For insiders who want to have a good time. Wonderful pub! Around the corner, 10 meters from the main street on the way to St. James's Church. Delicious food and good beer. We sat in the left-hand area, living room-like, very cozy. We had the vegan and the proper burger. A little more coleslow, please. Otherwise, perfect. Such friendly staff in the service. Very attentive. Legendary! Please make a reservation.

Beautiful cozy pub, friendly staff, delicious food for a good price. I can't rate the rooms because I didn't stay there. Not really small as I read here, there is also a terrace but it was not gigantic. The location is beautiful in one of the most beautiful English villages I have visited so far.

What a wonderful place to stay while we explored the Cotswolds. The Inn is cozy, has delicious dinners, and a variety of places to relax with a pint or a glass of wine. We spent every afternoon in the terraced gardens, relaxing after a day of walking and exploring. Our room, #2, was comfortable and a large window provided loads of fresh air. Each person that worked here was friendly, professional, and fully present when we chatted them up. Parking is available on the main street. If you can't stay here, definitely come for dinner, if not a pint.

Wish we had booked a third night so we could have sampled the night time menu. The food looked and smelled great. Many thanks for a wonderful stay. Hope to make a return trip in the near future.

Amazing cozy pub in the heart of the Cotswolds in the beautiful Chipping Campden. The pub is small and lovely with the typical low ceiling and cozy interiors. The food is absolutely delicious, we stayed and had an amazing full English breakfast and a dinner for more than 13 people that was perfectly orchestrated and served by the staff. Beers and drinks are also great. The rooms are small but provided with any comfort and a nice shower. Plenty of free parking around the pub. Recommended!

Really enjoyed a two-night stay at this cozy 14th century inn. Our room was large and had a very comfortable bed. Nice modern bathroom but wish shampoo, conditioner, body lotion was supplied instead of the dreaded bottle of body/hair wash. Really good breakfast, pleasant staff and an excellent location near the church with the eight bells that this pub is named after. Dinner was okay but nothing special. There are lots of cute restaurants in gorgeous Chipping Campden so worth venturing out.

We had a brilliant stay at The Eight Bells in the lead upto Christmas. Great accommodation, friendly, welcoming service, lovely room and great foot (dinner and breakfast). Excellent location too. Our stay was boosted by a Christmas charity evening being held in the pub by the local Rugby Club. Lots of unexpected fun, culminating in communal carol singing complete with song sheets. We didn't stay here but visited for lunch today, a cold winter's day in January, and it was excellent. Lovely log fire, beautiful characterful pub, great service, friendly and efficient and superb food. We both had burgers, one beef, one Thai chickpea and sweetcorn and both came with chips and really tasty coleslaw. Although we were both pretty full, we were tempted by the dessert menu. Sticky toffee pudding for one and the special of a whole pear in mulled wine sauce with sponge fingers and cream for the other. Again, both desserts were excellent, really full of flavour. All of this was washed down with delicious Old Hookey. We'll definitely be back!

Fiona and I stayed at the Eighty Bells for 2 nights 11/12- October 2024. This stay was unusual in that we normally Google reviews as to see the experiences of others. This visit came about from a conversation while on holiday with one of the owners, Neil. I met Neil Corfu while staying at the RC Hotel. Which is a "special interest" hotel. We share a passion for building/flying RC model aeroplanes. One of a number of conversations centred around how Real Ales should be stored. Too many beers are served cold like Lager!! During this conversation Neil mentioned that he had co-owned a 17C pub/restaurant since 1999. This was in June, when we returned to Blighty, had a chat with Fiona, and booked for my 70th in October. It did not disappoint. As a frequent winner of CAMRA titles the choice of beer and quality was great. The atmosphere of the pub was as a pub should be, busy and buzzing. The bar serves food, which looked good. The room we had was well equipped, clean, the shower came with instructions, nice touch, so often the right temperature is achieved as if by magic!! We had dinner in the pub dining room. The food was fab, service outstanding. All the staff were brilliant throughout our stay. To single out one seems a little unfair but the lass who served breakfast on the Sunday was really brilliant, cheerful, nothing was too much. I suspect that the staff turnover is very low? All the staff could do anything asked of them - register guests, check out guests etc. Makes a stay easy. We cannot recommend it high enough. We will go back next year.

