Pub has seen better days and is in need of refurbishing especially the exterior which looks run down and uninviting. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff. This place could be a real gem in the centre of Honiton if some money was invested in it.

Honest food at affordable prices. An older market town pub with friendly welcome (for dogs too!) and what looks like an old skittle alley at the back, now with pool table. Food is proper pub grub (sausage, chips and beans, ham egg & chips etc) but great value. Homemade curries for £5! This would be a great place to feed the kids.

Stopped in here today to try the Sunday roast. OMG, I’m so glad I did. Happy staff who engaged and enlightened. A bargain of a lamb roast with all the trimmings. Well presented and cooked as fresh as possible. Not rushed or hurried at all. I never heard another customer moan or criticise in any way, everything was positive from start to finish. Smaller portions were available at a reduced rate, but I went all in for the big boy portion. Delighted I was too! I managed to leave room for pudding (no point being greedy 😃) Had a scrumptious and fantastic raspberry sponge pudding and lashings of custard. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, awesome. Will gladly revisit. More so now I know they show all the football, rugby and F1 on a number of tellys. A diamond in the rough, that’s for sure.

We visited to watch the Rugby match on Saturday and was recommended here as it is dog friendly. On entering the pub the locals made us welcome by moving and giving us a table, even without asking. Throughout our visit the locals made us welcome, so what great customers this pub has! The bar staff were friendly and polite and the drinks were great value too. A very friendly and honest pub to visit. We will return and have to try some food on our next visit. Thank you all for making our visit so memorable. England won the rugby as well!

Traditional local pub in a historic building dating back to about 1770, a former coaching inn, hence the narrow entrance and courtyard. It's the oldest pub in Honiton, smack in the middle of the High Street, and has an impeccable tradition of welcoming locals and visitors alike. It's quite unpretentious inside (a 'long narrow pub' reflecting the nature of the coaching inn layout, with ample outdoor seating) and expect "well lived in" surroundings and decor. The beer is good, with a couple of guest ales, and changed regularly. The food is home cooked, traditional pub grub - tasty and wholesome and at a decent price. Friendly landlords and bar staff, tv available, usual amenities, nice local pub without airs and graces.

I've tried some roast dinners in my time but this has topped the lot. I've had carveries, plated dinners, gastro roasts and home cooked stuff. But this roast topped it all, sumptuous tender beef, cooked rare but asked if rare was ok(it was) Extra consideration goes a long way. Creamy cauli cheese, nice selection of greens and the tastiest carrot I've had(I don't like carrot but it looked great) Home made Yorkshire pudding, proper gravy and crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside toasties. Extra gravy on the side too. Which I had to use as I kept adding extra greens and cauli cheese. Wholeheartedly recommend this place for a roast. Fantastic value for money.

When I feel down I often visit the tuns and it has a great sense of community. Everyone knows everyone, the food is lush, I love a panini. My nephew decided I'd wear a Christmas jumper for the day and I opted for a bacon and brie panini which was so yummy!! I converted my sister and she likes them too. Everyone thought it was pretty amsuing that I was in my Christmas gear so lots of smiles all around. Service was quick and catered to all our needs..I visited with a friend who was gulten free and she demolished the ham, egg and chips. Only note is that the menu's could do with an update as it didn't state what's was suitable for vegetarians, gulten free etc. However the staff knew what was and wasn't which was very helpful.

Incredible service by the lady Suzette behind the bar, really friendly and welcoming and juggling all the customer requests well always with a lovely smile! Breakfast was amazing, full breakfast bacon and eggs cooked perfectly. I asked for scrambled egg instead of fried which the chef was more than happy to cater for, nothing was too much trouble. Local thick cut bread with ‘proper butter’. Two breakfasts and coffee for just over a tenner. I can’t recommend this enough, what a proper little gem of a pub.

The barman wasn’t friendly & welcoming & it just felt very cold & uninviting . I don’t know if that was the manager that was on but if it wasn’t he / she were nowhere to be seen & I remember last time a couple were managers & they were downstairs keeping an eye on things & were very welcoming , I had heard the managers had changed . We didn’t stay that long & even left our drinks because everything about the pub was rubbish & my friend said when she went into the toilets they were filthy & smelled of sick very off putting !!!!!!!! I feel upset writing this review because my friends & I loved the three tuns & it was a real upsetting nasty shock to see it like this but because of this we won’t be returning , what a shame !!!!!!!!!!!

We enjoyed our night at this well run, clean and friendly hotel. The three course evening meal was freshly prepared and delicious. Our room was spotless and well presented. We both are surprised this is only a two star rated hotel, as our experience exceeded many four stars we’ve stayed in. Our breakfast was again delicious. The staff are all attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. It has ample parking and a beautiful rear garden with seating. If we are in the region again, we would wholeheartedly head for The Tumbling Weir, Thank~you

My wife and I have various food allergies, so it was so good to be told that they can adapt the meals to meet our needs. And they did, GF, veg instead of potatoes, you name it, it was done. The food itself was excellent, all four of us had brilliant meals. Well worth a visit

Great venue for lunch, always busy, good food at reasonable prices. Until today, prices have risen, the place was half empty, the food still good but not exceptional so why the price hike? My breaded plaice with chips, peas and tartare sauce was £16.99! It was nice enough, not outstanding and available elsewhere in Sidmouth for a lot less. If they want more profit and less customers I think this approach will work, we will think twice before returning as there are many other places to eat locally that offer better value for similar food.
56 Opinions
Staying in the local area we decided to meet up with other family members for an evening meal and catch-up. Knowing this pub does food from Wednesday through to Sunday lunchtime decided this would be a good place to visit. We booked and arrived just on opening time and was met with a very welcoming greeting by the bar person. Once we placed our order, in a very short space of time the starter course arrived, and on completion of this and table cleared, again the main meals arrived well presented and hot. The pricing was well within most budgets and with the specials board there is a good variety to choose from concidering the size of the village. Definitely on future visits this is a place on the list for food.
