Nice big pub, with a pleasant back yard. I particularly like the outside booths. The service was a bit poor, as the kid behind the bar was bored and vacant. When I asked for a glass of tempranillo she asked if it was red, white, or rose, as she had to read the labels. I'd go again, as different bar staff would be a different experience. Update Went to the new Tivoli for food. Website said food all day but it’s wrong. Food starts at 5:30. Left and went to Suffolk Arms.

Very good casual dining with a large bar. More a restaurant than a pub with food. Brilliant soft grilled liver, enormous, crispy and fresh battered fish and other great dishes. Decent wine list at good quality and prices.

The (New) Tivoli has just been embraced by the new ‘Serial Landlords’ who also run a number of close proximity (Cotswold) Pubs And about time too (The old Tivoli was starting to show the weariness of the very real and devastating industry pressures) As far as I am aware the - The (New) Tivoli forms part of the same Pub Stable as: The Fox @ Broadwell The Lamb @ Shipton The Bell @ Langford And The Sherborne Arms @ Northleach Soft launch happened on the 26th July 2024 with a full on service on Saturday the 27th July What I love about all these pubs is the ‘Bar Snacks’ and small dishes When is the last time you saw a menu with Devilled Kidneys on Toast ? Proper Pub Grub for the people who are fed up of average pub food trough menus “Was everything OK Sir” ? “Oh yes Lovely” Was it hell ! stop telling people you had a nice meal when it was at best average and probably a waste of your well earned money. And to prove the Tivoli isn’t catering to ‘The Great & The Good’ (with more Money and Flash Cars - than sense) you can also enjoy ‘Am Eggun Chips’ And with ‘Anchovy Toast’ poking its head above the blackboard parapet, I think Russell Norman would have enjoyed a light snack at this establishment. The Specials offering of a home made meat pie with gravy and mash might also tempt a hungry diner longing for genuine home made food that hasn’t been pulled from the freezer for the convenient purpose of low cost high volume meals with little or no risk (apart from a vanilla dining experience) More later….. Need to get another Pint …..

Having enjoyed three excellent meals here before, today's experience was quite a letdown. I stopped by for a pint and lunch, only to be informed that no further orders would be taken for existing tables after 14:15. Interestingly, my bank statement shows I paid for my drinks at 14:19, while the restaurant's website clearly states the lunch menu is available until 14:30. For a Friday lunchtime, the attitude felt unnecessarily dismissive. After having spent hundreds of pounds here in the past, this disappointing service has me rethinking my loyalty. My future business will be going elsewhere.

Pub has been refurbished and new set up is odd. 90% of tables set up for food with nice napkins etc- but it was afternoon. Hardly any space felt welcoming to sit and have a beer. Seems to be trying to be a restaurant and not a pub. Beer selection OK but not great for Cheltenham with craft ale scene. Nice garden.

Popped in for a quick bite and had their haggis scotch egg, some fries on the side and a pint of publican- very very happy with all off it! I feel its good value as there is clearly much effort put in to the details and fries were so perfectly cooked- loved them! Sure I'll be back for dinner some time soon to try some of the Devilled kidneys and other bits that really interested me on the menu! Staff are very friendly, clearly worked hard without being

I have seen this pub in many incarnations since it was the Pheonix! The real ale is well kept and a great pint. The wine list is ambitiously extensive and priced for the Home Counties. I would be delighted it see a bistro style small menu of freshly cooked food to come back into fashion. Our food did not match the expectations of The menu prices. The staff were professional and attentive, however there is plenty of competition locally.

Without a doubt the best place for food in Cheltenham. This is a proper pub. How a pub should be. Reminiscent of the original London gastro pubs who first started taking food seriously. The idea that I can get a decent scotch egg with a great pint of Landlord or have a 3 course meal executed to perfection means we will quickly become regulars. You can come and have a bottle of St John’s rose in the garden or gorge on a sharing pie in the dining room. We had lunch + every dish was perfect. Phenomenal. Faultless. The chocolate torte was the best dessert I’ve ever eaten and I’ve eaten a lot. Some absolutely bizarre reviews below from people who, meaning no offence here, but this new version of The Tivoli isn’t aimed at you. If you want to go and drink average beer on a “comfy” seat there are plenty of average pubs in Cheltenham…this isn’t one of them. Granted, it’s on the more expensive end of the spectrum for the food for sure but you can taste the quality of the ingredients + every dish we’ve had was balanced perfectly it was worth every penny. Finally we have somewhere in Cheltenham that understands good food, simply done, in a relaxed, stylish + welcoming pub environment. Exceptional.

