still some free tables. Ordered food for three. Childs meal came out completely different from what was ordered. Returned. Wife said the halloumi burger was nice. I had chicken wings which weee cold, squid which was not just over cooked but burnt and then turned out to be cold, garlic chips swimming in fat. When the child’s meal finally arrived, some of it was stone cold. The bar system is also a chaotic mess with not enough room between tables and bar, staff continually walking through, splitting the queue and apologising. Won’t bother to go back.

Had a really nice vegan breakfast, the menu in general is very good for both carnivores and herbivores. Really nice atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will come again for sure.

Had a fantastic Korean style burger , the staff were great and prices good for the quality.

Had an awful experience here before however the second visit was better. Brett served us and he was lovely. coffee is still not good but service is alot better. Had a lovely afternoon with some friends

I had a good laugh and a joke with the barman whilst my wife poured over the menu. There’s plenty of space and the prices are very reasonable.

Super jazzy atmosphere and awesome service

On the harbourside with good views of the harbour. We stopped for drinks but the food looked really appetising. All the staff were very welcoming and attentive. Thank you to you all. We have visited our lounges but loved this one and did return.

I have come here a few times and the breakfast is always really nice, the staff are really friendly and polite, however the glasses for the water can be a bit smeary and the carrot cake is so sweet you can't really taste it but other than that the food is really lovely.

Oh dear, been before a few times and enjoyed but this time bit of a let down. The place is in an excellent location on the harbour side of the Barbican. Light and airy with lots of glass and views. Easy going service and chatty staff but the food was a let down. Went for brunch and ordered pot of tea for two and two sausage muffins. Wasn't busy when we were there but had to go and ask if the order had gone through. Eventually arrived, tea not very hot and food just about luke warm. Plates were really cold so the food suffered by the time it reached the table, and sorry guys the cutlery felt it had come straight from the fridge. Really felt like the food was just bashed out with no real care for the customer.

Very stylish place. Very friendly, polite, and helpful staff. I wanted a burger, but unfortunately, they are served in a brioche bun, not for me thanks. I chose the chicken with chipotle mayo, fries, and slaw. The fries were barely warm, and the chicken was supposed to be butter cooked, but it was rock hard. I barely ate any of it. It was hard to cut with a knife, and I didn't want to break my teeth. Apparently, it's one of my two Nieces' favourite places to eat. Their mum and dad go their too. My sister told me that the fish finger butty is lovely. Maybe I should have had that.

Absolutely lovely experience, came in with my friend and had wonderful service from Amelia, Holly and Rin. Hot chocolates and food (tapas Tuesday) was wonderful and great value for money. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was disturbed by some extremely rude and aggressive customers that were whistling at the staff from across the restaurant and storming over to the bar creating a commotion. They even went as far as approaching a young member of staff and grabbing them by the wrists. Despite being shaken up, the staff handled this with the highest professionalism and once the customers had left - ensured the other customers (including us) were okay after the distribution and their experience wasn't negatively affected.

Really enjoyed our visit and went three times. Twice for lunch and breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was great and service was excellent. Can sit outside and is dog friendly. Our dog was offered a sausage which he enjoyed. Atmosphere in the lounge is nice and relaxing. Good value.

Dropped in whilst on holiday as the place had a really nice vibe. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and the menu is full of Gluten Free goodies. We will defo visit again when we are next in the area!

Staff very nice and friendly wanted the soup and tuna melt for £6.95 as this deal starting from 12 o’clock (we got there at 2 o’clock) couldn’t have this as soup wasn’t ready!! Shouldn’t advertise saying after 12 o’clock? So I ordered fries& tuna melt , wish I complained the panini had 2 bits of greenery and I’m not kidding a SLIVER of tuna that I could hardly see it!!! by the time my sisters ordered arrived (she ordered first) myself & colleague finished ours,is expensive for what you actually get which is a shame as loved the quirky lounge.

Very good overall. Music needs to be back ground so you can talk with shouting. Churros were disappointing as they were very greasy.

Two signs and incompetent staff let this place down. We were told to take a waiting table whilst a sitting-down one became available but because the signs said help yourself a table never became free because there was no queuing system in place. You cannot reserve a table under 7 people and what made it worse was the staff were using two tables during a Friday evening! No communication between staff. The drinks weren't that great and overpriced in my opinion. I will not be visiting again.

