Six work colleagues met for lunch on a mid week day. Lovely table window. The food was absolutely fantastic; very well presented & good value. Posh fish & chips; faggots; & liver & bacon. All delicious. Would highly recommend.

We had an amazing meal here for my Mums 60th Birthday. We booked for 26 people aged between 2 and 63 and we all had an amazing time. The staff were brilliant as always, so attentive and friendly. We were in a private area which was lovely and we were able to come in a little earlier to decorate and surprise my mum. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff went above and beyond, it was so well organised, no one was waiting for food and we all really felt like we were being looked after. An absolutely amazing experience, thank you again to the lovely staff. We can’t wait to visit again soon!

What a delightful evening! Wonderfully cozy but contemporary country pub, the warmest welcome from staff and dogs alike, fabulous food (can highly recommend the baked Camembert and the roast duck!) and not unreasonable prices.

Honestly, one of the best pub Sunday roasts we've had in a long while! 💖 It wasn't trying to be fancy, but nonetheless, it felt special and worth every penny. Perfectly cooked and seasoned Welsh lamb, a huge Yorkshire pudding, fluffy roast potatoes, and a lovely veg selection that was also cooked to perfection, plus creamy cauliflower cheese! In addition, the peanut brownie was dreamy - generously portioned and not too sweet 👌🏽. The staff were great - friendly and efficient. The ambience was cosy and jovial. What more could you ask for? Congratulations, White Horse Inn team, you've nailed it! And we'll be telling our guests it's worth the journey to find you ⭐️

Totally innocuous pub on the side of the road but what a great find. Really cosy warm and friendly pub, just what's required on a winter's eve, and the food was outstanding .

First time visit and was not disappointed. A lovely experience. Every staff member was friendly, polite, and welcoming. We chose the "All you can eat." offer. £25 per adult, minimum of 2 adults. You choose soups, then as many starters as you wish, next the intermediate dishes, afterwards main courses with rice, and finally desserts. Portion sizes are perfect and, because you can choose so many smaller plates, your palate is constantly refreshed. Far and away the best Chines restaurant I've ever been to. The quality of the food is fantastic. I left having eaten so much without getting bored or struggling to finish. Brilliant and highly recommended. Thank you.

Had Sunday lunch here recently. This pub has 2 cosy rooms both heated by wood burning stoves. A couple of local real ales were on. The main meal is quite adequate in my view, no need for starters & sweets! You never know, they may put your weight up & will definitely put your bill up!

This place is amazing, great food and service was great too, went there for my daughter’s birthday and wasn’t disappointed will definitely be returning. Great value for money and food was all freshly cooked to order.

We stopped here for lunch at the midway point of a long walk. What a great find! Absolutely lovely food - I had fish and chips and my wife had the vegetable pie. Both were exceptionally good, as were desserts and the quality of the beer. Bit of a struggle to get back outside and carry on walking, to be honest...

Staying in the Forest of Dean and booked here on a whim...so glad we did! The food was perfect, the service was perfect, and I even bumped into General Grievous (if you know, you know.) Loved the playlist personally, but it didn't seem to quite fit the food. Wasn't a fan of the dogs but it's a dog friendly place so I can't complain about that. I get it, but they're not for everyone. Other than that...we'll be back! 🙏

A quality Sunday Roast is hard to find and thankfully the White Horse Inn has just that. Not only impressed with the presentation, the ingredients themselves were a decent quality which again, isn’t something most places offer. Portion size was spot on and the atmosphere of the place was just right. Will certainly be returning in the near future. Would recommend the topside beef Sunday roast.

Best food in the area by a country mile. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu and a large selection of gluten free options too which is a very welcome bonus. Thanks to Hayley and the rest of the team!

Takeaway was pretty awful. Fried rice was more like boiled rice, chow mien was dry and bland. I’ve eaten from here man6 times before and it was always good, not sure why the sudden loss of quality.

We were welcomed into this friendly cosy pub - the landlady kindly squeezed us in on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Food was outstanding - I had the roast lamb (delicious and local) and my partner had faggots (superb). The team couldn’t have done more and were fabulous. Will certainly seek this pub out again next time we’re in the area.

Took my Dad for his 90th birthday. Had 18 family members with us. The staff were top drawer, nothing a problem for them. The food was lovely too. Thoroughly recommend this place. We will be back. Thank you White Horse Inn.

