I very rarely write reviews but I feel I must on this occasion. After many years of visiting this pub for meals with little problem last night’s experience was a disaster and very disappointing. The young lady allocated to look after us seemed very nervous and unsure of what she was doing. Drinks came reasonably quickly but she had to be summoned after 25 minutes to take our food order. We ordered a sharing platter of breads which came after a further 20 minutes and believe it or nor our main courses came out a further 60 minutes later. After many reminders about the delay we had no feedback as to the cause and a party of 6 who arrived after us had their meal 25 minutes before us. We were told at one point that our meals were ‘being plated up’ but did not appear for a further 20 minutes. They were not really apologetic and were very reluctant to accept any responsibility. They were very reluctant to reduce the bill but eventually did so. On the plus side we were happy with the food when it eventually came but the unacceptable delay really spoiled our evening. We will not be coming back!

We had an amazing experience at The Passage House Inn! It’s always a treat when a restaurant not only delivers excellent food but also goes above and beyond with their service, even during busy times. We arrived without a booking at a very busy time & the amazing staff found us a table. What can I say about the food other than it was brilliant. Experiences like this make dining out memorable. We cannot wait to visit again on our next trip to the UK.

Best stake and ale pie I have had in years! We went on a Monday lunchtime to shelter from the rain and wind, and welcomed by a warm fire, a lovely team serving at the bar and a plentiful menu! Our 1st trip to Topsham, We walked along the estuary in the sunshine and then had a great lunch in the pub. It was difficult to choose as so much sounded good on the menu. We all had starters, scollops lovely, and a big portion of whitebait, which was meant to be a "small nibble!" We all had a different main course, my flat bread was really great, steak pie was epic and beef ciabatta was good. Lovely location, friendly staff, and we will be back. Thanks x

Good points first…. Great location, staff were lovely… bad points I think the chef accidentally let the top of the salt cellar drop off, my food had so much salt in it! Especially the mash potato! Going to be so dehydrated tomorrow! We also had a group of workmen next to us , who were only drinking beer in the dining room f..ing and blinding, which ruined our meal. We will return but only for drinks and the view.

Love this pub - we are locals and come here relatively often for drinks. Great location and the staff are great. Went for dinner on a Friday afternoon at 5pm. Pub quite busy but not overly. We were sat in the bottom room which seemed set up for food but there was a table of workmen next to us who had clearly just knocked off and were VERY excited for the weekend f-ing and blinding and getting more and more rowdy - it became a bit too much. Maybe separate the diners from the drinkers? Starters - shell-on king prawns - gorgeous but no finger bowl should’ve asked really but thought I’d get some abuse from the workmen for being posh (they commented on every plate that came out) - wife’s breaded chicken was somehow slimey?? Mains - sirloin steak ordered medium - was over cooked - wife’s steak pie was nice but the mashed potatoes were sooooo salty I couldn’t feel my teeth after trying them! All veggies and salads were lovely and fresh and service was great. Disappointing food experience but we do love the pub….

The venue and surroundings are beautiful, especially on a summers evening. However, for us last night thats where the magic ended! Our table was booked for 6:45npm, we arrived 5mins early, the bar was packed and when we ordered our food we were told it would be about 30mins. not a problem at all as we enjoyed the outside atmosphere, after all its was a special night for my husband and I. The bread & Olives arrived shortly after. The mains took atleast an hour and a half to arrive after chasing them up twice!!!!! Eventually our meals arrived, so by 8:40Pm , although we were pleased to see the food we had some what gone passed it bt then. On leaving i asked to speak with the Manager, who was unapologising and arrogant! He blamed his staff for not clearing the order!! When i said i may write a review, He told me not to threaten him with Trip Adviser. to which i said i wasn't threatening at all....... The rest of the young staff were lovely and felt bad not leaving them a tip, something i would always do as i work in a simular industry. We really got the feeeling that he was resting on the surrounding/venue he has and not at all for the Service he supplied?1?111

Dropped off my son to meet his mates in the bar. Caught a glimpse of a parking sign as I left so I messaged my son and asked him to register so that I didn’t get a fine. He couldn’t find the machine to register and when asked a member of staff was told “oh, it will be fine if your dad was only in here a few minutes”. Today through my leasing company a fine arrived and there is no option to appeal it, and the file has been added to my lease fee. Went in to the Beefeater today and asked about it, but was told it’s nothing to do with them as the car park is run by a separate company.

We are locals and love Topsham - the pub is lovely and in a great setting - the bar and service staff are friendly and efficient. We ate on a Monday bank holiday evening - unfortunately a lot of the menu wasn’t available due the the busy weekend which is understandable but it would’ve been nice to know this ahead of arriving. By the time we had eaten there were only burgers left which put a few people off and who then left. My chicken parmigiana was awful, it had what tasted like Heinz tomato soup on it. I also nearly ate a small sharp piece of plastic which was in my salad. It cut the inside of my mouth. The manager was called, said “sorry about that” and disappeared never to be seen again! Wife’s fish pie was also boring and tasteless. Shame really, lovely location…
