Stayed here for one night, for the price, cannot go wrong! Room; The room is quite small, well suited for a single traveller and is within walking distance to the city. Bed was comfy. After the pub closed, it was super quiet so let you sleep easy. For me, perfect when it came to temperature too, though I like the fact a heater is in the room incase not to your liking. Bathroom; The shower is huge! Normally, in hotels, I'm smashing my elbows off of everything, but this one was great, decent temperature. Toilet when sitting was a bit narrow on account of the big shower but that's not a bad thing in my book. Food; As the hotel is above the pub, it makes travelling for food nice and easy as it's only downstairs. Dinner was decent, it was a reasonable price and was properly done by the taste of it (Hunters chicken didn't seem microwaved at least like most hotels do) However, the food is where I put the service to 4*, for one reason, breakfast. To be clear, I did not try the breakfast even though I wanted to because it wasn't served until 11am, way too late in my opinion. The barman was nice enough to tell me where to go the day before, but definitely was an annoyance for me.

Great location Within walking distance of the city centre and the train station. Car park outside is cheaper than in the city centre ones. The Staff were friendly and polite, the pub is clean and the food was very tasty. We had the breakfast (double up) and we were very impressed. Everything was great produce, the only thing I wish is that I had more mushrooms, next time I'll ask for extra. The seem to do great deals on drinks and have a pool table and sports on, so I reckon it's a busy pub on the weekends and evenings, Great prices and Overall very happy. Will be coming back

Booked a room after traveling for LASIK eye surgery. The lady at the bar was helpful and accommodating. The room was standard for the cheap price, but I found it very noisy (the pub was playing music, it was close to the road, and there was a lot of door opening and closing). I can't comment on the food as I didn’t eat, but there's a Co-op nearby for supplies. Overall, not bad for a cheap night’s stay, but bring earplugs!

Absolutely appalling!!! Booked a room for a work event as we needed to be in Exeter for the evening. Although we only paid £80 and weren't expecting much, it wasn't even worth £10. It was like walking in to a used uni accommodation. A used dirty glove over a fire alarm, windows big enough to crawl through on to the roof, a shower that isn't even on the wall and half fallen off. I went to the bar and complained and the staff agreed after examination. Shortly after phoning the manager steve, their opinions quickly changed as he said it was like that as it is being "decorated". If its being decorated why was I given this room for the night? Absolutely appalling and I have taken this to environmental health and the council. I hope they shut down. I am a hotel director myself and I'm embarrassed. Total lack of management. Even the staff agreed with me!!

And the manager knew I booked it to watch the whole football game.. and they could have reserved any other table in the pub but it had to be ours! Staff were lovely apart from a lady behind the bar who was just rude! It was perfectly adequate for a quick one night stop over at a cheap price. I only had a single room booked. It was small but suited my needs, could do with a revamp, but I suspect this would bring the rooms upto a higher price. I wouldn't recommend for a couple on a romantic evening or weekend away. Staff were perfect, I was shown to my room promptly on arrival.

Staying just down the road, we popped into this pub for an evening meal. We grabbed a table and perused the menu with its fairly standard pub grub. Other than the Cajun chicken. There was also an extensive blackboard menu with dishes with a Caribbean look about them. And a tempting goat curry. In the end I went with the Cajun chicken which came with chips and a small side of coleslaw. The spices on the chicken were tasty although the chicken itself was just a little dry for my palate. My wife's cheeseburger also came with chips and coleslaw. It was tasty. Drinks were well priced - or our wines were, at least. Staff were friendly. Tables were close together.

A few miserable matchstick of parsnips and a few cold peas were left , no one bothered to replenish these sorrowful veg. The meat was cut with a cleaver that looked like it needed sharpening. Some of it I couldn't cut let alone eat. The waitresses were great friendly and chatty. I will NOT go there again!

Agree with the reviews which say the website has outdated prices (and menu items!) and that the food is nothing special. It's reasonable pub food but Blighty is Pub Central and a pub in this country needs to be a bit more than reasonable/average. Vegetables quite uninspired; chips nothing to write home about, and the fish was.... It's a pleasant place but not really worth the money.