First time back after new owners and renovations. Ordered chicken caesar salad. Initial presentation was good. Discovered there were numerous pieces of soft chicken skin mixed in with the salad. . Showed the waiter and he agreed this wasn’t right and stated he would talk to the kitchen. While paying the bill I mentioned it again to the senior? employee on duty. He defended the practice of including chicken skin in the salad. These were skin pieces that were not attached to meat. Will definitely NOT return! Management response is a laugher! Try and find any pub/restaurant that puts slimy chicken skin pieces in a Caesar salad. Like I said these weee skin only pieces NOT attached to actual meat. I stand by my unacceptable review!!

So disappointed ☹️ After several years of being a lovely drinking pub it is now all about food only. I couldn’t wait to revisit after the closure and update however the shock of sitting on short backless stools in a very noisy echoed environment due to no soft furnishings and no lovely high bar seating area was very disappointing. The new owners obviously just want it as a restaurant making local drinkers feel not welcome by no area for them to relax and enjoy in comfy seating. The metal chairs outside are OK but the previous ones were comfy. Price of drinks was high and NO choice of gin only their plain one. Unfortunately after all these years we will not be returning. This used to be our great comfy fun environment with locals pub….. not any more.

Really beautiful food , service was either excellent or mediocre. on arrival. we waited at an empty bar with NO bar staff at all ! after almost leaving we were approached by a bar man, wine beautiful but obviously expensive , we decided to have Sunday lunch and only after eating what was beautiful but needing maybe more gravy and potatoes were we made aware we could have asked for more inclusive of the 25.00 per head plus charge . My husband has a huge appetite so this would have made the whole dining experience feel more value for money. the waitress was very friendly, good at what she did but remember cheese and biscuits need a knife and not a spoon. overall we feel a bit let down that what could have been a hearty sumptuous lunch was let down by not being encouraged to request more gravy or extras . Feeling a bit cheated as this is amongst Cheltenham's most expensive Sunday roast. We tipped for service and feel now that was lacking

This used to be one of my favourite places to meet people and chat in Cheltenham. I went in last night for a beer and it was the first time since the refurb. I was not impressed at all. There are about six tables in the bar and the rest of the large pub is set up for eating. Gone are the comfy seats and instead there are wooden stools and chairs. The glass airy walkthrough to the garden (which is still there) is now dark and the dark paint makes the place very gloomy. Service at the bar was very, very slow and at £6.75 a pint I would expect better as these are London+ prices. There is also a chalkboard with the names of people who have reserved tables on full view. If I had reserved a table I certainly wouldn't want the general public to see my name there. The food menu looks nice but looking at the portion sizes on the table next to us it seems very small and very, very expensive. Just a real shame that a perfectly good pub has been stripped of its personality.

Hadn’t realised it had changed hands as hadn’t visited for a while. Can’t say I like the dark decor with animal taxidermy around. The new food tastes and looks good. However, there is practically no inclusivity for people with any dietary requirements or preference. The refurbishment is really distasteful. Too dark and the animal heads and taxidermy everywhere doesn’t fit in with the area at all. The music is repetitive and makes you feel like your in an american country bath. Very strange vibe going on the only good thing about it is that the food they do offer is good

I asked if he was serving he nodded, I asked for a wine list and ordered a bottle of Picpoul (£37 😂) I can go anywhere on bath road and get Picpoul for £24-£26. I mean come on guys. In order to book three seats in the centre, I had to book four seats for the booking to be accepted - This is absolute bulls$*t. Previously, you could book as many seats as you needed. It’s 1.30pm and we have booked a table at the Tivoli we walk in through the front door to an empty room. Surely Sunday lunch should be busy. We look through to the dining area to see a couple of tables occupied but are worried why it’s so quiet. We order drinks at the bar and the server is charming. The place is spotless and the bar well stocked. Then we are shown to our table and order Sunday lunches priced at £17 per head with extra for cauli cheese and then all becomes clear when the meals arrive . They are mean - so mean my meat consisted of 1.5 slices of pork 3 roast potatoes. 1 carrot - 1 parsnip and a spear of broccoli. All tasty and served hot but just not enough. They bag the pork out with a Yorkshire pudding and 4 minutes after delivery it all over. We then retreat to the garden to find the staff eating bowl of potatoes etc etc and I decide something is very much amiss here

