The Colcot Arms Hotel in Barry in The Vale of Glamorgan

One of the best places I’ve eaten at! Every dish was perfectly prepared, the portions were generous, and the staff made sure we had a fantastic experience.

Non starter,had family visiting with small children, decided to give, the Colcot Arms a go it was busy, ask if there was a table there was one with no reservations on it, the bar person said they would check but just left us standing there like lemons we left and went somewhere else

Very busy visit, the food was fine, the alcohol is quite expensive as well as soft drinks. Bit noisy but acceptable. Service quick and efficient.

This pub is an absolute gem! The food is incredible—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The staff are just as amazing, going above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and an all-around fantastic experience. Highly recommend!

I have to be fair the food at colcot is very good Now I came for a few beers with my mate and decided that I would take a take away home for my family but here is we’re it goes wrong , I can’t order a take away at the premises to take with me as they say as it’s chicken there is healthy and safety rules, they said that if I go on just eat I can order same food but has to be delivered buy just eat or another one of there contractors this puzzle me as what is the difference of me taking it to my house to eat or on of there delivery apps The other twist is there is a sign saying order here for your take away Maybe someone who is lot cleverer than me can help me work out this madness

Was really quiet in there was a Monday evening just after Christmas, we were visiting family so popped in as we love gavin and Stacey, bar staff friendly

Shame with this place because the food was actually quite good considering it was busy. We had a big table and they forgot my order.. went up to the kitchen to let them know and the lady said she deleted my order off by mistake and she’ll sort it off the bill at the end. There was no fish, no steak and only 2 chicken skewers!!!!? So basically a vegetarian pub? At the end of the meal I asked her about it and the manager turned around and walked off.. she’s the rudest person I’ve ever spoken to, told me I was only waiting 2 minutes when the whole table finished their food before mine got brought out.. calling a customer a lier etc is way out of order and having a manager that speaks to customers like that.. god help their staff learning thinking that’s the way to speak to the people keeping the doors open! Not impressed..

Cosy and charming. Lovely local pub

We opted for the pre-ordered Christmas menu. The starters and desserts were lovely, but we were disappointed to be told the day before the Christmas pie was sold out and we had to reselect. We opted for the Christmas Dinner. It was nice enough, but I think we would have enjoyed the pies more. Having said that, the set menu was excellent value for money, the pub was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and the staff, as usual, were attentive and friendly. We like visiting the Colcot Arms and will definitely be back again.

Friendly staff, delicious food and great value for money.

Didn't have food but the food going out from the kitchen looked and smelled gorgeous. Only downside was a table next to us said it took over an hour for food to arrive. Service was slow but incredibly busy and friendly staff made this feel great. We attended on an evening where a band was playing and the atmosphere was simply infectious. Smiles, laughing, dancing and singing along made it a fantastic evening. Table service for our drinks was efficient and fair priced. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Visited on Saturday evening for family celebration the food was great cooked well and served in a reasonable time, the service was friendly, thank you guys for a good night

Good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. The food wasn't the best sizzler I've had but not entirely the worst neither. Took a while to come out. The fish and chips was the best out of the meals we had.

i eat at the colcot arms regulary it is amazing food and amazing staff i know them all so well as i have been going there for years nothing is too much trouble the prices are great and i can actually eat the food where i cannot anywhere else love it and i will be back p there next week

Always pop in now because my son enjoys the menu and variety of the food. The bar staff were friendly and polite. I had the tandoori chicken. I'm not a lover of mixed veg on a skillet but have to say it was really nice. My son had the buttermilk chicken burger and he's fussy said it to was lovely. Will be back.

Steak was absolutely spot on melt in your mouth. Despite being busy the staff were excellent.

They ran out of beer, only had cider, lager and Guinness. This was 2 30 pm. How is this even possible? Where was my ipa? Not good.

We visited on Saturday 14th September for the first time.. very busy.. but the bar couldn’t cope and took for ages to get served.. hospitality!!!! .. didn’t see it… food cold .. manager extremely rude to fellow customers.. reminded me of Mrs Trunchball!! .. I’m sure this could be improved 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good sized car park and nice garden with outside eating huts. On entering, the inside is also tired and in need of attention. We had a nice quiet table reserved. The only downside being that it was in desperate need of a clean. It was sticky as were the menues and cutlery holder. There were no serviettes, no salt and an empty sauce bottle. The staff were polite and the meals arrived quickly. The food was lovely no complaints there. But we were never asked if everything was OK or if we'd like to order desserts etc.

