How is this place only a 4.1, best tapas we’ve had in a long time and we love our tapas! Quick service, beautifully fresh and flavours were incredible. Really recommend, this place should be a chain!

Not a very busy evening so not bristling. Good value small plates in a relaxed atmosphere was just what we wanted. Judging by the lampshades, appears to be a part of the cosy club group? Good tapas and reasonable drinks selection.

Your standard lounge food. Good shakshuka and coffee is ok. Definitely better than most of the barbican.

We went here for breakfast. When we walked in we didn’t get welcomed, just had to find a table and order online. The portion sizes were good however the food was cold and took a long time to come out. Will not be going here again as there are a lot better quality and cheaper places on the Barbican for breakfast

Fantastic location by the sea. In the most popular area of Plymouth: -The Barbican. The restaurant staff didn't really welcome us, we helped ourselves to a table and sat down. Menus on tables and QR code to scan and order and pay. Once ordered the drinks came really fast. Although it took less time for an iced coffee than a lemonade by the glass to arrive?! Food arrived, really good tapas, nice price overall. The sandwich was incorrect but changed promptly. The menu is full of good dishes, very hard to choose from. 3 stars for the service because of the welcome, not checked back on tables for the food.

Great food, great service, love the location. But in warm weather you should not be sitting inside. We nearly melted...

Good menu and good service, staff friendly

Great place for food and drink. Have been several times and the food is always fresh and excellent. Good choice of dishes on the menu, love their salad and also all day breakfast options. Cocktails are good, love the cherry Bakewell.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff

Table wasn’t cleared from the group before us, no one cleared it for our entire meal, even after bringing food and drink to the table. No toilet roll in the toilets. My partner has autism and we asked for the music to be turned down as the speaker was above our head, the music was turned down for 10 minutes before being turned back up to full volume. Food and drink was okay but fairly long wait times for the restaurant only being half full.

Why is it always so dirty in here? I would not recommend. The bar where you order is messy and the staff clearly don’t want to be here. I ordered at the bar and they seemed annoyed by it. Not good for allergies. They get annoyed and the manager actively rolled their eyes. Had a gluten free breakfast where they gave half a bread roll…. For the money you would like you would get a whole one. Missing bacon from mine and my partners. No one came to ask if we were ok and didn’t want to go back to the bar after the first encounter. Wouldn’t be surprised if they were to spit in it. The location is wasted on an awful chain restaurant.

Dirty. Toilet roll on the floor on the corridor on the way to the kitchen, which several staff members and chefs stepped round. The bar was covered in random rubbish. Empty bottles, half drunk drinks, paper. Full of mess and spills. The coffee machine had milk all over the counter. The tables were covered in empty plates. Had to move plates onto another table to sit somewhere. We were recommended lounge but now visiting would not. We decided to not order food because of this. Drank half our cold coffees and left. Better places to eat in 100 meters are Cornish bakery for light lunch. Habourside next door. The navy inn, Bonnie sante, pasta bar. To top the visit off we saw two huge rats under the counter by the front door. Not surprised due to the last of cleanliness we saw. 0 stars.

Can't fault it. Loverly food . Buttermilk chicken. Great friendly people and service. Definitely going again.

A much better experience from last, as always fantastic atmosphere and energy inside, groovy music which adds to it all! Service was impeccable from the staff, as always. Cocktails are absolutely gorgeous. Food - mouth watering, a huge improvement from the last visit, summer last year! Great variety, from tapas to burgers to a curry - tried a few options, the cowboy smash burger and aubergine parmagianno tapas dish to name a few; I would highly recommend checking this place out, whether for a light tipple or a nice sit down meal! This is THE spot!

Visited soon after opening on a Saturday - we managed to nab a table but they were filling up fast! Our food and service was very good - clear GF options on the ordering App also made our meal easier without getting up! The table next to us seemed to feel they were being ignored or given slow service which we didn't experience at all, but as they were being fairly vocal about it we couldn't help but hear about it. Would definitely visit again for it's pretty location and friendly staff!

While our meal was very nice and service fast I noticed a waitress using her hand to serve up cake and then licking her fingers between each portion. I raised this with the manager who went over and spoke to the waitress, she indicated that it was us who'd informed her and the waitress then demonstrated licking her fingers and the manager and waitress laughed! Clearly they don't take food hygiene seriously.

Love it here! It’s a beautiful spot with windows all around! Food is consistently nice! They have board games there too!

We had such a great experience at the Armado Lounge! Service is lovely, food delicious, the vintage yet modern decor makes it all very cozy. Large Gluten free options! The music was just a it loud for us, but it’s the smallest negative note I could think of. We’ll be back!