Absolutely amazing food, they have a great range of gluten free food, really quick service and the staff were all lovely. Has a great view of the Harbour.

Nice glass walled restaurant, with views out across the marina/harbour. It gets very loud and very hot properly the glass walls. Fresh made cocktails are always a bonus. No cans or premade cartons. A tad expensive for the size, especially when every other pub restaurant on the block does 2 for 1 offers. The food was ok full of flavour and very quickly delivered. Maybe too quickly. It's a chain restaurant though so you know what to expect, and you get what you expected.

Lovely, welcoming place. Food delicious and fairly priced. Non alcoholic drinks and Mocktails available (Well done)!!. Staff efficient, friendly and informative. Music slightly too loud for me but that's because I'm old 🤭 However, it did not interfere with the enjoyment of the evening. Will tell my friends and definitely dine here again.

Very warm welcome and a pleasant chat with a gentleman server , apologies I meant to get his name. Ordered x2 cooked breakfasts and coffee absolutely delicious. All staff were attentive and friendly. Restaurant is in a perfect position, we enjoyed the view of the harbour from our seats, great experience as visitors to Plymouth for the day thank you.

Great food. Toilets had no loo roll and hadn't been inspected since 10am I visited at 4pm disappointing.

Everything was excellent and staff went out if their way to optimise wheel chair access for my group. The food ordering app ran well, and the food and drinks were prepared with care and quality, really quickly. (I have a hearing disability and the piped music and reflective glass were a personal 'hearing' problem. Hence 4* atmosphere) Great place!

A wonderful place to visit with friends or family. Very welcoming a brilliant experience. I will definitely return.

Went for an evening meal whilst staying in Plymouth for a few days. Hadn't made a booking but the very friendly staff said that was no problem as there was only 2 of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was really good. It overlooks the marina and is a lovely place to eat or even just to go for a beer. Would happily go again next time we visit Plymouth.

Service is always shocking. The staff always look overwhelmed or stood chatting behind the bar. Broken glass and napkins outside. Be careful with dogs. Shame as such a nice location

Nice place to go for food and drinks

We went to the Armado lounge on the evening of Wednesday 27th of August. Not having eaten on the Barbican for several years we tried a couple of places that had stopped serving food at 7pm on an evening in August which I thought was strange. Having a dog it is a bit more difficult to eat inside,but seeing a dog through the window we went in.we were warmly welcomed and ordered drinks and food and they brought out a sausage for the dog.The food was great and the service excellent,as well as working serving food and drink Benji had taken the doors off of the bottle fridges and was cleaning them.we had a great time thanks to Benji Holly Hollie and Brett. I would recommend Armado's to everyone and look forward to going back. They also served Hoffmeister lager which I haven't drank since the 70's so it brought back memories.

Such good food and you order it all online so it’s very quick! Had an amazing time. Took my young son both times the door was opened for the pram and high chair was quickly added to the table. Lovely service every time I go!

How is this place only a 4.1, best tapas we’ve had in a long time and we love our tapas! Quick service, beautifully fresh and flavours were incredible. Really recommend, this place should be a chain!

Not a very busy evening so not bristling. Good value small plates in a relaxed atmosphere was just what we wanted. Judging by the lampshades, appears to be a part of the cosy club group? Good tapas and reasonable drinks selection.

Your standard lounge food. Good shakshuka and coffee is ok. Definitely better than most of the barbican.

We went here for breakfast. When we walked in we didn’t get welcomed, just had to find a table and order online. The portion sizes were good however the food was cold and took a long time to come out. Will not be going here again as there are a lot better quality and cheaper places on the Barbican for breakfast

Fantastic location by the sea. In the most popular area of Plymouth: -The Barbican. The restaurant staff didn't really welcome us, we helped ourselves to a table and sat down. Menus on tables and QR code to scan and order and pay. Once ordered the drinks came really fast. Although it took less time for an iced coffee than a lemonade by the glass to arrive?! Food arrived, really good tapas, nice price overall. The sandwich was incorrect but changed promptly. The menu is full of good dishes, very hard to choose from. 3 stars for the service because of the welcome, not checked back on tables for the food.

Great food, great service, love the location. But in warm weather you should not be sitting inside. We nearly melted...
