Cherry Orchard in The Vale of Glamorgan

Ok 12 of us Christmas dinner , we had been sat down 20 minutes late, crammed into a spot suitable for 10 , tables all uneven so plates rocking , climbing over each other ( whilst people of 6 sat in luxury with space for 12 ) … food , ok food mmmmm where to start , starter was ok , but the dinners all came out maybe all 12 served in 10 minutes , some plates missing parsnips , roasties , some veg … mentioned to waitress , some things that looked like potatoes but looked like they hadn’t seen the sun never mind an oven , by this time most of the food was either tepid or eaten, so now we have a bowl of microwaved parsnip some roasties .. I don’t like to complain and to be honest it was busy but *no excuse for not serving as advertised! Ok , waitress then gets manager , he comes over and gives it “ I have on good authority that all meals left kitchen complete !” , complete sh*t YES , complete as advertised NO . Then delayed so we couldn’t have a round of drinks and as a good well gesture offered to delete the £22 charge for the bowl of cold sh*t !NEWSFLASH , we had paid upfront ! @£58 a head , I wouldn’t eat there again if it was free with AI lager . I have drafted an email to head office and I’ll strongly be blasting the lack of toilet facilities, the state of both male / female toilets / the poor food / poor management/ poor presentation/ poor microwave…. If the waitress hadn’t of tried to resolve in the professional manner she used ( kudos ) it would’ve been a different story and uproar would’ve resulted . In closing the food was poor at best , the drinks and bar service ok , waitress good as gold , manager a total slice , pub itself is run down and in desperate need of modernising and deep cleaning . * footnote , eating my poor food and listening to a drinker not in our party telling stories of his sexual conquest and fights wasn’t the angelic picture of Christmas. *footnote 2 , if you ever have to pay upfront you are more than likely to have a poor meal anywhere ! But I’d have rather of been anywhere other than there . SH*T

Christmas dinner was really poor. My 5 year old daughter was served a bigger plate of food than a couple of the adults in our party of 9. There was items missing from some of our plates. The food was served cold. mh relative was served the wrong starter. We were given a tablespoon of cranberry sauce and even though it came served on my husbands plate in a ramekin and put infront of him, we were then told that it was for the whole table to share. There were no prawns in the salmon and prawn en croute and the mash was dry and sticky. One persons cherry bomb came with a frozen filling, when another persons filling was more like room temperature mousse. Waitress dropped dirty cutlery and food tipped on my husbands trousers. The entire ladies toilets was closed off and out of order (on Christmas day!!!), 9 months ago on my last visit the walls, the sinks, the floor was dirty. There was even dried sick streaks on the back of the toilet lid which my child pointed out. 😕 So looks like they are in the same/similar state. There was a disabled toilet but you had to ask a bar worker to open it. I questioned a member of staff about the toilets and she said that she can go and check if theyre in a better state than this morning if I liked. I said ok and then she disappeared leaving us standing there waiting for no reason. There was not enough staff working on the bar and we had a long wait for drinks (and the disabled toilet key), which made the food go even colder. We were really disappointed as we paid £470 between us and the only good thing about our Christmas dinner was the fact that we were together as a family.

This was a booking for 14 (2nd year for my group). I took great pains to make it as easy as possible by supplying the menu broken down into starters, mains, extras & desserts. Unfortunately you missed one whole meal, 2 had to be returned as they were poorly cooked and quite a few were lukewarm. The restaurant wasn’t busy so there was no real excuse. We’re looking for another venue next year.

Nice pub, could do with a spruce up. Portion sizes small.

Pleasant efficient staff. Extremely expensive non alcoholic drinks with two bottles of Stella 0.0 amounting to £9.30 for just over a pint. Not inclusive or good for the hospitality sector. This is nearly a 7 times mark up on the £1.50 retail price. Marstons claim this to be competitive, but Cedar Tree Farm has Heineken 0.0 on draught for £4.65

The staff were really friendly throughout the experience, the food was a good quality and we did not have to wait long for our food. Atmosphere is only 3 stars due to it being quiet

Was here after the fireworks yesterday Saturday the 2nd of November, was told they wasn’t serving food, they then ID my girl friend who is 24 years of age, but then a young lad who was about 13 approached us saying inappropriate stuff to my girlfriend and my family and seemed absolutely blotto, he’s lucky he didn’t have a slap, he was still walking around there when he left it seemed like he was disturbing other people there also but nothing was said to him he was definitely under the age of 15 as my brother thinks he was in his kids year who is 13.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff. Reasonably priced food. I ordered a pizza and was very impressed by the quality and quantity of food served. The pizza was absolutely delicious. As I was unable to eat it all I was given a box to take the pizza home in

For starters our food was chucked at us by the waitresss she didn’t ask if we needed anything else or anything she just looked bored, I took a bite out of the battered mushroom and it was frozen in the middle, my mother had nachos and they were soggy. We will not be coming here again as this is the 4th time we’ve had an awful experience.

