I always had a great coffee here, but since the new coffee machines have been installed the latte's are watery (not creamy) and cold. I don't even like a boiling hot coffee and I even find these on the cold side. I have tried a few takeaway coffees now just incase it was a one off and when I asked if they could be made hotter I was told no as the machines are set at this temp. I am gutted as I always found the coffees perfect here.

Visited marks to shop for summer outfits with my son and stop for lunch. The cafe was busy, and tables with dishes left waiting to be cleared. We ended up having just a coffee.

Had all day breakfast, when it arrived it looked amazing, but unfortunately when I went to eat it everything was cold .Did not have time to wait for it to be replaced. Coffee was very good though

7.30 and not a single till open in the food hall. Your charge a premium price but no longer offer a premium shopping experience.

One of those places that really shouldn't promise what they can't deliver. We were happy to queue 15 minutes for a table - fair enough, it was a busy half-term lunchtime. Once inside you can pick up cold food (M & S sandwiches, cakes etc) and hot drinks as you pay, and that's fine. But if you opt for one of the hot meals, widely advertised outside - pasta, fish & chips, baked potatoes, soups, etc - then they give you a disc with a number on it to take to your table. And that's where it all went wrong. Were the discs meant to buzz when your food was ready? Does anyone make a note of where you're sitting? One harassed waiter was wandering about with loaded trays shouting out numbers, before disappearing again. After 45 minutes our food arrived: one ham and cheese toastie, only toasted on one side, and a plate of macaroni cheese that had been warmed up in a microwave. If you're going to offer hot food and don't have the staff to deliver it (both in front of and behind the scenes), then stick to more snack-type meals and let people pick them up from the counter, like they do at Pret. Or simply offer cold food and let people just queue up, pay, and find a seat. And just be more organised and welcoming - we expected more from M & S.

Food and service is very good here. When there were no longer any tables and member of staff with short hair and glasses, she took control. She stopped orders going through for a few minutes and got extra staff cleaning tables. This is great customer service and made customers experience much easier.

Chose to eat here, rather than the Copthorne hotel, much better, very friendly staff. Very clean and spacious.

Very helpful staff, spotlessly clean and excellent food. We were impressed by this café in Marks & Spencer Culverhouse Cross, and had 100% confidence in the implementation of their Covid prevention measures. Attractive décor and good spacing between tables.

Cafe was busy, with what felt like a long queue. The queue moved quickly and the cooked food survived very quickly. Food was great, coffee excellent, and the free of charge mini cake a great bonus!

We visited for our first post-lockdown meal and were not disappointed. 2 delicious meals, a side and chips, and two generous portions of cake for under£20.I enjoyed a delicious stonebaked pizza topped with rocket and my other half had a Spinach and Mushroom Frittata - both were amazing but I was quite jealous of his frittata and I would have that next time!I plan to return for the breakfast rolls at the weekend, which look amazing!All in all, a fantastic visit and highly recommended, a far cry from the soggy sandwich at other supermarket cafes.

Like many other reviewers, i find the attitude of M and S management to its customers pretty poor. Even without covid restrictions, queues are long and slow, tables are often disgustingly littered and dirty and service slow. I have been when the cafe was almost completely empty but most tables were dirty and littered. This might possibly be OK in a cheap 'caff' but M and S cafe is not cheap. Food is of high quality, as it should be for the price. The fundamental problem is that the cafe is so busy. Staff who would otherwise be helpful are just too much under pressure. But what is the use of smart surroundings and lovely food if the cafe is dirty and messy and food is tepid by the time you are able to eat it? You queue at one point to order and pay, than queue again to collect hot drinks. It is up to you to locate sweeteners, napkins, glasses, all of which are at a third location. To keep the cafe neat and clean reuqires more than one individual, yet that's all there is, and sometimes one wonders who trained him or her. On the occasion when the empty cafe was so dirty, I had a broken arm. Even so, I could have cleared and cleaned tables faster than the individual plodding around and not even using a tray to carry dirty dishes! I wrote to complain , on that occasion, and was given an apology and a voucher for some free coffee. But nothing changed. To keep up with the presure of demand, M and S need to devise a better system and have a couple more staff on duty. They are suffering financially and have been for some time. It is no surprise when they treat their regular customers so badly. My local M and SS cafe opens to the car park and can be freezing cold. Why isn't there a double porch? It is a huge building costing millions. It is just bad planning. Why can't tables be cleared as soon as customers leave? Cleanliness and attractiveness should be a priority. Coffes and teas do take time to prepare. Why are there not more staff producing them? Why would any member of staff have to visit the kitchens to find out if a certain meal is available? Haven't they heard of intercoms?

