The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Had a carvery here today (13/04/25.) It was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were amazing, helpful friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious. Couldn’t fault a thing. Would thoroughly recommend and will be back.

Had a great experience once again at the horns inn Ferndown the food was excellent service great staff welcoming and helpful from stay to finish poppy was a great server and is very helpful very impressed will be back again in the near future

Hubby & I needed some good food and a rest from "reality". Things have been a bit stressful lately, so a spontanious night out was what we decided. SO very pleased we did! We were greated by a lovely lad and shown to our seats and given the menu. I had already seen online the 3 course meal deal (which I also had via email) which we both went for. The food arrived in a very timely manner, tasted absolutely amazing, and we both ended up in a food coma afterwards! hahaha ;) They were not tiny plate sizes, which we thought they may be like they are in other places. Nope, this was the perfect size. We will be back again! Hoping you'll keep the deal on for a while too, cos we both want the same again!

Cozy pub for friends, with the view of sea. Good selection fo draft beers, and the buildijg itself is a historical landmark. Over 600 years!

Not really the type to complain but this here is a crime ! A robbery in broad daylight ! Ordered a lovely pint of Guinness as the sun is out and they’ve given me this glass instead of the proper Guinness one! Absolutely fumin ruined my day 🙂

I meet up with friends here once a week and can’t fault the place, the staff are so lovely and food is great, couldn’t recommend the place enough

No complaints here, good food, friendly service, good value. What else do you need? Well, okay, if you insist.... Free parking, refillable coffee, neat and tidy. Anything else...

We have been customers at the Boathouse ever since it opened. We always enjoy what we call a"Boathouse Evening" with friends and family and have never been disappointed. However our latest visit was not up to the usual high standard! We were greeted in a manner which can only be described as off hand and brusquely directed to our table. We were asked for a drinks order within seconds of sitting down. Our request for a little time turned out to be 30 minutes plus and then we had to attract the staff. Food order took another half an hour! The staff were rushed off their feet and clearly not coping, The food was excellent but the fish came with nothing else! We were warned! Asking staff for a finger bowl for our mussels produced a comment that we should have had one and were promised but none arrived! We shall be back but would hope that the service would improve considerably next time.

Great room with modern features, powerful shower along with a comfortable bed to end the day. The free parking and breakfast included is a bonus. Overall a great package.

A truly Bristolian spot with a fantastic vegetarian menu, plenty of local beer on tap and immaculate vibes. A great place to sit outside with a beer on a sunny day or inside with a bowl of homemade soup and bread on a colder day. Also fantastic in the evening as there's usually a live band or other event on.

First time visit and will be back for sure. Went for breakfast Lovely vibe, and beautiful views of the ocean. Service was great, attentive without being intrusive - an enthusiastic and friendly team. I really can’t say enough good things about them, they really stood out for their service. The food and drinks were good - my only criticism was that the portion of bacon was very small, 2 slices but thin and smaller than typical rashers. Having said that my companions’ were noticeably bigger so maybe I was just unlucky. Not enough to pit me off returning, in fact I will definitely be back. Probably for lunch. Prices are reasonable for the overall experience and fabulous setting It was busy, and I would strongly recommend booking Parking in nearby car park is easy, and free in winter.
