The Victory never fails to impress me with their food another fantastic sunday lunch was had with a selection on offer of pork, beef, turkey or gammon. I had a mix of all except beef this time. Veg was well cooked and not hard like some Sunday lunch venues, meat was tender and the gravy delicious.

Two of us stopped here for a bit of lunch on a cold January day. There is a very homely feel to this pub and we received a warm welcome. My friend had a sandwich with chips and I had gammon, egg and chips. The food was plentiful and looked appetising. I thoroughly enjoyed mine. The portion size was good, plenty of ham and a generous serving of chips. All in all a pleasant experience.

Just the most wonderful Xmas Dinner. Often a pub lunch may have more expectations but this was just fantastic. Nicely decorated pub, the starter of salmon, cream cheese, poached pear and fresh dill, the variation of flavour and textures was outstanding. Traditional Xmas Dinner but beef and turkey was also an option, veggies cooked really well with spices and seasoning, no microwave mush here. Shredded red cabbage, turnip, peas, and a fabulous separately cooked cauliflower cheese, with loads of cheese burnt/ melted on top. Yorkshire, sausage ball and the best tangy gravy with an extra boat full. Can honestly say , with crackers and fabulous service , we had a wonderful time and can't recommend the Xmas Dinner enough .

Hear great things but unfortunately on our visit it came up short. Long wait time for service, long wait time for food and the food was ok but nothing special and the roast potatoes were dreadful. Rock hard, and i do mean solid. Think they were undercooked ran out of time thrown into a deep fat fryer and left too long. Overall disappointing.

We ate here twice during our stay in Porthtowan: once for a Sunday roast and once for a casual dinner. Both times our food was absolutely delicious! The Sunday roast was one of the best we've had in any pub, and our dinners (we both had the chicken pie) were well-seasoned and hit the spot. They have a lovely selection of ales, lagers and ciders and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We were happy to have found the Victory Inn as we were staying in Porthtowan during the summer and to be honest, the restaurants in Porthtowan were overrun and not very good. The Victory Inn was the perfect mix of cozy, friendly, local and tasty.

Really impressed with this pub, mainly thanks to the wonderful service we received from the young blonde waitress on a Saturday evening. On the day we went, a Saturday, the Victory seemed quietly busy. We were sat in an area containing three tables. Which provided enough space for each table to have a private conversation. Service was friendly and efficient from the minute we entered and throughout our visit. The food was plentiful and and delicious. The menu was well placed, a good variety of dishes including several options for v, vg and gluten free. We would happily return here. Our only complaint was that the side salad was too big and more of a main 🤣

The service was great, the staff were super friendly and made us feel very relaxed and valued. The food was delicious. I had steak which was locally sourced. It was the nicest steak I have ever had, so tender and lean. The portion was huge too. My husband had fish and chips which he said was also delicious. Watching C.B. Strike on television in California and noticed the pub in the background. After reading the reviews, comments, and responses, we can’t wait to stop by on our next visit to Cornwall. A Victory Inn can be seen in “Troubled Blood” (possibly Series 5 in the UK) of CB Strike. However, it might be another “Victory Inn” in Cornwall, perhaps in St. Mawes. I’m assuming that you are located in Truro. Please forgive any confusion. We spent a week of hiking in Cornwall and stayed in St. Ives.

On arrival we found the place was very busy, lots of locals and families on holiday. We were welcomed at the bar and taken to a side extension which was less busy and nice for us to eat. The lady went through the specials and menu, was so polite and friendly. We ordered amd the food came a short while later. Clearly home cooked, great taste, great portions and good value for money. Had high hopes for a meal at this pub but very disappointed. A few things on the menu had run out so limited choice. Opted for the burger but after a few bites noticed it was rather pink. Spoke to the waitress and landlord who explained that the burger had some sort of tomato paste or flavouring which made it look reddish/pink but as I advised the landlord it looked undercooked and I couldn’t unsee that. He said that other customers had raised this too and that was how the chef prepared the burgers, but unfortunately not for me as it does look undercooked. To be fair, the landlord removed the charge from the bill and offered another meal or free pudding but by this time I just wanted to pay up and leave. I had booked another meal for next week but cancelled this immediately. Update : Following a response from owner regarding my review I would like to add that of the remaining menu available nothing took my fancy - I would have preferred to have the pie of the day but this was but unfortunately was sold out which is why I refused a replacement meal You also stated that the kitchen was due to close shortly, so not instilled with confidence that something would be rushed out. Also, it wasn’t 10 minutes after I was asked if everything was on that I came to see you. The first bite or two that I had taken didn’t seem as big a problem (although slightly pink) as the latter part when you had left. It was more pinkish at the point of reporting it to you and I had also asked my wife to look at it as she was sat closer to the window and in natural light. If that’s the way your chef prepares things then so be it but you also commented that other customers had raised this point as well. There was nothing else you could have done at the time as the dining experience was ruined for me, but removing the charge was appreciated. I’d like to think I give fair reviews but give us a chance to start to eat the meal. Just because someone nods their head or grunts with a mouth full of food doesn’t mean that things can’t deteriorate with a meal. As you’ll recall we also had another burger that my son had which was less pink/ better cooked than mine. He did however ask for no salad but was served the burger with a slice of beef tomato and he did mention this to you at the bar later, having disposed of the tomato in a side dish. Sometimes things don’t go to plan and you have to accept this. If your chef won’t change his preparations and you’re paying his wages and you’ve mentioned this to him previously then maybe time for a serious chat. Can’t see why tomato paste needs to be put into the burger pate anyway. It’s not as though these burgers are cheap. Please note that I’m not trying to do you a disservice, but this is based on my personal dining experience on the evening in question. I’m sure you’ve have many satisfied customers but the meal wasn’t up to standard for me, so much so, that I didn’t want to revisit for a previously book appointment. Thanks for taking the time to reply but maybe we’ll have to agree to disagree on the quality of this particular meal.

If you’re going around Kingsand or stay nearby, you must at least visit this historic pub. We had cornish pastries which were very lovely and massive as well as some drinks. The place was very beautiful as the pub is seafront. We went there when it was raining quite heavily and windy but i bet that it would be very nice when it’s summer or spring.

We had a wonderful time at this fantastic pub, where a very friendly bar lady warmly welcomed us. As a family of five with three young children, we found this place to be incredibly family-friendly. The food was superb, with fresh seafood, and the king's prawns and scallops were particularly delicious. The downstairs area of the pub has a great atmosphere – cozy, warm, and with an old-world charm. We sat upstairs at a large table with views over the bay. It was a truly enjoyable and memorable evening during our holiday. I also thought the prices for both food and drinks were very reasonable. We would definitely visit again when we're next in the area.
