Great little traditional pub. Allen is an excellent host very welcoming and service is great. Locals are very friendly not like some local boozers. Just a pity it wasn't closer to where I live as it would definitely be my local.

Warning for Vegetarians. First impression, it seems like a pub for regulars who appear to like it. The restaurant is dark and gloomy; needs a good clean, doesn't seem to have changed since the 70s. Went for Sunday lunch: the positive is that the food was good and plentiful. However, not at all interesting for vegetarians. There is no alternative to the meat, just a plate of dry veg with undercooked brocoli and overcooked potatoes that looked like pieces of charcoal which seemed to have been selected for the vegetarians as the veg on the other plates was fine I would have complained but had gone as guests of another couple. Would be fairer to say vegetarians are not catered for. Will leave it to the regulars in the future. I don't think the landlord will miss us as he had a disinterested, couldn't-care-less attitude. Overall 3 stars. 4 for food, loose one for vegetarians, 4 for table service, the server was good. 2 for atmosphere and overall ambience.

Lovely quaint pub, the food here was lovely.Friendly staff and a great pub atmosphere that you don’t see very much. Nice to be in a traditional pub rather than a chain!

Wife and I had fillet steak with trimmings chunky steak chips! We eat here regularly but this week steak was exceptionally good. Looking forward to Sunday roast best in town most of the veg are fresh not frozen. Well done Alan (landlord).

Pub itself was ok. Dogs allowed in bar not restaurant. Restaurant looked dark and dingy and old fashioned. Ordered a coke, was asked if we wanted a can of proper coke for £2 or a pint of fake cola for £2.50.. we opted with fake which wasn't actually too bad. Was told 2 4 1 on meals but prices were exorbitant. Gammon was £20 and steaks from £28 upwards. Even a Southern fried chicken burger was £20!! Prices had been put up to reflect 2 4 1 so you weren't getting any offer. Free parking very limited but there is a pay and display right by it. Wont be going back personally.

The Masons has the look and feel of a locals pub, one i don't often visit to be honest. A little dark and dingy but this is a respected local, that does a very good and popular sunday roast. It's a bit of a blast from the past, reminding me of pubs back in the late 70's, early 80s, with a public bar and separate old style lounge area. Shows the sports, has strong links with local cricket. Small terraced beer garden with a rather industrial shelter in it. Some parking out the back.

An absolute gem. Great service and phenomenal food! The chicken was melt in your mouth. Thank you so much for such a great meal.

I can not comment on the food here... I never eaten here due to the facts I walked in to order a meal here and was asked if I booked a table for a Sunday lunch I reply no and the barmen said if u haven't booked a table u can't eat here as we are fully booked I ordered a pint and looked at the dinning area and low and behold only 2 people eating in there hardly fully booked do not eat here guys unless u have time to phone up to book a table in a half empty pub blood ridiculous. I do not recommend this place at all the whole pub could do with a refurbishment and there's much nicer pubs and more reasonable ones with a much better view on babbacome downs which I highly recommend.

The barman/leaseholder was rude, served sub par food, and charged as he wishes. No spirits were measured, just poured by eye, poorly. Let alone the fact he charged me more than my better half for the same round. We brought 25 people in drinking (with notice) and expected better. Apparently it USED to be a good watering hole....

Enjoyed a large family gathering here. Couldn't fault the place.

What a find! You won't find a better quality roast dinner for a tenner on a Sunday. Good choice of meats, plenty of it on the plate. Lovely roast potatoes and gravy and the veg was excellent. You could tell everything was home made from scratch. Little touches like smoked bacon in the creamed leeks, quality cheese sauce on the cauliflower cheese, honey roasted carrots. Highly recommend.

What a great place! Proper locals pub, but we were made comfortable by the landlord (?) serving and the locals in the bar at the time who were super helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back! From the couple staying at the care home 😂

Simply wow. What a hidden gem. Fantastic Sunday roast and dessert and very friendly professional staff. I would highly recommend paying this place a visit if you're in the area. Speaking as a landlord this is one of those places that keeps the traditional British pub alive

We have been a couple of times lately on a sunday for traditional plated roast . The food is exceptional, just like home made and very reasonably priced . Desserts available from £3 . I had salted caramel cheesecake , was fabulous . Well worth a visit , probably best to book .

