The family room was ultra basic with windows overlooking at the kitchen’s exhaust system. The hot water in the bathrooms is through a system that makes a horrible noice. Restaurant was very nice. Don’t spend more than one night…

We had a fantastic three-night stay at Masons Arms! Our room was on the smaller side, but it was cozy and comfortable, making for a really pleasant stay. The staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming, ensuring we felt right at home. The restaurant was a highlight—we had all our meals there, and everything was top-notch. The food was absolutely delicious, and we’d highly recommend dining here. The location is lovely too, set in a quiet, picturesque village in the heart of the Cotswolds, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The only small downsides were the kitchen fan, which sometimes sent cooking smells towards our windows, and a slightly sluggish faucet in the bathroom. But honestly, these were minor issues and didn’t take away from the overall experience. If you’re visiting the area, Masons Arms is definitely worth considering for both accommodation and dining!

What an amazing find! This hotel captures everything you hope for when visiting the Cotswolds. While the rooms are on the smaller side—as expected in a charming, older building—they're thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. The location is fairly central, making it a convenient base for exploring the area, and the Wi-Fi worked well throughout our stay. But the real standout here is the restaurant. The food is absolutely superb—think fine dining quality in a cozy, beautifully set space, and at a much more accessible price. While they do offer classic English pub-style options, the menu truly shines with elevated dishes you’d expect from a top-tier dining experience. Don’t miss it!

Stayed at this lovely place for one night B &B . From arriving to leaving the staff were very obliging and helpful with a friendly approach. Our room was on the smallish size but very comfortable and clean . It's a nice village and quiet. This was the perfect stop over for us and would definitely stay again . Thank you

In a quiet village not far from Cirencester, stayed for 2 nights the dinner was so good on first night we booked for the next night. Lovely open fire( love the smell of burning wood) in the bar area, the restaurant well laid out , clean and tidy. Service very good. Food excellent, I can particularly recommend the steak, one of the best i have had in ages. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast excellent certainly enough to keep you going for almost the entire day. Not much parking at the place itself, however the roads are so quiet that you can park very close without worrying.

We had a warm welcome for our visit to the area. A quiet delightful country pub. We had 2 adjoining rooms which opened up to one space with 2 en-suites: one with bath. Plenty of refreshments in the room and quality towels, bedding and throws. Plenty of plug sockets. We had rooms 1&2: not rooms with views but comfortable none the less. Our evening meals were delicious and plentiful - great value for money. Likewise breakfast had all the choices you could want with top ups - again very generous portions. Would highly recommend especially for the food.

Despite signs on the door to say “dog friendly” this applies strictly to the bar area only. Which is disappointing given its location and all the other pubs locally allowing dogs throughout. I was rudely informed of the policy by a cheerless waitress. Sadly, I wasn’t allowed to bring my small dog in as the table had been booked by friends in the upper dining area (who were unaware of the restriction); my only option would have been to leave him in the car which was unacceptable given the temperature was minus 2. I had a quick drink and left, so can’t comment on the food. Another, more understanding member of staff did come over and offered to move our party of 7 to the bar area, but this just wasn’t practical, and to be honest, I had decided not to stay and eat with family and friends by then given the original reception. Such a shame when we’ve previously had excellent service and food here.

Lovely old village pub. Smiling, friendly welcome. Room was clean, bed was incredibly comfy! One tiny niggle: the placement of the basin made using the toilet awkward. The food was so good: I started with the prawn, crayfish and bacon salad, followed by one of the best fillets of venison I've eaten. A Baileys creme brulee for dessert was absolutely delicious, so I can forgive the lack of 'crack' on the top 😉 Special kudos to Brooke and Charlotte, the front of house ladies. Smiling, friendly, quietly efficient, a real credit to the establishment. As I'm down this way for work quite often, I will definitely return!