We were making an unplanned trip through Chipping Camden yesterday and stopped in at 12 midday having been recommended by locals. The waitress told us they were fully booked but said come back at 3pm and we’ll have a table. I said we would have a look around and return at 3pm. So my 80yo mother and I waited around for three hrs then went back starving and definitely ready for some lunch. On entering we were told that the waitress didn’t put your name down so there’s no table, I said we’d been waiting since 12 and were told a table would be available at 3, she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off, awful service some of the worst I’ve ever had! In the end we went to the Lygon Arms where the staff were very welcoming and the Sunday lunch was outstanding would highly recommend over Eight Bells.

We went on the Paxton circular walk today. Which, it turns out, is not suitable for large dogs who aren't good at climbing. We arrived at the Eight Bells, covered in mud, 3 hours in, and half way, round a 3 hour circuit (going well as you can see). We had noticed the Eight Bells the day before but it was fully booked, and conveniently (and accidently) arrived bang on opening at 12pm. They squeezed us in, great service, polite and kind despite our disgusting appearance and they are dog friendly in the bar area, where they also serve food, even offering our handsome Ralph a water bowl and pat. We are annoying gluten free people and the food was beautiful! They had a really easily to follow allergen menu, and method, that was also on their specials! Amazing concept, really well executed. They also have a lovely wine list and a wall of craft beer serve awards (we avoided the alcohol this time, given the previous 3 hours). Quick friendly service, great food and allergen friendly! The pub itself is beautiful, traditionally decorated, wooden bar, tiled floors, lit fire place, 6 traditional beer pumps, clean olden days toilets with a pull cord and beautiful sink. Really well done and everything a local country pub could be! Empty when we arrived (as it had just opened), it was fully seated within the hour We were lucky to get in. Thank you amazing team, we will be back soon!

There isn't much to dislike about this Cotswold pub. We had lunch and the service was good. They serve pies and I had a Prawn Curry. This was tasty but lacked a bit of oomph which you would expect for £20. Strangely there was no mango chutney so you have been warned. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit on both evenings. We had booked a table for the first night which was a Sunday, so we were presented with the Sunday menu. Good choice and reasonably priced. My husband opted for the roast pork dinner which he said was the best pork he had ever had and I opted for the pie. He chose the apple pie and I had the lemon posset - again both were delicious. All washed down with a bottle of the house red. We ate in the restaurant which was lovely and cosy and the staff were very attentive, friendly and informative - we were educated about the glass panel in the floor - previously the priests hole. We chose to return for the second night for a couple of drinks ( we had met friends and had a large lunch )otherwise we would have eaten here on the second night. We sat at the bar this time which had a lovely atmosphere and again a very friendly attentive bar man. It's obviously a very popular place and we were so glad that we found it. The bad drain smell from the bathroom in our room was awful throughout our stay. The hotel front door was bolted when we arrived back at 11pm one night so our keys would not work. It was fifteen minutes before we got in and then the staff started to blame us for not being able to open the door. He said ‘you should have had your key‘ and we did but the door was bolted. Our breakfast table, requested for four guests was small and only suitable for two. The plate with our toast etc was placed on a chair next to our table. The shower was very weak and would not work on full power. We were sitting on a table in the garden and the barman came out and accused us of moving a reserved sign off the table. He said, 'I put a reserve sign on this table so you must have moved it'. He soon realised that it was the next table he had reserved but we never got an apology. Visited many times, not sure if we will be coming again.

