Rang up about two weeks before to book a table on the valentines night, they said they could fit us in at 7.45 as they were very busy, we arrived at the given time, only to be told that they had no reservation in our name, the young lad said they were very busy, but we had booked. he eventually said he could find a table for us next to another couple, it was that close we might as well have been a foursome out for a valentines meal, and the table was in the middle of what is normally a passage to get to the bar and toilets, or we could wait for a table to clear, we declined, and went home as there was nowhere that could accommodate us on Valentine night. We have used the Brendon many times, but will think twice before booking again.

Love the fresh crab sandwiches here, but sadly today they were not available. Had fish and chips instead which was lovely and crisp. Ate outside and a seagull was waiting for scraps but it didn’t get a chance to. Local beer was Hella which spot on 👍

The hotel and gardens are decorated and maintained so beautifully and the hotel is comfortable, warm and cosy throughout. The Christmas decorations and roaring fires were so lovely in a cold December. All the staff across Reception, the Bar, the Restaurant etc were an absolute delight. The breakfasts were also delicious. We took our 6-month old puppy and there were many sweet touches for him such as as a dog bed and bowl ready in the room and a 'doggy sausage' at breakfast each morning. We were in a newly refurbished Cotswold double and it was decorated beautifully and was very comfortable. The only slight downside is that, likely because it's such an old building, the walls are very thin so you can hear your neighbours very clearly. This is the only reason i haven't given it the full 5 stars (I would give this 4.5 stars if Google allowed). It wouldn't stop me staying here again, I'd just take ear plugs next time. Brilliant location to explore Bourton on Water, Daylesford, Broadways, the Slaughters etc. Highly recommend staying here.

Overall, the Kings Arms is pretty good. It's an old building which is quite attractive but I'm not sure about the fairy lights everywhere on the ceiling! Beer is well kept and the food offering is pub grub - nothing pretentious and nowhere near 'fine dining' but good, wholesome, well cooked and presented food. The only downside was the service from the staff - one minute taking your plate away whilst you're chewing the last mouthful, the next you have to go looking for someone to take a dessert order! Why does no one serving customers scan the room theses days to see if anyone needs attention?