Cada vez que visito este café, las colas siempre son largas, la caja registradora donde pides y pagas la comida parece tomar una eternidad y cuando haces eso, si el personal que hace las bebidas calientes es gratis, te preguntarán qué quieres, buena idea. pensaría ahorrar tiempo, pero cuando llegue a la caja registradora, ordene y pague, recoja su cuppa, cuando llegue a la mesa, si puede encontrar uno, el té está frío. Pedí una papa de chaqueta, aunque llegó bastante rápido, estaba tibia, ¡igual que el té de hecho! ¡No solo el té y el almuerzo fríos, el café estaba helado! ! Aire acondicionado en febrero? Me acerqué a dos miembros del personal, pero como estaban ocupados no se hizo nada. Muchos clientes tenían sus abrigos puestos. M&S realmente necesitan clasificarse, es muy decepcionante ya que soy un comprador de M&S y siempre hago una tienda después de visitar el Café, pero desafortunadamente no, hay suficientes oportunidades.

Not been here for some time but called today for a drink and snack. Two tills open with long queues and it took 15 minutes to get served. The girl on the till kept disappearing into the kitchen to find out if they had certain things as it seemed a lot of items were not available. I asked for a glass for my cold drink and was directed over to another area. No glasses available. Asked another two people before someone went to get clean glasses from the kitchen which were steaming hot! Not good for cold drinks. The place was rammed full but only one poor man rushing around trying to clear tables and clean them. More staff needed. Lots of food being left uneaten and one or two complaints however my food when it arrived was very good.

Se reunió con amigos para tomar un café, el café tiene un sistema curioso por el cual hacía cola para comprar bebidas solo para que me dijeran que tenía que hacer cola nuevamente al otro lado de la misma área (mismo personal) para pagar primero y luego volver al primer punto para obtener las bebidas con otra cola más.Qué sistema tan estúpido, habría ido a otro lado pero no quería molestar a nuestros amigos. ¿Por qué no hacer cola una vez y pagar y tomar bebidas de una vez? Vamos M&S.

Llamé para un refrigerio y café y una gran cola afuera con los clientes retenidos hasta el espacio para entrar. Una vez adentro, tardó 15 minutos en ordenar y esperar un café. Simplemente no parece haber suficiente personal preparando el café y aquellos en la caja desaparecen para ayudar con otras cosas. Vamos a la gerencia, no es culpa del personal, ellos están trabajando duro, pero debes estar al tanto de esto para que puedas disfrutar de tu taza de café y bocadillo en pocos minutos. Otros cafés pueden hacer esto, ¿por qué no M&S? El sándwich y el pastel eran muy sabrosos cuando finalmente se sentó a comerlo.

Ambos comimos sándwiches y estaban muy secos, como si hubieran estado tirados por un tiempo. También fue muy difícil conseguir un asiento allí y todos parecen estar abarrotados. No volvería allí de nuevo.

After a shopping trip on a weekday lunchtime, visited the cafe for a light bite and a coffee. The restaurant was crowded, the tables that were free were uncleared and in need of cleaning. There was debris on the floor and a constant stream of kitchen noise where we were able to find a table. Coffee was ok and sandwich mediocre. Not a relaxing or particularly pleasant experience - I was glad to leave.

Nice selection of food and drinks. However, it’s always very busy and noisy. Sometimes it’s impossible to get a table. We have had to leave on a few occasions. Having said that, when we do get a table the food is very enjoyable.

