Stopped on our way home as we know the food is good and always a warm welcome. Great selection on the menu, something for everyone. Our waiter Mike was really nice and helpful.

We had vegan choices which were very good, menu had a couple of choices. Food was very nice and good value for money. We were served by Niall who did a great job, very professional and ensured we had what we needed. He did well serving all the people in our area being cheery and polite to all.

Amazing Service Had a birthday lunch at The Wheatstone today, I had the most delicious cocktail and pan fried chicken which was sooo good 😌 The services was impeccable, Lakeshia is a huge asset to The Wheatstone Team. Thank you Lakeshia for a great experience 👌

On Sun 13/04/25 as a group we were celebrating 30th birthday of our friend at Wheatstone Inn Barnwood. Niall who served us and assisted our venue was very helpful, proffesional, making sure we were happy with service and food received at all times. Everything was spot on, meals generous and delicious and place (to our positive suprise) got even nicely decorated in birthday theme on our arrival! Our birthday cake was also brought to table at the right time! To add to all - we were sat down separately from other guests which we took as a bonus as it allowed us to enjoy venue without disruption. We all had a great time and certainly can recommend place to others. We are looking forward to organising more group gatherings there in the future. Thank you Niall and all the rest of Team at Wheatstone Inn who got involved in making our party so special!

Amazing Service My birthday lunch at The Wheatstone was fantastic. We had the most delicious cocktails, followed by pan fried chicken which was sooo tasty. We booked a table for 6 of us for my Wife's birthday. We had not asked for anything special but on arrival the table and wall were completely decorated with birthday banners and balloons. What a surprise. The service from Kee and Niall was second to none. Very attentive and polite. Drink and food arrived promptly. The food was amazing. Then, when we had finished the main course, Kee turned up at the table with a birthday pudding platter. Really made my Wife's night. Thank you all. Mark and Katrina.

Lovely little pub to stop at for lunch. Service was good, food was lovely and facilities clean. What more could you ask for? I had a lovely chargrilled rump steak & my husband had the chicken duo. Plus crispy squid for starter.

Easter Sunday visit . A great experience at this restaurant, the service and care was absolutely superb. Both roast dinners were gorgeous and boiling hot , could have done with a larger gravy as I like mine swimming but apart from that I was happy. The dessert I had was so yummy , the salted caramel sundae and the Bakewell tart looked to die for ! Was a break for a journey back home to Wales so unlikely to revisit . The only downside was a family who could not control their very loud and obnoxious child , ADHD or whatever needs she had was not a reason for her behaviour , manners should be instilled . A quiet meal for us turned into an ordeal .

A lovely evening meal whilst my son was playing in a tennis tournament in Cheltenham. Great service from Elliot, attentive and professional and the food arrived very quickly and was tasty! I would definitely recommend!

Stayed in the Premier Inn next door so on a lovely Spring evening had beers here before we went into the Docks for dinner, and beers after coming back. Friendly and fair pricing.

Went for breakfast on Mothers Day. We all had a fabulous cooked breakfast, it arrived promptly and was very tasty. We sat in the Dog Friendly area and our table was laid ready for us even though we turned up a bit earlier than expected. Great service as usual.

Had a great meal, food was lovely. Kee was absolutely fantastic, even noticed that we had a birthday and brought out a cake with candle unexpectedly!! Really made the experience :)

Booked for Mother’s Day. Place rammed. Service slow -waited an hour for our starter and then a further 90 minutes for main which was so dry was inedible!!! Sent it all back. Manager apologised and promised to email us to offer us a complimentary meal….two months later we are still waiting!!!! Ruined my Mother’s Day…ended up with a subway sandwich as everywhere fully booked!!! Never again!!!

Lovely atmosphere ate there twice over the course of a week and can recommend the burgers. Staff are friendly and the food is made quickly.

Went for lunch on a Tuesday. Unfortunately the burger I ordered was burnt, and so was the bun. The “spicy” mayo it came with was not even strong enough to cover the taste. My wife’s chicken was similarly overcooked. Really disappointed for £35 (plus £20 for two rounds)

Wow what a place. Absolutely shocking. Arrived and stood around waiting to be greated and seated which took a while. Had eye contact a couple of times from bar staff but no acknowledgement. Eventually he approached but just stood looking at us. No smile no greeting. Just waited for us to speak. Call me old fashioned but in hospitality I believe you should greet the customer with at least a smile or a hello what can I get you. Anyway we asked for a table and was told to wait for the manager but decided with such a poor start to go to the greyhound down the road where three members of staff spoke to us just on ordering the first drink.

Terrible attitude from the general manager, I believe his name was Paul. Rude and condescending to both customers and staff. Food was awful quality and took ages to arrive, absolutely no apology from the so called general manager. Just told that it was busy.

The service from Elliot was very welcoming and a very helpful member of staff.

Arrived with dog knowing mid afternoon it would be quiet, what a disappointment! Struggled to get someone to guide where was dog friendly and was almost put down by having a dog - no dog treats available where advertised, asked for water seemed reluctant. Tables not cleared but seen other areas being cleaned waited 5 minutes to order food. Went for fish and chips which was ok but vegetarian option mushroom pie disappointed a few mushrooms sliced no flavour pastry bland would have complained but staff were all out vaping no one at tills will not recommend shame as we have been before and was nice.

