The Beach in East Devon

We had dinner at the Beach, friendly service, great food, very reasonably priced wine and overall fantastic value. Friendly and professional service from Ruby, helpful bar staff too. We both had burgers and shared a bottle of merlot. Excellent.

We called in and they found us a table quickly. Ordered drinks and food which arrived quickly. The food was good, fish pie, Cumberland sausage and salmon meals well prepared. Service was good, waitress was helpful and cheerie.

Great food in a special pub atmosphere.Whilst I would suggest first impressions when looking at the exterior could give you the wrong impression.I strongly recommend anyone to go inside and sample the food on offer .We were extremely well looked after by a young lady called Ruby.

Can I just thank the staff of The Beach for making us so welcome yesterday. Having got a fairly good soaking in one of our April showers, we popped in here in the hope of a hot drink. Although they were busy preparing for an Easter Monday Lunch Service, we were happily provided delicious hot drinks and advised of where non-reserved seating was available. The Beach having undergone a complete refurbishment recently is a lovely seaside pub, with a comfortable and warm atmosphere, and definitely worth a visit, something we shall certainly be doing, again, in the near future.

Really good food, excellent service and really friendly atmosphere. If you are in the area give this pub a go.

We booked for a party of 14. The waitress Alana was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The food was 10/10 & service was extremely fast considering the pub was packed. Food was presented really well and great quality for money

The whole experience was excellent, the friendly and efficient staff, the food, the atmosphere, the toilets. Maisie and Alana looked after us so well we were loathe to leave and we will all definitely be visiting again very soon.

We have been here fairly regularly over the last year. Each time the food has been very tasty and service really good. Lovely atmosphere in a busy locals pub serving locally sourced food. Alana and Emmi ( think have it right) looked after us well on a very busy night. What's not to like.

Had a fantastic meal last night, the atmosphere in the pub is brilliant, Leanne was bubbly and friendly and sorted our table straight away, our waitress was Ruby who again was lovely and looked like she really enjoyed her job and nothing was to much trouble. The Beach pub certainly has a wonderful team of staff which only adds to making it a very welcoming pub.

A lovely clean, friendly and warm pub. We were served really quickly at the bar, then ordered food and we waited on for drinks - a lovely touch. I had the chicken dish, but the menu suits all with lots of additional daily specials too. The food was beautiful, well presented and hot. Thank you, a lovely evening with the girls

Poor quality food for the price.

Only seemed to be one young girl taking out food but it was great food and worth a little wait as was a full house.

Went with my godson & his mother on a wet Saturday lunchtime. The pub's welcome was warm, the food varied & scrummy and the service good. Two of us had scallps and prawns, the other halloumi, followed by a stacked burger, fajitas that truly sizzled & the pie of the day - all of which were delicious. My godson gives the pub a big thumbsup and I concur.

Just a nice place, great food, plesent staff (who care) good beer's and a super atmosphere.

We have eaten here a few times because they serve wonderful meals so we took my German friend there on Friday. It was really busy but we were not disappointed, the food was still great. I had the pan fried duck and it was superb. Our waitress, Ruby, was really friendly and efficient (10 out of 10.) We will definitely be going back again.

Pub in great location near the beach and harbour / marina … good menu , plenty of choice for everyone and good selections of gin etc Pretty quick service for food. Gets busy, so booking a table is recommended. Overall a good pub for drinks and/ or food.

This is a fab pub - brilliant food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. They also have a good children's menu.

We visited this place twice over two nights, the staff were helpful and friendly and accommodating whilst we pushed the boundaries of the menu! The manageress supported by Leanne and Holly just couldn’t do enough for us and made our anniversary a memorable experience 👍

Popped in for a Sunday roast and in my opinion it was delicious; presented extremely well by friendly staff and cooked just right. We have visited a good few times and the atmosphere is always fun, friendly and warm. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike overlooking Exmouth Marina and just across the road Exmouth's main beach.

Had family dinner one member of group has dairy issues and the staff was fully focus explaining everything and suggesting options to adapt menu for their needs. The food was amazing you expect pub standard food but the quality and cooking was much more than pub grub. The scallops special starters was the bestI scallops meal I eaten. We all had the steak all to different level of cooking and all 3 was spot on our requirement. On top of food atmosphere was welcoming. We be going back in 2024.

We were a family group of 5 meeting together to remember a much loved family member who is no longer with us. So we were looking for a good meal, in nice surroundings, a good range of drinks and a relaxing experience. What we got was well presented and lovely food (the Sea Bass was amazing) A variety of local beers and great wines - all sensibly priced. Friendly and attentive staff gave us a great experience. The pub itself is a really nice to be. There were literally no negatives. The Beach Pub is a gem! We will certainly be returning.

