We sat in the garden. We ordered a glass of sauvignon blanc, a Moretti, and one sandwich at the bar. Our sandwich was brough out to us in the garden. We then had the same round of drinks. We were charged £64.58. This includes a £7.18 service charge for the delivery of the sandwich. Each glass of sauvignon blanc was £16. This has to be one of the most expensive in the country.

We saw on the web site that this restaurant offered a Chateaubriand Steak so thought that we would try it. We sat in the Beagle Bar as we had our dog with us and that was fine. The service was a bit slow but the meal was very good.

We visited as part of my hubbys 70th birthday celebrations this hotel was a lovely find the building itself has character and is central for everything in Morton in the marsh. All staff were welcoming and helpful we had a twin room overlooking the garden well equipt with everything we needed. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was plentiful with a good selection to choose from. We would definitely love to visit this place again thanks to all the staff for their hard work

Lovely hotel, staff and food very good. I book the hotel because it had a lift, which I needed, or so I thought.. it had been turned off due to building work. No notice given of no lift or the building work! Also beware of the extortionate service charge on the bill. No warning of this when booking or on the menus, it just appears on the final bill. I asked for it to be removed, which went down like a lead balloon! I like to tip what I think is justified not to be told what I should. In this case nothing..

Tuesday lunchtime. Not overly busy around 3 tables occupied. Staff really friendly. Food was good nothing to shout about. Only complaint is from finishing starter to it being cleared was at least 30 mins. Not a complaint about the staff but maybe not enough staff. For the money £140 for 2 starters a main and a bottle of wine. Morton in marsh unfortunately seems to be lacking a really great reasonable priced place to eat.

3 of us here for Sunday Lunch. As we completed the starters I was saying I'm going to have to put a review on TripAdvisor to say how good this is - talk about spoke too soon!We had ordered the roast pork and 2 roast beef dinners. The first thing we noticed was the very overcooked (mushy) cauliflower cheese was cold. We then found that the beef too was only discernibly warm because the plate was heating it through! The Yorkshire puddings were also cold despite the attempt to warm them up with the gravy. We raised an objection and the plates were removed and replaced - with once again cold food! This time the manager Nick who clearly sided with the kitchen rather than the customer began to debate with us whether the Yorkshire puddings were cold stone cold or as he felt "luke warm" - which he explained was "because they were mass produced".We heard the two beef meal being thrown in the bin in the kitchen!During this interval Nick explained that as we had ordered medium rare and rare beef we couldn't expect it to be hot - strange how so many other establishments can get it hot and indeed so I.And then when the third round did arrive it was beautifully hot! Rather spoiling his argument and proving they could have got it right first time and certainly should have got it right second time.David - you need to not be aware of what is coming out of the kitchen, but should perhaps take your restaurant manager to one side and explain that "luke warm" food cannot be defended.

I had a starter and dessert. I had the ham hock with game chips and pea dressing plus crispy egg. I asked the waiter if it was panko coated. When the food arrived the plate was riddled with finger prints. The crispy egg was not coated with panko crumbs. More like leftover bread blitzed up. The ham hock terrine was bland and not seasoned. The game chips were cooked fresh and again not seasoned. Onto dessert. The egg custard was old as it was starting to curl up at the ends. The sorbet was nice. The Macerated strawberries were the worst I have every eaten.Would I recommend for food. No.

Did not stay here during this weekend as it was fullly booked and short notice. This is our favourite hotel and especially the walled gardens for outdoor eating and a drink.the service has always been very good.As there was a wedding the staff were very busy. However I was annoyed that I had to look for a member of staff to give me a menu for lunch & that the wine which we had selected was sold out! On a Saturday.the barman tried to persuade us into choosing a £29 bottle of chardonnay instead. The waitress who took our order asked if anyone had shown us the Promotional wine list...£23 a bottle.Linguini with veg was very tasty but child portion. When I queried this the waitress said she would speak to the chef.He made another portion as an apology. The cheesecake with blackberry sorbet was amazing however. An expensive lunch with a mish mash service but the gardens are enchanting.

