We stopped off for lunch as it was near the TIC carpark. Both had burgers (mine GF so obviously a smaller bun!) Food came really quickly and was hot. They had lots of staff which meant they were on top of clearing tables. Lovely ambience.

As we had booked a table with our dog, we waited at the point that said ‘ wait here to be seated’ a very rude female approached us & said ‘dogs not allowed in here. Another member of staff said to her ‘ I’m looking after these people’. We was seated in the bar area which was ok but we felt a it put out at the attitude of who we later found out to be the restraint manager. So to the Female restaurant manager, you are rude & have no customer service skills. To the lovely staff member that looked after us in the bar area, you should have her job. Average food, spoiled by our first impressions.

We popped in here for a bite to eat one evening having walked past earlier in the week. We hadn't booked but we hadn't booked a table anywhere during our whole holiday. The gentleman who greated us was extremely rude to us, he basically laughed in our face when we said we hadn't booked and spoke to us in a really sarcastic tone. Even the teenagers commented on the rudeness. Honestly I was quite happy to leave. We went over the road and had a beautiful meal at the olive tree instead.

We were looking for somewhere that was dog friendly, we had seen the Brendon Arms before when we have visited Bude but never been to it. I enquired about being dog friendly and did they have a table for 2, it was very busy, but we found a table, I went and got the menus, being told at the Bar that Sunday Roast was finished, my husband chose Scampi, and I had the Ham, we didnt have long to wait for our food, tasty. The staff are all friendly, even giving our dog some treats, would definitely return.

Omg what can I say, exemplary attitudes from each and every member of staff, the service is by far the best. Lots of smiles and very welcoming. We stayed here for a week, the bed was super comfy the room was exceptionally clean. We were greeted by a lovely young man who throughout the week was really helpful, we soon got to know all the staff as they were all so very friendly. I would love to go through all there names, but as all of the staff are incredible at their jobs this could get very lengthy (yawn) my one a only critique would be that the menu could do with an update, and specials menu that lasts the night and not just an hour. The food here is gorgeous don’t get me wrong it just needs some new choices.

The service was excellent from this point onwards. Attentive and speedy without feeling rushed or watched. The food and drinks that we ordered arrived very quickly and it was well presented and tasty, just what was needed after a day of exercise in the wind and rain. This is a very nice cosy, warm and very well presented pub. Plenty of room and most comfortable seating with a choice of public bar, lounge bar and also a further area out the back for dining ‘the saddle room’. The pub has so much history and they have made this part of the theme which gives it loads of character. The staff are really friendly and helpful. It was very busy when we arrived at about 1ish for lunch (always a good sign) and we were shown to a table in the saddle room. We ate burger and scampi and chips and I have to say the portions are generous and the prices really good. I think it was probably the best scampi (with homemade tartar sauce I have ever eaten, and I’ve had a few!). The deserts were very tempting but sadly, we had no room for more ! This was a last minute decision that really paid off as I don’t feel we could have had a better lunch in Bude. Well done to all concerned. I would recommend booking if you want a table in the lounge bar which has a little more atmosphere.

Advising us they would be serving the dinner menu from 5pm. We arrived at 4 30 and were shown to a table where it was again explained dinner served from 5pm but happy to serve us drinks and peruse the menu. The staff were very friendly and professional. How disappointing to have to wait to be served at the bar whilst staff were flicking each other with cloths, then when we asked to order lunch a few minutes later, we received an off handed response and were shocked by this staff member’s attitude when he rudely spoke to a younger colleague in our hearing causing embarrassment to both him and us. The food can only be explained as poor. Over cooked , tasteless aubergine thrown into a bread roll, with processed cheese which hadn’t been melted, a hash brown inside the roll that showed signs of frost damage, no seasoning and absolutely no attempt at presentation. Very very poor.

We are Cornish locals and regularly visit and stay in Bude. This was a long awaited family catch up with brother-in-law and wife on holiday from Norfolk, so no better a place to meet. Unsure of requirements I booked ahead and we were inside. Very much covid aware, one way system in place, doors fully open and tables well spaced. We sat by the door so had the advantage of the lovely sunshine. In these odd times we were thrilled to have such an extensive menu to choose from; there are the usual pub classics but we still had a difficult choice with the remainder. We ham, egg, chips (ticks all the boxes), smoked mackeral salad (very well received by my pie friendly husband). Us ladies had the mushroom/halloumi burger and I (a carnivore) the delicious vegan garden burger. All dished up with a very cheery smile and a chat. All credit to the staff who had a restaurant and a full garden of customers enjoying the sun. Thank you. One suggestion, give all diners a bowl of mixed sauce sachets; I am sure this could take the pressure off repeated requests to your lovely busy staff. See you in September for another menu favourite.

OK so it's a pandemic and some elements are affected by that (service). In a reasonable position by the canal, we stopped here in the garden after a walk. It has a one way system if entry and exit which works well (when people read the sign!!). There is a greeter who allocated a table, waiters/waitresses to take orders and deliver. This makes it appear quite impersonal/perfunctory as you may see a different person each time and they seem too busy to chat etc but that may just be an unfortunate circumstance of the situation. The wines that we selected were not very good. Wine is obviously relatively expensive in pubs but you expect to at least get a fairly good one. This pub comes over as feeling similar to a chain pub like the old Bernie Inns/Toby Inns. An upmarket (and obviously dearer!) Weatherspoons. I'll try it again after the pandemic has become a thing of the past to do it justice.

