Most reliable place in Torquay, always get great food and service, on the occasions things haven’t been right they have always gone over and above to resolve, will be back!

After a difficult and sad morning ,saying a final goodbye to my mum at her funeral,we booked a meal at the wighton,as mum liked to go there .The food and service was excellent,we were looked after by the staff ,making sure we had a nice meal without being intrusive. Thank you .

Staff are really friendly, pub very clean including loos and the food lovely, can’t fault it.

Lovely evening here, great atmosphere as soon as we walked in the door. Good slick service and good food too. Leah was a very professional waitress - I watched her scan the tables to see if she was needed any where - very subtle, very professional. We shall definitely visit again as we're only a mile away. I forgot to use my 30% discount voucher too! I didn't want chips with my battered fish but a lovely green salad was substituted. My husband had Bass fillets - lovely!

My first time back in over 8 years and it was better than I remember. Food was really nice! Red hot coming out which obviously showed freshly cooked and not just warmed up. My only grumble and it's a small one, soft drink prices. I only noticed when I decided to get a second drink and discovered a glass of Pepsi max is £3.05! Hells bloody bells you can buy 8 cans in a shop for around that price, almost seems like they are charging alcohol prices for soft drinks. Just to add an edit after nice response from owner. Most definitely be back thats for sure and as for soft drink prices that's one of these things I guess, just need to make sure I get another pint next time instead of regular size 😀

We came here with four friends to celebrate my 77th birthday. We chose here as we had been before, they had not. No complaints about either the food or service and will come again as we live locally.

Had a lovely meal today. I really recommend the burgers! We were served by the lovely Ollie. I hope he gets a good pat on the back, he seemed very relaxed and had perfect controll of his job, making for a gentle visit. I asked for no onion chutney and they remembered not to add it, which doesn't always happen in other places. I can not fault our meal!

Our Local. We have been here countless times. Lovely pub, exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. The beer garden is perfect on a sunny day. We have Christmas Day here for the past two years and it’s always been lovely with Yuri and his team working their socks off! Thank you.

We were welcomed by the Manager who found our booking and asked us about any food allergies before being shown to our table where he explained that it was table service and informed us of the name of our waiter who would take care of us. The staff were all fabulous and the atmosphere was great. Shortly after ordering our drinks our food order was taken and our starters arrived promptly which was surprising as it was quite busy. Once we had demolished these our plates were cleared away and we were asked if we were ready for our mains. We had ordered the mixed grill and a burger with both meals being delicious but we didn't leave room for dessert although it was tempting. We used a 30% off voucher which enabled us to treat ourselves mid-week. Something we wouldn't typically be able to afford. As we live close by we will be back, and the food we ate for the price paid was very reasonable.

Had the Sunday roast lunch here a few weeks ago. Got to say was the tastiest roast dinner I've ever had (sorry mum!) and would definitely go again.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Easy to open a tab. Good choice of food and non alcoholic adult drinks rather than cola or squash. Food arrived hot with good portions. My only criticism would be though the menu said sauteed potatoes they seem to be more like new potatoes

Been hear a couple of times and this time food was poor, family all had different meals and all said the same was very dry and basic .service staff where good as usual but food was a big letdown

Friendly, efficient staff, good food. An enjoyable experience

We came in pretty late on Sunday evening and got great food and service at reasonable prices.

The dish wasn't our expectation at all. It says on the menu pan-fried but it came broiled. Big difference.

Always a joy to visit. Staff are welcoming and friendly. The amenities are always clean and food has always been really good value for money. It's our family meal outing go to.

Lovely staff and always a great meal. Great prices . Highly recommended. A nice calm atmosphere throughout the day and evening makes the Whighton stand out from the other pubs around Torbay . Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating .

I had a lovely meal at The Wighton. Pan-cooked chicken wrapped in bacon and served with a mushroom sauce. Chicken was tender and the sauce was very tasty. Service was good and food came fairly quickly. After dinner we sat outside in the garden which was lovely

Been here lots of times food always nice.This time my food was burnt and my husband’s peas were hard very disappointing. Such a shame as we’re looking forward to a family meal out.

Was greeted by a friendly member of staff Food was delicious especially the Hunters Chicken and the chips were absolutely delicious best we have had don’t change them!! Tartare sauce was delicious as well with the scampi. The only thing is priced need to be shown for soft drinks.

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY, THANK YOU FOR OFFERING TO TRY TO FIND A SOLUTION. HOWEVER IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO REPAY TIME LOST. The staff were lovely, but obviously hardened to dealing with complaints. The atmosphere was great, and we really thought we were in for a good evening. Cheap, economy supermarket own brand food would have been better. We ate what we could, but our bodies thought better of keeping it too long in our systems! The food was over microwaved slop. They really don't deserve their customers.