I can always rely on any of "the lounges" to be just what I am hoping for. The food and atmosphere are always great, and the staff are helpful. In terms of access, this particular restaurant in the chain does seem to have a lot more tables so it can be a bit cluttered to move around as a wheelchair user, but everywhere is level access. The one issue, which isn't their fault in the slightest, is that both entrances have cobbles all around so look out for a bumpy ride!

Great service the food was excellent (I had the shakshuka) spicy and tasty. Also ordered Bloody Mary’s which were fantastic. Don’t understand why there’s so many poor reviews?

I'm in Plymouth occasionally and then go here every day! there. One of the nicest restaurant-café in town. Great food, beautiful ambience, sensational location and view, appealing ordering method via app. I love it 🥰

Lovely atmosphere and background music, lovely wine and friendly and helpful staff. I also enjoyed a nicely presented cappuccino.

This is one of nationwide chain of restaurants. Situated on The Barbican, between The Navy pub and Capt'n Jaspers in a pedestrian zone so cars/taxis can only pick up / drop off nearby. Lovely views from the restaurant of the marina. There is an extensive menu ranging from all day breakfasts, curries, burgers to tapas & sharing platters. Desserts sounded great too, including a Banoffee Cheesecake although we didn't partake in those due to being full. We dined on a Saturday so didn't notice any offers but they do weekday lunch deals & Tapas Tuesdays. Cocktail deals are also offered. I recommend the Caribbean Cauliflower Curry & Triple Cheese Chips. Their lattes were good too. Service was efficient & friendly.

About what you expect, no real complaints, can be a bit expensive but good choice and location.

The location and ambience is great. As well as the food. There are good variety of options with a decent pricing.

Visited Monday afternoon about 3.45pm. It wasn't very busy at all, yet we had to wait around 10+ minutes to even be acknowledged and then served. We both ordered sandwiches, which at nearly £10, didn't come with any garnish or crisps or even chips. They were £3 more. I ordered a fish finger sandwich which came out in 2 halves. In one half, I got 2 fish fingers, in the other half, I got 1 fish finger. They could've at least put 2 in each half, considering the cost! Husband ordered the steak ciabatta, which he said was just ok. Both were served, on what I would call a side plate and presentation wasn't great. 2 sandwiches, one large soda and lime and 2 large cokes came to £31.50, so very expensive I thought. Concept of restaurant is very nice and laid back, but value for money isn't good at all in my eyes. Maybe add chips and salad garnish to the sandwiches and put on a proper plate. Unfortunately I wouldn't go back there. I'd try some of the pubs close by, offering 2 courses for £17 including a drink 👍Only found them afterwards. Typical 🙄

Having checked.out other venues on the Barbican, I called in for a 'solo gluten-free supper' and was immediately impressed by the staff and their attention to my needs. After a slight delay, my dinner was excellent and I enjoyed friendly service and a comfy, relaxed table in a prime waterfront location. Thank you, guys 👍

What a disaster! We ordered at the till. A life time later only a latte arrived and they forgot about the cakes. After we asked twice for the cakes, they brought something different from what I ordered. I've been offered a box to take away an unwanted slice of cake, this box never arrived. Later, after I asked to a different waiter, I've been told that the boxes ran out. Last but not least the music was too loud.

Met by an unkempt young man who was breaking up a cardboard box. He cleared a table for us. However, the table itself was left unclean and sticky. He then stood behind the bar having a shake drink. Smiled at by two young ladies who seemed to be serving. No service for 5 minutes at about noon. I'm a retired customer service professional and trained many staff over the years and conclude that all staff need training. We aren't moaners and we really wanted to enjoy this so we could recommend Armado to our family who will be here soon. Nice looking varied menu but we left as all we saw were a few staff that were behind the bar. Sad.

Terrible. Very expensive drinks. £10.80 for a glass of wine. We also had a singer who wasn't very good. Great location but slow service and super pricey.

Can't give you a rating as I only walked by but I will say from outside it looks very clean and tidy.

It's a nice atmosphere n staff are lovely, but there are not enough of them n consequently service can b slow. Coffee is good. We have only had tapas there and on both occasions the dishes were poor - the squid was very greasy n unpleasant. It's a shame about the food, because I like the place n location. I have had a reply to the above which I appreciate. They suggested that we should have said and they would have re-made the squid - of course she is right, we were just short on time on that particular occasion. To be fair when I have seen main courses come out, they do look nice. I was always going to continue to use the venue for drinks, because as I said the staff n venue are really nice. Perhaps I'll give the food another chance! Thanks for your reply.

I love this place. Always a good feel to it. Have a birthday meal here. Staff were so helpful. Were served by Jacob, Eden & Mariana who were so smiley and inviting. The food was excellent and its really reasonably priced. Will be coming back.