Great Sunday lunch 😋 The decor was welcoming, and the layout gave an intimate feel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Checking with the kitchen on our many requests! The food was so tasty, with very generous portions. The meats and veg cooked to perfection 👌🏻 It's a shame that you only get an hour and a half for lunch, as we would have happily stayed on drinking, but they were justifiably fully booked. Highly recommend.

Ate here whilst on holiday in the area, an absolute hidden gem. The pork croquettes followed by the toad in the hole was perfect after a walk around Symonds Yat.

From the moment we walked through the front door we were made to feel welcome. The dining room is warm and cozy, the decor eclectic. With a choice of two menus, the bar or specials there was plenty of choice. The bar menu giving you the option to reduce your per head spend. We all opted for dishes from the specials menu!! We are a family that loves our food. Every dish was beautifully presented, well proportioned and delicious. I can whole heartedly recommend the goats cheese and pesto beignets to start and if you have a big appetite the ribeye surf and turf. There was a great choice of gluten free or gluten free adaptable options and with no gluten contamination in the fryers we could all share the fries. We only managed one dessert between six of us and were delighted with the lemon sorbet presented inside a frozen lemon. The staff were all knowledgeable and willing to help with menu suggestions, and adjustments to suit dietary requirements. Nothing was too much trouble. If you are not in the area it is worth going out of your way to enjoy dinner.

Best Sunday roast we have ever had and the benchmark is pretty high… delicious Bakewell tart for pudding. Great atmosphere and service. Highly recommended!

Found this little pub whilst we were away for the weekend , a shame as there were not many people in on a Saturday evening we were a party of 10 and I’ve got to say the food was amazing !! And the staff were friendly

We had a lovely relaxed family meal (dog included) whilst staying in the area. My son is vegetarian and has coeliac disease so we often struggle to find places that can cater for him, the staff here went out of their way to make sure he was happy and had a good meal. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. Thank you!

Came here for a Sunday dinner after walking in the Forest of Dean. I decided to go for the toad in the hole and my partner made a rogue decision of going for the monkfish curry. The food was beautiful, and we couldn’t fault it at all. The pricing was also reasonably given the location! Now service was particularly good, but is there such a thing as too fast service perhaps? Within seconds of being seated drinks orders were taken. Then when the drinks came our food order was taken. Our food then arrived within 10 minutes or so. All in all we were out within 45 minutes. We perhaps just felt a little rushed, but no real faults.

Stopped off here in passing on a rainy day. We had a warm welcome from the lady running the bar and restaurant and a nice conversation with some locals giving us advice on sightseeing. We ordered the steak pie (comes with a pint) and swapped potatoes for chips. The food was fresh with amazing chips and the pie was really lovely. One of the best meals we'd had on the holiday and for £13 was an absolute bargain, great value. Highly recommend and would return if we're back in Llandeilo again.

Hi, we came here for lunch today for (I think for the fifth time - we are fairly local to the area). Initially I was disappointed to see that the previous amazing things like beef ribs were off the menu and that it was a standard bar lunch menu. I completely understand that it is not viable to have your previous lunch menu options these days. But both the steak and ale pie and beef lasagne were absolutely delicious! The pie gravy was exceptional (your chef knows their way around cows - very reminiscent of the gravy with the lovely beef ribs). Excellent, efficient and friendly service too. And I always love your dogs. If anyone is looking for an excellent, tasty lunch, with a warm welcome, this is definitely recommended.

Family of four. We popped in on the way home from FOD on the off chance we could be seated and eat. Staff were very accommodating and found us a table. 4 roast beer dinners that were exceptionally good. The cask ales were also top notch. Staff were especially welcoming and friendly. This is a pub we visited on the off chance but will definitely be coming back and bringing friends. Diolch

A group of us 10+ stopped for drinks and coffees here last week late morning, we had a warm welcome, quick service and sat on the decking area, lovely relaxing pub with excellent coffees and a decent low 0% alcohol draught beer on tap which my CAMRA member friend was most impressed by. We didn't stop for lunch, but the food looked tasty.