We were booked in for Sunday lunch with friends. Food and service usually good but failed today. There were seven of us. For starters they forgot my wife's soup, needed to be reminded and when it came it was cold, sent back; ok when it returned, but started clearing table before she had finished! Everyone got their main meals, but mine didn't arrive so we asked what had happened and they said it was forgotten but it was chef's top priority. When it arrived the pie was cold, so I took it back to the bar, as I couldn't find any serving staff. When the replacement arrived, everyone else had finished their meal, the pie was hot but the vegetables were lukewarm (plate was red hot!). Never were we asked if we wanted another drink, each time we needed to go the bar to order them. The glasses were not cleared and when the 5.00 pm team arrived they looked shocked at the number of glasses on the table. At the end there was no acknowledgement of the errors, so I would think twice before returning. Never were we asked if we happy with the meal

Chipping Camden is the best for accommodation and restaurants. All the food is delicious and the staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and great for a trip to the Cotswolds.

We visited the Eight bells inn for dinner while we were staying in chipping Campden. The food is 10/10 spectacular. We couldn’t believe how good the fish and chips were. We topped it off with a sticky toffee pudding dessert which made it that much better. Would give a 6/5 if it was possible. We were extremely pleased.

A generous 4 stars, would be a 3.5 if I had the choice, but a 3 felt harsh. A charming and historical pub, with a good selection of local beers, made us excited for my birthday meal. Quite a limited menu. We ordered the beef roast and the chicken pie. Unfortunately, portion sizes were no generous. The beef was tasty but only two thin slices, two small roasted potatoes... a joke ! Veg was nice but not a lot, the gravy was good. Tasty chicken pie but extremely small and no parsnip as the menu said. I feel it should be re-branded as a grastro pub which will explain the small portion sizes or increase portion sizes if sticking to a village pub.

What a good find! We arrived right at noon and ordered fish and chips and the mushroom pie. Delicious! Tried the beers on tap and could tell this was a locals spot.

Fantastic old pub in the heart of Chipping Camden. We booked dinner for ten, reuniting family from across the world, prior to a family wedding. Excellent food, great beer, busy, warm and inviting. Just what a good pub should be. The burger was superb washed down with pints of well kept Hooky. The fish and chips, chicken pie, steak, sticky toffee pudding, apple pie - in fact all of it was loved by all. Friendly staff, and some real skill in the kitchen.

What a wonderful experience in every way! The service here is friendly, professional and and everyone made us feel like we were the most important guests in the dining room! Our meals were delicious…the chicken and mushroom pie was the best I had in two weeks in England. The crust was flaky and the filling so flavorful and tender. And the British sirloin steak was cooked as requested and the chips were outstanding. The wines we chose complemented our meals perfectly. And the after dinner port was a generous pour. A side note on how wonderful the service was…we booked our table in person a day before and were seated at our requested spot. Unbeknownst to us another couple thought they had booked the same table at an overlapping time. They came in and instead of waiting a short time for us to finish, they gave the lovely owner quite an earful. She did her best to keep things civil and came to us with a kind request to leave a bit earlier than we planned. We of course wanted to help this situation and told her we would leave as soon as possible. To thank us for our kindness, she comped us a delicious dessert and thanked us over and over. Bottom line: go for the fabulous food and the phenomenal service!

Stow-on-the-Wold was our Cotswold base for several days so we became quite familiar with the town’s cafes and pubs. Popping into Huffkins for a toasted bun and a pot of tea became a favourite thing to do. Their specialties are cream teas and home-made cakes and buns but they also do more substantial breakfast and lunch meals. An interesting thing about Huffkins is that it is housed inside Stow’s oldest building, built around 1450. Heavy wooden beams still feature in the ceilings but the rest of the decor is modern and whilst its clean and neutral, it lacks any historical charm. For those interested in the history, there’s a blue plaque on the wall out the front which gives a brief history of the building.

Had two really lovely meals here - love that they use lots of things from their gardens and seasonal ingredients. Really recommend getting anything with their lamb as some of the best we have ever had. Their pastry chef is amazing and dessert was fab - great vibes and fun music but can easily hear your table so they have pitched it just right. Come a bit early before your reservation to go to Bar Bar as well