What a stupid decision to close my favourite breakfast place !...first they closed the restaurant upstairs where you could have breakfast or lunch with waitress service...always very popular and often a queue for a table ..and now the deli.The Cafe Revive is dreadful...cold basic with appalling service .I asked why ? and was told if they close one in one town they close them all...!! no wonder M and S is not doing well.I am a loyal customer who spends most of my money in M and S ...please listen to your customers and IMPROVE your facilities .A disastrous decision ...I used to use my coffee vouchers in the deli but now I have a purse full of unused coffee vouchers ...

My friend and I meet regularly for lunch here as it is so convenient. We have had consistently bad service but last week was the worst. I was kept waiting to give my order while three members of staff emptied the crockery off plastic trays. They then had a conversation despite having been reminded that I was waiting. We were given two filthy teapots with brown stains from the spout to the base, a chipped milk jug and dirty cups. The floor behind the counter was dirty and littered and the service station in the actual restaurant was surrounded by spilt food and debris .

Decent food and beverages. Always busy so it must be doing something right. Particularly like the soup.

Popped in for a snack with my husband. Found the 2 serving stations a little strange and went to the wrong side at first. There were 2 people in front of me but it seemed to take an age to order my coffee and hand in my sandwiches for toasting. I was unsure how long we would have to wait as another customer's items were placed down to go to the kitchen and then ours was put on top. I didn't see the items taken to the kitchen before we sat down with our electronic table number but after 3 minutes our toasties were on the table ready for us to eat. So that was a bonus. However, the cafe itself has do many tables in cloae proximity to one another, it feels a little cramped. Also, there were a couple of young girls who were working on the dish clearing station who were enjoying a really good natter. A young boy told them not to stand about so much and whether they were joking or not, I didn't feel it totally appropriate. I have been to many better M and S cafes.

I often have a coffee and slice of cake here with my mum and daughter. The drinks and food are good quality but they should really have more staff. There are always big queues and lots of tables with dirty dishes on. We expect more from M&S;.

I’m currently sat in the cafe at M&S; culverhouse cross and have to say the service is shocking! The queues were pretty long on both tills and a young gentleman named Thomas didn’t so much as even aknowledge the queue or customers, he pottered around looking for cups and told a young girl to go on the till who was as equally rude as him, the only person who was really doing anything was a young man called Rhys who was making the coffees, we are sat watching this poor young man having to make coffee and serve customers while the other gentleman Thomas is still doing nothing. He went to get some packets of something and came back and threw them on the counter, another customer aknowledged this and said to my husband he clearly doesn’t enjoy his iob. Next time i’ll drive a bit further down the road to Costa instead of wasting my money in here. Very disappointing!

Visited M&S; Culverhouse Cross on Sunday and went to the In store Cafe. The whole experience was a total shambles. Took over 25 minutes to get served in the most shambolic layout I’ve ever seen. We then waited another 20 minutes for our food ( a couple of tea cakes) to arrive by which time we had drunk our coffee. Tea cakes were cold on arrival as the waitress had walked round 5 times trying to find us. There was a manager standing around doing nothing but hand out refunds due to the shocking service. We didn’t bother as I just wanted to get out of the place. On the upside the M&S; food department was fantastic, well stocked, helpful staff lots of tills open. The Cafe manager could learn a lot from this other department within store.

Let's get straight to the point located on the west side of the city with adequate parking this is your typical Marks and Spencer store you may wonder why I've given 5 stars well the food is gorgeous, something you actually expect from M&S; and the staff are really polite and helpful. What idiot decided to close this consistently popular deli bar with a unique USP and reason for visit. Like others have said I often only go to Culver to go to the deli bar for a treat and then end up mooching in store and buying something. With no reason to visit you have lost another sale. It's no wonder your business is on the slide when you simply do not understand what your customers want. Unbelievable

Always loved the deli restaurant in M and S culver x what idiot decided to close it . It was an oasis that I attended not just to shop but took friends there for lunch . They all loved it . It was clean and good food and staff were happy and great . You could even have a glass of wine or fizz after your shopping , it always seemed to be well supported . Had the misfortune of being forced into the cafe yesterday for a coffee as the deli was closed ....... awful experience ! One of which I will not be repeating , dirty dishes all over tables and food all over floor , no atmosphere , queues to b served. I’ve been in better greasy spoons . Staff were miserable and clearly not happy with their lot . Whosever idea it was to close the deli bar please sack them ! !

