The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Very nice enjoyable laid back eatery, in a atmospheric C15th (?) restaurant with tudor style wooden decor. We liked the desserts, particularly the "Dutch" apple pie, with local dairy cream. Very relaxed place, very Wareham!

What a wonderful afternoon tea we have all enjoyed at Highfields garden centre, the table was laid beautifully and the food and cakes were delicious as were the lovely scones, (we needed doggy bags to take some home, ) there was a fantastic selection and all freshly made. The service was also fantastic and a special mention must go to Mary who made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble ,she was amazing. The only slight niggle is that the afternoon teas are only available on certain days and weekends so made booking tricky trying to get our large family together on the limited dates available. But definitely - definitely worth booking, it was a delicious treat and we all had a lovely time , definitely to be repeated again Thank you Highfields

Had few drinks here whilst staying in Truro for weekend. Everyone was really friendly, staff nice & there is a gorgeous pub dog to welcome you.

Really lovely restaurant. Very quaint and quirky inside. Service was excellent. They went over and above to accommodate one of our party who is gf. Would 100% recommend and will definitely return.

Nice selection of ales and beer garden

Having married here , this has long been one of our most favourite restaurants. However we were so surprised and disappointed to see how it's changed . Never been on such a quiet Saturday and it was sad to see the state of the pond and outdoor areas. Understand it's under new ownership but the soul of the place seemed to have gone. Food was ok , lunch deal no longer in place . We will come again to see how things go and hope that the sparkle can be brought back.

Orderd donor kebab came with extra green mold on the pitta bread phoned shop got bring it back and we will give you another one no thank you won't be ordering again

Firstly, a disappointing choice of drinks. Secondly, food was very poor, bought in, and fish (fish and chips) was nuked so it was dry and tasteless. Venison burgers were just ok, but not totally cooked through. Prices were far too high. Should have complained but we were treating family, and didn’t want to spend any longer waiting. We had dessert and coffee elsewhere.

The restaurant is a beautiful, panelled room designed for small groups and couples. The staff were always attentive and very knowledgeable. The wine and drinks choice to accompany was wide and varied, including non-alcoholic.

Food was delicious and portion sizes were good, however the prices were extortionate. Advertised as ‘two for one’ on mains but doubled in price to begin with! The pub itself is dreary and could do with a revamp. Tasty food though.

Not a good experience, dirty glasses and toilets and staff eating McDonald's takeaway behind the bar! Sadly will not return...

Love Z Hotels They have Sky which is great It’s tiny but got everything you need Slightly hard beds but it’s fine Be comfy with your partner as toilet and shower is not too private. But clean, brilliant and fun!

Went in on a Saturday lunchtime for a quick drink with a couple of female family members . Did not expect much , typical town pub . Level of service from the landlady and quality of drinks provided exceeded expectations. Superb value , will definitely go again .

An amazing friendly pub , the landlady and landlord (Hannah & Tom) make you feel so welcome . The bar staff nothing to much trouble , would definitely recommend this pub to others

When we first visited this restaurant last year, we were really impressed. The food was excellent, the staff were warm and welcoming, and we were so pleased we recommended it to friends and family. Since then, we’ve returned several times, hoping to relive that first great experience. Unfortunately, with each visit, both the food and the service have steadily declined. On our most recent trip, many of the menu items were unavailable. The staff explained there had been a missed delivery and that the restaurant was very busy, though it didn’t do much to help the situation. Our waitress seemed rather disinterested, and didn’t offer much sympathy when explaining the missing menu options. It was clear her heart wasn’t really in it. We also waited around thirty minutes just for our drinks, and when the food did arrive, the rice served with the curry was overcooked and stodgy — not exactly what we had been looking forward to. It was a disappointing visit, and sadly, we won’t be returning.
