We arrived at around 1.30 with an almost empty carpark. No one sat in the pub garden. So went in to get a few menus to be told they need to speak to the chef to see if he was able to accommodate us. For a restaurant this size and hardly anyone in it was quite suprising. Got some menus and sat outside. We all decided what we were having and ordered pritty quickly. All good no problem. 4 meals 2 children 2 adults came to £75. About average price for going out these days. Food arrived with in 20 mins. all pipping hot, chips were lovely, the children enjoyed there meals. Me and my partner both had burgers, and what a disappointment. It looked amazing but unfortunately there was no sweet chilli sauce and the burger pattys were mainly pork. which was a disappointment they were dry and flavourless. looking at reviews and pictures online and wanting to try this place for a while it was a bit of a disappointment unfortunately. There is so much that can be done with this restaurant with loads of local produce available. Can do better.

Great historic local pub. Friendly staff and people. Some nice artwork done by local artist on 2 walls and the closer you look at them the more you find which is fun. Not sure what Bogwits below is on about as there is always 1 or 2 taps of real and local ale on. Also a lot of fun when live music is on.

Lovely staff, great atmosphere. I gave the food 5 stars but didn't there to be honest. Looked great and was cheap. Great jam night with some hugely talented folk giving their all. Would love to come again though it's unlikely as we live 8 hours away and are only here to see the henge. All the other pubs we visited either lacked charm despite looking beautiful or were lacking something to make them unique. As a pub management couple we loved the effort, environment and atmosphere. You all should be proud. Best pub in Salisbury by a long way.

Travelled four hours to get to sherborne for a wedding, went on to the George for a meal all pre arranged, I was told the George was dog friendly, it was not! , I had to go outside or in another room with my dog totally missed the wedding celebrations, not to happy my dog is a toy dog would have sat on my knee no bother to anyone , funnily enough the manor house was happy to have her there for the ceremony so just be sure before you travel

We had not been to the Mary Tavy Inn for several years as our previous visits had been less than memorable. However on hearing a number of positive stories about the pub we decided to take some friends there for lunch. I have to say that it was a total success. The owners have clearly invested a great deal of money into the dining room which now looks the part and is very welcoming. There is little background noise, so conversations are easy to have without resorting to shouting. The menu is varied, interesting and reasonably priced; the atmosphere is relaxed and calm and the service was first class. The Mary Tavy Inn is now our go to pub when in the Tavistock area. Well done to the owners and thank you.

We went here for a carvery today and it was wonderful. The choice of meat was great and the amount you were given was very generous. According to several of our party the dauphinoise potatoes were amazing. The cheesy leeks were delicious. All vegetables were fresh and a fantastic choice. They were able to provide gluten free gravy for me too. The staff are great. So friendly, smiling and chatty. What I call a 'proper' pub. We sat in the beer garden for a drink afterwards which was so peaceful and beautifully maintained. Highly recommend.
