Booked very late and missed bedroom availability in main building so stayed in showman wagon in courtyard. Was dubious about this at first but found that all was excellent. Comfortable bed, clean and all normal facilities and amenities that you’d expect from a hotel room. Hotel staff very friendly and excellent meal in lakeside restaurant. Breakfast also good and varied. A peaceful, quiet stay in beautiful surroundings. Will definitely here again

Met with family for my grandson's birthday. We had the carvery which was delicious and we have no complaints about the food however the size of the plate is ridiculous, by the time you put a yorkshire pudding on your plate there is barely any room for veg, I've actually never been to a pub with such little plates!

We stayed at Haselbury Mill for two nights. The level of service was amazing. We were visiting from San Francisco and knew that we'd have to get a taxi from the train station to Haselbury and then later to a neighbouring village. The two ladies on reception emailed me with lots of numbers for car services. When we finally had to attend a funeral service on Sunday morning, there were absolutely no taxies available so Anne, the reception, took us in her own car! Everyone was pleasant and nice and the whole place is lovely and clean. Being an interior designer, the only criticism I have, is that maybe a slight update in bedroom decor is needed (I'd gladly give management a couple of hours of free advice). Other than that, we cannot wait to return. What a wonderful team!

I went there for lunch for a day out my family, when we initially got there the barmaid was lovely. Our order was taken and we got our starters, the grilled halloumi we order was fried to start. Then we noticed bits floating in our soft drinks. When our mains came out, the waitress ( older lady with short grey hair) chucked our plates down and stormed off, when we were asking for sauces and more drinks she seemed irritated, then as we were eating we realised the two sandwiches were poorly made and small, the chilli was clearly microwaved as the rice was cold and stuck together in clumps, the tagliatelle and scampi was bland and horrible. When it came to the desserts the chocolate with meringue dessert just tasted like slightly melted chocolate on a plate. Then when we came to pay, we found out the sandwiches were not part of the 2/3 course deal so the bar maid tried to sort it out for us, but in the end they charged us an extra £10.00 ‘open food’ for no reason, we didn’t realise until we payed and left looking through the bill that there was no need for the extra £10.00 charge. Disgraceful.

I stayed in a new build called "Santa's Grotto" and couldn't find a light switch for an LED light inside. I casually mentioned that at reception and an onsite handyman went out, bought a light switch and installed it right then and there. That's a level of customer service I've never experienced. That example was the tip of a very accommodating and hospitable iceberg. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly, the breakfast buffet was delicious, and the venue itself is beautiful with a bubbling brook and many picturesque locations.

Suggested to a friend that we could go for a cream tea at Haselbury Mill as had been a few times in the past with family members for a cream tea and once an afternoon tea which we thoroughly enjoyed. The scones we had then were lovely (and quite large in size) the cakes and the sandwiches were equally delicious. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed on this occasion as received the tiniest of scones which were over baked and dry. We also received the pots of tea at least 15 minutes before the scones came out, so it was stewed! When I asked for some hot water to help rectify this a bit, was met with a very bemused look by one of your staff asking 'what did I want it in a cup?', I replied a pot which she did then get. All such a shame, hopefully this is a one off, although having just read some previous reviews perhaps not!! I did email Haselbury Mill, telling them of my disappointment, but had no reply.

Booked for a Prosecco high tea for our sisters 70th birthday treat. On arrival was met with friendly staff and our table was in the window of the barn, with a lovely view over the garden. Our tea arrived and upon first sight looked very good, plenty there. The sandwiches were great, plenty of tea and coffee, jam, cream, the lemon posset was wonderful but… oh what a let down the scones were, they were rock hard I had to ask for fresh ones, the gentleman was very polite and went off to get more. When they arrived, they were very warm so waited a bit as the cream would have melted, oh dear same thing as I think they were just microwaved as the middle of the base was again very hard, so we gave up on them, shame as the rest was great, have had cream teas at lots of other places but these scones were by far the worst, and as I had pre booked 2 months before was it too much to expect fresh scones?

Lovely Monday birthday dinner. On a wet Monday evening in Late March we went to Haselbury Mill for a birthday dinner. As we were staying locally we found most other places closed on Monday nights, or not serving food, so our choice was limited. HOWEVER, we were really pleased we chose HM as we were very well looked after by all the young wait staff. While the menu was quite limited, we all found something we wanted, and it was delicious, with four empty plates. Then a surprise candle on my dessert Choux pastry and a chocolate inscription all round the plate. A very nice atmospheric room with a lake view (really a pond to me), good service and good food. What more on a wet evening in March!

The evening went a long way to towards giving her a fabulous and unforgettable send off that she would have been so proud of because when she was alive Haselbury Mill was by far her favourite location for a Sunday Carvery The buffet and the breakfast food was out of this world for both quality and quantity and you guys at the Mill should all be very proud of yourselves. Booked here for afternoon tea for my bestie for her birthday. Price went from £15 a head to £18 a head in a week from enquiry to booking. They brought out candles and sank happy birthday which was appreciated but the afternoon tea itself was such a let down. There were 4 of us who attended and we paid £18 a head for 4 very small sandwiches and a selection of cakes. The service was dreadful as no-one asked if all ok and to see if we needed more tea, we had to ask. We asked if there were more sandwiches to be told no as that was it 1 round of sandwiches each, the fillings were cheap as cheese, egg and ham. When we were told no about the sandwiches I did say I thought there would be more for £18 a head and i just got looked at there was no apologie. We made the most of it but definitely won't be going back!