Nice place, clean and modern. Food ok but have had better value elsewhere. Pie with thin pastry, powdered mash , half a carrot !(why not a whole one?). Curry nice but nothing special. All ok but wouldn't bring you back again.

Love it here, perfect for my Dog!

Excellent service including when we were seated. As my son is autistic and we were given several options of where to sit as to accommodate him. The waiters/ waitress were there if need but not overbearing and the food was excellent. Very pleased and will visit again.

Lovely pub great staff especially izzi. Who served us throughout the night with our meals and drinks fantastic food well worth the money.

Great food, relaxed and courteous service, best place I know to eat in the area.

Not a complaint as such, but a suggestion! We ordered 2 sandwiches, which came with chips or a side salad (a few dressed leaves!), we didn't really want chips but the waitress didn't seem to be able to not order them. Can you please offer sandwiches on their own? Also the "fish finger" sandwich had, what I would describe as "the scrappy ends of a fish fillet", hardly a fish finger! For the price charged I would have expected, at least, a real fish finger or , at best, a chunky fish finger. We will come again as it is handy for the hospital!

Me and my family have been coming to the wighton for a while now, and every time we have been given a warm welcome, and the most amazing service, and food is spot on every time! It's our favourite place to come, as our son says '10 out of 10' 😂 we also agree, we highly recommended this place, perfect food with the best prices, beats all other restaurants in Torquay

SINCE ITS SUBSTANTIAL refurbishment relatively recently, at first glance, it wouldn’t be the kind of pub I’d choose as my local even if I had only to fall down twice and be in it from my front door. It’s an old roadhouse-done-good kind of a place. One might find a temptation, after a couple of pints, to be glancing up for the indicator to see how much longer their flight might be delayed. But don’t let that put you off one iota. EVERYTHING’S clinically clean. Once you’ve been glided as well as guided to your table, the food tastes as good as good as it looks on the plate. Or if you’re just sitting at the bar doing the crossword, as I do most days, well, that’s where my problem lies: there’s just nothing to complain about. Because everything’s so damn good. /THE FOOD — SOLID SOLIDS/ The fish and chips are spectacular, rivaling any traditional chippy — and then some. Then the posh fish finger sandwich (which I hear ordered multiple times during the time it takes me to do the crossword). Then a selection of pies; steak and ale, chicken and mushroom, cheese and leak and potato. There are all the usual grill suspects, sorry, favorites; burgers done every which way but loose. Plenty puds, but the standout for me is the melting chocolate dome which is worth ordering if only for the satisfaction of smashing it with the back of the spoon and then giving it to someone else if you can’t manage it. You don’t need to see pictures of these, because they’re all picture-perfect when they arrive at your table. You’ll see. There are little plates, tapas style, that would be at home in any north-of-the-river London gaff; also a rather useful and financially provocative set menu for weekday lunch and early eve running at a mere £15/$20/€18. /LIQUIDS/ Today’s hand-pulled ales are Marston’s Pedigree and Hobgoblin, both brilliant beers and fastidiously kept. As a regular rube, you won’t notice a pint under par because it won’t reach you. /PEOPLE AND PERSONNEL/ LIKE I SAID, you wouldn’t think it a regulars’ pub. But, like most things, they’re there. And they’re worth getting to know just as much as they want them to. I suppose, because of the professional feel to the place, you’re more likely to enjoy the ambience rather than require an ambulance. As Basil Fawlty might say: “No riff-raff.” Yuri is the manager. His skill and perception for picking out the permanence of staff is something, as a cognitive psychologist, I’d like to know more about when he’s not busy running the place. For today, front-of-house is staffed by, not in any order: LEAH has taken an interest in how long it takes me to walk here. And it has become sincere interest. And it’s lovely. STEFAN’s steadiness and dependability is surpassed only by his almost innate knowledge of the beer he pulls. I thought I knew beer but he catches me on the hop. AGNE, when she’s not busy, will happily entertain a brief Q&A on physics. We laugh about the unifying theory in thirty-second bursts. KITTY like everybody here today has unobvious talents. I know. I’ve read some of her Masters papers on geo-socio-political science. With her serenity and elegance will make a magnificent maitre d’. I don’t know how Yuri attracts such characters to work in a pub/restaurant — and keep them. It’s professionally run, pedigree pub precision.

Arrived and was greeted by the owner who is always polite and curtesy. We were seated drinks came quick meals came out in reasonable time but unfortunately for me the portion control was not to my liking for a nearly £16 meal and when it arrived on the table both mine and my daughters chicken was very over cooked to the point my daughter couldn't even bite the edge of her chicken and my burger was very dry due to over cooking. Don't get me wrong the food was hot and was tasty but the over cooking let it down this time which is a shame because we have attended the Wighton for a few years and never had a bad meal so please don't take this as I'm trying to put the whole experience down as a negative this was just very unfortunate that it was my daughters birthday this time and I think improvements need to be addressed which is the idea of feed back.