My husband and I decided to drop in for a bit to eat early evening after having a cream tea here earlier in the year. I enquired about food and was told service started at 7pm, although we could have sandwicuhes. We were hungry so decided on a starter and 2 pulled pork baps. Neither of us were impressed, they were very bland with little taste. No one came to check on us while we ate, otherwise I would have said something. We ate them only because we were hungry. We are not people who complain usually.I also found that the wine list was priced a little strange. A 250ml glass was £9.75 while a 500ml carafe of the same wine was pricec at £20. We did look at the evening menu for future reference but it was very confusing and not easy to understand. We also overheard a waiter asking a guest paying by card "would you like to add anything to that?" Tips are a privilege not a right.

We were travelling home and stopped in Moreton-in-Marsh for something to eat and choose the Manor House Hotel as they had a sign saying the served Afternoon Tea, one of our favourite things to do. We choose to sit outside in the beautiful garden but could have had it either in the lounge, library or bar area. We had the Full Afternoon Tea with a choice of tea or coffee. The sandwiches were very tasty and the scones were delicious with proper clotted cream. It was supposed to come with a selection of chef's pastries which did not arrive. When we asked about them the waiter was very apologetic and because we couldn't eat any more he wrapped them up for us to take away with us. They have the fine dining Mulberry Restaurant and the Beagle Bar and Brasserie. We found the Mulberry Restaurant a bit characterless which extended to the modern art on the walls and the background music varied from inaudible to boring. We dined on a Saturday night when the hotel was running other functions including a Wedding. The service in the The Mulberry Restaurant was extremely slow despite the restaurant being less than half full. There were plenty of waiting staff; clearly the kitchen was unable to cope. I don’t know if you refer to it as portion control or nouveau cuisine – either way the portion sizes are insufficient – I wasn’t quite at the point of getting fish and chips afterwards but it did cross my mind. Wine by the glass was good and I made a big mistake in not choosing cheese for desert – the young lady who described the cheese selection to the next table did a great job – if only I’d seen the cheeses and heard her explanation before I received my desert. Strangely the restaurant adds on 10% service charge for the food but not the wine – what I take strong exception to is that they then prompt for another tip – either let the customer decide the tip or charge a tip but don’t ask for both. With a bill at £60 per person for a 3-course dinner with small portions and extremely slow service; rating 4 out of 10 is quite generous.

Sadly this did not live up to expectations. One of the more expensive restaurants in Morton, so I have to review accordingly. I expected 4 star service. On the plus side the steaks were good, certainly not the best rib eye for the price paid, but quite tasty. My partner had a rump steak, which was good, but a very poor watery peppercorn sauce. Probably the worst in any restaurant. It is my principle not to send food back, for obvious reasons. However we were asked about the meal by the head waiter and we explained that the sauce was not good. Nothing was done. Also asked after the meal by the waitress. Again no real comment. I just hope that they passed the comments back to the kitchen. It is a lovely hotel, and the staff are attentive. If action had been taken either time when asked the rating would have been far higher. Such a small thing, but makes such a huge impression.

We visited the Manor House as part of a large party and were assigned a double room on the top floor. The rooms are nicely decorated and finished to a good standard. There were a few things which needed some maintenance such as a handle missing from the chest of drawers, an unseated bathroom tap and no nozzle for the hair dryer, but all of these issues were fixed on day 1. Our room featured a sitting chair and table which compromised the space, so we asked to have them removed, which was swiftly dealt with and greatly improved the usability of the space. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities all good. Service was friendly and the reception staff greeted us every morning and every evening as we went about our day. The day porter Jan was excellent and always seemed to be there whenever you needed him, wherever you were. The hotel has not scrimped on a wide range of public spaces in which to enjoy your time. We all loved the sanctitude of the library, but also the ability to sit in the sun on the lovely lawn. The gazebo is also excellent for enjoying the late afternoon in the garden. Breakfast was very good with both buffet and cooked options to suit all tastes. Evening meals were of a high standard too, but perhaps a little pricey for some given the portions. I think the two AA Rosettes are a good accolade but I've eaten better, for less money at establishments with one or none. Moreton is a great central location from which to explore the Cotswolds, and the Manor Hotel is a great choice if staying in the town. Do make sure you visit Broadway, Chipping Campden and of course Bourton on the Water.