Bar maid was friendly. waitress threw food on table, breaded mushrooms frozen in middle, nachos covered too much and soggy, in fact it’s the worst food I have had in my life I won’t be returning!

Very friendly staff! Always accomodating to families. Reasonably priced. There have been occasions where food has taken a while but staff have always made us aware before ordering or apologetic! Happy to come here often!

Amazing service by Kim, amazing food and great company

Terrible overpriced lukewarm food, waiting over an hour for meals, staff even though sweet had no idea what was going on, no attempt to reassure us it was on its way, when confronted the waiter said aw, uh I'll go tell them now and then continued to run out multiple tables that ordered after us.

Food was ok nice and hot and fresh but the beef burgers were a but dry. Also not a fan of fries much prefer their chips

Staff friendly enough and the pub itself has a decent atmosphere, however ordered my food through the app 10-mins before other parties on my table ordered theirs at the the actual bar. Drink arrived pretty much straight away so clearly the app worked well, however both the other parties food came out before mine and both plates were cleared before mine even arrived. When in theory it really should have been the other way around. Also Friend ordered a steak medium rare, however it came out grey, not a single bit of pink in it. Poor work by chefs and/or service staff.

Such a warm welcome from staff when I got there, couldn't be more helpful Sam the manager was really chatty and nice and made our visit more enjoyable will defo be back again

I said I would be back and I’m so glad I did. There was a live band the night I visited. Staff were incredibly friendly, and provided a service with a smile. They remembered me from a previous visit which was a few weeks ago which is a lovely touch.

The food was delicious, had a really good time, and we will definitely eat there again. The toilets we're really clean. The service was amazing,the young lady named Kim, was very polite, friendly, did her job very well. I do think that the service from Kim, is a big factor of myself and my family returning to The Cherry Orchard.

From First step until last it was nothing but brilliant! Me and my family entered and were served quickly to a table and service. Which was handy as we have kids. Once ordered we was looked after very well by I believe her name was “Sam” *apologise if that’s incorrect*… the food was absolutely amazing!!! All clean plates, will for sure deffiently be returning with the family! Hats of to the chef, Chefs manager, general manger and the way the place is run! Thank you for a great experience! All the little things you done made a huge difference to our dining experience!

Really nice place. Clean, well maintained and friendly staff. Food was great, not much of a wait once ordered. Alcohol is a little expensive for a pub. £4.50 for a pint of Carling up to £6.50 for premium brands. I think they lean more into the eating than drinking, but plenty of options for both. I ordered steak, Sirloin, blue... Nice cut, not a bad price considering the prices lately. Would go again and a nice place to treat a family member. I know pints are expensive now, but c'mon, play the game a bit.

Had a lovely family meal here the staff were absolutely amazing sam the manager made sure we had everything we needed she was lovely and chatty and that’s what every place needs:) the food was lovely my kids enjoyed their food and had stuff to do there. I 100% recommend this place you won’t regret it!!!

The barmaid behind the bar Alex i thinks its name was is very rude. After waiting for her to serve me after she had been playing with her nails and rubbing her unibrow she then spoke to me with no manners whatsoever. She just gave the impression she didnt want to be here and very fed up!

Unfortunately they were short staffed so the order took a while. On arrival the food was cold the fries overcooked and very crunchy. We had to go and ask where our drinks were as submitted order 7.50 and still nothing at 8.25. Wouldn't recommend

I met up with 3 friends to enjoy the food, drink and quiz. We all had a great time, the food arrived promptly and was delicious, the drinks were reasonably priced and the quiz was great fun!! Thanks Cherry Orchard, see you in a couple of weeks!

Had a nice chilled afternoon with some friends. It was relaxing.

