Nice pub, friendly landlord and staff. Three real ales all well kept. Dinner was good, prices reflect other local pubs. Good parking - we stayed overnight in our motorhome. Lovely village, friendly locals and great location for walking the Thames path.

We visited for lunch with a friend. Pub looks very homely with a roaring log fire in the middle of a lovely village! Don't let this deceive you (like it did me). Food is overpriced and very very average. £10 for a couple of bacon slices tucked inside granary bread with some limp lettuce is an outrage. What's more outrageous though is that when you go to pay they AUTOMATICALLY add a 10% service charge to the bill for both the dank sandwiches and the drinks! In restaurants I've seen a service charge added but I've NEVER been ripped off with an underhand service charge by a barmaid in a pub before! Service charge .... 10% Service charge .... All that was missing was any form of service. This place is a total rip off - their food is not even average and they are totally underhand in their pricing .... I didn't realise I'd been robbed until I got home .... I won't be visiting again ... I will warn every one I can about this disgraceful place. Don't go - they don't deserve your custom .... and if you do go .... Don't get robbed (like I was)

I was totally ripped off when I visited this pub for lunch last week. Sandwiches were massively overpriced for £10 each and my BLT consisted of a couple of slices of poor quality bacon and a bit of limp lettuce. When we got the bill a service charge of 10% was added to the drinks and food total for service! Ha ., what service? Totally underhand and a total rip off meaning my dank sandwich cost £11 and not £10. I've seen a service charge added in restaurants many times but NEVER in a pub when you stop for a pint and a sandwich. The charge was not pointed out to me when I paid and I didn't spot it until I got home. Absolutely outrageous - the owners should hang their heads in shame for ripping off their local customers I won't be visiting again and I will tell everyone, locally, I can to avoid this place .... Dick Turpin was more honest than the owners of The Bakers Arms .... Such a shame as Somerford Keynes is a lovely village only spoiled by a greedy greedy landlord at the local hostelry.

Came for a birthday celebration with friends as had visited the pub 2 years previously and the food and service had been top notch. Not so this time unfortunately. Waitress that served us was pleasant but the food was average at best. When we complained about a couple of things we were met by a very surly and rude landlord/manager who instantly went on the defensive and came across as quite aggressive. Will not be returning which is a real shame as the pub is located in a beautiful village.

This cozy pub is a must-visit in the winter when the fireplace is crackling. While the indoor ambiance may feel less inviting during the summer, their spacious garden offers a delightful outdoor pizza experience. We enjoyed our meal, and though the service was a bit underwhelming, it was likely due to a new waitress learning the ropes. A leisurely walk from Lower Mill Estate, I'll definitely be returning here again in the colder months.

Went for Saturday night dinner, items on menu not available. Predominately frozen fried food. Closed kitchen at 8:30, failed to advise those dining to order desserts before, so we had none. Awful wine list. Nothing like the last time I went.

We visited for a spontaneous lunch and were extremely disappointed by the quality of the food, especially given the prices that were as high as other establishments in the area renowned for good or high quality food. The soup was very salty and appeared to have come from a packet, rather than home made, because it had lumps of what seemed to be a powdered mix. We found more than one hair in the side dish of chips. And the cheese and rocket sandwich arrived with no rocket in it, a lump of cheddar on some plain white bread accompanied by what was supposed to be a salad. That is if you can count one lettuce leaf, one slice of cucumber and one tomato as a salad. We didn't! The steak burger was fine as far as it goes, but still over priced. The garden needs some attention e.g. chipped and uneven paving stones. The young women serving were friendly and welcoming. Given the competition in the area there are many other pubs and restaurants where you would get far better food for the same price. The pub needs to up its game if it is going to survive.

Don’t bother for food. £10 for a sandwich with four crisps and a pinch of salad. Two hairs in the side of chips and they had forgotten to put the rocket in the sandwich which I raised and they added. My mums soup had chunks of powder in it so it was basically an £8 cuppa soup. Such a shame that the foods so bad now

Mixed review here. Pub with pub food and pizza, no beer menu, so we just gambled a bit. The pizza was fine, the halloumi and the fish n chips mediocre. You can sit outside. Nice service, that's for sure. Pub is a 15 minute walk from Lower Mill Estate.

Very disappointing experience, such a shame that staff just didn’t care. Six of us booked in for a roast dinner and the pub looked beautiful from outside. The Sunday menu offers a roast only, which we were happy with - who doesn’t love a good roast? We went to the bar and ordered our food - two roast dinners without drinks came to £42.00. I asked and they said they had added gratuities, this wasn’t advertised on the menu or given as an option. The service was simply terrible, food came out a plate at a time, no vegetables so the meat and potato went cold and had to be sent back. Cauliflower cheese was supposed to be served with it (they confirmed at the bar) and it wasn’t. One person paid for extra cauliflower cheese and it came out eventually. Bright yellow packet cheese sauce mix, tasted awful. The other dinners arrived 15 minutes later were missing the roasties, just two small roast potatoes. We complained and were brought out a few more once the plates were empty. Every one of the meats seemed like wafer thin, pre cut packet meat, tasteless. The only nice thing on the plate was the crispy roast potatoes. As a group of 6 we were precharged over 10% gratuities. We asked for this to be refunded which was agreed without asking what was wrong. At no point were we asked for feedback. I was asked if I wanted any condiments, I can only assume this was forgotten about or maybe they would have delivered it as a desert. Beautiful place - shocking food, poor service. Get a new chef, train the staff and it could be the ideal country pub.

