Very nice place to stay, reasonably priced, staff are friendly, just watch out for the Niger cleaners as they like to scare you when your in your room, also the squeaky floor boards, in general nice place to stay

Have been there twice in a year because it's search a great place. Clean, great staff, lovely food and drinks, including the prices. I was recently there for an England game recommended by David the catering manager and the hospitality and quality of the function room was superb. If you want a great hotel, function room and amazing facilities then this is the place for you!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Service was great. The hotel is quite handy for the barbican and the shopping centre. Found a hop on hop off bus that costs £2 to the barbican and the harbour. The hotel decor is a bit dated but the rooms are very spacious and clean. Bathroom has a 4 piece suite in. The only thing we found was not so good was the pillows and mattress.

what's good: - Elevators - Location - Parking What's not good: - - Extremely small rooms - Extremely small elevator. Enough for one person with one suitcase - terrible bed. - Extremely small bathroom. There is no place to bend... - There is no cooling or heating in the rooms - A double bed that barely fit in the room. You can leave it in one direction only - You pay a lot and get very little.

Avoid at all costs: dirty, smelly bedrooms and in poor repair. They cater mainly for cheap coach tours. On arrival, we had to wait for 2 hours to be served a plate of sandwiches in the 'lounge' with sticky, dirty tables and peeling furniture. As I have a disability, I could not simply walk into town. Then we were shown into a room with a huge step into the shower and no grab rails. I had specifically requested a disabled-friendly room with a walk-in shower. The duty manager had black rotting teeth, was defensive when I complained and had an unusual style of addressing guests - my wife was referred to as either darling or love. The beds were so uncomfortable that we both unable to sleep to around 4 am. Rooms set up for cheap coach tours with TV's padlocked to walls etc. Not a place to stay if you can avoid it.

Rooms had everything we needed. Clean, comfortable, well serviced. The bathroom has an excellent shower with plenty of pressure and hot water. I had read reviews about breakfast missing a rasher or so but I found the full breakfast to be excellent, more than enough for your average person. Parking needs to be paid for, I always find it annoying, but parking is very expensive in Plymouth, overall I enjoyed staying here. The one drawback is just about Plymouth itself - there is a nutter driving around a lot of the night in a very noisy car (duff exhaust, dump valve, etc). It must affect a lot of hotels - time to band together and get that guy off the road I think, Bring ear plugs.

We went in May 2024, my mother and I, and we were CHARMED! The service at the reception is impeccable, and a special mention to the young red-haired woman who appears in the wedding photos displayed in the entrance hall (sorry, I can't remember her name). She didn't hesitate to do that little extra that makes all the difference between a pleasant experience and an EXTRAORDINARY experience. Our stay was perfect. The hotel is close to all the attractions, without it being disturbing, since it is only one or two streets away. The history and architecture are masterful and the character is brilliantly preserved. The staircase is worth the detour. Special mention to the restaurant: the service is fast, and the dishes offered are varied. The quality and freshness are exceptional and the dining room is magnificent. I recommend it to everyone, and I will return without hesitation! Assured crush.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming hotel that dates back to 1863. Despite its age, the hotel is remarkably well-maintained, offering a unique blend of historical charm and modern comfort. It may not be a typical luxury hotel, but it has a distinct character that makes it special. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by how impeccably clean everything was. The rooms were spotless, with comfortable beds that ensured a good night’s sleep. The bathrooms were also very clean and well-equipped, providing all the necessary amenities. The hotel's kitchen and restaurant were outstanding. I had several meals there, and each one was delicious, with a great variety of dishes to choose from. The restaurant itself was well-maintained, creating a pleasant dining environment. One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. Their genuine hospitality made me feel right at home and significantly enhanced my overall experience. In summary, my stay at this historic hotel was delightful. Its well-preserved charm, combined with modern comforts and impeccable cleanliness, made for a memorable visit. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable stay.