We went for Sunday lunch for a big birthday and despite them saying “unlimited top ups of roasties, Yorkshires and gravy” on the menu they ran out of vegetables! The food was cold, of exceptionally poor quality and one person was brought the wrong dish. We could not eat the food as it was so bad. We visited here already a few times before and the food and service were absolutely perfect but today... My girlfriend's family came to visit us and we proudly invited them to the Tivoli, which turned into a disappointment... Saturday 2pm and it was quite. Only one more group was eating. We ordered drinks we were told by the waitress she will come over in 5 minutes take the food order, didn't happen. One of us went to the bar to tell them we are ready to order I repeat the pub was almost empty but the staff were busy chatting, flirting and even kissing each other in the middle of the shift...Once the food arrived the burger was absolutely soggy and wet and felt like made from the cheapest ingredients. The ribeye steak we ordered medium and it was just rare and chewy she didn't even eat half of it but we don't like to ask refund. The lamb shank was good and tasty but definitely a microwave version. The beef short rib was top notch. All in all this place was much better but nowadays the service, the quality of the food and the price for the food is really not good. Maybe something should change but this is the management's t job we costumers just leave the honest review.

"Lovely bar, very friendly staff" was my review of some time ago, however things have changed. The friendly staff were replaced with kids too busy chatting to each other to actually serve you and when they finally do the friendly smile is absent. This I can tolerate but the last two visits I have found the "pub" closed to the "public" and rented out to a private party! If the management/owners of this establishment can not work out for themselves why this might upset regulars that they've either turfed out early, for said party, or have walked there on a cold winter night to find they're not welcome, then you're in the wrong line of work! We won't be visiting again and if you're reading this with a view to visiting I would suggest you try elsewhere.

Me and my partner decided we would try the Tivoli pub as we had recently moved to the area and this would be our local pub. My partner went into the pub the night before where she was served by “Sav”. She was told by Sav that he hopes “she has ID” as he could not be bothered to ID them, which to begin with is illegal. In the same evening my partner ordered a drink with sav who stated: “what do you want again. I wasn’t paying attention”. My partner put both comments down as to someone having a “bad day”. So we both decided to pop in to check the food out. To be greeted by an empty bar whilst sav sat at a table polishing cutlery, making eye contact and continuing with the polishing, completely ignoring us. After 5 or so minutes sav came over to the bar to serve us, I began to explain we had a table booked when I was met with: “your the 8:30 booking. Hurry up with ordering as the kitchen closes at 9pm.” We were told the food ordering can be done in person to then be ignored for 10 minutes resulting in us ordering on the app. The food came out very fast, as to be expected if the food is microwaved as my lamb shank was. The sharing board is a waste of £20. You can get a bigger portion of similar food at a Wetherspoons for half the price. In between the sharing board coming out and the mains coming out I approached the bar to buy a second pint and was served by a female, the name I did not get but she was heavily tattooed. Before managing to open my mouth I was asked “do you want your mains” which wasn’t the reason for approaching the bar. There was no check back made as we ate our food and the service was appalling. Sav is possibly the rudest person I have met in hospitality. (I myself work in hospitality) Overall dreadful experience. Would not recommend for anyone to go to this pub. It has so much potential only to be ruined by poor service and food quality.

Food wasn’t up to much- several on the table had fish and chips- hardly any chips with their portions. The kids had burgers in brioche buns which appeared stale and they hardly ate. Vegan burger was awful-again stale bun and not a burger- more a fake chicken thing. Hunters chicken was welded to the dish and again very few chips. Overall really disappointing. Oh my goodness, whatever has happened to The Tivoli? Hero to zero so quickly! Whoever they have in the kitchen really shouldn’t be. Absolutely awful food even after the second attempt. In fairness the bar staff were so good and mega apologetic but nevertheless don’t have a cook or chef who thinks raw pasta is cooked in a microwave and can’t even cook chips so that they are edible. In fairness the fish was nice enough at the second attempt but not nice enough to make up for the rest. Such a shame. Update: We decided that it had to have been a glitch given how good The Tivoli has been in the past so we gave it another try and I am delighted to say that it’s back to its usual high standard! Well done to all concerned and so pleased you are back in the “go to” list of good Cheltenham pubs!

Had a fabulous roast lunch here to celebrate some family birthdays. The table had been booked ahead thankfully - they were having to turn people away as they were fully booked for lunch. The staff were really lovely and friendly, and the roast lunch was amazing - with plenty of extra roast potatoes and gravy when requested. The food and drinks were bought out promptly and we had no complaints whatsoever. We gather that the Tivoli has recently had a few staffing problems, which may have caused a few issues, but we would have no hesitation in returning in the future, and wish the new manager all the very best. Thank you for a really delicious lunch!