I only went there for take aways during Covid 19 - I ordered Chicken pies- they were ok - best chicken pie I have ever tried in my life - I returned few other times - Price was excellent- the owner was friendly and helped me with the packaging as I was in my bicycle most of the time - The only reason why I am rating 4 stars instead of 5 is because soon after the chicken pies were taken off the menu - as I have tried to get new orders but they weren't available anymore - I have never returned again since- but the experience I had was positive.

A land lord that has been successfully providing a friendly atmosphere of a traditional public house. Also rated as one the best places in the tq1 area's for quality steak meals,in fact 2 4 1.

Just had a very nice "real" 2 slices of pork with a tasty, good value Sunday roast. I can thoroughly recommend this and sitting outside was nice and peaceful. Also, as single lady I did not feel uncomfortable. Thank you Joy Sturgess.

A very nice and traditional locals' pub. No real ales but decent kegs, bottled beers and wines. Lovely crew and exceptional mid week food deal. Absolutely beautiful rear garden display in summer.🇬🇧🇳🇿🌻🇺🇦

We both had rump steak, cooked to perfection, Service was very good, menu was quite extensive without being overbearing. All in all you will not be disappointed.

New Years Eve in a popular pub that’s run out of beer but graced with Patsy who makes everyone feel wonderful has made my year. The world needs more Patsys! The wild hare beer was a lowly second best.

Didn't eat there but food looked good,,only disappointment was that it cost me £5.50.for double gin & tonic outside but £7.50 inside so be aware of price difference.

The usual friendly welcome and service all night. The food was plentiful, well presented and very tasty. Will be returning for sure.

Advertising as two for one meals. But prices are ridiculous. Example : A ribeye steak £30 ! Scampi, chips and peas £16 ! Belly pork, mash and cabbage £19 ! Only six items available on the menu. The whole place could do with a deep clean too. The smell of urine in the gents toilet was so acrid, it made the eyes water. Avoid.

Went looking to watch football what a welcome we had staff extremely friendly and couldn't do enough, regulars also made us welcome on arrival tables in bar by TV was taken so the owner put a TV on in the lounge on for us then gave us a shout when table became available by the bigger TV in bar what a welcome we received , we went back the following day we didn't want to leave.

Pre-booked for 6. Did not get served until 7 despite there being lots of tables available socially distanced. Ordered Ribs from the board, only to be told that it was unavailable. Went for the burger which came with shop bought fries (not chunky chips) and shop bought onion rings (not proper rings). For £16 I would have thought it would serve better food. The Manager recommended a bottle of Merlot and it was terrible. Could buy a better £5 bottle from Savers. This was a birthday meal, so disappointing

Nice pub been a few times always nice and friendly and the beer is good

We are regulars to the Masons Arms on Sunday over the past few years and decided to go in the midweek. ( which is two for one amazing value) We both had Ollie's Combo a real feast, the ribs were exceptional and the steak was very succulant with a great taste !!! 10/10 superb service as ever and we look forward to returning soon.

Excellent portion, home-made and wonderful service. 2 for 1 offer on all meals. Go. Give it a go.

Had a sunday lunch here last week with friends . Was amazed at how good it was . Great portion and only £7 ! All home cooked including the chicken and beef Will be going again , especially as they do a 2 for 1 deal in the week Well recommended

On week days 2 for 1 meal deal. A traditional locals' pub. Very good food but our friends were disappointed as they were expecting proper chips not French fries. A new chef apparently. Lovely waitress. Beautiful garden out back. Very pleased sauces came in side dishes and not the impossible and ghastly plastic sachets so often prevalent at the moment.

Just love The Masons Arms, it’s a must do when on our annual holiday to Babbacombe. I had the hand made pie with mash, delicious, and a healthy portion was served. 2 for 1 deal all the time, very good value for tasty hot , fresh meals. Excellent waiting staff,

Excellent Food and Atmosphere the locals are very friendly. Very good courtyard out back. We were able to watch the FA cup final and the England Ireland Cricket match. We also meet up with one the umpire of Babbacombe cricket club who is a legend. Kenny.

We have been meaning to try this pub and with our usual local still shut following lockdown popped in yesterday evening on a recommendation. What kept us so long? A traditional locals' pub with separate public and lounge bars, a rarety these days. Dining area beyond the lounge bar and food smelt good. We took our drinks out into the rear terraced garden and what a beautiful space! Packed with blooming flowers and bathed in sunshine on a sunny day. Rear covered area. My only disappointment was keg beers only but will not stop us from returning!