All round a pleasant place and meal was good

Food took over 1 hrs to arrive both mixed grills were nothing like the one in the advert. The sausages and chips were hard the other meat had obviously been cooked and put under a warm it was very dry. The desert was also disappointing.

The food was to be fair. I think the pub is in need of more staff. I felt sorry for the limited amount of staff. The toilets are in dire need of umdating not one lock works. The windows need replacing as the wood is rotten . But apart from the above we will continue to use the pub.

Cracking place for food and drink

Having ordered the mega mixed grill on arrival 25 minutes later it was put together like a 3 year old and I noticed some items were missing when I asked the lady at bar she said we’ve run out of mushrooms and tomatoes so why wasn’t I advised at the till chicken like cardboard i will never go there again worst meal ever

Had a great experience at the Colcot Arms!! Chef Callum smashed it. Wish I could have brought some food home for my dog, Trev, but I had to see it all off, sorry Trev. Dogs gutted now. I'll be coming back that's for sure. Grabbed a 4 pack of John Smiths on the way home to top it all off, happy days.

We booked 2 days previously for 14 people, email came with confirmation, attended on the booked date at 18.45 8 adults, 6 children, ( all hungry) gave my details to the staff, to be told my booking was not being honoured and we would not be able to eat there, no explanation, their attitude was appalling, they did not give a hoot, just stood with her hands on her hips not concerned at all we were 14 people expecting to have a family evening, we left total embarrassed,humiliated there were other people in the bar who basically witnessed a very rude staff member telling us we would not be getting served, I have complained but their response was effortless, sizzling pubs total disappointment will never enter 1 again

Recently went to the Colcot with a large group. Great food at great prices. Cocktails are lovely! Fantastic atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Would highly recommend as a great place to eat or drink.

Hats off to Chef Callum and the team, thoroughly enjoyed the Laying it on Chick burger, blew my socks off! Kids menu is great value, my boy scoffed all of his chicken dippers in seconds!

Lovely family friendly venue, great atmosphere in the beer garden when the sun is out! Thanks Chef Callum for a fantastic family meal once again. High recommend the lasagne!

First time at this pub and it was a great experience. I was served by a lovely women called Sam and she was most helpful always had a smile on her face. My food was outstanding steak cooked to perfection and my beer was like it came from a fresh cleaned line I will be back not just to be served by sam but to enjoy another pint and meal

First time to this pub as I was passing and fancied some food and a pint. I was served by a wonderful woman called Sam very friendly and didn’t once see the smile go off her face I can see she enjoys her job. I’d have her working in my pub in a shot! My food was 10/10 steak cooked to perfection (I’m fussy with my steak) larger tasted 10/10 staff are 10/10 I will be back not just for Sam but this pub is great. Hats off to the owner

Can't beat the Colcot🙌. Went there yesterday and impressed by the staff and dog-friendly atmosphere. Our springer Etien is quite lively but was on his best behaviour thanks to front of house. I wanted to finish my steak but it was so big i couldn't - another bonus for Etien! Compliments to the the chef - Calum? The Colcot has a great menu, great team and great vibe. Well-deserved 5 stars.

Called in (again!) for food with parents on Saturday. Staff always friendly and helpful, food is great (love the new topped chips!), good selection of drinks and everything is reasonably priced. Nothing to complain about, really! My dad's fave tipple wasn't available that day, but he was happy with an alternative they did have. My mum had a burger and it was way too much for her, but she loved it. I had a greek wrap thing (?) which was lovely. Call in here quite often, never disappointed!

Had to visit Smithy's local that appears in "Gavin & Stacey". We didn't go in so can't really comment on the service, atmosphere or food. Shame, but we were pushed for time as we also planned to visit Gwen's home,Mick & Pam's home, Bryns house & Nessas slots on the seafront. Fun couple of hours. Not the greatest of places, the staff have no customer care, can't tell you that they have run out of garlic bread and put chips on your plate instead without explanation. No sauces, not enough staff behind the bar when busy and they all look fed up and over worked.

Came here for dinner , it was very busy and also very hot day food was excellent we sat at table 10 .Hubby had steak I had steak and chicken .Been here quite a few times now value for money and staff always friendly .Thankyou to the chef not a easy job in this heat.

Unfortunately my food came out burnt. I had to send it back and get a refund. Very disappointing as it was my birthday. The place seemed short staffed I felt sorry for the waitress. The prawn starter was lovely though.

Had a family meal in the beer garden & there quite a few of us. Food was very good, price was good with lots of diffrent deals on (children eat for £1 with paying adult meal) Atmosphere was enjoyable & the staff were very friendly. Hope they keep this chef
