We came today for a Birthday Meal, a group of 7 of us. The food was lovely and came out fresh and hot. The staff were lovely and efficient doing their jobs. Thank you for the great service.

Thursday night pub quiz is great, Maddison is a fantastic MC - always a delight! Definitely recommend.

We come every Thursday for the pub quiz and always have the friendliest interactions with the staff. Madison smashes the quiz every time! We were gutted when she went away to travel so we’re extra happy that she’s back (please don’t let her leave again).

Ordered soup of the day and garlic mushrooms, leek soup was a bit weak and wasn't hot Bread was dry I sent it back. Staff friendly though, but won't be going back

Very easy to book, staff are great, food is good. We visit quite often and have a great experience every time (or we wouldn't come back). The ability to tip on our debit card would be great as we don't carry cash.

Absolutely recommend 100% have not been here in years. Heard few bad reports but since coming here today (3 adults - myself, hubby and dad) will definitely be back. Service was brilliant, food was great and they all worked as a team. The lady behind the bar I got talking to had only taken over last few weeks and it was busy which was great to see. Just found this great place to eat. The waitress taking the order was so cool. I told her my go to was a great burger. She said the burgers were lush. So I had the Cowboy Burger, which was juicy and full of flavour. Th onion rings were nice and crispy. The wife had Hunters chicken. My wife enjoyed her chicken, which was moist and not dry. I was glad I took the waitress at her recommendation and was not disappointed. Think her name was Millie. Great front of house person to have. Proffesional and funny at the same time. Made me and the wife really comfortable. Will come again soon

We recently visited the Cherry Orchard for a meal and it was an excellent experience! We were served by Millie, who was really attentive and added to the overall experience. The food was delicious and the prices were really reasonable - making it a great value for money! Highly recommended!

Don’t often write reviews but I do have to say what a wonderful member of staff Millie is! She’s a credit to the business! She couldn’t do enough for us and will definitely be back again as she made our visit so much more welcoming!! food spot on 2!!!! Can’t fault anything about my visit!!

The atmosphere of the pub was very welcoming, the staff behind the bar were so engaging with myself and the other customers. The pub is dog friendly, even with a treat jar at the end of the bar for my little lady. Food was enjoyable and served in a timely manner. I’ll definitely be coming back

Twenty-six members of Cornwall MG Owners visited South Wales for our 'Big Wig-End Away' - all dressed in colourful fancy dress wigs! Causing a lot of amusement to the local patrons.

Zero respect for their neighbours!! They have the bottle bins emptied at 4.30 in the morning the noise is so loud it wakes us all up including small children! Every week this takes place at the same time. This cant be legal surely?? Respect your neighbours and arrange to have your bins emptied at a normal time. Absolute joke

Reason for visit was my daughters birthday a table of 9, told when we ordered food that there was a wait which we really appreciated, Curtis I believe his was name worked extremely well under pressure, well done! Only disappointing part was the kebab meal as there was hardly any meat in it but it was so busy it wasn’t worth a complaint

We had a large family gathering, and the staff were very accommodating. Alex was especially helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

Told by the bar staff at little past 10pm on a Friday night that they've closed the tills and no longer want to serve people. No wonder it was deserted if that's the attitude the staff have!

Decent Marstons pub in Barry. The pub has a large car park. Inside is fairly big with lots of TV's showing sport. The food I ordered was fine and reasonably priced. There is a large outdoor eating and drinking space.

Prices are so high it's making everyone stay away, won't be going back.

For every visit we have been to cherry orchard in the last few months we have always found it the same, food is nice I will say however portion size is so small for the price, my 7 year old had a kids meal as he does everywhere we visit but the size I find is not ideal atall. Minus that every time we visit there is only ever 1 person on the bar to take food and drinks orders we always find ourself waiting In a lengthy queue for service I understand this is no fault of the bar servers but there should be other staff available to help, Unfortunately this seems to be every occasion not just a 1 off so now we always associate the place with long queue time and long food delays even when the pub isn't overly busy. This service let's the pub down massively.

Ordered from lunch menu. Service was extremely slow considering it was a bank holiday weekend. One waiter was rude. Stated couldn’t make the club sandwiches as no baguettes until mentioned it’s bread not baguette and took 3 times to clarify. When food came it was nice but half way through I tasted something odd and pulled out a ball of hair with lint on it. I immediately felt sick. One waiter ignored us so my husband went to the bar. We were given a refund just for my meal but my husband had same meal and also couldn’t eat his anymore. It was overall just disappointing and obviously felt horrified I’d had hair in my food.