Afternoon Tea for my Birthday. 4 of us in total. They did bring out 2 pots of tea and a bottle of water. When the afternoon tea they bought it out with lit candles and sang Happy Birthday which was a nice touch and I got a glass Prosecco. Sandwiches were fresh but not enough of them! 4 tiny finger sandwiches for each person. We did ask for more but were told that is what you get. We paid a total of £72 and the fillings weren’t anything special. Cheese and chutney, egg, salmon and cream cheese and ham and mustard. No sign of prawns or anything fancy! Scones were homemade and lovely and you do get quite a lot of jam & cream, lemon cake was fresh. Victoria sponge was shop bought and the brownies were just ok. Service was non existent! No check backs. We had to ask for clean plates for the cakes and then again for more tea! When we left no one acknowledged us. Wouldn’t return.

How do you pick a restaurant in a new area? Setting, price, recommendation? Or do you look at the menu beforehand? For us, it is the latter. The 'sample' menu for Haselbury Mill offered 'rack of lamb' or 'fillet of halibut' plus 'pork tenderloin' or 'duck breast'! Great, let's book! Unfortunately, the menu presented on the night bore no resemblance at all to the advertised menu. Of course, the present pandemic has affected supply chains so one might expect a few things to be different but not one dish as advertised?? That is, at the very least, misleading. What was served instead was a very average meal without any standout flavours or creativity. The only positive was the punctual and polite service and the health and safety measures put in place, which were excellent.

We had thought that this would be in the Lakeside Restaurant but in fact it was served in the beautifully constructed and appointed tithe barn. Surely a splendid piece of architecture and setting for functions, but for us, not sure it worked as a place for a quiet Sunday lunch, with a lot of noise echoing around the building. Others may enjoy that sort of atmosphere. Our food was very good...we all enjoyed dishes from the carvery, and overall, value and service were good. One point...check your bill. The staff were efficient and friendly with a special mention for Kirsty who looked after us so well. I highly recommend the Lakeside restaurant for extremely good value for money, 5 stars all round.

This is a very reasonably price carvery in a fantastic tithe barn. We have taken friends and relatives here from all over the world, and they are always impressed. It can be noisy, with metal chairs scraping the stone floor, and it is a large venue, but the food is excellent. Tender meat, a range of traditional vegetables, a seafood bar if you prefer, and the vegetarian option gained approval too. Desserts delicious.

Every year a bunch of us old boys and girls meet our old boss in his favourite restaurant. Norman is well known to all the staff here. they look after us very well and are very helpful & friendly. My meal and my friends agreed reached a new culinary high [and it was pretty good before]. The lamb, the fish, the duck, the steak etc were all praised and delicious. My starter of king prawns was amazing the batter so light and crispy the sauce with just the right amount of spice. My duck was cooked just as I requested. Unfortunately having had a two course full breakfast on this Tuesday I could not find room for a dessert. Prices are up a little, but are still very good and I think for a restaurant of this quality very reasonable. I hope I make it back in 2020.

Stumbled across this little gem when on holiday and we were looking for somewhere to take my Nan on her 81st bday, but we had a dog. Not a problem, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea and our little Yorkie sat on a chair sleeping the whole time. Waitress was polite, other staff equally pleasant. My Nan said best afternoon tea she’s ever had.

I had supper here last evening with my family. The service was excellent, prompt and friendly, even though it was a very busy evening. We ordered from the pub menu and were not disappointed, we choose potato skins and whitebait to start followed by two of their exceptional and large pizzas. This pub is well worth a visit, it has a warm welcoming atmosphere and the food and drinks are very well priced. We will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends.

We booked based on all reviews but were very disappointed with the food. They only offered one type of beef that was cooked very rare with blood dripping from the meat. You would have thought that they would offer a type that was cooked more to well done but no. In addition to this the vegetables and potatoes were hard, and some were inedible. When we went to pay it seemed like the head of house was too busy chatting to friends rather than serving us, as we were not asked if we enjoyed our meal, or anything else. To cut a long story short I cannot see us returning to eat here, poor service etc, cannot believe the so many good reviews. I have had better pub meals than this place, and certainly better carverys for the price.

In Somerset for 2 weeks holiday, found this wonderful venue after 5 days of trying the local pub meals and a restaurant, what a wonderful surprise to find such a beautiful place in a lovely setting, and a great meals in both the main restaurant and Windy Millers where we had really good service from all the staff and really tasty meals (the cider battered fish is to die for) I wish it was nearer to us so I could take the family for a special meal there. Next time we're in the area we will be sure to visit again

We visited for the first time on a hot July day. The venue is beautiful and the service was excellent. We settle for the fixed price lunch menu. The adults menu was adequate and food well cooked but main course could have been served with with more vegetables.

We ended up sat upstairs in the loft instead of the lakeside restaurant but that didnt matter at all. The food was simply amazing. The portions were large and the food was amazingly well cooked and delicious. There were some incredible desserts and a lovely selection of aged cider brandies on offer. A great place.

We sniffed out this little number and were not disappointed. Although there was a wedding party that night we had been advised about, they sat us up upstairs in this cosy little room. We could not fault the food or the Service, thank you for helping to make our stay in Dorset all that more memorable.

Having just got back from our meal at Haselbury Mill I had to give a review, the food was excellent and the service was top notch. We were served by Ty who paid real attention to detail and provided new cutlery for my mum without her even asking and made sure she got the right gluten free option, very attentive and friendly. As was Ann who gave us details on their carvery on Sundays and lots more going on. It's got a nice relaxed atmosphere and plently of space for us to plop down and have our meal.

I have to follow a Gluten Free Diet which can cause me huge problems if I don't eat gluten free. Would like to thank Haselbury Mill with special thanks to Roger Bastable for ensuring that I had gluten free food. If you are gluten free, let them know in advance and you will have a good, safe visit in the midst of the Somerset countryside.
