The best restaurants serving British food in The Vale of Glamorgan South East

Three women stood behind the counter took an age to take our order then an age to bring it out. £26 for fish chips chicken nuggets. Don’t offer take away boxes, won’t give take away bags. Disinterested, rude and ignorant. Plenty of good chippies around I would avoid this place like the plague.

Fab service from lovely staff, who provided coffee, ice cream and cake even though we arrived after closing time! Will definitely visit again.

Excellent service, more importantly the food was absolutely 💯 delicious, the fish was cooked to perfection, highly recommend this place .

Myself and my partner come down to Barry island to have a mini break and see the attractions, including the Stacy and Gavin parts and we decided to do the pub part last before we set off back to the midlands, I was hoping that the pub was going to be good, however it was just OK at best, I have nothing bad to be said about the staff or the food as that was ok. However I just felt let down by the state of the pub and its upkeep. I felt the pub felt sorry for itself, it wouldn’t do it harm to fill in the holes in the walls, the men’s toilets was quite shocking, the walls where battered and needed repainting and just good spruce up wouldn’t do it any harm. Majority of places we went around Barry did reference the gavin and Stacy tribute, wouldn’t do it hard to do the same , especially as this is the pub that quiz was held in. I think also it would most probably more custom in. Again nothing wrong with food or staff they were lovely just the building that needs sorting.

Beef tough,had to ask for a steak knife,not enough vegetables.Went home hungry,dont waste yor money going here.Went home and had food in the house as it didnt fill me.

Awful experience. Over an hour wait for food ( no prior warning given) Child's chips arrived covered in salt and inedible. When I complained I was told the chef seasons the chips before they leave the kitchen. I pointed out than non of the six adult meals we had ordered had salt on them, waiter just shrugged and walked off. Such a beautiful setting but the service was shocking. Won't be returning.

Very poor service, struggled to get our table on arrival along with very poor table service from quite an abrupt young man. I ordered the mushrooms as a starter and was served some very dry toast with a few mushrooms and barely any sauce. When I asked if I could have some more sauce I was told no as it was an exact portion! The food was generally poor!

Mike was an absolute gem in welcoming us to the airport. A great atmosphere and fantastic service . All around a fantastic experience! Thanks Mike for making it a great start to our day before jetting off on our holidays!

¡Qué decepción! No soy amante de las nuevas máquinas que han instalado en los mejores momentos, pero la visita de hoy ha sido la peor hasta ahora. De lo sublime a lo ridículo: un chocolate caliente negro al 65 % que era tan débil que era como beber agua de vajilla, y un chai latte que era tan fuerte que era increíble. ¡Asegúrense de M&S! Esperaremos hasta que lleguemos a casa para una bebida caliente la próxima vez.

Fabulous ham salad, served by very pleasant lady, very chatty and welcoming Highly recommended plus the coffee was beautiful

Wow this place as gone so far down hill :(. We went for mother's day lunch and the food was terrible and the service awful. The roast dinners were poor quality, everything is simply reheated. The waitress commented on how much we'd eaten! We had money off for hairs in dessert. There are so many good places to eat in the Vale that we certainly don't need to eat here again. What a disappointment, the place is now a dump.

We initially walked past as we had been told that the fish bar down on the sea front was the best. However, after queing for 10 mins and seeing several orders messed up and a workforce in complete disarray and berating each other in front of the customers.... we left the queue and headed back to Sea View. We made the right choice, the chips are perfect and the curry sauce is amazing. Portion sizes are good and costs are good for the current climate. I'll be back soon

Horrendous service, asked for ice cream in a tub, the server made a mistake, proceeded to remove the ice cream from the cone and then placed the left over Ice cream into a tub!! He then was using the same cone on another flavoured ice cream.. horrendous behaviour. I then asked for the cone to compensate the mishap he made with the order, he then had the gall to ask me for 30 pence extra for that. Try the cafe on the pier front, much better service there, please avoid this place!