The store is large and well stocked with an excellent range. The food court was good, but the menu limited. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable and were able to direct you straight to the items you rquired

Astounded to hear the Deli is closing down. Shorted sighted decision. Will lose revenue from many people who visit store to enjoy Deli then spend in other areas, not visa versa.

The last time I was at this restaurant I was not very impressed but yesterday’s staff could not have been more helpful and efficient. The food, as always, was standard Marks and Spencer fare- no surprises, standard prices!

We had eggs benedict and coffee. Both top class and nothing to complain about. Both served quickly and hot!

As a place to spend an hour or so, the Deli had an ambience a step up from a regular coffee shop

Dirty tables covered in dirty crockery, cutlery and debris. No staff even though it was 13:30 and busy with lunches. Because it was busy the till staff were doing their best but there was nowhere to sit. I was told this was normal - Disgusting!

Went for a quick bite lunch in a party of 9. All food was very well presented and delicious. What let it down was queuing to get the food. There seemed to be a hold up at the tills as only one person there and they also had to take sandwiches to kitchen to be toasted and make the hot drinks. Need a better staff management system.

Feeling really hot in this lovely weather. Whilst shopping we thought we'd pop in the cafe for an iced drink. We met 2 friends who decided to join us !..My husband and i had the frappelatte which we had had a few times before and it was gorgeous.However, on this occasion it was just plonked in front of us with no cream or offer of it ! Our faces were really disapointed. Then our friends ordered an iced cloudy lemonade...which was like a cup of lemon squash ! I really thought it was so disapointing seen as they are £2.65 each ???? If anyone fancied trying one i would steer clear ! Awful.

My husband ordered the fish and chips. The portion was small. The chips were oven chips and were burnt on the edges. The fish was blackened it was so over cooked. I ordered the ham hock and cheddar pie, with potatoes and salad. The pie crust and top was burnt and the salad was just leaves, nothing else. We had two Americano coffees with this and the cost was £21. Excessive for poor quality food and small portions.

Had a breakfast here and had to send it back twice as the bacon was “ a burnt offering” and the eggs were cold Over priced and poor quality Not what you would expect!

My partner and i visited the deli for a lunch as we do on a monthly basis. We each chose the avocado,prawn and crab salad. We were told that they were out of crab. This was a little surprising as it was early afternoon. However we asked if salmon could be substituted. We were told that they were NOT allowed to transfer from other dishes. They could however give us more prawns. We reluctantly agreed to this . When our salads appeared it was evident that the prawns had not seemed to increase. The salad, which was not cheap consisted mainly of watercress and lettice.

Visited the cafe at lunch time, as was doing a spot of shopping. Great selection of hot and cold drinks. Good selection of fresh cakes, sandwiches, good menu for hot food they serve items from toasted sandwiches, jacket potatoes with a good choice of fillings, curry, fish and chips and even soup, great choice and will please all the family.

I had seen people enjoying an afternoon tea in Culverhouse Cross M&S;, several weeks prior to my visit today. However on reading the reviews on this website I was really disappointed as I wanted to take a friend there for a small birthday treat. So, I phoned the store to ensure that things would not be the same today.

Yet again, I had to complain about the lack of refreshment foods, in the café for my husband, who has a wheat allergy. When are you going to listen to customer feed back and address this issue??????

Good food with a good selection but there can be a bit of a wait. Hot drinks are never very hot but on the plus side staff are always friendly and helpful.

I regularly visit the Culverhouse M & S to have lunch with a few of my dancing friends, my husband drops me off but then calls in to pick me up later in the afternoon. However, over the last couple of visits there has been NO GLUTEN FREE OPTION for him to have with his coffee. In fact at our last visit, (15.3.18) there were 11 ELEVEN options for us to choose from, but ONE SMALL WRAPPED BAR for my husband, and I think this an appalling state of affairs for a company as large as M & S.

Great laid out shop with plenty of choice to suit everyone.The home department upstairs has a lovely arrangement of stock from bedding to furniture.The clothing department downstairs is well laid out with a cafe for when you feel in need of a cuppa.Plenty of styles for all ages from women,men’s and children well worth a visit.