I booked for a lunch party of 10, with no pre ordering or deposit and it was absolutely lovely. Most of us had a 2 items for a fixed price, vegetarians and meat eaters alike seemed to enjoy their meal, beautiful presentation of all food. I had a bruschetta/mushroom and cheese plus a pasta dish all delicious and something I wouldn't make at home. Highly recommend .

Good food and good beer selection. Little out of town but near the train station. Defo one to add to the jaunt from deya/train back into town (the long way). Atmos based on the Friday lunchtime we visited and there were only 3 couples. Feels like the right (or wrong) time to visit

Had a light lunch in this deceptively large pub in a smart area of Cheltenham. Chicken and avo sandwich was tasty as was the beer - there was a choice of several ales which was nice. Service was quick and friendly.

As a group of 4+ we have been here for food on 3 occasions in the last few months. First time we came for Sunday roast which wasn't too bad. We decided to book again and pretty much everything had ran out on the menu. We were told this was due to a change of menu so we accepted this and only 2 of us ate. Meals (fish pie & hunters chicken were mediocre) Decided to book again this evening to give the tivoli a chance to redeem themselves. Had a call 2 hours before our booking to say roasts had ran out. We decided to proceed with our booking, 2 of us ordered their 'award winning steak pie' at £17 each. One one plate came out stone cold and was put in the oven to reheat whilst the rest of our table had pretty much finished eating. Another member of our group ordered gammon, egg & chips. Meal came out with stone cold peas and no egg because they'd apparently ran out of eggs (on a sunday)! The person serving us was very polite and apologetic and we didn't pay for one of our meals. However food was completely unacceptable and sadly we will not be eating here again. The pub wasn't even busy and had only 2 tables occupied. No excuses for such terrible cuisine.

Absolue rubbish. Waited 90 minutes for food despite not being busy. Allegedly the chef hadn't prepped the food. Burnt sausages! Waiter seemed more interested in his phone than doing his job. 3 beers off. AVOID AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME

have eaten at this restaurant before and it was good. went yesterday afternoon with my wife who had been for a scan. she hadn't eaten for 20 hours and we went to the Tripoli. we ordered a starter of calamari and for me Mussels main course. when served my dish was luke warm and there was very little juice for the bread to mop up. I returned my mussels and they came back out hotter but now over cooked and my chips which accompanied the dish were now cold. My wife's Calamari was also not hot, she only ate 3 and my mussels were not even half eaten. i went to the bar and complained and the staff member cancelled the mussels and i paid £27-05 for what really was for 2 glasses of wine. Before leaving the Chef went to the bar and stared at me in a not friendly way, as if to say how dare you complain about my cooking. when we got back home we went to a local pub and they had mussels on the menu which i had and they were hot not over cooked with lots of juice. I can honestly say as pensioners the meal at the Tivoli was the worst i have had in years and the price over the top for what we ordered. I usually visit this restaurant for lunch twice a year with 2 male colleagues but will not be suggesting we go again. George Irvine.

Six adults and a toddler went for Sunday roast, and I have to say the food was very good. Sadly, the service wasn't, I believe they were short staffed. We will definitely give them a second chance, as we live close by. Atmosphere lovely!

Food v average, tasted cheap and bland. Had to wash my cutlery in the bathroom because they had run out and asked me to retain our knives and forks for the mains..

It was a Monday night and 6pm when we sat down to eat, so expected a quiet pub and I wasn't disappointed. Hate crowded places so that was great for me. Service was good. I had the 3 cheese beefburger and my wife had a vegetarian pie ( can't remember the name of it, sorry) Anyway, it's a really nice pub and dog friendly. Food is pretty good and I just wish I lived a bit closer to it 😄

Lovely position next to small lake. Lots of ducks , boats to paddle around island in the lake. Good for breakfast, lunch and some meals at night. Children really seemed to enjoy the cafe and parkland outside. Easy parking

This was a lovely - and expensive - celebration meal out. The food is excellent, and the service is friendly and quick. We both enjoyed what we had, both of which were food we'd eaten for the first time. I had the partridge, though with my first bite, I had three small pieces of shot, which was a little unnerving, but no more after that. My other half has monkfish, which was delicious too.

Fantastic Pub in the Heart of Prestbury This charming pub is a gem in the heart of Prestbury. It boasts a wonderful selection of drinks and an added touch of intrigue with its local spooky tales. A perfect spot for a drink and a bit of local lore!