First time coming was alittle buzzing ordered food but some first choices where not possible, then the bitter was off and had to wait to get replaced. Then it's advertised 2 cocktails £11.00 but tried to say it was from this price but doesn't say 'from, waited nearly 20 mins for them to be served. Meals came out after nearly an hour wait, the sausage and mash with Caramelised red onion was raw chopped onion, the tikka curry was microwaved so much so it the chicken could bounce and take someone's eye out. Whilst waiting for cocktails and food staff stood behind the bar at least 4 of them, chatting together. The pub itself is a nice setting but poor service and food, this was our experience.

You don’t sell any of the coke ranges. I’m not a lover of Pepsi. You are missing out on a lot of customers. I live across the road from the Cherry Orchard along with several of my friends. I would love to have you as my local but I don’t enjoy my vodka with Pepsi. It’s important for me to have a drink that I enjoy and not drink what’s only available. There is a group of us locally that think the same. They don’t use your pub/restaurant for same reasons. Your app is not updated when things go out of stock. I ordered and paid for two desserts using the app, to then be told one of them is out of stock. I was told that I need to pay for my dessert again and be refunded for my first choice, which would take 3 days to be refunded. The app is clearly not working when things go out of stock. I hope this is constructive criticism and not coming across negative. Please, please, bring in the coke ranges, so that I can have you as my local. I’ve noticed that the clubs/pubs/restaurants that do provide both options Pepsi and Coke are always busy and thriving. Some light background music might help with the atmosphere. Hope this helps.

The food was very poorly served. 1 meal out of 6 was served and we had to complain to the management so that the other 5 meals were serve together. The decor makes the premises look like a public toilet with black & white tiles etc. Very poor atmosphere. The only good thing was the free parking.

We had a wake yesterday and this is based on the buffet they provided. Cost is £500 for sausage rolls which were hard, crisps and cheese, ham sandwiches pickled onions and pork pies which tasted happy value. No refilling table we could of got all that for under £30 very disappointed in food.

We come every Thursday for the pub quiz and always have the friendliest interactions with the staff. Madison smashes the quiz every time! We were gutted when she went away to travel so we’re extra happy that she’s back (please don’t let her leave again).

Thursday night pub quiz is great, Maddison is a fantastic MC - always a delight! Definitely recommend.

Ordered soup of the day and garlic mushrooms, leek soup was a bit weak and wasn't hot Bread was dry I sent it back. Staff friendly though, but won't be going back

I had the pleasure of being served by a handsome young man with dark hair and glasses. He was very polite, pleasant, and made me feel welcome in the pub. He was well versed in the specials menu, I took his advice and very much enjoyed my juicy burger. It was reasonably priced, and the environment was inviting. Being able to watch the football with my meal was an added bonus.

Very easy to book, staff are great, food is good. We visit quite often and have a great experience every time (or we wouldn't come back). The ability to tip on our debit card would be great as we don't carry cash.

A bit run down. Mens toilets were disgusting but the women's were clean.

Absolutely recommend 100% have not been here in years. Heard few bad reports but since coming here today (3 adults - myself, hubby and dad) will definitely be back. Service was brilliant, food was great and they all worked as a team. The lady behind the bar I got talking to had only taken over last few weeks and it was busy which was great to see. Just found this great place to eat. The waitress taking the order was so cool. I told her my go to was a great burger. She said the burgers were lush. So I had the Cowboy Burger, which was juicy and full of flavour. Th onion rings were nice and crispy. The wife had Hunters chicken. My wife enjoyed her chicken, which was moist and not dry. I was glad I took the waitress at her recommendation and was not disappointed. Think her name was Millie. Great front of house person to have. Proffesional and funny at the same time. Made me and the wife really comfortable. Will come again soon

Visited the other day for a family meal. Was lovely. The food was reasonably priced and tasted really good. I was served by a girl at the bar, I believe she said her name was Madison, and she was very friendly and helped me with my enquiries about my grandma’s meal. I would highly recommend.

The atmosphere of the pub was very welcoming, the staff behind the bar were so engaging with myself and the other customers. The pub is dog friendly, even with a treat jar at the end of the bar for my little lady. Food was enjoyable and served in a timely manner. I’ll definitely be coming back

Twenty-six members of Cornwall MG Owners visited South Wales for our 'Big Wig-End Away' - all dressed in colourful fancy dress wigs! Causing a lot of amusement to the local patrons.

Zero respect for their neighbours!! They have the bottle bins emptied at 4.30 in the morning the noise is so loud it wakes us all up including small children! Every week this takes place at the same time. This cant be legal surely?? Respect your neighbours and arrange to have your bins emptied at a normal time. Absolute joke