A very busy cafe with a restricted menu. However the food is good quality and always presented nicely. The seating is uncomfortable and there was soiled tables. In my opinion there are not enough staff to cope with the volume of customers.

Sadly we went here for a coffee mid shopping trip,the cafe area was unkempt and cluttered,and the drinks were cold. I attempted to send them back and was growled at by the assistant who begrudgingly swapped them for drinks that were just as tepid. Sadly I certainly would not go here to drink again and have not done any grocery/food shopping either since (which used to be a weekly ritual). It seems that M&S; need to get on top of their cafe here before it looses them anymore loyal customers.

My family and I visited the restaurant at Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff today and ordered two soups amongst other items. When the soup arrived - my partner had a full bowl of Mulligatawney and I had a half bowl of broccili and stilton - I remarked to the waitress at the time that he had considerably more than me but she just shrugged - as we were hungry I didnt feel it was worth making a fuss even though it seemed a very mean portion for £4. However - as my soup did not appear to be hot - indeed the bowl was barely warm and there was no heat or steam rising from it - I took a spoonful and to my surprise it was searingly hot in the middle and I badly burnt my tongue - which is still uncomfortable as I write at 10pm. Evidently, the soup - even though it was only half a bowl - had been heated in a microwave and served up to me without even stirring. I realise now I should have complained at the time - but I was dealing with my sons needs - and felt at the time it was my fault and that maybe I should have been more careful - and prepared for hot soup? However, in retrospect - I didnt imagine the soup would have been microwaved as it usually comes from a heated cauldron of some sort - and even if this wasn't case then it was at the very least careless and rather unprofessional to serve microwaved food without stirring it first. Needless to say I will not be visiting this establishment again. The cutlery was a bit dirty as well.

Called in this afternoon for a snack and coffee, we were provided with appropriate cutlery, but when I checked them before use, I found the knives in particular were disgusting with food remnants clearly evident. The other pieces of cutlery weren’t very clean either. We asked a member of staff for some clean cutlery and she said she would get some, however she didn’t seem interested so we had to ask someone else, she stated that there was no need to worry as the cutlery had been cleaned in their dishwasher. The problem is, the dishwasher is not cleaning the cutlery efficiently and is a cause for concern. Additionally, some of the staff cleaning tables tend to wipe any food crumbs etc onto the floor which soon becomes filthy.

Visited the Deli Bar for a late lunch on a quiet Friday afternoon. We opted for the new seafood platter for 2 to share. The platter consisted of prawns, smoked trout, smoked salmon, crab meat, mayo and 3 different types of bread - all delicious! Will definitely opt for this again.

W called at the deli at about 2.00 pm for a lunch.We ordered the large seafood platter to share between the two of us.This dish has been changed from our last visit and now includes some white crab meat. The platter includes some bread and dips.We always find that the fish is far too much for the amount of bread provided so we ordered a portion of chunky chips. They were very nice but chunky is not the correct description for them as they were more skinny .

I had lunch at M&S; at Culverhouse Cross on the outskirts of Cardiff last week, it's not an experience I would want to repeat! The sandwich selection was very limited, the queued to the tills and coffee were endless, the tables that were vacant were stacked with dirty dishes, there were no serviettes and the cutlery were few and not very clean. The staff that were working were rushed off their feet and clearly stress - not the lunchtime experience I had expected or hoped for!

Three female friends dropped in for Lunch on Sunday 1st October, jacket potatoes were nice and fresh and with good options on toppings, very enjoyable, would return,

At the end of a shopping trip to the M&S; store we decided to take lunch at their Deli and thoroughly enjoyed the seafood platter. It was well presented and tasty. The seating area was a little on the chilly side but overall we felt we had good value for money.