A big thankyou to the staff at The Cherry Orchard. Today we took my mum for lunch there. It is the first time in a year she has been able to go out due to illness. The staff were very understanding that we were new to pushing a wheelchair and that we were going to take ages because of her needs. The food was excellent. So good that my mum ate my dessert as well as her own. We will be visiting again soon.

Won’t be going there again 🍽️🥂 wonderful service and bar service but the food was cold and bland and only 2 small pieces of chicken which were and chewy and greasy on a kabab and which was nothing like the description on the menu. And £8.25 for a glass of wine 🍷

We were a family of 3 and dropped in after being caught out later than expected. The service here was absolutely amazing, everyone was so helpful and the food was gorgeous. It was so clean and tidy too from the moment you stepped onto the premises. Things like this really make your experience more enjoyable and we will definitely be coming back and telling family and friends.

I took my family there for lunch yesterday .My friend and me had the hunters chicken ,the chicken was the size of a sparrow no bacon or cheese on top .Very disappointing will never go there again.

Popped in for a pint after shopping at 5.45pm on 16th April. The bar was busy with funeral guests so I waited patiently. When it was my turn 2 regulars arrived separately at the bar(the lady new what they were drinking before they asked) and in turn both got served before me. I left the pub and will never return. Its not just a pint the pub have lost as we used to use the pub for family meals. Well that won't be happening again.

Came back recently after a bad experience with the previous manager. Heard there's a new boss lady and fair play she's brilliant! The building is cleaner, service is sharper and the atmosphere just feels better. Great to see positive change happening to this lovely pub, I'll definitely be back soon.

Excellent mixed grill. Cooked well and served quickly. Nice menu but lacked some variety compered to similar pubs. Would definitely go again Recommended.

We came in with friends and their 9 year old daughter. We are locals and would like this pub to improve so we can enjoy visiting again! Our meal was extremely disappointing: My chicken burger was dry with no salad despite the menu saying iceberg lettuce, and no burger sauce. When the meal was sent back my sweet potato fries went cold and not warmed up. It came back out with some mixed salad on (still not what was advertised) The pizza had a small hair on, a member staff came back with the same pizza and told us the chef said it wasn’t a hair it was cheese! We pointed it out and they made a fresh one. Halloumi fries had no piri dip and when we pointed that out they came with a jug of salsa. The two cowboy burgers had no lettuce on and a tiny bit of bacon and no burger sauce I would like to praise and thank Maz who provided wonderful customer service throughout our visit and couldn’t do enough to make things better. She was extremely apologetic and spent time chatting to our friend’s daughter whose pizza had to be remade offering a free desert and brought her a free lemonade. Maz is always polite and friendly, a credit to your staff! We asked for her name so we could let you know. I would like to say that the decor is the pub is getting really tatty, there is a big hole in the wall by the pool table. A panel under the urial's is missing, the window ledges have chewing gum stuck to them and covered in thick mould. I’m sorry I’ve felt the need to complain but we’ve always liked it here, it’s very handy for us and it’s a shame to see it going downhill.

The fish and chips was very disappointing, the batter was greasy, the fries were awful as they were so thin. I've never had fries at a Marston before, as always been chips. The food wasn't that hot and it was very noisy where we were sat as there was a big party of people and music playing at same time. I kmow that can't be helped, but the over all experience wasnt great. The man that served us was polite and nice to be fair Not sure I would visit in a long time again which is a shame

Curtis who brought our food out to us was clearly busy dealing with a pub full of customers but still made time to help look after us making sure we had all the colouring in thing we needed to keep a child entertained and help us parents make the most of our evening. My wife and I both had burgers which where great, the fries where a little dry but still very tasty. The Boy had fish fingers and chips and as expected just ate the chips. We had a lovely evening but the thing that really made the difference was the kindness and consideration of Caitlin and Curtis thank you both very much.

I live local to the cherry orchard and regularly visit the pub. My visit was really good because I had an issue with the QR code to order, so I done it a second time and it did not add my children’s food, the man who bought the food out did question which was nice and I went up to order, he stopped me and ask what it is so he can do it now. So I said, he went off to cook and I put the order in, that made it far quicker! What a guy! He deserves some proper good feedback and recognition (it was a bold muscly guy if that helps) the only issue was the match was on and it was loud, but that is normal game day and understandable. The staff have always been super helpful and nice, the bar staff as well super helpful! Honestly! The pub is really top notch and my local favourite place to take my wife. We enjoy it that much, my wife is German and her mum is German and we took her there, she is coming over next month and asked to go there. So it’s continental haha. Super supportive and helpful staff, great service and polite and friendly.