My Father stayed here last week to meet some friends, and my friend Kate and I met him for a late dinner on Sunday evening. I literally cannot praise the Hotel enough, on all counts. The Hotel were kind enough to advise us that a wedding was taking place, but we barely noticed. Our evening started in the garden in the beautiful sunshine for drinks, then we moved into the restaurant. The staff had very kindly put our table by the rear patio doors, so that we could enjoy the beautiful view of the garden and the weather. We ate from the a la carte menu (purely because we arrived too late to fully enjoy all the wines with the tasting menu!!) and took an age to order purely because none of us could decide which of the delicious meals we wanted. Standout meals from our starters (although they were all superb) was the pigeon breast....absolutely divine. The remainder of the meals were absolutely faultless, as was the service. The staff were absolutely fantastic..waiting patiently and unobtrusively if we were still eating/talking, cleaning the table before we noticed it was dirty, and constantly replenishing and replacing. I very much hope to be returning to The Manor many times, I was really very nicely surprised and found the evening totally faultless. Thanks so much to the amazing staff (our waiter James!) who indulged us and made our evening super special.

The Manor House is one of the fancier hotel/restaurants in Moreton and has prices to match. The food in the brasserie restaurant however is very good and with a prix fixe menu at £14 for two courses you can enjoy their quality cooking for considerably less than if you'd ordered a la carte. However, for a restaurant with obvious airs to greatness, there a couple of areas which the brasserie at the Manor House needs to improve on. The staff, while friendly, really need more training for a place that charges these prices. Our waitress didn't know which wines were served by the glass or what flavours of ice cream were served (in microscopically small scoops) for dessert and had to get another staff member to help her. In addition, a few staff members were wearing obviously dirty aprons and looked generally rather shabby.Secondly, the kitchen has fallen into the trap of thinking dishes need to be served on ridiculously shaped plates for the food to impress. For example, steak is served on an oversized rustic bread board - so far, so trendy. However, the board takes up so much room there's barely any space left on the table for anyone else's food, and the fat from the steak drips through cracks in the board, leaving a greasy layer on the table. Chips are served in pointless mini frying baskets more commonly found these days in much less classy establishments. One of our party ordered a chicken dish which for some unfathomable reason was served in a long thin oval shaped dish meaning there was no where to rest his knife and fork between bites. The Manor House is trying hard to please, and certainly offers a charming Cotswold setting, but just lacks that bit of polish to make it a great hotel restaurant.

We ate in the restaurant (not the brasserie) on Saturday night. We arrived at 7:15 for a table at 7:30. We were seated at 7:45 (having had pre-dinner drinks and ordering our meals at about 7:30). The first course arrived at 8:30 - having had to enquire where it was. My 3 small scallops looked lost on the slate upon which they were presented and the accompanying black-pudding crumb and coral dust was irrelevant. My main course was a pork cooked three ways. The very salty jus overwhelmed the dish and meant it had no variety of flavour. The desert was the highlight (thank goodness!). Interestingly, the neighbouring table had to send all their main meals back as the meat was overcooked. Service was inattentive and formulaic. It may be that the function (wedding?) elsewhere in the hotel was stretching the kitchen too far. When leaving, we saw what was being served in the brasserie and wished we had chosen to eat there instead.