As I live very near to M&S I have been to the cafe many times. However I've given it a miss since my last review in February but decided to pop in for a coffee at the weekend. I wish I hadn't. The system at the checkout is clearly not working as we had to wait so long for hot drinks. The staff didn't give a damn. They kept walking off and were rude. Something has to be done. Are there any managers? The cafe itself was absolutely filthy. The tables weren't cleared and the floor was disgraceful. They have real hygiene issues which need to be reported. Shame on you M&S

Decided to stop for lunch today at the cafe after taking son back to Cardiff Uni. It took quite a long time to order but, being a Sunday at lunchtime, it was understandably busy. We ordered two jacket potatoes and two coffees but 30 minutes later with coffee drank there was no sign of our food. My husband noticed that a gentleman behind him in the queue received his food order before ours so he went to investigate. It transpired that our order couldn't be traced so we decided to have a refund without being offered anything for waiting over half an hour! Asked to see manager but hadn't been seen for 'a couple of hours!' We ended up buying some sandwiches in the food hall and eating them in the car since we were starving by this time! We could see at least 3 members of staff cleaning the tables but only one poor woman serving the food! Also at the time of ordering we were given little electronic devices to place on the table which, we thought, were for the staff to locate us and bring our food. However, on watching the lady delivering the food she appeared to be wandering around all the tables looking for the correct device without it actually doing anything! Couldn't work out what the benefit of these were! Have noticed that nearly all M&S cafes I have visited have issues with speed of service but this really does take the biscuit. Such a shame when the rest of the store appears to run smoothly. Unlikely to return.

Cardiff in general is great for shopping, the only down side is the beggars, they aren't afraid to constantly annoy you & if I had been here without my Boyfriend I would of felt very intimidated & scared. I walk round leeds regularly and felt safer than I did in Cardiff City Centre, I would'nt advise a woman to go here by herself

Visiting Cardiff for the day we went to M&S for snack. Every vacant table was cluttered with dirty dishes etc.Had to clear one ourselves before we could sit down. The cafe was very busy but when staff brought food to customers they went back empty handed completely ignoring the piles of dirty crockery left on tables! It was like this during the whole of our meal. Not M&S usual standard

What a disappointment. We really fancied a nice quiet cuppa & a bit if cake after our shopping at M&S. The cafe is mainly self service with staff serving on the hot drinks counter. The lady that initially served us was curt to the point of rudeness & not particularly helpful either. She insisted on actually seeing the carrot cake that we had chosen rather than taking my word thats what was on the tray. She didn't tell us where to wait for the tea so I had to ask. When the tea arrived I couldn't see any teaspoons so asked where they were. The young man serving went & found some spoons & put them in the empty spoon holder, all without a word! The staff act like they are doing us a massive favour.The tea was lovely but it's hard to get a pot of tea wrong. The hot chocolate 'wasn't very nice' in the words of my son and he left most of the carrot cake because it was 'disgusting'.Whilst we were sat in the booth there was lots of noise coming from the kitchrn area off to the side. The staff were obviously throwing glass bottles into the recycling & chatting & laughing loudly amongst themselves. I'm sounding like a bit of a killjoy now but they were really loud & it wasn't creating the right atmosphere at all.When we left we noticed that the floor was really dirty with dropped food everywhere.Dreadful.

Why do the staff spend so much time talking to each other when they could be working, all boxes of mixed size eggs were broken, reported to staff but no attempt to clear and replace.

My aunt likes to shop here and I dread taking her because she always insists upon having lunch there; the food is horrible. I'm trying to diet and is there anything suitable? No. They have, I think, 2 salads there. One with feta cheese and one with prawns. If they had a plain salad that would be fine but everything else is around 400 calories and above. The queues are bad, the system they have is difficult to understand and, although the staff are great, it cannot make up for the food. Moreover, I have mentioned my impression of the cafe to others and they have themselves told me the food is horrible. I'm sure the cakes etc are very nice but if one can't/won't eat high calorie/fat things then the options are virtually non-existent. How about fruit salad or yogurts? Tesco are better, which is a worrying thing to say!

What a large Store out of town very great place and browse and buy things . Great paring are as well if you are in the area it just off the M4

Visit here quite often, and although there are signs everywhere saying the food you eat there is available in the food hall to buy, they often run out of some dishes and won't go and get more from the food hall. So you either have something else or go without. Very poor from a service point of view.

