Nice place and nice position. I had the chicken bacon and brie burger, followed by the rice pudding. The burger, whilst tasted nice was lacking some filling, the chicken was about the same thickness as the bacon so felt a bit empty but tasted good, chips were nice. Rice pudding was good. Would return again

Stopped off for lunch. A warm greeting on our arrival and shown to a table straight away. The bar has a selection of hand pulled ales, which the staff were only too happy to pull tasters for us. The fish and chips that I ate were delicious. The fish being cod, it was very meaty. Good price and in my opinion, it's well worth eating here.

So close to being a full 5 stars, but... The good bits. The service is exceptional, with a friendly, knowledgeable front of house team. It was busy, with a great atmosphere and a really welcoming vibe. The food was fantastic, with a really good selection of fish dishes on the specials board. But... and this really was the only negative... The plates were cold! This meant our food, amazing as it was, cooled quite quickly. Otherwise, it was a fantastic evening, and you're on Exeter's historic quayside, so there are plenty of places to explore nearby.

I was in for a beer with the boys, waiting at the bar. Having a nice time while waiting for a Guinness to settle, a young lady came up to question her pints of Coca Cola being flat. The member of staff was happy to change them, however for some reason, I am guessing the manager, got really annoyed and lost his head. The young lady was very polite and didn’t get angry. He shouted at her saying it was her fault for not having ice or lemon in her drink. The pub was very busy, so maybe they ran out? Personally, I’ve never heard of that. Just seamed like a strange reaction and really awkward to watch. However, I had a good pint of Guinness and my mate enjoyed a nice pint of Jale Ale. It was a shame how that manager shouted at someone. It completely ruined my experience. I won’t be coming back if that’s how he treats customers! Plenty of other bars in the same area

We were in Exeter and looking for some reasonably priced well cooked food. BINGO!!! Lovely ambiance. Spacious and comfortable, somewhere you could easily lose an afternoon in whether you’re dining, drinking or just relaxing with a hot drink and your dog. The service was perfect. You felt attended to and there was good chat without it being over familiar. Amazing menu choices. Something for everyone. Wow wow wow wow wow to the food. Fish and chips….. yum 🤤 Chilli with chocolate….. nailed it! Chicken burger…… inhaled …. Hake with chorizo …. thing of beauty 😋 Steak …. Perfectly cooked I need to mention the chips. Chips are a treat for us and these were how chips should be. Crispy, light, crunchy, unctuous and with battery bits. Secondly everything was cooked beautifully. The hake melted in your mouth, the chicken in the burger wasn’t breaded and dry … what a relief. Would 100% recommend and return if in the area. It was night time when we arrived. Would love to see the view of the quay in the daylight.

Discovered this little gem of an eatery whilst on a bimble around Exeter with favourite wife. Although we made a reservation for 1300, comedy shopping resulted in a two hour delay to our arrival. Instead of being upset, the amazing team saw the funnier side of our tardiness and welcomed us to the gem of a restaurant overlooking the quay. Whilst the view was lovely, the food (fish and chips) was sublime and a good ' healthy' portion... So good in fact that I didn't need the cheese board .. which was a shame as it sounded delicious. Whilst the food and view are excellent, it was the amazing staff who totes topped off the visit with polite, friendly and a caring approach. A real gem in what can be a busy city. Definitely worth escaping the routine haunts around the cathedral and stretching them legs in support of a fantastic experience.

We have been to The Prospect for the past few weeks to watch the jazz on the quay & I wanted to say a very well done to the staff for the way they manage the influx of many more customers for these Sunday afternoon events. They are polite, friendly & very efficient. I would guess that today they may even have been short staffed (they are advertising vacancies) but still they are busily making sure that no-one waits too long. They are removing empty glasses speedily & keeping everything tidy. Great job & congrats to the management.

So… myself, partner and the two younger children visited the quay as we often do, we had fish n chips and it was quite a miserable evening. We were just outside this establishment and thought why not move a bench, where we could eat under cover. This resulted in moving one of the very many vacant benches less than 1ft…. Within a few seconds a very aggressive and rude male, came stomping over pointing and shouting in front all four of us.. not interested in the fact were just about to order a drink (which we subsequently didn’t and never will there EVER AGAIN). I appreciate maybe the benches aren’t to be moved, however it was simply how he handled it. It traumatised the children who now never want to go to the quay ever again. His behaviour was simply appalling and so so over the top. He stated he was licensee, if that’s his typical demeanour god help his staff and regular customers. I’m a reasonable adult, so swiftly moved the very heavy bench back… if I’m honest I was shocked by his behaviour and others may of been less accepting of his aggressive nature. The End!

Located on the historic quay in Exeter, The Prospect Inn oozes memories of travelers from far afield whilst being progressive with its food and drink. The staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The menu was full of things I wanted to try and I settled for the chilli which was not too spicy with a dark chocolatey feel to the dish. My wife had the steak and ale pie which she describes as “ excellent and meaty “. Our son, who we were visiting at Uni had a beautiful plate of fish and chips which he devoured in true student fashion! Our three dogs may have had a few cheesy chips. All in all a great lunch and due to it being dog friendly we will be sure to visit again. Thanks.

Culinary Delight Beyond Expectations I recently had the pleasure of dining at Prospect, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by an inviting ambiance that set the stage for a memorable evening. The menu at Prospect is a testament to culinary innovation, featuring a diverse selection that caters to various tastes. Each dish was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with a perfect balance of flavors and presented with an artistic flair. The attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience was truly commendable. The service was impeccable, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff who elevated the overall atmosphere. They were attentive without being intrusive, creating an environment that felt both refined and welcoming. Standout dishes included venison, which showcased the chef's culinary prowess. The wine pairing recommendations were spot-on, enhancing the overall dining experience. In addition to the exceptional food and service, the ambiance of the restaurant was thoughtfully designed, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Whether it's a special occasion or a desire for an exquisite culinary adventure, Prospect undoubtedly delivers an unforgettable dining experience. Half an hour wait for a DRINK! Asked for tap water to sip on until then and was told I'll be with you when I can. Very shoddy service indeed.

Whenever we go to this restaurant we’re greeted with a smile. Our waitress last night was JADE who went out of her way to give us a great experience. Nothing was too much , she is a credit to the team!

We are locals and love Topsham - the pub is lovely and in a great setting - the bar and service staff are friendly and efficient. We ate on a Monday bank holiday evening - unfortunately a lot of the menu wasn’t available due the the busy weekend which is understandable but it would’ve been nice to know this ahead of arriving. By the time we had eaten there were only burgers left which put a few people off and who then left. My chicken parmigiana was awful, it had what tasted like Heinz tomato soup on it and was accompanied by frozen hash brown bites - the ones you get from Iceland. I also nearly ate a small sharp piece of plastic which was in my salad. It cut the inside of my mouth. The manager was called, said “sorry about that” and disappeared never to be seen again! Wife’s fish pie was also boring and tasteless. The gin and tonic was nice. Shame really, lovely location…

Cycled past the Passage House and stopped for lunch, great food and service. The lasagna was great and the mussels the same.