Not been here for a while, dropped in for a quiet drink after a meal out in Exeter, but quite honestly I was shocked at how far it had fallen. It was totally empty, and I could see why. A large water leak on one side of the pub, blocking the pool tables, with a doorway surrounded by a mishmash of water buckets - looked like it had been there for a while. Toilets broken and unuseable (had to use the disabled). Drunken bar staff who seemed very proud of the fact they were ill - announcing it by coughing all over us! Beer that was off and had to be thrown away. Not a pleasant experience, won't be heading back in a hurry.

So we were visiting my daughter in Uni and walked past this place and it looked nice, we went in and asked for a table but they said they were fully booked but had some seats outside, it was a lovely day so we decided to eat outside. Anyway we ordered at the bar ( very reasonable price ) and then headed for the food. Let me just say this point that the Chief on the day (15/10/23) was super friendly and really made the effort, he even asked if would would like more meat (first time I've been asked that in a Carvery) his smile and friendliness really made the difference, infact all the staff were smiling and polite. The food was lovely and fresh and tasty, the kids (ones 18 lol ) didn't have the roast dinner but they also loved there food as well. This pub is very close to the hotel we were staying in nearby and if you ever want a quick drink, a quick bite to eat or a game of pool - this is a great pub to go to. We went in for breakfast one morning and although it was a simple order (Bacon Sandwich and a Sausage Sandwich) - this wasn't a problem for the chef! The menu is simple, but there's a great range and will suit some dietary requirements as well. We also managed to squeeze in some dinner on one of the days as well, and my husband really liked the Chilli Con Carne! The Spaghetti that I had from the Children's menu (didn't have a great appetite that day, so opted for this instead) - was good too and comes with Garlic Bread. We had a few drinks here after a day out in the city centre and enjoy the company of the bartender and the small company in and around the bar on a week day. Lovely pub, felt very much at home and the drinks and menu were reasonably priced too.

The customer service rep at the end even agreed to take a photo for us( which she didn't have to do) they also managed to turn the TV down in our eating area, but still have it up enough to watch the football( it was a very busy publican house). Interesting to see the crowd massive at 8pm and down to minimal at 1030 as unfortunately England fell out of rhe World Cup. Also had someone the chefs ask as I went to pay how was the for I said we were really happy portions were the right size. We sorted our own drinks. All the food seem to dissappear of the plate. I love it. And on a Cold winters night beautiful! Hit the spot. Would have liked to have added coffee or tea in a the end as part of it , but if we'd been finishing early enough we would have been able to get one anyway,so that works too. The place was very Friendly. It was a bit cold from not having any heating on. But we’re very accommodating when we asked if the heating could be put on. Food was nice. Basic room to stay in. Once again it was cold. But given an extra heater make the room warmer.

The Farmers Union stayed true to word, as it was like sleeping in a cow barn. Cold, damp and miserable. The shower had about as much power as my nan and she’s been dead for 5 years. The beds were like sleeping on hay, and there was no heating. I felt like Jesus, laying in a manger. To top this all off, I had to wake up and look at a quote on the wall saying live laugh love. Would 100% recommend!

Very lovely pub with good drinks selection. Were very accommodating to a quick drink before catching my train. My dog was treated to a few roast scraps that was very appreciated! Both of us (dog and I) felt very welcome and will certainly come again.

Price far too high for offered conditions. Window is dirty. Even if closed you still hear what is going on outside. Shower is full of black mould. The sink in the bathroom is so small that after washing hands most water end up on the floor. Im 6.1ft. Bed is far too short. When phoned the owner, he put phone down.

Good food and a good service, but wow, it felt like the staff had somewhere to be afterwards! Was there a party to go to? The service was very rushed and we didn’t have time to breathe from starter to dessert!! Such a shame considering everything else was to a good standard…

We popped in here after a family day at Crealy, good location and plenty of parking. Staff were brilliant very quick helpful and polite, carvery was really good plenty of meat and lots of veg options. Only thing that let the place down was the toilets were vile I mean disgusting and the place it's self isn't that clean, really gross carpets and dated.