Today was mother's day so my family took me out for food, I was disgusted we waited 2 hours for our food which wasn't even warm,and when my husband asked staff we was just told it will be out soon we are very busy and behind, I normally book on a regular basis but I can honestly say I will not be returning

Booked a table for my wife's birthday at 1.30pm. There were 10 family members in our party, including two little ones. Ordered our food around 10 minutes after arrival and was concerned at the long time it was taking to arrive. By 3.15pm and no sign of our order, on enquiry it was established that our meals hadn't even started to be prepared. Managed to get a full refund and promptly walked away in disgust. No compensation for the drinks we had paid for in the meantime though? Definitely a place to avoid.

1 word..... SH*TE.. From start to finish an absolute shambles.. Starters arrived cold.. Half the table was served half an hour earlier than the rest.. Food arrived with half the ingredients missing.. Food was cold.. Do you send it back ? After a half hour wait.. Extremely disappointed.. Infact Extremely Extremely disappointed...... Don't bother .. better eating experience at McDonald's.. And that's saying something...

We booked a table last night for four people, Friends travelled from Cardiff for a catch up, when we arrived we were told that weren't any available tables as our booking hadn't gone through due to a systems problem. Just because your booking has been confirmed don't presume that you will have a table !!! Turned out for the best, had a wonderful meal at the pub around the corner !!

On arrival, we were told there was a 30-minute wait for food as a large table had walked in. 40 minutes later, we were told with a smile. No, I said 40 minutes. Unfortunately, the kitchen is behind to a large walk-in. How would the cope if it was actually busy?!?! We were then served with this, I've had bigger chicken strips at KFC. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

The restaurant was mid-range busy, but there was no one around to seat us initially, eventually we caught the attention of a waitress, possibly because i was sat in my wheelchair looking lost. She eventually located our reserved table (in the family area, right next to a table of incredibly noisy adults and children). My wife waited an eternity at the bar as most of the staff appeared to be chatting. We waited over 30 mins for our food and when it came it was not pleasing. The portions of chips were miniscule, the mushy peas and onion rings were cold, the steak looked like it had been run over, the steak meal was missing grilled tomato and mushrooms and my kebab had three average sized pieces of chicken in it. We asked about the missing tomato and it arrived just before the end of the meal. We hesitatingly ordered desserts and the rocky road sundae was dumped in a bowl and whilst that and the banoffee pie was eaten my father in law waited for his apple crumble, I asked about it and it finally arrived as everyone else finished. In general the food tasted ok, but the service was appalling and I couldn't sit properly at the table because my wheelchair wouldn't fit (I mentioned I was a wheelchair user in my original booking).

Lovely little spot for cheap pub grub. Quick service. Nice food. Nice little beer garden back and front. Family room.

We only booked because I was sent a discount code. The last time we ate there, my husbands steak was inedible. This time the food was actually much better. Although my 5 year old daughter did ask me why the toilet area was dirty. And yes it did need a good clean. The walls, the sinks, the floor. Even there was dried sick streaks on the back of the toilet lid. 😕

Excellent service from a lady called Maz today. We were visiting to celebrate my brother's birthday. Nothing was too much trouble, it was refreshing to be served by someone with a 'can do' attitude and is happy in her work, thank you. The vegetable Thai curry was very tasty too and the meal was good value.

Very disappointed Used to be good. Food took an hour. Wasn't made aware there was a wait. Then to find out, it was overcooked, burned and drier than the Gobi desert. Signs up to say, Book for Mother's Day. Definitely won't be doing that, I like my mother. And the woman with Septum piercing, that served us, was so miserable, I came home and called Samaritans.

Main course could have been hotter. Ran out of mixed gril??? Ran out of custard. There is a shop across the road. Desert took ages to come. And then the Karaoke started ☹️

Had a great night at last Saturdays Karaoke night, lots of fun! Loved seeing kids singing and rapping, having a great time with their family. Great atmosphere and cocktails were delicious. Shout out to Caitlyn and the rest of the team. Well done. Looking forward to the next one.
