Chips were excellent, just a shame a large chips £4.20 was served in there smallest box. Dread to think what a small chip portion would look like .

Went here this evening for the first time for 2 battered sausage and chips and gravy. Only received one battered sausage and only realised when we got him. Rang them up and the till man said ‘what do you want me to do about it’ before hanging up the phone. Oh and also the gravy is just brown water.

Use this takeaway on a regular basis, fish n chips are always top notch, usually have to wait, which is not a problem, means the fish is always freshly cooked

I would not advise pre order on line any more .It used to work well I would order online early morning and pick food up at booked time ,i was always served straight away and food was ready .New people now serving so I have to wait in queue till all others have been served ,which makes it pointless to pre order as might as well just queue which I don't want to do as have extremely painful joints so find it difficult to stand for long .that is why i pre order and should just be able to go and pick up order

I went to the hanham Friar as our normal chip shop was shut. The chips were excellent and there were plenty of them and the Clarks pie was good. Good price and parking outside. Well worth it.

Best fish and chips in Bristol, great tasty fish in a crispy batter and chips to die for. Can get very busy friday and Saturdays but worth the wait.

Best chip shop in Bristol! Great chips - very succulent. We are northern and we know good chips when we taste them. We are an authority on all things potato based.

Been living in Bristol 10 years and still haven't found a decent Indian or Chinese. However, I have found this excellent fish and chip shop, by far the best in the area. The cod comes without the skin (hooray) and the batter is nice an light, not too stodgy or greasy, chips good too. Kids love it. Cheap as chips. Excellent service and fast. Much faster than some of the other local alternatives.

I have been going to the Abbots Friar since they opened several years ago. A traditional chippy offering all kinds of fish and pies plus Doners and hamburgers. Appropriately priced, and the food is good ranging upto very good plus. Chip quality varies minutely, so sometimes the chips are brilliant, other times good. Perhaps its the potato quality as the batter is always excellent. Friendly staff and worth traveling just that bit longer to try. There is an award winning chippy further along but we don't go there as the staff, on one occasion, were exceptionally rude to my children.

Take a punt on the Grumpy Griffin. It might be your lucky day but then again you might regret it. A mixed set of results from customers. Mine was negative. No real ale. Only a few peeps on Sunday mid-afternoon and one was drunk as a Lord and seemingly spoiling for trouble. Background music was fine. Quality tv showing a premiership game. Just cider, lager and Guinness on tap. Feels like a local pub where others are not made welcome.

This pub as not changed and in some ways got worse. This was for a birthday day meal for a family member and like last year 2 peace's of broccoli and 2 parsnips teaspoon of sweed mash at least there not trying to cover the plat with a giant Yorkshire pudding normal size this time. The thing what really annoyed myself was after 1 hour and half we were told we had to leave the table as someone else was coming in for two my partner had not finished her desert. And the other thing was after we had to go out side I bought my partner a hot chocolate the staff member said it's pink and the manager said it still tastes like hot chocolate but it didn't it was disgusting and I felt I had wasted £3.50. To top that of my son fell over going up there septs from the play area looked slippery. This place as not changed in my opinion it's a rip off if you want a family meal there you don't want to be rushed and all they want is your money and want you to leave. I don't really want to come back to this place.

We went with my family And friend Liz. The stuff were very friendly and hard-working. They don't take long to serve you. The food is really nice like the puddings.

Now called ACORN WESTERLEIGH. Namek and Richard have done a great job with completely changing this establishment. Now an Italian restaurant open from 0830 - 230pm and 5-10pm in the evenings with a great menu! A must try for everyone!
