Unfortunately we were 4 very disappointed Customers. Poor Reception with comment from Waiter who showed us to our reserved table saying everything was “all over the place”. We waited for 2 overpriced Cotswold Salads, one requesting the “hot chilli flakes” to be put “on the side” to find they were mixed into the salad…when the Waitress was asked about the carbs of the Huffkins Bun due to a Medical situation the response was that she didn’t know…when we offered to clear our plates off the table as we had finished lunch the next Waitress seemed put out that she had to take the plates away and when paying our bill Cash was refused…

We were visiting Stow and as we had an early start, we were feeling a bit hungry and thirsty, so popped into Huffkins. The staff were really friendly and showed us to a table and explained that good was ordered at the counter. We went for an English breakfast roll and sausages in a roll with drinks and cakes. Food was really high quality and tasted great. If we visit Stow again, will definitely come back here for food.

It's not cheap but the products, baking, is superlative. However it's not a place where I would expect to have to queue up to order at the counter and remember your table number. Not right at all. And muzak to suit the young, certainly not for the age range in the place when we visited.

Our bus tour stops for lunch in Stow-on-the-Wold. The driver warns us about “Stow Time” and that we want to let people know we have a bus to catch or we might wait a long time. My sweetie stops in Huffton’s Stow to buy a pasty and then explore the town. I’m too tired, I just want to sit and enjoy food. So I find an empty outdoor table. Turns out you can scan a QR code and order straight from the table. I order the Afternoon Tea because it will have a collection of sweets and sandwiches. I specify that I want the House blend tea rather than my usual latte because I want a real English high tea. Within ten minutes (no worries about Stow time) a three level tray arrives with the teac cream and sugar, 2 scones, clotted cream, strawberry jam, plus four kinds of cakes and the equivalent of four different sandwiches, cut into little triangles. The young man who brings it to me smiles when I say it’s three times as much food as I expected. “Shall I go ahead and just bring you a box now then?” It’s all such a treat that my beloved changes her mind and joins me for a sit down meal. Even so, I wind up getting three meals out of all the goodies!

We came to Huffkins for a cup of tea and a nice cake. The selection of cakes were awful and not what we would have expected from this Bakery. The tea came to the table without the cakes, so we waited 10 minutes and then had to go back to the counter to ask where the cakes were. We both left part of our cakes as they were sickly and horrible. Won't come back until the standard of this Bakery/Cafe improves. We were not the only ones complaining on this day. Shame this used to be a lovely place.

Terrible service the moment we arrived.. Slow service, literally threw down cutlery all over the table knives and forks spread all over the table…. Order breakfast for 4 and only three meals arrived, waitress absolutely clueless and asked if we had missed anything…. Even though she already knew when I asked where my breakfast was… and immediately said it was sent to wrong table… Asked how long it was going to take she had no idea, had to ask for manager for refund…. No apology to the situation As for the food that did arrived it was mediocre at best - tomato ketchup was horrific, tastes like watered down sweet chili sauce… Staff are highly undertrained…. Made a mistake to try this place over our usual in stow in the wold…. EDIT: I can confirm full refund has been received.

Driving through Stow on a short break, decided to stop here for afternoon tea as it looked lovely from outside. Shown to a table by one of the many waiting staff but then told we had to order at the counter or use the QR code at the table. Couldn't get the QR code to load the site so went to the counter, where I waited. And waited. And waited. One person taking orders from the queue, all the other staff seemed to be just standing about, a waitress could have taken our order in less than a minute. Eventually left and went elsewhere.

After going to this cafe for almost 30 years I was disappointed to go back after a good few years to find everything was awful!! The portion sizes are pathetic (I ordered the Brie, bacon and chilli jam open melt) I actually asked for more Brie (as there was hardly any on it) and was told that that was the portion size unless I wanted to pay extra (it was £13!!!). Had to ask twice for the dressing for my friends pasty which she had nearly finished by the time it eventually arrived. So sad that such a wonderful place is no longer wonderful. Came here with my parents for breakfast. (Group of 3) The place was empty and we asked to sit by the window for breakfast so would move a table to make a table for 4. We asked but was told this wouldn’t be possible as they would have to make room if others wanted to come in (in fairness the place did start to fill towards the end of our meal. We didn’t mind this. When it came to the food, for what it is, my God it’s overpriced. We got a couple of the breakfast baps. My poached egg had burst before arriving to the table, and the quality of the ingredients was sub par. The hash brown had clearly been microwaved, not crispy, instead soft. As well as this, the sausage was of poor quality. Bacon was fine, relatively crispy and bun fine - no issues there Overall the food was edible, nothing particularly wrong other than what’s been mentioned but just simply not worth the money.

