Brilliant food, service and ambience. A pub with at least 4 real ankles and 2 real ciders plus all the usual keg beers. A good wine menu too. Well deserved ratings, and CAMRA pub of the year 2023 as well!

Warm welcome anytime. A fantastic local with great food and top beers . Staff are amazing and the events are always loads of fun . There are quizzes, live music, themed evenings or quiet drinks with friends. 💯

Really nice atmosphere, recommend sitting near the fire, and Richard was very nice and did not mind answering our questions. Only minor points - food took a while and the cauli starter was very small - but the mains were excellent and freshly made so definitely worth waiting for. The borscht was delicious, the Thatch burger was absolutely out of this world and the pork belly was very tasty. Lunch and drinks for three of us came to sixtyish quid without desserts which is more than reasonable. We'll definitely be back!!

Went here today with family and first time…really nice carvery,4 meats beef, pork,gammon and turkey.there was crackling pigs n blankets just extra special s.i had the 4 meats and omg I have never had so much meat on my plate! The whole family left so much meat and the waitress gave me a tub to take it home for my dog Roxy. The staff were lovely and made you feel welcome.i would definitely come back again and soon I hope! And I would highly recommend this experience to my friends and work colleagues.it may be a small carvery outlet but it’s more comfy and cosy than those larger carvery places that skimp on the meat,this place do not ! We have driven past this pub many times but never got around to going in - we finally booked for Sunday carvery and we are very glad we did! Fabulous friendly and very efficient service, excellent food and a lovely atmosphere what more could you want. We will definitely be back again soon.

Cannot rate the Thatch highly enough! Had my 50th Birthday meal there last night and as usual the food and service were amazing! Carly cannot do enough for you, serving us drinks and checking everything was ok. My steak was cooked to perfection as was all the food. Eaten here many times and always our go to place. Would not have had my 50th birthday celebrations anywhere else!!

I am so glad we looked at reviews for a good roast in Exeter and chose The Thatched House. Really friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to look after us. Good value carvery at £13.95 with everything you want and the chatty friendly Chef allowed me to have all 4 meats which were all really good. A constructive criticism was that some of the veg could maybe a little warmer (or hotter gravy) and it would be a 10 out of 10. Great place, great staff. Thank you.

Dogs are allowed. Friendly staff 👍 over cooked gammon but I was still happy to eat it 🙂. But good overall 🎉 I’ll definitely be back.

The current owners are trying a bit to hard to make this an upmarket gastropub when it always used to function best as a down to earth, spit and sawdust drinking establishment.

We visited the thatched house for their Macmillan coffee morning. We had great homemade cakes and coffee. We stayed for lunch and were impressed with their food and real ales. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We will visit again.

We visited the Thatched House for my Birthday as it was central for us all to meet up from Beer, Plymouth and Bristol. We chose it as it was wheelchair accessible and dog friendly. A huge shout out to Cameron who was just wonderful. We were running late but you were so patient, allowed us to sample a couple of beers and made sure we were all doing okay. The food was great and the choice of beers top notch! Thanks so much to the team!

We had the pleasure of eating here a couple of weekends ago. Absolutely delighted with the standard of service and the food. We generally only have starters and mains as we find the desserts offered in other places to be poor value for money and very unimpressive. At The Thatched House however we couldn’t resist a dessert when the waitress came over with the dessert board. Highly recommended if you are in the area!

We visited after a couple of recommendations, after a walk along the quay. We were there at lunchtime on Sunday and it was busy with a good atmosphere and there were enough friendly and efficient staff. We had the carvery with a choice of four meats and fresh and tasty vegetables and delicious roasties and Yorkshire puddings. Vegetarian options were also available including quite a few on the main menu. We were too full for pudding but there was a wide range that looked very tasty so we’ll look forward to returning to try them!

Great food served by pleasant patient staff. We enjoy the Quiz nights and snacks. My Adult son is very hard of hearing and told Paul who managed to get him nearer to a table at the front. We Also love the choice of food and take Relatives there when they visit from other regions and abroad. We love Nelson,Cameron, Natalia and very pleasant serving staff.

Really like this local pub. Hope it's not rude to say don't expect a perfectly polished gastro pub type vibe, it's a bit rough around the edges (in the nicest way possible)..but what speaks most about it is just a really nice atmosphere, friendly staff, nice fun bunch of locals inside.

What a wonderful little pub! Tucked away just outside Exeter, this little gem has a fantastic range of food and a good atmosphere. As a celiac, I am somewhat nervous around eating out but the staff here wholeheartedly reassured/guided me and I ended up having a wonderful gluten free meal. I didn't manage to get our hostess' name but she was able to chat me through the whole process and made sure the kitchen was aware of my allergy. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out the front in the sunshine. I would 100% return again!

A lovely pub, I've very much enjoyed our visits on a Wednesday evening for their pub quiz, and will be visiting again soon for a good post work catch up. It gives the feel of what some people describe as a 'proper' pub, that's also friendly to new faces and the staff are great at their jobs 👌

We visited The Thatched House for a quick 'half' on Saturday evening and were welcomed with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the like of which is often sadly lacking in pubs these days. The well kept ale was enjoyed in a hostelry which keeps the ambience of an English country pub in a city suburb. Very much looking to visiting again. Thankyou for a lovely visit.

I love this place. Everytime I return I remember what a great pub it is. Paul and Nataliya and their staff are fab. It hads a lovely local vibe, balanced with friendliness to strangers. The food is always great. The menu always has reliable favourites, alongside more adventurous options that are interesting, current and tasty. There's a resident cat called napoleon which is the icing on the cake.

We have just had the most awesome Sunday carvery at this pub. A party of 6 with 2 dogs and I have to say it’s the most dog friendly pub we have visited, they even brought out a bowl of Sunday roast for our dogs...