Love this Lounge, great views and location. Lounges have their own vegan menu which is a huge plus for myself and family.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch of chicken, bacon and avocado burger. Really great mix of ingredients including 2 different mayos and house slaw. Very generous helping of avocado plus a soft brioche bun, smoked streaky bacon, also upgraded to sweet potato fries. Tomato slice on brioche base, followed by chargrilled chicken breast, with all these other items made for a lunch that both my husband and I want to go back and experience again very soon. Really appreciate the way they have one person dedicated to cleaning tables and seating areas, it’s very reassuring to see how much trouble they go to. Service took longer than expected but it was a busy lunchtime and the meal was worth waiting for.

Lovely coffee. 2 of the lunches were ok. Bang bang cauliflower was a bit salty. Service was good staff friendly. A good position for harbour view while in there

Food was tasty but raw ordering system is clunky. Food arrived before the dri ks did, and I was in group and all the Food turned up at different times spoiling the social aspects of earig a meal with colleagues. This is not hard to get right

Great breakfast and service BUT, music stupidly loud, especially at 10 in the morning. Staff should realise that background music is just that, in the background. Seems staff have the music on loud for their own enjoyment.

Disappointing visit. We chose this resturant for its Glute free options as my daughter has celiac. 3 of 6 mains courses came out wrong or had something missing. They could only make 3 out of 12 of there cocktails and when it came to the deserts the Gluten free Sundaes weren't actually gluten free as advertised. Would have had a better more memorable experience anywhere else. Not one apologie made for all the mistakes and false advertising of there gluten free menu. This could of made my daughter extremely ill if we had of checked.

Really enjoyable visit. Food was great. 4 stars because they need more staff to be taking orders although the staff they have are brilliant but overwhelmed

I've been to better branches of lounges but this was an ok experience. My philly cheese sandwich was cold inside but hot toasted on the outside. It was tasty but would have liked it all to be at least the same temperature. Lovely vibes and atmosphere inside though. I'd give it a second chance as other experiences have been good at other branches.

Saturday mid-afternoon, busy but plenty of seats coming and going, good food

I've visited several lounges and they are normally pretty good. However, service in this one is substandard unless you use their app. I couldn't get it working on my phone. On the first night, I ordered at the bar but had to wait for a while. I had a pint of Brixton Pale Ale and a veggie burger with salad. The burger waa ok but very pricey. I returned on the following day and looked to order from the bar but was ignored. These guys keep sending me emails requesting feedback. I told the manager that the service was unacceptable and left.

Dropped in with a friend for coffee. Nice atmosphere, friendly polite staff. Nice coffee, reasonably priced.

Food was excellent, coffee needs to be much hotter not tepid.

A relaxing atmosphere and a good brunch place.

Went here on a rainy Saturday. Food was very good and service slow but we weren’t in a hurry. Unfortunately a visit to the toilets was not pleasant. Don’t know if and when they had been cleaned but they were disgusting, smelly and dirty with extremely wet floor!! This has put us off ever visiting again which is a shame as the food was very good.

Went here on rainy Saturday. Food was good but took a while to arrive but that was ok as we were not in a hurry. Location and views over Plymouth marina beautiful. Unfortunately what lets this venue down is the toilets. They had obviously not been checked or cleaned in a very long time and were disgusting, dirty and very smelly. This has put us off returning.

Bit of issue with the app ordering from the table. Chased barman as no drinks after 20 minutes. Barmen said ticket had just come through. After another 20 minutes chased and transpired the ticket was for the table behind. Had to reorder food and drinks. Pushed meal back 1 hour and when went to order desert was told kitchen closed. To their credit a lovely GM came out and listened to our experience and resolved the situation

Service initially was good, however we used the app to order our food. After a considerable wait we discovered that our order had not been through the system. It took 2 of our group to sort and as a result our food delivery was approx 40 mins later than expected. Once we had finished our main it was 9.55 and when we asked for more food we were told the kitchen was closed. The manager came out and she was lovely. She listened and agreed that we had not had a great experience. As a result she refunded our bill and gave us a bottle of wine. Her approach was great and so we felt listened to .

Good service, very welcoming staff, and a cracking bacon sarnie.

Popped in for a drink and quick snack after a long walk. It was like the staff were doing us a favour by taking our order! Bowl of fries took 35 minutes and the place was not busy. I thought our food had been forgotten so checked at the bar - I may as well have been tutted at. Good location with a nice view of the harbour, but that's all this place has going for it.

Loved my veggie burger and the coleslaw not enough chips 😔 my partners burger was a bit dry .

Bad service no one come and ask anything no one greet us. Food sucks burger is dry as Sahara desert. Such a waste for the good atmosphere. Shame.