Much better places available: please avoid the obvious, overpriced and poor customer service of this place. It’s quaint I guess but much better local alternatives. Try “In the Mood” or The New England Coffee House “ or anywhere else. Huffkins: over priced £11.95 for a single breakfast tea and a milkshake. They can’t make scrambled or fried eggs = no proper kitchen or cooks! Worst part for me, there were loads of staff yet people are queueing out of the door! Why? As you enter the cafe up three steps, you are immediately halted by a sign that says “please wait to be seated” - fine. So you stand there and wait and are ignored for minutes (despite all the staff doing very little) they then greet you and ask you if you’d like a table for two (etc) to then be told “take any table” and “then come back and order at the counter” - what is the ###% point of that other than to create queues and make the customer do ALL the work? Add to that the queue also contains people who want take-away, makes the queue longer - especially for those waiting for a table (who are basically then told to find one themselves and then leave it again to order at the counter) total and utter idiocy!! Finally, I then observed the potential customers queuing in the very small area between the outside of the shop, steps, sign and counter - to kindly move out of the way as they block the staff leaving the kitchen to the tables via the counter! Unbelievable and time for a secret shopper visit methinks!! Avoid and go somewhere else Written by a local btw

We both had a beef pasty which were most enjoyable. As we had waited for quite some time without further acknowledgement, I had turned to leave when a team member asked if they could help. It wasn't particularly busy so as our drinks and cakes hadn't arrived after 15 minutes, we asked a team member if they could check if they were on their way. 5 minutes later, they arrived and to be fair, the same team member we checked with earlier did apologise for the delay. The 2 cakes were OK. I then realised that on a nearby table a medium sized dog was sitting on one of the chairs. I actually love dogs but not sure they should be allowed to sit on chairs in a coffee shop. Overall a disappointing visit which was a shame as looked appealing when we walked by.

Overall we had an ok time here. The staff were very friendly and nice and the service was good. However, we felt it was extremely overpriced for what it is. Paying the best part of £10 for a tuna melt with some salad from a bag and some crisps is crazy. One member of our party paid £12.95 for the chicken and barley salad which said on the menu that it came with cucumber, kohlrabi, red onion, tomato and courgette. When it arrived it was one piece of chicken cut up on some lettuce from a bag - there was no courgette, tomato, red onion or kohlrabi and about 4 grains of barley. We would have sent it back if we weren’t so hungry. To charge £12.95 for that is just outrageous. We also were initially seated at a table where the table next to us had their dog on the chair. I don’t have a problem with dogs being on the floor in coffee shops but to have it on the seat next to us was a bit off putting

We booked afternoon tea for 8 at the Stow cafe as part of a hen weekend. It was very busy and the lady greeting us was visibly stressed and quite short with customers who were getting confused about whether or not to seat themselves, as it was taking such a long time for them to be greeted. It wasn’t very welcoming. The afternoon tea itself was really nice and good value. A couple of our party asked for modifications and they were all sorted with ease. Our server was also very friendly which was nice. Unfortunately it went downhill a bit again when we waited 25 minutes for the bill and to pay… I got the impression that the cafe has become far too big, staff clearly couldn’t keep up with the demand and it made the experience not as nice as it could have been. I think if they took less customers it would be far more special.

I had the "chicken Caesar salad sandwich", but unfortunately it had nothing to do with a Caesar salad. This was made up of a deep fried chicken escalope of mediocre quality (most likely frozen) in a bun with a side of mixed leaves topped with a french dressing (not even the dressing was Caesar). As an additional side, you get a bagful of salted crisps. It was a decent meal, but nothing to do with a chicken Caesar and grossly overpriced. The service was good and some of the other dishes, like the poached eggs with avocado looked great, so there is hope.

This café has been here since the end of the 18th century apparently, and has the beams to prove it. It's certainly not cheap, but the cakes and coffee are very good. I and most other people there were having lardy cake – a delicacy I remember from my Midlands childhood. Visiting the loo requires a considerable effort of mountaineering, as it's up a steep staircase that bends in the middle. Perhaps I should have asked whether there's a disabled loo. Staff are very polite and pleasant.

£11.95 for a breakfast bap you would expect top notch ingredients but no cheap sausage and cheap bacon. I wanted it to be good but no....

Impressed with this place. Would absolutely return here if lived locally. Very nice atmosphere and decoration and friendly competant staff and Managers. Food was good and well presented. Menu had decent choices. Seemed to offer value for money. A find! Easy to find. There are rooms and will consider these for next trip -I know nothing more.

This gastro pub is a real find. The food was excellent and the menu was varied. I’d particularly recommend the venison haunch in cranberry saw. There was also a very good vegetarian burger. The food was delivered quickly and the staff who most welcoming and friendly. Thank you all for such a lovely lunch.
