A real gem, you don’t find many pubs like this anymore, wonderful drinks, staff and food. Great to stop on your walk around the countryside.

Stayed overnight in the carpark on our campervan. We thought the food was excellent. Hock terrine and hummus starters were superb, my wife's lambs liver was very good and I can never resist a sausage and mash. They were large portions, hence we couldn't do a desert.

Disappointing experience. I asked for a tray for my drinks, to take out to the garden with some menus. As I lifted the tray from the bar 2 small drinks that had been dispensed from soda gun tipped over and spilt onto the stone floor. I apologised profusely and felt a right muppet. The bar lady (who it turns out was the manageress) did nothing to dispel my embarrassment, and in fact was positively surly. She re-dispensed the two drinks without saying a word. When I came to settle the tab for our food and drinks she had added these spilt drinks onto it. Though obviously entitled to do so, it was for drinks that costs the pub pennies (from the soda gun) it just struck me as bad form and I had a sense throughout our meal that she would have done so. The hospitality business is all about making the customer feel welcome, wanted and about creating a pleasurable occasion. The pub garden also had dog excrement in it which got all over the pushchair wheels which about summed up my spoilt experience. I won't be going back.

Unfortunately, a bad experience. The food was very poor and felt as though most it, came from a freezer. When I mentioned to the waitress we weren't happy with the clearly frozen calamari, she muttered sorry and didn't offer to resolve, whatsoever. Why bother asking how the food is, in that case? They had a really impressive drinks selection, albeit, expensive (£7.20 a pint). At 8:50pm, we were still finishing our drink and the lights were being turned off and cleaning up and we had to leave. £88 for two starters, two mains and two pints.

We had a terrible experience at this pub a year or so ago under the previous management. We decided to give it another go given the lovely weather recently and the idyllic location and garden. One of the worst Sunday lunches I have ever been served... The whole thing looked and tasted like a Birds Eye frozen lunch - the beef was near enough inedible, and the Yorkshire pudding was rough, basically a chunk of bread. Just about the only edible thing on the plate were the vegetables. Maybe it's better on other days of the week, but this was so bad that I can't reasonably give it another chance. Oh, and the selection of beers is really not good, not a single bitter on pump. Frustrating given that it's within walking distance of home!

We had Sunday lunch on the 19th May. It was the worst ever. Not only did we wait for 50 minutes for the food to arrive, when it did we should have sent it back. The meat was obviously precooked & bought already sliced - pork & beef. The Yorkshire puddings were inedible and the rest was just awful. One person had a beefburger which was served with a very small amount of fries. Only along with his fries came a chicken nugget! Obviously left over from another meal! The price of the drinks was astronomical. I certainly would not recommend going there on a Sunday!

Our stopover at the Mill was a delight. Although a busy night for the Inn, we were made to feel welcome and enjoyed a good tasty meal. The Inn has the benefit of a large, flat car park and visitors should also note the delightful garden and stream. A dog friendly village and a great pub, we will visit again.

Booked the table by the gorgeous fireplace for dinner 6pm Saturday and was really surprised that it was just us and one couple at another table until around 8pm when a few other people came in. Talking to the lovely girl behind the bar it appears that trade has been very light over Winter, to the point where they are running a reduced menu and no real ales at the bar. The fact that the place was nearly empty is an utter travesty - this place is one of the rare beauties in our time - such a rich history and a really quirky building with many interconnected rooms. The service we received was excellent, as was the food, and despite the lack of real ale, the Samuel Smiths bitter was certainly a good accompaniment. It has just SO much character, and deserves to be humming with people. Roll on Summer when the brilliant river-side location will come in to play, and hopefully get the show properly on the road with lots of customers enjoying this little gem of a pub - this time WITH the real ales and a fuller menu...... PLEASE ! We will certainly be back.