We came to this pub for a lunchtime meal and our original impressions were positive. They were very busy, with no meal available for over an hour but the landlady kindly offered to fit us in earlier. However they were serving pizzas outside and as there were no customers around it we decided to order from there as we thought it would be quicker. A rather surly young man took our order at 12.20 pm with no pleases and thank yous and no information. We then went and got a drink served by a friendly woman at an outside bar and sat in the busy garden to await our order. It turned out that many of them were also awaiting pizzas because they don't start cooking them until 12.30. Strange they start so late but it would have been nice to have been given this information and we would have chosen a different meal. At 13.10 my wife went to ask how much longer it would be and was rudely rebuffed by an older man with 'It comes when it comes'. The pizza arrived about 10-15 minutes later and was actually quite good although it contained no ham that was one of the main ingredients advertised. We didn't complain about this as we didn't have time to wait for them to be amended and were nervous of the attitude of this man. I have looked back at other review and we are not the only ones to experience rudeness, the words please, thankyou and sorry go a long way when talking to customers!

Very mid Sunday roasts, the lamb was tough and over cooked. After asking about the possibility of a gluten free starter we were then harassed about ordering one despite stating multiple times we didn't want one. After that clear indication that gluten free was required, the meal delivered had a Yorkshire pudding. Not gluten free. The wrong drinks were delivered and the staff were rather hostile to my mother. Would not go back, which is a shame since it was so nice a year ago.

We visited this pub as it was clearly noted as dog friendly whilst on our trip away. We sat in the sunny pub garden with our 2 dogs, however the owners had 2 black Labrador type dogs who continuously circled around each table/area sniffing/begging for food and they kept snarling and growling at our dogs (who I might add were happily sitting on the floor minding their own business.) It was clearly obvious that the people who worked there were aware of this happening and made no effort to stop the dogs from doing this which unfortunately ruined our experience. We then noticed the landlord speaking unnecessarily rudely towards a younger member of his staff, other staff were swearing/shouting towards each other.

Popped in here whilst getting towards the end of a very long walk. We were looking for food but unfortunately we missed the cut off by about 20 minutes. We had a pint at the bar instead. This place had a strange feel to it, quaint village pub on the outside, but it felt different inside. No real welcome that you’d expect from a village pub, and felt pretty down trodden inside. Not sure why but felt more like a working man’s pub instead. Didn’t feel anything special to keep us there, so we left and headed back to a pub in another town.

A very disappointing visit on Saturday. When my son was choosing an ale, there was a misunderstanding between him and the lady serving him resulting in half a pint of the wrong beer being poured before he stopped her. The landlord was walking past and gave a disapproving look. On seeing the landlords reaction my son offered to pay for the wasted half, even after this the landlord made a very condescending comment about him not knowing the difference between cask and keg beer. A totally unnecessary comment and quite rude. I won't be rushing back.

Our recent visit to Baker's Arms was a complete let down, all thanks to the astonishingly rude new owner. Despite having a reservation and confirmation email, we were made to wait before being told they had no tables available and we'd have to wait at least two hours The owner's dismissive attitude persisted throughout, casting a negative shadow on the unfortunate experience. The only silver lining to this story is that I've since read the terrible reviews about the food on TripAdvisor and think we probably dodged a bullet. Thankfully we did find an alternative venue for lunch (Thankyou @Ballihoo restaurant!), who bent over backwards to accommodate us at very short notice! I think its a terrible shame that at a time where pubs desperately need the support of local communities, individuals like this choose to behave as they do. Therefore I would strongly advise avoiding the Baker's Arms - a forgettable disappointment.

When we placed our food order we were advised there would be a 30 minute delay, which was no problem for us. A little over 20 minutes later we were informed that the steak & ale pie was not available so a fish and chips was ordered as a replacement. The meal arrived a mere 7 minutes or so after the fish was ordered. This fish was supposed to be beer-battered but certainly didn’t look or taste like that; the menu stated mushy peas but garden peas arrived. Meantime, the gammon steak that was supposed to have peas didn’t! We were directed to the bar to pay the bill and to discuss the problem when I said we were not happy with meal. When I complained the only comeback was that we had been advised about the 30 minute delay, which was not an issue at all. This was a bad experience and it was appalling that the landlady/manager did not come forward to discuss the issues with us but left it to the two young servers. I must say that both servers were excellent, they were the only highlight of the evening. We did try calling the pub mid-morning today to no avail.

My wife and I popped in for a light lunch. Lovely venue with welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere. Reasonably priced food and a well stocked bar. A great venue in this beautiful village. Highly recommended.

Visited today for lunch as a group of 15 - thoroughly enjoyed the food, and the service was great too! Due to the large group, we booked and pre-ordered in advance. Nothing was too much, and we would certainly recommend/return.

A true British pub. We went there for a drink and dinner on our first night visiting the area. The bar area is "pub-by," and the restaurant area is pretty and cozy. The staff were friendly and the food good. We went back again and had a similar experience. Love it!

Booked for dinner on Thursday evening. The food is 11/10 & the staff are really nice. A must if you are in the area.

This gastro pub is a real find. The food was excellent and the menu was varied. I’d particularly recommend the venison haunch in cranberry saw. There was also a very good vegetarian burger. The food was delivered quickly and the staff who most welcoming and friendly. Thank you all for such a lovely lunch.