Got served by Niall he was very friendly and so helpful. An amazing place warm and friendly staff most amazing food ever had out in a long time and reasonably priced highly recommended thanks for and amazing experience xxz

Really nice menu and specials menu. The duck burger was really good. Massive selection of starters, mains and puddings. The sticky toffee was unbelievably good. We were served by Sam who was extremely professional but cracking lots of jokes too. A credit to the pub.

Average... Staff struggled to cope with our party of eleven just for food.. Smaller portions than expected.

I came a couple of weeks ago and had a very bad experience due to a closed kitchen with no communication. Today was polar opposite with brilliant service and amazing food. Elliot was superb!

Trio of meats Sunday roast was very nice. There could’ve been a larger selection of vegetables but the meat was well cooked and tasty. The roast potatoes were also very nice.

We called in here for lunch on our way back from Forest of Dean, looks a lovely place and the staff were very nice however the food was diabolical. Possibly the worst meal I’ve ever eaten to be honest so wouldn’t recommend.

We stopped for lunch on the way up to Birmingham and it was a great meal. We eat from the two courses for £16.50 and it was superb! Will definitely come back again! Couldn’t fault the food, service or staff. Sam was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely visit again as this is a regular journey from Devon to Birmingham

Regularly eat here and receive a good service from the attentive staff. Tonight we called in for a meal only to find an extremely slow service and no specials on the menu on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately not 1 member of staff asked if the food was satisfactory and we found several items of food on both of our plates to be cold.. I think we were the lucky ones as people who were seated before we arrived still had no food. Didn’t stay for a sweet as it would have been passed our bedtime.

Good full breakfast, clean, hot and good quality produce cooked nicely. Nice atmosphere with helpful staff, all good 👍 Thanks

A nice meal ruined by being presented with a bill including £3.50 for a diet coke and £6.65 for a pint of average IPA. How Greene King can justify these prices is beyond me… needless to say we wont be going back.

Very dissapointing sunday roast. I've been many times before and had a great experience but today was by far the opposite. I had gluten free roast, the yorkshire puddings were barely cooked or edible, the veg was pretty non existent and looked like we been given whatever was left over - menu suggests seasonal greens and all we had was a little cabbage, the potatos not nuch better. Even my child who normally eats everything left pretty much their full plate of food. Ordered a side and was given something different which I said to leave to not cause a fuss but even that was inedible. My partner also said his normal roast was the worst he'd had in a longtime. Not sure what was going on today... For the price it cost for 3 roast dinnners I wish I'd stayed at home and cooked myself. Such a shame..

Booked as a birthday treat meal for the family. Arrived on time, shown to our seats to be told that the only meat available was beef. So no turkey and no pork. So no business, we left have had a lovely meal at the Toby Carvery instead. Very annoying to say is an understatement. Chose this pub because it had a high rating.

Another great meal here, we have never been let down! All the staff were very friendly, with an extra mention for Mike who was so helpful and polite. Food was amazing - we'll be back soon 🙂

Starters took 1 hour to come out, we then waited another 40 minutes for our mains to come out. The food was ok but not worth the money. One of the waiters was rude to me. The waitress was very nice. The drinks were over priced. I will not be returning.

Sammy was very patient when we were taking our time to choose our food, and was very polite, with a happy smile to myself and my partner.

We popped in for Sunday lunch on the off chance. The food was very good and the service was attentive. Good gluten-free options. Sadly, they had run out of the Yorkshire puddings, otherwise impressive, and an option for dessert, which wasn't ice cream...

My friends and I had a really nice evening at the Wheatstone. All staff were friendly and helpful, any requests were dealt with without any issues. Our server, Sam, was particularly helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. This was our first time here (another local restaurant had cancelled our reservation and we had to find somewhere else quickly). The food arrived quickly and judging by our empty plates, we all enjoyed what we ate. The drinks menu catered nicely for drivers and the restaurant was busy, but with no compromise to the Service. We would definitely come again.

Went for an evening meal with friends. I had crispy squid for a starter and it was a very generous portion and tasted delicious . The steak for my main was cooked exactly how I like it. My friend had an issue with her steak and her meal was replaced without any fuss. I had no dessert just a coffee . Our server , Sam, was so friendly and very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The other staff we had contact with were all very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place

Before I was poorly with my mental health I would have been the last out at closing time so my atmosphere review is from that point of view and not current because it would not be a fair comparison. Very busy on the night we were told there would be a 45 min wait after ordering food it arrived after 30 mins so happy with that and food was lovely no issues with service sam are waiter was top draw with the service

What a little gem! I’ve sadly found myself having to stay at the premier inn next door regularly due to a relative being in hospital. My expectations of a restaurant attached to these hotels was not high but wow how wrong I was. We hadn’t booked, as we didn’t know what time we would leave the hospital, but they accommodated us and the food was delicious. Beautifully cooked and presented, piping hot, well attended by staff to see if we required more drinks, a very good experience. Fast forward 4 days and we’re back. Again unexpected and no booking. The restaurant was extremely busy with 2 very large parties, but, again, they accommodated us with the caveat there would be a delay in our food due to the high volume of customers. That was ok as we were well attended for drinks and never really noticed the delay. Food again was delicious. We are here for 3 nights this time, we can’t book because we can’t commit to a time but I know we’ll be here every night.

Turned up on Sunday having booked a table of 4 in advance for myself and my three children. Jacob and the staff were very accommodating from when we walked in, giving my kids colouring and other activity sheets to keep them occupied. Thoroughly recommended this pub and we were lucky to have booked as they were extremely busy