Sunday Roast They have reintroduced Sunday roast now that the cold weather is coming. The pub was packed out but the landlady managed to find us a table for 2. We had the veggie option - mushroom wellington - and the roast beef. All the food was piping hot and fresh, the waiting staff were friendly and, although very busy, remained calm and composed under pressure. There is a great selection of real ales and wines. The pub was nice and clean with fresh flowers on the table which was a nice touch. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Another excellent meal last week with friends at The Beach. As usual food excellent with lovely service. Nothing too much trouble for Maisie and her team. Highly recommend this place for dinner, lunch or just a few drinks.

Heard a lot of good reports about this establishment but got to say my wife and myself were a bit underwhelmed..her fish was a greyish unattractive colour and the batter was soggy.My chicken/bacon burger was also disappointing..the chicken was so tough I wrapped it in a servette and will give to my dog for its dinner tomorrow.The staff were very friendly however and efficient.

We came here for dinner straight from a day at the beach. We hadn't booked, but were lucky to get a table outside. We are a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) and a dog. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was like a welcoming local - very much felt there was a mix of locals and holidaymakers. Really good menu with a good variety of dishes, something to suit everyone and very reasonably priced. So far a standard good pub - here's where The Beach raises itself above - our son (9yrs) is autistic, ADHD and Type 1 Diabetic. When ordering the food, I asked if they knew the carb count of his meal - there was no info (not at all unusual, not their fault), the lady at the bar, Lianne (not sure of spelling), was incredibly helpful and offered to google the ingredients to try and find out for me - obvs I refused, but really appreciated the gesture. During the meal, my son's PDM (personal diabetes monitor) ran out of charge - Lianne to the rescue again, she found a charger and charged it behind the bar for us so that we could adminster my son's insulin. She constantly checked in with us and was so nice to a very stressed mum (that's me). We asked if there were any dog treats we could buy, the lad behind the bar told us they were free - there was a jar on the mantelpiece. He said "We always take care of our furry customers". Just the loveliest place. We had such a good experience that we visited again on our week in Exmouth - this time we inadvertently ordered the wrong thing for our son (we're not usually this inept, I promise) and had to order a replacement meal, the staff were lovely, made sure that the meal came very quickly and were completely unflappable and reassuring. I would recommend The Beach to everyone visiting or living in Exmouth - delicious food, very dog friendly and so welcoming. Definitely the GOAT.

We visited twice on our week away. Both times were walk-ins and we were lucky enough to get a table both times. All good was lovely.

We came in on Tuesday evening for the last meal of our holiday. Our server was amazing throughout our meal and she made sure that our experience was excellent. Even made sure our dog got some treats! Food was so lovely, fresh and tasty; came out so quick! We ordered 3 fish and chips and a king burger!

A busy Saturday in the town so popped in for food. There is a Specials board so I had fishcake, slaw and chips. My friend had the fish pie. With 2 pints it cost £36. Service was great. Very quick. Food was ok. Not massive portions but hot and freshly cooked.

We were in Exmouth for annual big family holiday as usual. We stay near this pub, and use it regularly, however this year it surpassed itself. My husband visited at least once a day, we all met up in here frequently for drinks, get togethers and meals- all were fantastic. The staff were super helpful, food was really fresh and they serve a great range of drinks. Maisie is a wonderful landlady, whatever she is getting paid, it’s not enough!!

Have visited this pub in Exmouth on previous visits for drinks, but this time we stayed for food. We were not disappointed. Good menu with specials available. Food was very tasty and nicely presented by friendly efficient staff. Another point in this pubs favour is that it opens for food on a Monday, which in this day and age is a bonus as since Covid lots of pubs and restaurants do not open on Mondays.will definitely be back when I come to the area again.

Nothing wrong with the place in terms of decor and atmosphere, just the food was very overpriced for what it was. Though better presented than a generic chain like Wetherspoons the food had no more flavour but came in at 50% more expensive. The burger was particular poor for 15 quid. Usually for that price they will ask how you want your burger done, but no, it just came out dry and small; there was no salad, the most basic chips, and a pot of coleslaw no bigger than what you would get when you ask for a little bit of mayonnaise. On that note, I wasn't even asked if I wanted any sauces. The same for the linguine which was very spicy, but in a harsh way like they had just emptied the chilli powder inside, and just one or two prawns. As I say, if it had been £10 to reflect its generic blandness, then no quibbles, but when you are charging £15, it should have been much better than this.

We were booked in this evening for food and to see The Exmouth Shanty Men perform for their monthly performance. We were a table of 10, all our meals arrived promptly and at the same time, everything was fresh and tasted great. The singing was fabulous. A great evening all round! Maisie and her team are brilliant!