A Night to Remember at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel’s Ballroom On the 24th of February, the Plymouth Romanian Organisation had the immense pleasure of hosting our vibrant celebration, Noaptea Dragobetelui, at the prestigious Duke of Cornwall Hotel’s Ballroom. It was an unforgettable night not only for us, the organizers, but also for our esteemed guests who enjoyed delicious meals, had a fantastic time, and danced the night away. The venue proved to be the perfect setting for such an event, blending elegance with a welcoming atmosphere that set the stage for a truly memorable evening. From the moment we began planning, the cooperation and support we received from the hotel were unparalleled. Melanie, the venue manager, was exceptionally accommodating, ensuring all our needs were met with grace and professionalism. Her assistance in organizing the menu and adapting to our specific requirements contributed significantly to the evening’s success. The Ballroom itself exudes a charm and sophistication that complemented our event’s spirit, providing a backdrop that was both visually stunning and incredibly inviting. Its spacious layout allowed our guests to comfortably enjoy the festivities, from the dining experience to the joyous dancing that filled the room with energy and laughter. We are confident that this will not be the last time we choose the Duke of Cornwall Hotel’s Ballroom for our events. It’s a venue that we wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking to create an event filled with elegance, joy, and unforgettable moments. A huge thank you to Melanie and her team for their outstanding service. We look forward to many more collaborations in the future.

Good afternoon Firstly on arrival we were given a room that was no bigger than a bed and breakfast room, the room was cramped and unwelcoming. The receptionist moved us to a larger room on the top floor once i had stated what they were charging us was in fact cheaper on booking.com even though they state it is cheaper to book direct, in fact i wanted to checkout, as i was going to move to a hotel across the road. Although more space the room itself was dated, grubby, the bathroom flooring had black staining ? The anti slip mat was perised, fit for the bin, the walls were chipped and flaking. The window in the room rattled all night long. The hotel stairways carpets are thread bare in places. The dining room has wall paper missing, there has been an attempt to hide this by placing a cool counter there but it looks like damp has set in and the walls are so high the cool counter just attracts guest to look at it. We paid for bed and breakfast which what they are charging is unsatisfactory. I myself am a vegan coeliac, there is nothing on the menu that offers vegan option, unless I removed all the meat and dairy from full breakfast option leaving me mushrooms and tomatoes The fruit is tinned and does not look appetising , yoghurt all dairy no other option No non dairy milk available As a coeliac all I could have was gluten free toast Which must have been cooked in the same toaster as other breads I did state to staff I was coeliac but still I feel not enough attention was given to this fact as I suffered a reaction and have had to endure mouth ulcers as well as coeliac reaction as a result of eating in your hotel. All cereals are full of gluten, marmalade and jams are like runny honey, y staff called it a breakfast buffet, I've seen more on offer in a supermarket cafe. The coffee is of an awful standard both in the dining area and rooms. We went out Saturday evening and when I returned at 11pm a rather abrupt and rude night staff stated I had ordered a bottle of wine to a table and not paid for it, I explained we had been out all night, he said he now had my room number and would be charging us. I did check with morning staff and thankfully we had not been charged. The experience we have had at the Duke of Cornwall has been memorable for all the wrong reasons. Your hotel is in much need of an update even to a basic standard, yes it's admirable to maintain the historical nature of the hotel, but it quit frankly smells like a charity shop. More attention should be given to people's dietary requirements be it though a medical condition such as my coeliac, or lactose intolerance people, there was nothing for them or peoples choice to be vegan. the Duke of Cornwall is not value for money, a B&B on the hoe would be a better choice. We paid over £240 to stay with you and it will be an experience never to be repeated.

Stayed here a few times for work. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. The hotel is an interesting historical building which adds some character to the rooms. Each room I stayed in was slightly different, unlike a typical chain hotel. You can choose from a cooked breakfast menu and also help yourself to some drinks/cereals etc. I had fried bread, beans, mushrooms tomatoes & toast. Parking can be extremely limited if you arrive after 5pm and a few times I have parked in the theatre car park (5minutes walk away) or on the road outside. Approximately £3 overnight (only until 8am!) with RingGO for road parking or much more at the theatre (typically about £8-10 per night).