Vegetarian option was a delicious tart served on a very hot plate along with the salad which was wilted and uninteresting. When this was mentioned to the waitress, she was also uninterested. How difficult is it to serve a salad on a side dish? We live locally, and have often tried the Manor House, but have regrettably always been da little disappointed. We have stayed and eaten at The Hare & Hounds (a sister hotel) at Westonbirt on numerous occasions where the restaurant is first class - shame about Moreton. We ate a weekday lunch in the Brasserie which is an attractive conservatory-style room. The service is generally good and the staff obliging, although they did get very busy and it was difficult to attract attention when we needed to. We chose from the A La Carte rather than the well-priced prix fixe menu (which also looked tempting). Good starters, although the potted shrimps were in narrow pots which made it difficult to remove the (delicious) contents. Our mistake was to order steaks. These were overcooked and chewy, really disappointing - plus I realised afterwards I'd been brought the wrong butter option, not a biggie but not what I'd ordered. We were offered recompense for the steaks by way of dessert (politely declined so can't rate), however for this standard of restaurant (and the accompanying prices) this was a disappointing meal.

I looked into a few restaurants around Moreton-in-Marsh during the afternoon and booked the Manor House for dinner on our 2nd night because the atmosphere in the conservatory looked appealing. I believe the menu served in there is the "Beagle Bar and Brasserie" menu, rather than the "Mulberry restaurant" menu. For the relatively high bill, the food, served by a slightly eccentric crew of eastern european waiters, was disappointing and the portions were rather small. My risotto was plain and unimaginative. Particularly poor was the ricotta cheescake, which resembled a lump of thick, tasteless cream. Overall I got the impression of a kitchen staff going through the motions rather than putting any passion into their creations. We had a much better experience at the Italian restaurant, "Ask" on the previous night, and I really wish we had just eaten in our hotel, the Redesdale Arms, rather than the Manor House on our 2nd night.

Decided to try the brasserie side of the Manor House Hotel on a Saturday night, booked at last minute but they were able to accommodate us, had nibbles to start oil & balsamic, far too much oil but great balsamic & nice warm bread, the Duck breast Bon bons were great too, the mains looked great, Sirloin steak medium & cooked to perfection, however the meat was very chewy & took some getting through, my friends lamb was ok but the garlic mash was bland & he said it was not hot, hot !! service was great, nice waiter from Hungary, overall the total cost of £63.00 was a little over the odds for an Ok meal.

An evening for two trying the standard and vegetarian tasting menus with accompanying wine. All the food and wine was very good and the staff provided an excellent service and proved to be knowledgeable about their food. One of us is not particularly keen and red wine and the sommelier was more than happy to recommend and provide white alternatives. Thoroughly recommended.

Recently had Sunday lunch here. Surroundindings are beautiful and service is excellent. We sat in a very nice conervatory area whic was very comfortable. Starters were excellent as was the meat , roast potatoes and gravy on the main course. Unfortunately the main was let down by a very plain and unimaginative selection of vegetables which included overcooked translucent courgettes.Just a little more imagination and skill would turn an average lunch into a very good one.I would definitely use the Manor House again but would hope for improvement in the selection and preparation of the vegetables next time

We stayed at the Manor House Hotel for a friends wedding and we were lucky enough to get a superior double room which was very roomy and overlooked the gardens. Molton Brown products in the bathroom and a nice coffee maker were certainly nice touches and I would recommend Room 16 to everyone. The food for the wedding was lovely as was the great breakfast. The restaurant opened out to a walled garden and the bar area is full of comfortable seating along with normal bar prices which was a nice surprise. The lounge areas were nice and comfortable and the log fire was a nice touch. All in all a lovely hotel that I wouldn't hesitate to stay in again.

With no reservation, we were consummately obliged and seated for lunch in the brasserie, a tasteful conservatory in an enclosed English Garden to the rear of a Cotswold hotel.Sunday lunch for five - 2 adults, 3 kids - which was memorably delicious, beautifully presented and consumed entirely.Three courses each at £21 per head. Each course clearly prepared by the house kitchen staff. No catering suppliers here. We'll be back for the service, ambience and food.

Second visit for lunch and four of us thoroughly enjoyed it. For example, starter of pigeon breast on mushroom risotto was faultless: the pigeon perfectly pink and flavourful and the risotto just right. Mains and puddings lived up to this delicious start.Surprisingly moderate prices.Staff all charming.

