Norwood Arms in Cheltenham

We were welcomed by Simon today who showed us to our seats and turned the fire on next to us. He was so friendly and accommodating with our food orders which were delicious and very quick to arrive. We had a choice of the brunch, lunch or main menus. Definitely would recommend and come back soon.

Went with work - even though the meals were pre-ordered, several people were either missed or given the wrong meal - bad considering one of those had an intolerance. 2 of our group had to share meal as several other individuals came along as freeloaders and were given their pre-ordered food! Food was OK, but nothing special.

I have to commend the staff for their stellar service. Particularly Drew who is always most helpful and humorous. Kate is also a happy delight!

Food is poor, typical Green King. Please clean these toilets, disgusting. Menus stuck together with food. Plates left on table while having deserts… just poor quality

Good drinks and dogs welcome. Service excellent. Tables need cleaning after use by guests - often sticky so wipe them all down after each use

My wife and I visited the norwood Arms for a Sunday lunch the food was great the service was excellent we will visit the norwood Arms again.

Absolutely amazing service. Unfortunately a week before Christmas my 93 year old mother fell and broke her arm and was in hospital, (we’d booked this as a special treat as she was in hospital last Christmas). The hospital said we could take her out for dinner. I rang ahead to say she’d be in a wheelchair and was given directions to the easy accessible entrance. We walked in and it was packed and your lovely customers all moved and made space for her so we could get through. All your staff were lovely and made a stressful time enjoyable. The food was amazing and the portion sizes huge. Thanks again for making our Christmas more enjoyable than what we were expecting

This is the second year we’ve had a Xmas event for our friends group (all 18 of us!!) at the Norwood Arms and we will absolutely be back next year! The organisation and service from the staff was really impressive and a special thanks to the excellent Christopher for making the evening so easy. The table was decorated lovely, the food was decent and can’t fault anything. Looking forward to next Xmas meal here!

Had a Christmas meal with friends and family was a good day out .

We recently had our work Christmas Party at the Norwood. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. We Preordered our food through the portal, which was super easy and no fuss. Nothing was too much trouble for our party of 19. Thank you for a lovely evening, I'm sure lots of us will be back. :)

We have decided to pick this place for our colleague's retirement party. Unfortunately staff was very upset to serving many drinks (40 people) at that time. Eventually the staff member in christmas (apparently manager)jumper started shouting at as that we have to move to the one end of pub because we are on the way. Well with so many people in the pub he should not be as angry as he was. Throwing out the bottles and showing that he is upset with amount of clients is not the best to keep running the business and keeping the new/existing clients.

Social drink only. Good atmosphere in the pub. Staff friendly. Wasn't eating but wished I was as food smelled great.

Met a group for lunch, about 12 of us. Great meal deal inc vegan options; main, side & drink for under £10. Good wheelchair access inc toilet, prompt friendly service from the bar. Had a lovely time. Free parking by scanning the QR code inside with car reg. Would definitely go again.

Visited Exmouth Arms,after waiting at the bar for 10 minutes,totally ignored,not even looked up to say we will be with you presently. My friend and I walked to Norwood Arms and what a contrast,made very welcome,the meals were of a high standard as were the attentive nature of the two members of staff. Most impressed with the efficient service. Highly recommend and will be returning before Christmas.

My wife and I often walk to Bath Road from home and we like popping to the Norwood Arms for lunch. The traditional English breakfast on their brunch menu is consistently good, not greasy with crisp hash browns and nice toast. We also had a slice of Victoria sponge and a mug of tea each, which is good value at £3.49. We usually take the cake home to have later! One suggestion for improvement is the hot water for breakfast tea which should be a tad hotter. I ordered at the bar and the young lady who served me was friendly and most helpful. Photo shows extra fried egg (at £0.59).

Had a meal on a Thursday and turned out to be a bonus as it was steak night. We ordered a rump steak for £10.50 medium rare and came exactly right. Manager did a fabulous job, welcomed us, showed us to our table, took our drinks order, came back for our food order and came back again to ask if everything was ok which it most certainly was. Came back again for another drink order. When we paid our bill we told him what a great job he'd done 100% spot on. He could do with training others to his standing. We will definitely come back for the amazing service. Well done 👍🏻

We've been coming here for a few years now for the Thursday quiz. The place has always been buzzing with 20-25 teams enjoying a few drinks, friendly inter-team banter, the chance of winning a fair-sized cash prize and Tony the genial quizmaster's endearing inability to pronounce things. A full pub on a Thursday would be a pretty good result, you would think. But recently someone at management level decided to end the ability to book a table for the quiz and restrict quizzers to the few tables and back-knackering stools at the dingy bottom end of the pub. This was originally sold to us as a measure of separating eaters and quizzers so the loud conversations of the eaters wouldn't prevent the quizzers from hearing the questions, but it quickly became apparent that it was more about making more tables available to eaters. Higher margins on food, you see. This resulted in long-time regulars being turned away, despite tables being unused. After an outcry a few more tables were made available, but the damage has been done. This week we were down to 10 teams, with a half-empty pub and none of the usual atmosphere. It might make sense if people were actually using the tables to dine, but they were all empty by the time the quiz got underway at 8. Way to go, Norwood. A good night ruined. Well there will be another empty table next week. We won't be back.

Great atmosphere and incredible service, would definitely recommend!