Lovely Sunday lunch. Well run pub. Coors light and they take AMEX. Popular with the locals, outside seating, car park. What more could you want?

Ordered 2 rump steaks. 1 was ok the other was very fatty, couldn't cut it with the steak knife.

Superb all round, excellent food and delivery. Highly recommend. There were a large group of us and feedback has been excellent. A lovely afternoon lunch with a nice atmosphere.. A lovely friendly group from Plainmoor Pool, try our classes.

Went with a swimming group for our Christmas meal, excellent - prompt service, great food, lovely atmosphere - will look forward to going again. Thanks to all the staff for making out meal special.

Went here tonight as on a mini break in Torquay - Home made chicken and mushroom pie from the specials on 241 during the week very good (otherwise expensive) so we enjoyed. However it may be true that unless they know you, the owners and staff just don’t care??? - they are not friendly and did not ask how we found our meal. No music / atmosphere. It must be that the owners/staff rely on weekend locals, as for non locals perhaps they aren’t welcome! Strange.

Have been on a few occasions now super value for money one of the best Sunday roasts in the bay super attentive service. Will be back to try two for one deal !!

Good tasting pub food at very good prices. We had the full Sunday roast was lovely. Booked for 13. 30 Sunday. Crowded at that time Emptied out a fair bit by 15.00.

A great 2 for 1 food offer is regularly on here. It's typical pub grub so you get what you expect. The toilets need some refurbishment and the landlord doesn't really provide the warmest welcome!!

Me & my husband have been here now 3/4 times with family who visit us down here & every single time ... we’ve been really impressed with the food! Steaks cooked to perfection, absolutely brilliant sized portions and puddings just £2.50!! We will Defo be returning

Decided to try this Pub as its one on Meercat 2 for 1 app. Landlord is the most unfriendly bloke i have ever come across. Bar in dining room side was plied high with loaves bread. And that was 6.30 in the evening. Eventually we were shown to a table. Then waited 15 mins to be given menu. Not asked if we wanted any drinks. When i asked about drinks was told go to the bar and get one. Decor and carpet was well dated dark and with sticky tables. The toilets have to be the worse i have ever come across. The whole pub was filthy dirty. I shall be contacting Meercat to ask how they get accepted with them. The food was nothing to write home about. Last night was 2 for 1 but if not food was way over priced Cottage pie £16 each. We were however able to pay by card. The loud and leary locals are welcome to this hovel

Huge plates of very well cooked food. 241 deal makes this a really reasonable place to eat.

Came up on Sunday for a birthday meal we had roast dinner nice to have a good choice of meats and lovely fresh vegetables definitely visit again as the bar staff and the waitress ( Louise) was so nice she definitely knew her job was a very good choice To go there thank you very much x

Good food at a good price good service uncomfortable chairs

This is the sort of place that you could decide not to go into but if that is the case then you are missing out on some brilliant home cook style food. Had the liver and bacon with mash potato. The flavours were excellent and the quantity for the price was unbelievable. If you go on one of the 2 4 1 nights even the steaks and meal combo’s are included then it becomes a no brainier. Excellent food at wallet friendly prices.

We visit the masons arms every now and again and find it one of the best value for money Sunday roast venues. My wife's brother is currently down visiting us so we took him there and he was amazed at the value/portion size given. Alan the owner is always friendly and welcoming, top Mark's also to all the staff.

Great food at excellent prices..make sure you book in advance for Sunday dinner. Beer prices a good . Roast start from £6 upto £10 which is a massive feast!!! All food is fresh 😄 Alan and his staff a personable and tentative. Make sure you take cash as there is no facility to pay by cash. Cash points at Tesco and in Reddenhill road. Also parking at the rear and a beer garden 😁

This is just the type of place we like to stay.A local in where one can meet the locals in the bar with a good restaurant and comfortable rooms … and loads of atmosphere.Booked to eat here just for one night and, although the standard menu looked a bit ordinary, the daily specials were superb and we all had an excellent meal (swordfish in lobster sauce - to die for).Breakfast was also very good although we could have done with abit more fruit.

Beautiful well presented and very tasty food, quiet and pleasant atmosphere.. More than good sized portions, plenty to choose from..