On the face of this lovely hotel it looked impressive, How wrong we where, it is very dated an tied through out the building, bedrooms and bathrooms in desperately need of modernisation and restoration, carpets that have seen better days an have a peculiar smell. On a positive note the staff are friendly and helpful, we did eat here in the large dinner room in the evenings, we have never been so uncomfortable eating in there it was so ridiculously cold and the radiator's where very hot and not keeping the room to a amibient temperature So we never felt comfortable, our food never stayed that warm from being served to us an put on a stone marble table with no white table cloth . I couldn't honestly recommend the hotel only from our experience. But what is happening to all our hotels is the decline an the lack of investment . date of stay - Nov 10th to 12th 2021 1. Bath tap handle fell off - covid disinfectant sheets that were signed saying the taps had been cleaned and checked were..inaccurate. if they had been checked the handle wouldn't have fallen off. 2. Iron safety sticker is a year out of date. Iron base plate has something icky melted on it. There is no top to stop water coming out the top of the Iron. 3. Sheets not changed daily. 4. Inside draws and wardrobe were dirty and dusty. 5. Inside certain draws there were burn marks and gaps that allowed items to fall out. 6. Tvs only had certain channels. No BBC channels, no sat free view free channels. 7. WiFi was insecure. 8. Chair in bedroom had weird stains on the seat. 9. Door in living room didn't seem to lock. I had to place a chair and furniture behind it to make sure I had no night time visitors. 10. On checkout the receptionist couldn't be bothered to ask me if I'd had a nice time in Plymouth, had my stay been ok. She took my Door card, logged me as checked out and turned back to her desk and playing with her mobile phone. 11. Supposedly they do room service but I couldn't find a menu for food or drinks to order from. 12. No offer of a complimentary drink let alone any recompense. Not impressed. 13. Found a pubic hair under the sealed plastic covered plastic drinking glass on the morning of my leaving. I would have told the receptionist has she been at all interested in my stay. I've spent time in various countries and stayed in many hotels and the odd motel, but for the price these charge, I'd have been better sleeping under a tarp thrown over my motorcycle, or digging a hole popping up a tarp and sleeping in that. Paperwork saying the taps have been cleaned but the part of a tap falls off...... spidersense is tingling...

2 would be harsh as the staff and food are nice. Rooms are awful, unless you upgrade. We were offered a horrible dark box room, next was brighter but it is so old and dusty. Not dirty but ingrained with age. Lift was broken, could be taken in the service lift, we were on 5th floor, hubby has AF so not ideal. Travelzoo let us down a bit this time. Staff don't get tips if added to card payment. Thats a cheap move by the management in my opinion. Good location.

On arrival was greated amazingly checked in to our room which smelt like damp and when my partner checked the bedding it was stained with god knows what and also had other people hair/private hair in the bed. We were upgraded for free whilst there but did make us consider whether we would stay here again

Great Hotel which breathes the grandeur of former times. Sadly the shower was an automatic cold/hot type...

We spent a lovely 2 night stay at the Duke. We have stayed here many times, this being the first since Covid. They are doing everything possible to make everyone's stay as safe as possible. Ideal location for Sea and Shops. Breakfast excellent.

We ordered haddock and chips early evening. Very busy that night. The food arrived in a large stout paper carrier which was OK but the fish and chips were in a shallow brown cardboard box which had been wrapped tightly in kitchen foil. As soon as we opened the box it was obvious that both the fish batter and all the chips were soggy and damp. The box was 2/3 covered in oily maybe vinegary stains. This had the inevitable effect of reducing most of the attractions of fish and chips. The paper bag and the cardboard box are both sensible ways of keeping the chips and the batter crispy. The foil destroyed it all, even if there were good intentions of keeping it all warm. Whenever I use a chip shop, I turn away plastic carriers and decline advance salt and vinegar. Perillas or their delivery teams need to scrap the foil. About half the haddock survived in a palatable condition.

Perfect location in the centre of the Barbican area on a sunny Saturday afternoon sitting outside. Great atmosphere, fab music, great mixture of people enjoying themselves.