New Management Team & Great Service ! Visited the Norwood Arms this evening and we were well very looked after by Drew and Simon. Food quality was excellent - and can highly recommend the shared nachos, chicken schnitzel and sticky toffee pudding (which was awesome). The new management team seemed very motivated, and keen to make the most of the facilities and options that the Norwood Arms offer. The garden is especially good in the summer - although the garden bar was not open much this summer which was a shame. Definitely a lot to recommend whether coming for something to eat or just meeting for a drink. We will gladly return !

I had a birthday celebration as a surprise. Staff very welcoming and were part of the surprise. Food was lovely. Hot. No delays in feeding our group of 10. I have been there quite a few times and generally love the atmosphere. Garden in the summer is buzzing Staff keeping up with clearing tables and making sure everyone is OK.

We've been taking part in the Thursday quiz for several months and its been great fun until recently. If you want to take part in the quiz but are only drinking then you are restricted to the bar or raised area. Understand the need for the pub to encourage dining but last night was awful - crammed in, had to stand at a table as no chairs available whilst the restaurant area remained largely empty. Numerous people left. Not the staff's problem at all but we really didn't feel welcome.

Best avoided if you get an email offer - in this case it was an offer for free birthday deserts - however when you open the email it does not make clear this had to be ordered at the same time as main courses. So we ordered drinks and main course in the app. Then went to the bar to redeem the free dessert offer and very conveniently told “you should have ordered at the same time as the main”. Manager clearly could not be bothered as they were busy chatting to the kitchen staff. Even when I was told it’s in the t&c’s and after scrolling through the whole email I pointed out you needed to go right to the bottom of the email to find these t&c’s in tiny writing! Which is hiding behind the small print. Oh yes and apparently, the manager then told me, I could not use the app for the dessert code and would have to talk to a member of staff - but of course I had used the app so not needed to engage with a staff member. Sorry Greene King you need to up your game and not hide behind small print - and perhaps find staff who are a little bit more empathetic and understand why you did not know what you needed to do to redeem the birthday offer. Happy birthday to me. Well obviously not at the Norwood !!!!!!

Excellent! From first stepping foot in the pub after losing our new house keys!! We decided to have lunch while awaiting rescue! Since then we've been regulars.... a lovely friendly atmosphere, warm & cosy. All the staff have been friendly and attentive as well taking the time to share a banter or two! The meals are really nice and very cost effective! There are all sorts of offers to take advantage of, and apparently (haven't tried it yet) Sunday roast is extremely good - I'll look foward to that! Definitely worthy of a visit and hope you enjoy it like we have.

Better than your average Greene King pub. Good food, friendly staff, nice beer garden. Be careful of the parking restrictions in place though - don’t be stung with a parking ticket thinking you can park for free.

Can't beat their outside area on a hot, sunny day🌞! Inside is OK, but I feel it lacks atmosphere... No complaints with food, always spot on and personally love the Pulled pork nachos 😄

Considering how short staffed they were, the meal was surprisingly good. The waiter was on his own and coped with a full pub by moving at great speed

Arrived around 7.10pm on a Friday evening. Bar staff ignored us to begin with, then when I approached one to ask about a table was asked if we had booked. I replied no to be told that they would therefore not be offering table service as they "expect to be busy later". I would have left at that point but my husband had ordered a drink so we had a meal, ordered at the bar while 4 staff members stood around chatting. Luckily the food was good but we will not be going back anytime soon, far too many nicer options in the close vicinity. You need to up your game I'm afraid.

The Norwood is a perfect place to go, either for drinks or to eat - the staff are fantastic: friendly, attentive and helpful. The whole place is really pleasant, clean, comfortable and welcoming. The food is always excellent and the range of drinks is really impressive, plus both are less expensive than you’d expect for a venue like this. There’s lots of parking available and a large outside area that is perfect for sunny days and evenings. Highly recommended!

We decided rather late to go out for a evening meal,, we arrived with just enough time to order some food,, the young waiter that saw us through our night, (( spiky hair,)),, sorry forgot his name. But his service and attitude towards us was absolutely top-notch he made our evening very enjoyable definitely recommend Norwood Arms

Really nice place, bit and spacious and a nice separate restaurant section to the drinking part of the pub. The girls that served us were lovely and attentive. Steaks were cooked well, tender.

Beyond embarrassment, had a few drinks and in a fine condition but denied service because the barmaid was on a power trip, won’t be using this place again and would rather use and encourage any other person to use another place on bath road.

Lovely food for my birthday . Fast service .

Went twice in one day as the staff was lovely and the food was brilliant! First time around we were three people having food, sat outside and had two focaccias and one shrimp and chips! We enjoyed ourselves and looked through the rest of the menu, before deciding to bring the rest of the family for the evening! Six people that all got drinks and food served by kind and helping staff and they were very helpful in having a separate vegetarian and vegan menu, and offered food for several types of allergies and preferences!

Nice pub with a decent size beer garden and car park next to it (be sure to scan the qr code inside the pub and put your car reg in for free parking). Staff were all friendly and drinks were good. Had a bowl of chips which were ok but that was it so couldn't comment on the rest of the menu. All in all a nice pub and happy to go back there again, next time we're in town.

What a pub. Great staff with a genuine happy demeanour, a rare thing indeed these days. Still shocked by the lack of variety in the gentleman’s machine. Won’t be tickling any fancies this evening ☹️
