Absolutely superb, well kept site, with spacious pitches. Super friendly, well priced pub, serving excellent beers and delightful, generously portioned food.

Very expensive baked potatoe think had been precooked and microwaved as texture horrible sent back as arrived with big ‘blob’ of melted cheese. Asked for grated whichbthey bought Uninspired salad . Very disappointed Waiter very nice

Great atmosphere on a busy Friday evening, and dining tables at a premium, so best to book in advance. Food was plentiful - and a good variety of pub snacks and main dinners. Service friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend, and will revisit if in the area.

Stayed over in the pub's adjoining campsite for a Monday night en route to Portsmouth. 11 hard-standing gravel pitches with EHU, waste and water and grass area with picnic tables. Nice little set-up that's screened off from the busy Tetbury to Cirencester road so expect some traffic noise. A nice walk through to the source of the Thames from the fields behind. Only let-down on the campsite side was a single combined shower/toilet room for 11 pitches, which was dated and dirty when we visited. It's wise to book if you want dinner in the pub; on a Monday night people were turning up on spec and being turned away as it was so busy. Food is a good mix of comforting pub classics (eg bacon bubble & squeak with an egg topper, steak & ale pie, gammon etc) and daily specials. We shared an enormous ciabatta with cheese starter, then 10oz gammon & chips for one and the other had sticky pork ribs with veg rice and homemade salsa. The portions were so huge we unfortunately couldn't manage a pudding, which is a real shame as they looked amazing. Staff very friendly and attentive. Arkals beers. Dog friendly pub and site. Would use again, despite the shower/WC facilities.

Lovely friendly pub,lovely food,lovely staff,dog friendly.. We stayed in the pubs pitch up wich was lovely and clean,the only thing I was disappointed was there's 19 pitchs and only 1 toilet and 1 shower wich was inside the toilets. Bigers concerns is my husband works for scotch power in Wales and he noticed the trees are touching the power lines wich Is a big risk..

After a short break away to visit Glastonbury we decided to take a slightly off track (missing the motorway) journey home, at least for a portion of the way, we thought, when we feel hungry, we will find somewhere to stop, glad we did, we dropped in here for some food & drink, all day food!!, fantastic, highly recommended & very polite & welcoming staff, I believe there is a campsite too, so if we get that way on with our camper in the future we'll head here

Been visiting here for years, but yesterday we felt let down. The service was extremely poor. Lots of serving staff standing around doing nothing, rather than checking on tables. Had to go to the bar for drinks and to ask to place our meal order. Also I didn't get the meal that I ordered. Was offered an exchange but this meant I would be eating after everyone else had finished. Vegetable selection was poor, OK if everyone wants mountains of swede.

Excellent Sunday lunch; we will need to fast for a day or so! Staff attentive, friendly and rushed off their feet as a usual busy Sunday. Masses of beef; when the plate arrived thought it would be the ‘normal’ two rashers’ of thin to medium cuts; but no; well hidden under the roast potatoes and huge yorkshire was plenty more. Plate piled high with sufficient additional vegetables. Very highly recommended.