Stayed with family Sep 2023 for a wedding, so did not get to spend anywhere near as much time in the pub/hotel as we'd have liked. The village setting is idyllic and the cosy pub and hotel are exactly what you'd expect from an old, grade II listed cotswold stone-built establishment. While we spent minimal time actually in the hotel, the team were very friendly and did everything they could for us, from getting rooms ready early for us to change in before the wedding to assisting with a taxi service. One of the kids left airpods in the room which were found and returned by post quickly and efficiently. Breakfast was superb; locally produced and hearty full english. I really hope to be back sometime soon.

We stayed here for two nights in August as we were going to a wedding locally. I feel bad writing a negative review given they're a small business, but equally I think people should have an honest idea of what to expect when staying here because it is hugely overpriced for what you get. For the record, I've not written a TripAdvisor review before so I'm not one of 'those' people who seem to do it as a hobby. If you want to stay overnight, don't be fooled by the 4.5 * rating on here - it's because of the restaurant. The 'hotel' is sadly 2* at best. Firstly the pros: - Lovely restaurant / pub downstairs. We only had breakfast, but the vibe is exactly what you'd expect from a cosy Cotswolds pub. - Breakfast was good - all freshly cooked, not a buffet situation so make sure you allow time (we had breakfast included, but if you want any other coffee than cafetiere, you need to pay for it) - We knew we'd be arriving late after the pub closed, so they arranged to leave our key in a lockbox with clear instructions Now the cons: - The rooms are painfully smaller than they look in the photos, and they already look pretty small - it was uncomfortable staying even for one night let alone two (they're dog friendly, but if you have anything bigger than a chihuahua, it is completely unsuitable. We have a small golden retriever and would have been screwed if we'd brought her) - It is so dark and dingy that I had to do my makeup by phone light (and I fake tanned... you can imagine the results) - As soon as you walk into the room, there's a really strong smell of damp - even with several diffusers placed around the room - It is absolutely boiling in the rooms - they'd put a fan in there which helped a bit, but the windows don't open properly and blinds were broken and stuck shut, so it's impossible to get fresh air into the room - They advertise on their website that there's free wifi in every room, but there's a typed-up, framed sign on the wall in the rooms saying it actually doesn't work in all rooms, and apologising if you're in one of those rooms. Fair enough it's an old country building, but it is really cheeky to advertise something if it only applies to some rooms - both my husband and I needed to do work calls in the morning and weren't able to. We'd have had to book elsewhere if we'd known. - A few hooks on the wall in the corner is a 'wardrobe', but this is directly over a little corner desk, so not usable - The toiletries they supply are pretty ridiculous - you get about a shot of shower gel for two people - The worst part for us - we were woken up at 06:30 on Friday morning (the night after the wedding) because it turns out it was village bin day, and the bins and bottle banks were right outside the room. I'm 6 months pregnant, and we woke up in a huge panic from the bottles crashing, honestly thinking something had crashed into the room. I can't get across how loud it was - my husband jokes I'd sleep through an air raid, but this was deafening and actually a really distressing start to the day - not the "welcome stay for anyone wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy lives" as they describe it. We were asked at check out how our stay had been, and I mentioned the wifi and bottle banks. The lady said "yes the wifi is terrible isn't it? It's the same for the whole village. Sorry about that." Sort of missed the point that they're advertising having something that doesn't work. With the bottle banks, she said again they know how awful the sound is and that it's actually the same in every room, but it's not their fault it's village bin day. Again missing the point, so I explained we were obviously not blaming them for it being bin day, but if they know the whole building is going to be woken up at 06:30, they should either (i) move the bins so they're not directly under the windows of the rooms, or (ii) if that's not an option, they absolutely need to put a note on the website for anyone staying on a Thursday night to expect it. For some people, it won't be an issue at all, but there will be people (like us) who are looking forward to a nice night away and getting a lie in for once, who would choose to stay elsewhere if they knew. The lady even said the previous owner knew it was so bad they tried to lobby the council to have the collection done later in the day. Between the size, the smell, the non-existent ventilation, the broken windows and blinds, the lack of working wifi, and the Friday morning noise that is so bad the previous owners tried to lobby the council, it is outrageous to charge £100 a night. If we had known the reality of what to expect, there is absolutely no way we'd have stayed. PS - I know the owners can respond to these reviews, so **please** do not reply saying there's nothing you can do about things like bin day, or the wifi - that is so not the point. You just need to be honest about what people will experience if they stay with you. If you lose business because of it, so be it. But if you don't share this info with prospective guests, you're withholding it because you know it might make them go elsewhere. I expect in good faith that you'll update your website accordingly to remove mention of free wifi in all rooms, and to include an advisory note about the reality of Friday mornings.