Lovely Pub, stopped here as a group of 7 of us after cycling for the day around the the local area. We hadn't booked ahead as it was a last minute stop but the staff were very welcoming/accommodating for us all, really great food and a lovely garden area/decking area to enjoy a larger in the sun. My friend, my dog and I had such a fantastic night here last night. The food was excellent, I had the bacon steak and it was delicious, my mate had toad in the hole which she said was great. Fantastic service and my dog had the best night of his life, rolling around with the owners dog. She had such a clear love and understanding of dogs, we were able to really chill knowing the dog was safely running around in the secure garden with his brand new bestie, Monty. Thanks for such a great evening 😊

14 of us Had Easter Sunday lunch here, it was one of the best if not the best roast Dinners we've had out at a restaurant/pub. All the food came out together nice and hot and the roast potatoes were crispy ( rare find) kids portions we very well priced and sized. I would highly recommend

We ate here on the evening of the 23rd March. We both ordered the lamb rump with dauphinoise potatoes and roasted vegetables, which was extremely well cooked and seasoned. Compliments to the chef. I had the chocolate brownie and my husband had the mini pavlova for dessert, both were lovely. The team was polite and efficient. Would definitely recommend 👍

After a long dog walk we were hoping for somewhere to welcome us and two scruffy dogs. We could not of felt more welcome. The dogs were given treats and given lots of attention. The drinks food service all wonderful. I used to visit the pub with family over 45 years ago. So wonderful to see it still going and beautifully restored and very well presented. Beautiful pub and will be going back for meal sooner than 45 years this time.

This was my mother's favourite restaurant and we went often. Sadly she's no longer with me but I like to think of her here, enjoying great food and being fussed over by the lovely staff who treated her like a friend. This is the best Chinese food I've ever had.

Another fantastic meal at the White Horse Inn. Haley and the team do absolutely brilliant. We have been to this place on many occasions for special anniversaries birthdays and some times just to have a superb meal. Faultless every single time. We've never heard anyone have a bad meal here. Amazing

First time going here. I was dubious when I arrived as in the dark it appears to be in the middle of nowhere, but received a friendly welcome. Staff were welcoming and so helpful and the food was amazing. Definitely returning soon and will encourage others. The food itself was flavoursome, not greasy and plentiful in it's quantity.

Recently moved to the forest, the White Horse recommended by new hairdresser. What a recommendation it was. Ambience of a true Forest pub/restaurant. Lovely people, staff excellent, lovely resident dogs and the food was amazing. Not had lambs liver for some time and it did not disappoint. Wish we could have stayed for sweet but Rugby WC final calling. Will be back very soon.

Lovely food, I would really recommend coming here but make sure you book in advance as it can be very busy! We were massively under charged on our bill which we brought to their attention. Guinea Fowl was a winner!

Had a short break in the Forest of Dean and was recommended to go to this Inn to eat. Absolutely fantastic food and service. It was so good, we ate there twice on one day. And they are very dog friendly so our dogs were able to roam in their enclosed garden and play with their dogs. I really wish that this was my local!

Lovely food, really welcoming and accommodated us last minute with a small person. The resident dog (an old slow Labrador) was loitering - not menacing at all but if you have allergies or any thoughts on hygiene for a restaurant probably not ideal.

Hidden gem for great pub grub. Lovely garden for sunny days and dog friendly.

We stopped off at the White Horse Inn as we were passing through, so didn't have a reservation. On arrival, we were very happy to be allocated a table, as it looked very busy inside (even at 6pm). We treated ourselves to three courses each, and with every dish that came out, we mmmm'd and ooooh'd throughout as each mouthful was just divine. The Mackerel starter and Lamp Rump mains were stand-out dishes, both flavourful and comparable to much more expensive restaurants we have dined at. The chefs here are truly talented. The waiting staff were all friendly and efficient too, and it was very evident that everyone here works so, so hard. We will definitely be returning when next in the area. One of the best spots for a lunch or dinner for miles around.

As always the meals were perfect, our groups ages ranged from 12 years to 74 years and there was something for everyone, we were well looked after by the staff and nothing was too much trouble, I have eaten here and used the takeaway service on numerous occasions and have never found fault with any of it. Exceptionally highly rated.

Lovely little country pub..amazing food from the starter to the main. All food ingredients are source locally which is reflected in the price you pay for.. the food presentation is five-star restaurant quality. The staff are friendly. It is also dog friendly, so you can bring your doggy along or the option of meeting the lovely doggy, who come say hello. High recommended the white horse 8nn

Lovely food and good service. Really enjoyed our visit. Great if next time you can flex to making a coffee liquer when asked by guests rather than being so rigid to menu but thought food and wine were great. Will be back.