We chose this restaurant as the hotel looked beautiful and the menu outside was to our taste. We were greeted as soon as we entered the bar area which is very attractive and warmThe staff were friendly and courteous and very attentive throughout our meal in the conservatory and our drink in the bar afterwardsThe food was delicious and beautifully presented and hot. We had been offered the choice of three eating alternatives. We chose the brasserie menu and as this was before 7:30 we had two courses including a glass of wine for under £20, excellent value. Can't fault any part of our meal at The Manor House hotel and would certainly go back

Have just returned from a short break in Moreton - in - Marsh. Having looked at the various menus displayed in the High St. we decided to have an evening meal in the Brasserie at the Manor House Hotel. We were really happy with our decision as both the food and the service were great. We had a table in the conservatory that overlooked the garden. We enjoyed our meal so much we returned there the following evening when we had the 3 course set menu which included a glass of house wine, all for £21 a head. We thought this was good value especially when compared to other restaurants in the town. We would definitely return to this restaurant the next time we visit Moreton - in - Marsh.

Absolutely faultless food and impeccable service. The Hungarian waiter who explained each of our courses provided the best table service we gave received for years- even compared to the top London restaurants. I would highly recommend this restaurant as it us faultless.

This was a very special treat as pricey for one night but we both felt it was worth every penny and will be saving hard to do it again,.Last year we stayed in the hotel the rooms are small so we booked the cottage at the rear of the garden adjacent to the rear car park. Stunning cottage with a small dining room, beautiful lounge with plasma, sky, dvd player with a choice of dvds and books also a coffee machine, There is a door opening onto a patio, garden and glorious hot tub. We stayed in January and although very cold it did warm up enough to enjoy day and evening. The gardens are private.Upstairs there is a beautiful spacious master with all you need and also a stunning bathroom with roll top bath, huge walk in shower and another plasma tv. The cottage is furnished to a high standard with all the facilities you require and more.Great for a wonderful treat an anniversary, birthday, wedding night or a romantic get away.We also had the 8 taster dinner and wine flight which we had last year, Service and food outstanding a real experience, did feel they were not as generous on the filling of glasses as last year although you do get a different small glass of wine with every course, perhaps Im just greedy| Go on treat yourselves!!!!! julia cardiff 6\1\2013

I have had the pleasure of lunching at The Mulberry Restaurant and the Brasserie at The Manor House 4 times now Summer and Winter. The latest visit was for Sunday lunch 23rd December. There were eight of us all varying ages dining and none of us were at all disappointed. The staff were excellent, from the delightful general manager to the dining staff. The food was truly first rate and considering it is only £19.95 for a 3 course lunch and alot cheaper for weekday dining) I think it is amazing value for money. I have found no fault at all ,on each occassion I have dined at lunchtime and have taken friends and family who have all enjoyed their meals. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Lovely people, lovely food. One of the nicest pubs/hotels in the area. Visit regularly for drinks. Only downside is that it is quite expensive and every time i go in, it is rather quiet. But i would reccomend

We have now eaten here a number of times, and friends/family we have taken here have also returned for further visits. The fixed price menu (which includes a glass of wine) is a must - great value and excellent quality. The sandwich choices are a little bit different and the chips are divine. The bar area is very comfortable, the outside tables are really nice if the weather is good, and the restaurant is a beautiful conservatory type environment. Overall: classy and not stupidly over-priced. Would recommend this place highly.

Not sure if they had a chef in the night we visited, but if they did, he had very little experience of cooking steaks!

Stayed here one night, and the room was very small for what is a high priced hotel. The bar area, and the cocktial waiters are really excellent though, but it can get a bit expensive if you get carried away, which we have done a couple of times.

The Brasserie restaurant at the Manor House Hotel is rather nice especially on nice sunny day. It is a conservatory overlooking a nice garden. We had the set lunch which at 13.50 for 2 courses was pretty good. It was nicely served and reasonably well cooked. Service quite efficient and good. Although the hotel is part of a small chain of Cotswold hotels, it does not feel like that.J Fisher