Per quanto riguarda il pernottamento la stanza è davvero carina e accogliente, bagno abbastanza grande e tutto molto pulito. Booked for a 2 night stay with my husband, it was very last minute booked Wednesday night to travel Thursday. Check in was nice and easy, no reception area just had to go to the bar. Girl took us to our room which was around the side of the pub and it was at this point that the smell of waste hit us. There is a tank by the rooms which may be something to do with the camping site that is linked to the pub. Thankfully we couldn't smell it in the room but it did smell every time we left the room. The room was lovely and just like the photos online however it was absolutely riddled with flies, there must have been at least 10, my husband had to spend 10 minutes trying to get them out of the room. I understand that with the countryside this can happen but the cleaner had literally just been in as the bathroom floor was still damp so it would have been nice if they had gotten rid of them. The bed is nice and big my husband loved the mattress but it was a bit too firm for me, lots of nice soft pillows though. On our first morning very early, probably around 6am a very loud alarm went off in the room waking us, it took us a while to realise it was the smoke alarm on the ceiling (well we think it was a smoke alarm) my husband pressed a button and it stopped, however we never got back to sleep. My main issue with the pub and the reason for the 3 stars is because of the food situation. I have to eat gluten free and I also have a lot of other food intolerances so I always let the hotel know before arrival. I did this on the booking form I told them about my allergies and asked them if they could work around it for breakfast which we had paid extra for, I also mentioned it on arrival to a member of staff and she said she would remind chef. We went down for our first breakfast and I was so disappointed as they did not have any GF bread which to me should be standard (even if kept in a freezer) and there was no GF sausage which is very easily accessible. I cannot eat bacon or mushrooms so it just meant all I could have was egg, tomato and beans which was obviously not very filling. The chef did offer me some berries which I accepted but didn't really fill the gap. Normally at other pubs/hotels I can let them know I am coming and there will always be some GF cereal, bread, sometimes pastries and definitely sausage. I would like to say the food I had was absolutely beautiful and my husband also really enjoyed his. When we went out that day I purchased some GF bread and took some with me the following morning so that I could have some toast. It was our anniversary on the Friday evening and we had decided to eat in the pub, I made sure I asked about GF options early on as didn't want to get there on the evening to find out there wasn't any because the pub is in the middle of nowhwere so we would have had to get a taxi out somewhere. I was told there were a lot of GF options so was very excited. When we sat down and I asked the employee what GF options there was said yes there is lots you can have, steak, jackets and then he stopped talking and said we could maybe do the bubble and squeak GF for you but would need to ask chef. I really did not mind having steak but I had been excited about lot's of choices but I didn't really get one. Again my food was beautiful and my husband had a pie of the special board and said that was also lovely. Having to eat Gluten free is not a choice and it is already difficult for us to eat out easily so it is really nice when we go somewhere and have some choices, makes us feel normal. Think the pub should definitely look at some more options and maybe put a GF next to the items we can have so that we know instead of having to ask. There was a gentleman on the table next to us who was also asking about GF options, he wanted the fish and chips but they couldn't do it so he had it without the batter but that was 2 people in a small vicinity needing Gluten free so it is very common and would be beneficial to the pub to cater a bit better for them. As mentioned the food we did have was lovely so we had no issues with that just need to cater better for gluten free people in my opinion. It would not have mattered so much if the pub was in a village but to walk to another place to eat is difficult. The pub itself was lovely and friendly, I cannot express how lovely the staff were from bar staff to the chefs, didn't encounter one rude member of staff. I also emailed when home and said how disappointed I was with my breakfasts and asked for a refund and they didn't hesitate to give it me. On the booking form I also mentioned it was our anniversary and although I was not expecting anything massive I thought it might have been recognised in some small way but there was nothing. I like to be honest with reviews and my husband would have easily given this a 4 star but as I struggled to eat here which is a big part of going away for me I could only give it a 3 but if that was improved this would easily be a 4 star. The staff are definitely 5 star!!!

We had a fantastic family lunch at the Thameshead today. Atmosphere and staff very welcoming and food was delicious. All food seemed homemade and ample portion size. Will definitely be returning.

Great little pub, obviously has a great deal of history. We stayed in one of the self contained rooms at the back with an external door at ground level. Very clean and neat. Well stocked hospitality tray. Good spot to commence The Thames Path. Easy access from the train station which if you have luggage does require a taxi. Cost was quite a lot as the taxi had to come from Circenchester. Wonderful meal for dinner, many choices. Lovely breakfast.

This is a lovely little pub with a very mature and welcoming atmosphere. My family and I have come here a few times in the evening and really enjoyed the food however this time is different. I ordered the ‘creamy cheese, garlic and herb mushroom’ starter but as soon as I tasted the creamy sauce I thought it tasted sour and off, I asked my mum to taste some of the sauce so she tried it and said the exact same thing. Unfortunately since we’ve been home we’ve both had a bad stomach and are feeling very unwell. I can say for certain that it can’t have been anything else as this was the first and only thing we’ve both eaten today. On the other hand the staff were very attentive and polite but it’s a massive shame that the Thames Head Inn has not delivered and lived up to expectations this time.

6 of us went for an early Saturday night meal. We all had a main course, various drinks and some desserts. It was good value and the service was great. Very attentive staff. The food was well-cooked and arrived promptly. Six happy customers.

Lovely pub and waiting staff were great however the Sunday vegetarian roast left a lot to be desired. The vegetarian option was a Yorkshire and limited veg with no option of even the usual nut roast. The veg was overcooked and tasteless and sadly when this is all there is, it’s important to get that right! On a positive, the deserts were delicious ( and big enough to be able to share!)

We pitched up without booking (breakdown in our party’s communication!) with a party of ten of us - four adults and six kids from age 8 to 17 - on bank Hol Monday lunchtime. Portion sizes were generous. Sandwiches made with thick slices. Bubble and squeak was lovely apparently. Staff generally jovial, friendly and accommodating. Things that could have been better (but not worth complaining about): baked potato arrived very over-baked (skin inedible apparently); club sandwich without the bacon (although the sandwich was huge nevertheless); no kids menu (but there was a willingness to do small portions of some dishes), and a v long wait (something to do with not having booked ahead?) which we were warned about (we were encouraged to order from the bar snacks menu) It was pretty good value for money, but not a pub geared up for catering for large parties or under-12s in my opinion. Overall - good/average (a shade off being very good) and good value for money. (V late review sorry - was in “draft” only just noticed!)