Worst meal we had during our holiday in Oxford and the Cotswolds. We met our niece who lives in Cheltenham there. Fortunately it was a warm and sunny day so we were able to eat outside as inside is very dark and gloomy. We had 1 scamp and chips, 1 meat pie and one burger followed by 2 fruit crumbles and an ice cream. Drinks were 1 beer and 2 soft drinks and after the meal 3 cups of tea - 3 tea bags and 3 cups of tepid water! The bill came to £97. A few days earlier we had met a friend for dinner at the Brasserie Blanc restaurant in Oxford where we had 3 excellent main courses followed by 3 delicious puddings. This meal was accompanied by a glass of wine and 2 soft drinks. This meal cost less than £97 and was very superior, in a different class altogether. Would never visit the Mill Inn again.

Well what a disappointment, ordered garlic bread for a starter and 3 rather over cooked slices were served up and they weren't particularly good value for money. Anyway I thought not to worry I have the famous chicken in a basket for my main so I'm sure to be happy with that, but nooooo, it was no better than a KFC, but double the price. It's such a beautiful looking pub in an amazing location just a pity about the over priced sub standard food. One of the most picturesque pubs in the Cotswolds. The Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic and great value. The service is informal and extremely friendly. Unlike some pubs, you are not rushed and with all the cozy little corners, all the tables are tucked away so it’s a very private dining experience. They have a fantastic range of beers which are certainly worth trying. Outside is a very pretty beer garden with lots of seating and a little stream running through the middle. The pub is dog friendly and a perfect place to stop off any time of the year. It’s well priced and the food is great quality. Really impressed, thank you.

Atmospheric inn with loads of olde world charm and a large outside garden with brook running through part of it. We've been coming here for about 40 years and feel very comfortable during each visit. Insides are brilliant with odd corners and plenty of space in 3 separate rooms. 2 rooms have open inglenook fireplaces, lit in winter. Don't miss trying the Mill's famous chicken in a basket with chips. Sample the range of Fullers ales. Enjoy the quiet country setting. Highly recommended. ***** We visited again in January - still the same high standard. This time we had Scampi and Chips, followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding, which is very good. The fire was lit and we enjoyed sitting at the table next to it - very cosy on a cold winter's night.

We came for Sunday lunch today. This pub ticks so many boxes, lovely warm fires, amazing old English country pub feeling and a beautiful outdoor garden area with a lovely stream passing through. Unfortunately, the food did not complement the rest of this perfect venue. We ordered 3 appetizers, fried halloumi, honey and mustard sausage and tempura prawns, and in fairness, 2 of the 3 were very tasty, but the halloumi was overcooked, to the point that it was hard and dry and simply unenjoyable. Mains ordered were a pork loin roast, a chicken roast and a trio of meats roast. The roast loin was really a small portion, one small round of loin and a dried end piece. The trio, included pork, roast beef and chicken. Every piece of pork was dry and lacked any real flavour, the chicken was passable, and the roast beef, cut into strips (why?) Was for the most part, hard, chewy and massively overcooked, two pieces were mostly gristle. The Cauliflower cheese was fine, although somewhat dry and cloying. The trimmings were unfortunately the real let down, and primary reason for this review. Arriving for a 12pm reservation when lunch service starts at 12, one would expect the trimmings for the Sunday lunch to be almost ready at that point and therefore served fresh, this, sadly was not the case. The roast potatoes were at best cooked this morning, allowed to cool and then reheated, but potentially frozen or refrigerated from yesterdays food service and warmed up today, they were really awful, the gravy was watery and lacking any real flavour, the peas were, lackluster and the veg, was just veg, under seasoned and watery. This review is written in good faith, however after paying upwards of £60 just in food, we feel disappointed with the overall experience.

This is a little place 2 miles off the A346 cirencester to Oxford Road, I did like that there is a lovely river with plenty of seating next to it and a lovely big garden, plenty of seating inside, and a good car park, but it's very expensive £5.20 for a pint of very cold stout larger is £6.00 a pint which is getting like everywhere but £1.90 for a packet of crisps and £2.10 for a packet of peanuts isn't good.
