Had a family visit to the Turmut Hoer Had a really great evening, we were made to feel really welcome at the bar by the Cheerful and helpful JP always running around trying to sort everything out and always happy to help foo as always was served well presented and as prompt as you would like for a busy Pub and Kitchen Keep up the good work JP and the front team and well done to the kitchen for always getting food out as prompt as they can

Waited over an hour for the food ordered loaded fries ... clues in the name tbh they were dry with a an almost invisible streak of sauce I asked for some sauce to be on my dry loaded fries to be told no it's a measured portion the manager refused to come out to speak to me. There was no serviettes ordered an orange juice was poured orange squash and told that's the closest we do to orange juice after 5 attempts and 2 staff members and explaining orange juice comes in a carton finally got the orange juice !!! Will never return ! None of the food was particularly nice either !

We sat outside this evening. The outdoor furniture needs replacing. And the patio slabs too. Shame they didn’t do this when the pub was refurbished recently.

Star would be 0 if i could! Glass that was given had lipstick stains on it. Ordered food for 2 people and waited an hour before being told it would take another 20 minutes. No warning that there would be a wait and no help from staff at all. Food of that quality should not take 1hour 20 minutes to make? Don’t come here if you want quick and friendly service.

It was a warm sunny day so we sat outside. We only turned up for drinks, so couldn't comment on the food. With a cold beer, it was lovely. Staff were friendly & helpful. There is free parking but you do need to put your car registration onto the tablets by the entrance and the bar. All in all it was a pleasant experience.

The food here was amazing! For a pub this place has a great team in the kitchen. Food was hot, fresh, delicious and arrived within a very respectable 20 mins Much better curry than the Indian restaurant Polash next door. Updated review. 03/30/25 Terrible experience for Mother’s Day today. Waited over two hours for our food after ordering. I had the curry feast, chicken skewer came out burnt and chewy. The children had pasta which came out sloppy and extremely over cooked (apparently the pasta is not cooked in house and comes premade???) My mother had the chicken gyro. Not a single piece of chicken on the plate but did have at least 8-9 large pieces of chicken SKIN!!! Servers and managers were all very friendly and apologetic but the kitchen staff failed massively today. Such a shame after a good experience during last visit here. Huge let down today. Kitchen staff need retraining or to be fired for sending out only chicken skin after waiting for over two hours. Kitchen manager should be replaced for buying premade pasta instead of cooking in house!

Our food was brilliant and wouldn’t expect anything less. This poor review is in relation to a separate manner. We wanted to order puddings the apple pie comes with custard and I asked the server if I could pay for extra cream as we don’t like custard and I am aware of the no swapping rules. He went to the manager Caroline who said ask the kitchen fair enough. Can I just make clear I was willing to pay for the cream the kitchen manager warren completely refused so we didn’t order the pie and someone at our table went without desert. Shocking behaviour but everyone in abbeymead has the same opinion of that place the issue isn’t the food it’s certain staff. Great job 👍🏼

Waited one and half hour for food. Waited 20 minutes to be served at the bar. Ordered mocktails and they tasted like drinking a glass of sugar. Had a refund on the drinks and waited 20 minutes to do this. All in all an unpleasant experience. Only thing good about it was the young lad that served us the food who was so apologetic.

It was our first time visiting The Turmut Hoer. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, lovely food and quick service. We had the cheesy garlic bread, southern fried chicken and breaded mushrooms starter, which was lovely. And the boss burger and the curry feast as a main, all very big portions and reasonably priced. Will definitely be revisiting. Thank you!

Good range of beers, good foid, clean, good service

Great pub food. Excellent vegetarian options on the menu and really enjoyed it. Plenty of tables and lots of people watching the football at the bar area, however that wasn’t of putting or a distraction. Plenty of TV screens to watch sport if you want. Parking was a bit tricky as not enough spaces with the shops sharing parking in same location.

It's always reasonably busy in here which goes to show they are doing something right. Good service, friendly staff. Use their app and get regular discounts/ special offers. We've had so many great meals here.

Yet again not serving food as can't keep up with demand. When they do serve it's a hour plus wait. a reward system that isn't worth using as can't order the rewards. Can't watch sport since the partial refurb as all tables always booked up, less tables than before. Refurb was poor just panting over the cracks rather than replacing anything.

Another great afternoon/evening at the turmut. Booked a table, all ready and waiting for us. Michael, who has served us on plenty of occasions, greeted us with his usual friendly smile. He is always so courteous and genuinely a friendly man, he didn’t disappoint us again with his fantastic customer service. The food was also very good and arrived promptly, we will return again

Went there for my birthday and it was the best meal I've ever been out for, the service was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was perfect aswell. The best steak I've ever had and the price for all of our food was amazing. I will be going back on a weekly basis from now on because everything was great. Well worth a visit!