Visited here yesterday (9/8/23) with friends for the first time for lunch. The place is wonderful. Food was excellent and so were the staff. Will definitely go again when in the area.

We ate Sunday lunch here. Staff very friendly and attentive. Pub cute, nice decor and Cotswolds charm. We had the roast chicken and the roast pork. They easily made the roast gluten free. The gravy had a lovely flavour, pork was melt in the mouth and portions were a really good size. Best roast in a long time!

We stayed here for one night. The staff are lovely and so welcoming. The double room en-suite it was so small and certainly wasn’t for two people. The toilet/shower room was like a box very compact to say the least. No wardrobe a few hangers instead on the wall.We certainly couldn’t have stayed any longer as not much to do in the village and it was raining & a rather uncomfortable room. For what they charge it was overpriced for what you actually got.Toiletries were the smallest bottles for 1 miserly to say the least. Food the nachos were great as was the full English breakfast. The huge letdown was the Thai green curry which was tasteless and had diced chicken pieces thrown on the top of the rice I unfortunately have to say the worst I’ve ever had.I left most of it and my plate was taken away with no questions asked I couldn’t be bothered saying anything but left disappointed.

We visited The Baker's Arms twice on our visit - once for lunch and then we came back the next day for breakfast. They were on a limited menu due to new kitchen being fitted as it had just been taken over by new landlord/landlady and both lunch and breakfast were great. We had burgers for lunch outside in the lovely garden. Then the next day I had the breakfast bap and my partner had the waffles for breakfast. The new owners were so lovely and so accommodating. It was a really nice vibe in there and we look forward to visiting again hopefully later on in the year.

A great location in the centre of the delightful town of Tetbury. Quaint and quiet with delightful staff - especially Kelly who radiates a passion for the hotel and the local amenities. Spotlessly clean, lovely breakfast - including freshly cooked to order and a covered courtyard. Free 1 hour on-street parking outside with free unlimited parking within an 8 minute walk. Highgrove is less than a 5 minute drive. Would I stay again - unquestionably!

We went for dinner. Although the service was great, tables nicely spaced, nice selection of wines by the glass the experience 'in my opinion' was let down by the food. My beetroot and gin cured salmon with tonic gel was served in a chipped plate and although the portion was generous the tonic gel was bitter and quite unappealing and the salmon itself was average. For main I had duck for me the duck was slightly overcooked however the dish was sadly let down by the red wine jus. What accompanied the dish was more of a gravy then a red wine jus and sadly the gravy tasted just like bisto. Desserts were standard pub classics chocolate fondant for my partner and rhubarb bakewell tart for me both very nice. In summary atmosphere great, service great but an ambitious menu lacking in the finer touches

Stow-on-the-Wold was our Cotswold base for several days so we became quite familiar with the town’s cafes and pubs. Popping into Huffkins for a toasted bun and a pot of tea became a favourite thing to do. Their specialties are cream teas and home-made cakes and buns but they also do more substantial breakfast and lunch meals. An interesting thing about Huffkins is that it is housed inside Stow’s oldest building, built around 1450. Heavy wooden beams still feature in the ceilings but the rest of the decor is modern and whilst its clean and neutral, it lacks any historical charm. For those interested in the history, there’s a blue plaque on the wall out the front which gives a brief history of the building.