We love their platters, fish very generous and ploughman's fantastic. The atmosphere is great and the staff lovely. Coffees are enjoyable and it's good to taste food that is for sale in the shop. A really enjoyable experience.

This must be one of the largest M and S stores in the UK - easy access and plenty of parking - very large food hall and nice restaurant - we ate there twice -. reasonable prices and good quality. Friendly, helpful staff

I enjoyed a tasty lunch at Marks and Spencer. The sandwiches were good quality freshly made and tasted delicious. The Earl Grey tea was freshly made and full of flavour

Great deli in this M&S superstore. Great food and friendly staff. I was just passing and popped in to grab a sandwich. Really nice selection of food.

The food and drink was fine. But no better than fine, and very over priced. But the staff made the impression. The woman who made us, and the man who brought our food exchanged no pleasantries and could not even muster a smile.

love the new bistro , been for beakfast lunch and dinner all at different days /times I might add , food first class staff friendly excelent and attentive, nothing better than shopping and stopping by for a snack and prosecco

Arranged to meet a friend for coffee at 11am on a Saturday morning - chose M&S, Culverhouse X, Deli Bar, as mid way for us and convenient for both shopping and parking.I notice that there has been less than positive reviews of the Deli Bar but I have to disagree.The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. (Delicious croissant & preserves)This is definitely the best pace for a decent cup of coffee - all other M&S cafés I've visited in the area should take note! I drink Nespresso at home and so most coffees out are found lacking - but not here in the Deli Bar at Culverhouse Cross - thank you!

I regularly meet my mother for coffee & cake or lunch at the cafe in M&S Culverhouse Cross, and have found every experience to be hit & miss. The cafe itself has recently been renovated, and is bright, roomy and cheerful. There is a reasonably sized menu with snacks, lunches and hot meals, aswell as a good variety of choice for children. There are many more tables available following the new re-fit, and this was well overdue, however when it is full to capacity (such as on busy weekends or certain times of the year) the staff seem to struggle. Despite how many customers are within the cafe (busy or quiet), our experiences have really differed. I once enquired about the afternoon tea that was advertised, and asked if we needed to book it - the lady behind the till told me there was no need to book, just to grab some sandwiches and they will put them onto a cake stand for us. This is not the 'afternoon tea' experience we are used to. Needless to say, we didn't bother - we thought we may aswell just order sandwiches and a cake ourselves. Sometimes the jacket potatoes are lovely, other times I have been served a lukewarm jacket potato with ice-cold tuna mayo. The soup is tasty, but we have been served cold soup, which was then reheated ASAP. The cakes are always great. Hot drinks are mediocre for the prices charged - with a McDonalds across the road serving better tea & coffee for a more reasonable price they really need to up their game here. The only staying factor for M&S is that their hot drinks are served in a ceramic cup and there aren't loads of excited kids running about. What I will say is that the cafe staff deal with complaints well and the have always been really helpful if there have been any problems at all with our food. The staff in general are really nice, and this is a huge saving grace. The quality of the food here really needs to be looked at so that it is of the same standard all of the time, because when the food is good here it is a really enjoyable experience.

we visited the deli bar at lunch time. The bar was quiet when we arrived but quickly picked up. The service was efficient and the staff friendly and chatty which we like.We chose the crab and avacado salad plus a bowl of chips. We enjoyed the meal but must say we found it difficult to find any crab.( plenty of large prawns ) Afterwards we had cappachino coffe and scones. The coffee here is one of the best I have tasted and the scone had lovely cream and jam. GREAT A GOOD EXPERIENCE ALL ROUND

I took my elderly mother here a couple of Saturdays ago. We had to queue for a little while which was fine, and gave us a chance to peruse the menu from the board outside. However when we got to the counter, we were told there were no fish and chips left. It was only 1 o'clock and I don't think anybody chooses fish and chips before midday, so I find it hard to believe they had run out. We then had to choose an alternative in a hurry, aware that we were holding up the queue. What we had was perfectly ok but we both felt we hadn't really chosen what we wanted under pressure. I asked why they couldn't cross off items which aren't available from the menu at the entrance but was told they weren't allowed to. (?) The funny thing is that there were no fish and chips at Leckwith M&S a few weeks before this occasion. It's a minor issue in the scheme of things I know, but come on M&S, you are sitting on a goldmine. You can do better than this.