After being served genuinely abolishing terrible undercooked food i got a bitter gross pint after i got fed up with the terrible angry drunk people atmosphere and terrible service i went home which i then came to find out i got a £100 parking fine, i’d rather go to marcos kebab van for a better customer service, absolute joke

Well not been here for a few years food was very good but it looks like the place needs a revamp it's out dated its now different than the last time staff where frendley it looks as it back in the 1950s been today for my 70th birthday had bit of long wait for food steak well done it was verry tuff not the best I had

Choice of food was good and the price wasn’t too high. Service at the bar was great and considering how busy the pub was it didn’t take long. I visit the Turmut-Hoer Hoer regularly to eat and socialise and can recommend it.

There wasn't anything wrong with the service overall it was just that we had ordered a Sizzling 8oz Sirloin Mixed Grill and it arrived on a normal plate, without the signature Sizzle. The person who delivered it to our table said he would check and never came back. My Old Faithful Burger and Dirty Fries were delicious as were everyone else's food so we didn't complain.

Christmas lunch at the Turmut was a very pleasant experience. Went there with 9 members of our family, the staff welcomed us at the door with a cheery greeting. The food was served hot and to a great standard. Staff were extremely helpful and made sure we were provided with the correct meals and drink. Overall I went with an open mind and was presently surprised with the standard of food and the wonderful staff. Thank you

This was our first Christmas day eating out and I'm so glad we came to the the tumuet-hoer we had such a lovely day the food was spot on and the portions were fab and great sizes. The staff were all kind and very friendly and went out there way to help. It's a big definitely that we would be having Christmas dinner here again. Thanks to Caroline and her amazing team for making our Christmas day extra special and for giving there Christmas day to provide dinner and drinks and a fab service to there community

Terrible waiting times for both drinks and food which were 25mins and 50mins respectively at 11:45am. waiter serving us decided to distribute plates of nuclear temperature in front of our 4 year old son without warning who proceeded to touch and burn himself, upon asking him should he of pre warned about the temperature of the plate he said he didn’t realise as he was using a towel to hold the plate, so asked him would he touch that plate without the towel which he declined, no apologies or acknowledgment of the situation. upon seeking clarification on where our drinks were prior to our food arriving, approached the bar to find 3no bar maids chatting amongst themselves and not even seen and order had come through. total disappointment and poorly trained staff.

Had 2 absolutely fabulous meals here this weekend. Considering how busy they were, the food was really good and piping hot. The Staff were lovely and very attentive too. Visiting family couldn't believe how great it was. Excellent value for money too. Thank you to Caroline and her Staff. We will be back soon!

Nice Sizzler pub. Looked after well. Service was okay, however staff slow to response to keep queues down at the bar. Maybe it’s the age/experience of staff but two staff walked past with empty plates then vanish into the kitchen whilst only one person on the bar. The app obviously speeds up ordering but seems a bottle neck at the bar is partially called by the app ordering. Food as good, can’t complain, steak cooked as ordered. Lots of tables seemed reserved but then never sat on? Whilst other people walked around looking for a table and then walked back out again - I’m guessing not finding a space they were looking for? If visiting please be aware the car park is tiny for the amount of covers the pub has. There is another few spaces over by Tescos etc but they are taken quickly.

Take away. Gt food and impressive presentation. All boxed beautifully. Arrvd hot!

It was way too noisy to be able to sit and enjoy nice food. We couldn't hear ourselves talk.

Very loud tables of youths, spilling into walkways causing members of staff to constantly bump into me to try to clear the tables. Unable to hear any conversation from my wife due to the excited whooping, swearing and loud chatter from the next table. Left after one drink, didn't even consider ordering food, never to return unless the management gets to grips with this behaviour. Very disappointed.

Great night last night ! Food excellent service via app fab but bar area was very busy ! Staff did amazing job but perhaps need a couple more ! X

Family visit. Slow service but not in a hurry. Recommend the scampi (double up for £2.50) Steaks are a great deal and cooked according to order which is quite unusual. Great fish and nice burgers. Curry seemed good. Some weeks later we returned for breakfast which was generally very nice but mostly not very warm except the sausages which were piping hot.

Great pub! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and a good quiz on a Wednesday! Have been visiting for the past 15 years and still class it as my local even though I don’t live in abbeymead! Would highly recommend a visit.

We first visited the Turmot-Hoer in the early 90s when we lived locally and when it first opened. Not much has changed. It was OK. September 2024...we've visited a few times since it was refurbished, and it's definitely got, and is getting better. The staff seem happier, and the service has definitely improved. The portions are excellent, possibly even a little too much. Still represents good value for money, especially when you use a Groupon deal 👍. It's a much better experience now than it was before it was refurbished thats for sure, especially at lunchtime.
