We stop here regularly en route from the motorway to home, south of Bath. Staff are always genuinely and friendly. The Sunday roast was very good and the portions generous. Special shout out to the lovely Hannah who always has a smile on her face.

The room was lovely, very clean with excellent furnishings and a very good shower. Accommodation is in little cottage style rooms away from the pub which are excellent. The staff were all wonderful and very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent too. The perfect place to stay if you are visiting Bath or the surrounding area, I would recommend getting the park and ride at Landsdown into Bath - very convenient and reasonably priced. The pub is on the main road so bear that in mind but it didn’t bother us and we will be back! Thank you team for your hospitality and a lovely short break.

Impressive (expensive for a pub) menu did not unfortunately live up to expectations or previous visit with original owners. Great location just off M4. Nice pub and building. Family members travelled long way to meet us so extra disappointed with the outcome. Go for a drink but avoid the food. My wife’s steak sandwich all bread and little steak! But ai did enjoy the calamari starter (@£9.25 over priced), and my ultimate cheese toastie (£11.00) but bread was a challenge to eat.

Such a lovely and warm place to stay… caring and friendly staff, superb and cozy rooms, great furnishings and very clean. Just off the M4 but located in the countryside makes this a quiet place to stay. Cottage-style rooms in a separate wing were ideal to rest and relax in a friendly atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner were tasty and nicely prepared. Great place to be!

I travel a lot, spending up to two weeks a month on the road. I have to say, this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. And trust me, I've stayed in a lot. The first thing that struck me, when I arrived, was the very pleasant welcome by the staff. The evening meal was of a high standard. I had the Malaysian seafood curry. Finally, the my room was very nice. Like a showroom, to be honest. I was really impressed with the attention to detail. Ground coffee. Staff gave me a flask of milk, rather than 4 puny milk capsules that is never enough for 3 people. Lavender spray for the pillows. Ear buds. Not that they were needed A DAB radio, along with a smart TV. I don't tend to return to the same hotels I've stayed in. But I return to this place, when I'm staying in the area. Highly recommended

This was the first time we'd visited in many years following the recent refurb. The pub looks great - cosy and inviting with relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of parking around the back. The food was tasty and a good choice, although we did need to buy fries as a side to make a substantial meal as they're not included in all mains. Prices fairly average for the current time. Our server was great - friendly, efficient and informative without being intrusive. We will definitely visit again. Can't comment on rooms as we live fairly close by but the little lodge rooms looked nice from the outside and would be a good base for walkers and close to drive to Bath / Castle Combe etc.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff and the customer service, everyone was extremely professional, helpful and friendly, and the communication about the booking was 100%. The hotel was nice and cozy, and rooms were comfortable and clean, and the restaurant was good. The only downside to the hotel is the location so close to the A46 into Bath, it was extremely noisy with road traffic all night. Sadly as a light sleeper I would not rebook a stay at this hotel.

Lovely rooms, spacious but cosy and warm feel. Bed & pillows were super comfy. Little details that really welcomed you, great beverage selection and upon checking in I was asked & given fresh milk in a small vacuum flask.. heaven. Even a little scented pillow spritzer next to the bed. I was actually shown to my room which is rare these days, the staff were super smiley and helpful. I could almost park outside my door and when with a dog, this is really helpful. I found dinning as a solo traveller with my dog very comfortable and the food on the whole was good but the risotto had issues.. The location is just off a busy main road but that was not a problem with night noise and I found a lovely across-field trek about half a mile down the road.

I was meeting a friend halfway that I had not seen in years. The welcome, service and food were fine. However, there was no mention of signing in the car registration and I have been fined £100. There probably is a sign in the pub that mentions signing in but if you are not aware why should a customer consciously see a sign when entering. Since the incident just mentioned, Kirstie, the manager, has been able to secure a refund of the fine paid. I should receive it in the next few days. Kirstie and her team work hard and are very busy, sometimes not being able to remind visitors to check the cars in and avoid a fine. Thank you Kirstie for resolving this issue. I look forward to visiting again soon. Dear Kirsty Thank you for dealing with the above parking issue. As mentioned above, I met a friend who was also fined. I had parked in the rear car park and she parked in the front car park. Her name is Helen Aldridge and the car number plate is FG16 XWM. I understand from Helen that if I confirm to you that I paid for the meal, you are then able to contact the car fine company and get the fine invalidated. Thank you very much for your help.

Ten of us visited The Crown for Mother's day lunch which left half us more than disappointed. The pushed together tables were cramped and on two different levels. For most it was very difficult to get in and out because of the fire place hearth and adjoining diners. Our food came well presented and hot, however the four of us who opted for the lamb were extremely disappointed with the pile of sinewy, fatty rubbish on our plates and the one chicken option was of poor quality, sparse and on the bone. My mother in law picked up the lamb and said "I wouldn't give this to a dog". Those of us who chose the beef and vegetarian options however were very satisfied with their meals. Now bearing in mind we were being charged £23.95 for inedible meat that is supposed to be the star of the show on any Sunday roast plate, we complained. We were offered free deserts for those with the lamb, which, at £6 each was less than adequate. On complaining again, the four mains were removed from our bill and an apology given about the chicken. The excuse of "Oh its a shoulder of lamb and that's always fatty" was given which begs the question why serve it then! My question to the chef is why did you think it would be acceptable to serve meat of such poor quality and expect to get away with in? Why when carving it didn't it dawn on you that maybe an alternative should of been offered with an explanation to your paying customers. Noone wants to have to complain and spoil what is supposed to be a happy occasion but we were left with little option.

The menu is imaginative and the food was well presented and very tasty. I had the beetroot starter followed by steak. Both were great. The best was yet to come - a take on Sticky Toffee Pudding with dates, caramel sauce, ice cream and cream. Delicious. Clearly the chef has a clear vision and knows how to cook. Only one ale on offer, but it was well kept. (I’d like a choice really). Service with a smile! A reasonable price too (~£50 pp, including drinks a service). I will be back soon and will recommend to my friends. Be sure to register your car to avoid a parking charge (presumably in operation to avoid it being used as a carshare plot, given its proximity to a motorway junction). Thanks for a lovely evening!

Booked in 2 months ago at their sister pub the Kings Arms Didmarton for 5 rooms and dinner. 6 days ahead they said they were closed but we could stay on a self check in basis but no pub open and no food!!! FINALLY - after a lot of effort - they offered a sister pub - The Crown - which we reluctantly accepted! Checked in and 5 of us had dinner. Just after 10.00pm we were told the door was being locked and we were “evicted” - even although our rooms were just across the car park! - despite the fact that as residents we wanted another drink or coffee. The manager was called and she told us how hard she had been working and how good they had been already allowing us to drink 15 minutes after they were closing!! These people have no concept of customer service. We - and our many friends - will NOT be using this group EVER again.

We came for a meal at the Crown Inn to meet with our extended family just before Christmas. We parked in the car park. On arrival, we were asked to enter our numberplate details on a keypad next to the bar, which we duly did. Three weeks later we received a parking penalty notice in the post suggesting that we parked without authorisation on the site. The penalty is £100. This has been a most unpleasant shock as we understood that we had entered our details and therefore wouldn’t be charged. Clearly the system is flawed. This totally changes our view of what otherwise would have been a pleasant experience. It is very unlikely that we will ever be visiting this place again.

Good food, good gluten free. A little slow service. But even the quiet side was so noisy. Couldn't hear each other speak. Needs some sound absorbing materials, please