Met a couple of friends here on my first visit. It will also be my last. We sat in the deli cafe which was cold and lacked atmosphere. I had no idea if it was table service or not, but realised you order at the large square counter. Staff not friendly. No choice in size of coffee cups. My Americano was OK, but I can make a better coffee at home. My friend had a croissant with jam, but I didn't want anything to eat. I'm tall, but always find high bar stools uncomfortable to perch on and I didn't enjoy the experience at all. M & S is resting on its laurels with both cafes at its Culverhouse Cross store. I met a friend in the other cafe a while ago and it was noisy, dirty and didn't seem to "flow" when ordering food and drinks at the counter. Before making my escape, I used one of the disabled toilets near the deli cafe. It was filthy. I will not be back.

Fairly poor selection especially for vegetarians.Cafe floor was absolutely disgusting, no excuse for such poor hygiene.

Two of us had a sharing platter and tea, service was good, not fast, food was enough for two. Staff pleasant and friendly.

Tried Saturday morning breakfast twice, once in the Deli cafe and once in cafe. On both occasions the service has been dreadful - cooked breakfast in the Deli was ok (but spoiled by really rude service and very, very slow messed up order), but the croissant was inedible in the other cafe. The coffee was terrible in both, and served in dirty cups, and uncleared tables. I think the problem here is the staff and management. We will not be trying it again in anything like the near future.

Four of us met up at culver house cross yesterday for tea for two . Walted in.queue not for very long...we told the waitress we were having tea for two and were told pick the sandwiches in fridge which was two rounds of bread cut into four for two people!! Queue for tea and take your scones..by the way no cream so you will have to have squirty cream(shocking) asked if the food hall had cream..answer no!!( no etiquette whatsoever . When we have had afternoon tea before it has all been brought to the table with more sandwiches and cream...floors filthy and staff scruffy...won't be going there again and certainly would not recommend . Better off going to the copthorne across the road who know how to serve afternoon tea with cream and clean surroundings..

Popped over in the evening to do a spot of shopping and decided to eat here. Choice is standard to all M and S cafes as far as I am aware. Their jacket potatoes were served reasonably quickly by a very pleasant and obliging waiter. They had, however, run out of the tuna filling which I was going to order with additional cheese. A shame but no cafe nowadays seems capable of opening a tin and adding some mayonnaise and it was late in the day and sale time! When we requested butter it was plentiful and served in little bowls and it really enhanced the flavour of my potato! ( Sorry to all dedicated slimmers!) Perfectly fine for a quick evening stop.

Went for a quick coffee at 'The Deli' cafe in M&S Culverhouse Cross. Service casual to say the least. Coffee OK but do I really want half a pint?On a wider note it is clear why M&S is on the decline, dreary looking clothing made with cheap, nasty man-made fibres in China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mynamar, Morocco, Georgia etc. etc. M&S USP was 'Made in UK' from quality materials. No more!

I come here with my daughter especially at Xmas. I buy her tree and she pays for breakfast. I can just about finish it.

I'm not quite sure what the issues are with the coffee shop. Some visits are perfectly ok, the coffee shop is clean, tidy; the staff are happy and helpful and it's an enjoyable place to take a break from shopping and refuel. Our most recent visit was more positive and perhaps due in part to the addition of ?Christmas staff youngsters who seem genuinely happy to help and do things with a smile (although in fairness there are some long term staff who are equally engaged in what they do). I really wish that the management team could get to the root of the problem and support the staff to get it right.

Visited with my son and husband for lunch. We all had jacket potatoes which came with a side salad and where really tasty. The lattes where hot and tasted good. The staff where very friendly and helpful will return .

The Deli food menu is very good with delicious food & well presented . The overall experience was very positive . Including the service from staff who were very helpful . The only drawback is the seating because the Deli is set up like a tapas bar with high stools situated around counter top. With only two tables to seat 4 people. It is not disability friendly & my 89 year old friend had great difficulty getting onto high stool . This is a major drawback for senior citizens with mobility problems .