We had visited the Brendon Arms earlier in the week and although we had to sit outside on the first occasion the food and service was fine. Today when we went the staff were indifferent to us and it took 15 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink - we were in a pub for goodness sake! We ordered our food and when my husband cut into his chicken it was not cooked. This was sent back and the chef sent his apologies and cooked another meal. Once finished we asked for the bill which came with no apology or discount for the uncooked meal. This was pointed out and the cost of 1 dessert of ice cream was taken off.... We stayed in Bude for two nights recently and found ourselves drawn to the Brendon Arms three times, twice for afternoon drinks and once for a pre-booked evening meal (I’d advise to book as the number of tables are limited due to covid and it’s a popular place). They have a fabulous beer garden, great to take advantage of on a sunny day as it’s a real sun trap. We were blessed with good weather in late September and really enjoyed one or two ciders in the afternoon. Good covid measures are in place and we felt quite safe.During both of our afternoon visits we witnessed a number of different meals coming out and all looked good without exception. Lots of clean plates so we were very much looking forward to our meal. Scampi and pies seemed very popular and that’s what we plumbed for for our evening meals. Nice friendly helpful staff maintaining social distancing but keeping it friendly, sat outside and had a tuna mayo sarnie, very enjoyable and a lovely atmosphere with a nice mix of couples, familys and dog owners (and well behaved pooches)

We booked for 4 of us for lunch on a saturday and on arrival we were shown to our table. Tables were well spaced out and a one way system was in place, with hand santitizer readily available. Staff wore face coverings and were careful with social distancing. Orders taken, drinks arrived quickly and food within expected wait time. It was hot, tasty and well presented. Overall a very pleasant lunch and if in Bude again, we would revisit.

Was staying in Bude 2 nights and this was our local being only 5 minutes walk away. To be honest not a great deal of choice for food and drink in Bude especially after 6pm. We twice ate and drank here and on both afternoon occasions had a BLT sandwich, delicious with salad at £6.95, with this a portion of chunky chips at £3.25 again spot on. Washed it down with a pint of thatchers gold cider at £4. Staff organised and friendly, on our second visit it was a warm sunny day so we was lucky enough to get a table outside in this welcoming pub restaurant.

Had a very enjoyable meal at the Brendon Arms. Booked a couple of weeks in advance of our holiday which was advisable. Steak and ale pie lovely. Staff (all except one) very friendly and professional. Tried to book again but unfortunately no room. Would recommend.

Family meal Difficult to get a table but took that as a good signWhen we finally managed to book, upon arrival we received a nice welcome and were promptly taken to our table, our needs for eating with small children were quickly accommodated and drinks orderedGood selection of ales including St Austels The venue was very nice, open, bright, nice decor, good outside area with a view of the canal and free parkingBack to the mealOverall typical pub food on the menu:Pulled pork burger - the pork and bacon were very fatty (left about a third) and I didn’t think the sour dough bun complemented the taste, the chips however were spot on - the mealin my opinion was averageNo children’s menu just a smaller appetite menu which I thought was expensive for a 2 year old to eat off.Desserts were a bit expensive and the chocolate brownie sundae didn’t say it had a raspberry sauce with it which I didn’t like and wouldn’t of picked if I had known Lemon meringue roulade was very goodNo children’s desserts other than small ice cream.I did enjoy our time out however, the staff were very pleasant- the only thing I didn’t like was that when our plates were cleared the waitress scraped one plate onto another at the table before taking them away - 10 years as a waitress I know that should be done away from the customers table.Overall a nice evening out

This place serves good bear, good pub food, there is a great outside area. Booking is recommended if you want to eat inside. They have sky sports for those who need their sports fix while in holiday. Probably the top pub in Bude. It does get busy though, especially an a sunny day.

Fully booked inside, managed to get seated outside eventually. Good social distancing measures in place, food was ok, slightly on the pricey side we thought for what it was. Nice enough overall

We had an excellent Sunday Lunch, plenty to eat, very tasty and competitively priced, with friendly service. The staff made us feel very welcome and service was speedy, despite being a busy Sunday lunchtime on a sunny day. All Covid-19 regulations were being strictly adhered to and we felt confident to eat there. We're coming back in the evening in a couple of days time, that's how good it was.

Good service, good knowledge of the Drinks Menu and we were really impressed by the excellent way the staff are dealing with the current covid issues. All members of staff had face masks - fully on - and we watched as they thoroughly cleaned every table and chair between customers. We felt safe and comfortable

Looked fab in the website so I was keen to go, but was disappointing . We rang a number of times throughout the week to try to book but the phone just rang on and on endlessly. Eventually, after days of ringing the phone finally got answered. We booked. The food was ok. Didn’t feel welcoming at all , the staff weren’t very friendly or helpful, wouldn’t race to go back . There are much nicer more friendly places with better food in Bude to go to to be brutally honest.

Pre booked and stopped of for an evening meal with my family on the last day of our holiday, food was really nice, well cooked and we didn’t wait long for it to arrive. Would recommend the hunters chicken it was delicious. Team were very polite and helpful and their policy on social distancing and cleanliness was outstanding. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and the desserts were 1st class. Would definitely return we we come back to bude.

We were coming on holiday to Bude for a week to celebrate a birthday..Booked 2 tables for Sunday lunch a couple weeks before we were due to be there. Have eaten here before and never been disappointed and this time was no different aside from the general change due to Covid. That said the food and service was still fab and all the team made every effort to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment. Thank you

We went to this pub after a day visit to Bude. Walked in and were immediately seated outside. We were eating with a 6 yr old and a 1 yr old. Food was fantastic, covid 19 regulations properly adhered to here. Our 6 yr old daughter ‘inhaled’ her pasta as it was sooo good!! Wonderful pub and excellent staff

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