Short haired female team member in red check shirt. Sunday 12th evening. The most rudest person I have ever met. Food was cold, no apologies for waiting times and slammed food on tables. Absolutely disgusting attitude to the table behind us. Clearly in a bad mood and projecting that negative attitude to customers for no reason. Maybe some back to basics training needed or another career as a lumberjack.

FOH lady with facial studs were very rude to a number of my colleagues. Food was good and so was the atmosphere. Shame about her poor attitude.

Great place to eat , lovely location in a Harbour . Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful . Vegan and Vegetarian Menus . The meals were excellent . Also DOG FRIENDLY

Abysmal service…left standing at the bar for over 5 mins while one member of staff had a drink in front of me, another was eating and two others just continually walked passed me without any acknowledgment or interest. DO NOT go here, they are rude and completely disinterested

What a perfect little spot. The ambience felt cosy but with a breathtaking view of the marina with floor to ceiling glass. The 2 for 1 cocktails were an absolute delight and the food was delicious. We had an age range of 1 yr-70 within our group of 5 and there was something to suit everyone. The staff were friendly, inparticular Jack who couldn't do enough. Will definitely be back.

Great place with nice decor and good food at reasonable prices. So far, I've tried the tapas selection board 3 for £12 & a full English breakfast. Both meals were well cooked, presented, and over all service was professional and pleasant. Would recommend.

Honestly one of the worst meals I've had. I had an 8oz steak but it must have lost half it's weight while cooking. Then I had a cheesecake which was like eating chewing gum and tastes of nothing. Due to the fact that you have to order on app no one actually asks if your meal is ok, I couldn't complain. Oh and they ask for a tip when you order!! Glad I declined

Visited Armado Lounge Café Bar located on the Barbican Plymouth, Fri 26/01/24 with family member & friend. Had burger chips & coleslaw with pot of tea. Meal was delicious. Waiter was friendly & checked if all satisfactory. Vegan & children's menu also available.

Finally a cool spot for young people on the barbican not only pubs and fish and chips.

The service here was absolutely terrible. Me and my boyfriend went in for breakfast over our usual spot as we’d heard some good reviews. Straight away we were not greeted at the door and had to find our own seat. I went up to the bar to order and the waitress was very rude towards me, giving a huge sigh when I ordered milkshakes. It took 40 minutes for our food to come out, other people’s food who has walked in after us came out 10 minutes tops before us. When our order eventually did arrive, my boyfriend had the wrong order but did not complain because he didn’t want to cause disruption as they were quite busy. My eggs were completely doused in pepper when I’d specified that I didn’t want pepper, and my Mac and cheese had so much grease on it it was honestly disgusting. We paid and left but will not be returning. Absolutely horrific experience

We have visited a few of the “lounge” venues - it is a chain - and this one was as good as any. Same food and drink options in each. Great location right on the Barbican waterfront. Order at table using the app and QR code or join the older, more traditional people queueing and ordering at the bar. Have to say, we ordered and received our drinks on the app before the people in the queue at the bar had even got to order. Staff coped really well on a busy brunch time and were very professional and organised but with also the personal touch. Would definitely recommend and we will be back if we are in the same area again.

Well never ever eaten my toasted tea cake before any appearance of the coffee. Unbelievable. Ok it’s busy but all the tables aren’t full. Food is great but waiting 20 minutes for a latte is poor. Sorry for the review. Our Clevedon branch is really good.

Only had a couple of bacon sandwiches. A bit overpriced and bacon was cold. As British didn't complain !

Ordered burger and chips. Burger was stone cold. Waiter was reasonably helpful and got the burger replaced with a hot one, although the chips were then missing. Didn't want to complain anymore so left feeling disappointed. Everyone else enjoyed their food.

I tried to book a table for 10 for breakfast, rang up and was told I needed to book online. I then went online and booked, and received an email saying my booking was pending but not confirmed. As we neared the day I had still heard nothing so I rang up and was told the person who dealt with bookings was ‘getting round to them’ and it would be done later that day. That was 2 days ago and I’ve still heard nothing. I can only assume that business is booming and they can afford to lose 10 covers for breakfast. Very poor and we will be booking somewhere else.

Avoid this place! Looks great inside but staff attitude is terrible. Had mouthy bartender having a paddy because we checked handle to see if the toilet he was occupying was vacant after waiting patiently. Ended up having a confrontation with him at the bar in front of everyone as he thought it was perfectly reasonable to get angry at a customer then continue arguing with them at the bar. Apparently it’s illegal to check if a toilet is locked. Won’t be returning with my family. Shame this place is let down by its staff. It looked nice from the outside. Also all three tables we wanted to sit at had dirty plates scattered on them even though it wasn’t particularly busy.

Jack was amazing, he is so friendly and kind! One of the best servers I’ve ever had, great asset to the company. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was fabulous.