Reasonably priced food, my husband loved the mixed grill, polite staff, nicely decorated, lots of outdoor space.

The service was excellent. Very helpful waitresses and quick service. Very good at up selling pudding too lol!!

Food was nice however our friend had rather a Hot Chill sauce on put on her salad, resulting in her not eating it.

Went today at lunchtime, they, instead of hunters chicken, served me up what looked like road kill. It was black, burnt and totally disgusting and inedible. Also had the Whitby scampi that left an awful greasy taste. Spent £42+ and all we ate was the garlic bread, even the onion rings were rank. I would avoid at all costs if you want to go out for a nice meal. This place is horrid and will never go back again.

I visited the wighton on Tuesday evening, and had amazing service from Ollie he was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious, would recommend this place especially for the staff.

Gluten free option disappointing. The halloumi & red pepper kebabs if vegetarian comes with a flatbread. The gluten free option (same price), lacks any flat bread. Since flatbread is actually the main constituent of this meal it might be an idea to source a GF flatbread. :-)

Excellent venue, friendly and approachable staff, six of us chose 5 different meals and all came out at the same time, hot and tasty.

Good value and excellent food. The young lady who served us was really friendly and she made sure that we were happy with our orders. There is also an EV charging point which meant we could fill the car as well as ourselves! All in all, we'll be back

Overpriced, Small Portions, Rushed. £16 for "Kebabs"... you receive 1. Received the bill and before we could even look at it, it was on the machine to pay. We asked to split and before we could say how, the waitress sighed and walked away - called across it was ready.

So I enjoyed the food, had to pay extra for cauliflower cheese. I just think it’s expensive, two roasts, x2 cauliflower, 3 drinks & a dessert was about £55. Probably wouldn’t return but a lovely experience. Everybody’s polite it’s really clean and tidy, and the food tastes lovely.

Horrific. I have severe gluten allergy which they were informed of when booking, on arrival and the waiter. The 2 meals arrived. The waiter did not have a clue which was which. He took them back to the kitchen but was still not sure. I calmly explained that if I eat gluten we will be calling an ambulance. I carry Epipens! They offered to give me a fresh meal. I waited 15/20 minutes for the new meal. It was supposed to be 8oz rump mushroom and tomato with chips. Cooked medium. There was 7 chips! No tomato, 1 shriveled mushroom and the plate was running in blood! It wasn't cooked! By this time my husband had eaten his meal!! I had lost all faith in eating the food and wanted to leave. The manager was apologetic and we didn't have to pay for my husbands meal or my drink. However, It was my birthday and I left without having eaten, hungry and upset. We have eaten there many times before without a problem. I have never complained about food or sent a meal back before anywhere, but it was disgraceful and dangerous.

Queues just to get in, we had booked a table!! Service whilst pleasant was too slow, waiting time between drinks arriving & food was too long. Steak was ordered by one of our group, who struggled to eat it because it was tough & very chewy. 2 of us had burgers ( £16+) which were OK, didn't live up to menu description at all. The fries accompanying were completely flavourless & bland and pale. In fact tge only good part of the food offerings were the traditional chips. I'm afraid our part of 6 will not be returning if this is the best they can produce.

Like the venue, staff lovely, food pretty dreadful. Ordered sea bass which was well cooked but the veg were really overcooked. The crushed potatoes were hard and chewy. Not a good experience. The cheesecake was quite nice. Some cream would have been nice.

Like many other parties, we work at the hospital and regularly enjoy a meal at the Wighton after wprk. We have always been able to pay separately for the meals and wines we have had but last night were told that you did not do this anymore and one person would have to pay the whole bill or it could be split three ways. I could see no notification of this change either on the menyu or on your website. This spoilt our evening completely. I think it is very short sighted of you to restrict how the bill can be paid when much of your business is from the hospital and businesses were people pay their own way.

Took 2 family members for a meal after enjoying a meal a week before . Main course and pudding were quite good,well cooked .The only disappointment was the prawn cocktail starters(3)very miserly serving of prawns with stale bread .

WOW! we came for my husbands birthday and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were over and above attentive, professional and courteous. The food was exemplary (which is hard to find these days) We came bearing gifts, cakes and two dogs! It was as if we were the only people in the restaurant, someone even came over to our table to bring some dog biscuits and another offered a glass of water to my Mum who was busy coughing! Can’t rate our experience highly enough and we are just about to book again!

Food arrived warm, and before we were halfway through, it was cold. Which was a shame because the food tasted pretty good. Although there was obvious microwave use, hence the collapsed Yorkshire pudding and tough skin on the potatoes. And I've got to say for £17.29 the portion size was quite small.

Always the best time and experience when dining or drinking at The Whighton. Staff are super helpful, great selection to choose from, sitting outside now the weather is getting warmer is also great, really enjoyable. We come here all the time, and will definitely be back soon enough!
