Amazing food great service and kids had fun in the beer garden

The food, service and atmosphere were great. We came around midday for a brunch(ish) meal. We ended up having a lamb kofta flatbread and a lamb keema stack respectively and both were way above what you’d expect from a pub for the quality and sizing. The seating areas are lovely and even at midday it was still very lively inside with families. I can easily recommend coming here.

Lovely day so sat outside as a family for lunch and a drink. Very clean, well presented ground with big, roomy tables. Service was by app and very quick considering how busy the place was. Food and drinks selection was great with everything available. All meals delicious and very reasonably priced. Beers were a little pricey but again perfectly kept and chilled and served quickly. Great reception and service, will be back again.

Absolutely brilliant venue, made to feel very welcome, atmosphere is calm and relaxed, food is great and the staff are wonderful. Chloe and the team gave us great service, friendly and smiling.

This was my first visit here and had the steak and Ruddle ale pie. It was amazing! Best pie ever! Great friendly service and an ideal venue for family. Will definitely be back. Thank you :)

We've had a brilliant lunch. We used our blue light discount and Tesco vouchers without any issue. Staff were all super helpful especially keenan who was able to point in the right direction when I made an enquiry. Good was delicious and plentiful. It was excellent value for money. I think it's safe to say we all left very well fed.

Beautiful food. Tried the cheeseburger chilli dipper for the first time and it was so tasty! Table cleared really quickly by Keanan. Such a nice guy, really friendly and lovely to our family.

Party of 7. 2 kids included. Overall good time. Server keenan was polite, not sure who took the order. My only bit of feedback is, maybe wait before serving dessert, as my daughter was still eating. Would recommend however. Prices are respectable and Fridays are excellent for BOGOF on burgers. Will return in the future..

A Dissapointed trip, Our table was taken by someone else so we were put on another one which was too small, the drinks were fine. My child ordered a jacket potato 😳 £4.99 for the world's smallest potato, I could have bought a bag and had a decent size. My daughter is autistic and this didn't go down well. My burger was awful, burnt flooded in sauce and with a tiny blob of salad and onions. The chips were old and dry the sausage meat was pouring with grease the bun was stale. My partners burger was also burnt and all thrown together. We ended up skipping dessert and taking my children else where. Such a shame as it's not very often we go out as a family for dinner, it just caused more stress on us. My children also got bullied from the moment they stepped foot in the park, honestly what is wrong with this world.

Food was absolutely disgusting. Wife had the sliders and not one of them was actually made, the bread was put on the plate and the chicken fingers and burgers were just thrown on there like nachos. I had the a new menu item a burger with chilli beef and cheese and it was sloppy tasted horrible and my fries looked 2 days old. Had a horrible stomach all night thats why im leaving the review. I will never step foot in this place again.

It has definitely gone down, food is not as good . Everything needs updating.

Absolutely shocking here! Staff over worked/stressed/rushed. Tables dirty, stale bits of food, crumbs. The worst food I’ve ate in a long time. Poor quality, cold, soggy, it seemed warmed up not fresh thrown on the plate with no presentation. Atmosphere, It was a free for all with children running around playing tag, climbing over balcony area, screaming and shouting and allowed to do this by parents and staff. There was no control or rules. Other members of the public were tutting and horrified by the running of the place and got up and left. This seems normal as visited here about 2 months previous where it was exactly the same. I believe in 2nd chances to try again but Note to oneself NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN! Stay clear everyone, you will spend alot of money for a very bad experience and a ruined afternoon.

Today we were served by Kanan, he was absolutely amazing! Couldnt asked for a better service, very friendly and extremely kind, such a good laugh. The food was amazing aswell! I will definitely come back and would like to be served by him again. Thank you ALOT X

Nice fish and chips! Sat outside. Very busy late Friday afternoon in July. Took some time to order but got served and ate within an hour. Better than we expected for the hottest day of the year and everyone out for the start of the summer holidays. Staff were working hard to keep everything moving.

Pub needs some TLC, been around for over 24 years. Saw one lamp held together by sellotape. Pub sign missing letters and Hungry Horse says Hungry Hore. Pub definitely needs some attention. Staff were good however.

Food was fine but cost about twice what it would at Wetherspoons (and the Scampi side was about half the amount). It also took about three times longer to arrive than it normally does at 'spoons (admittedly I went to HH at a busier time). I can see why the Horse got Hungry!

Don't be fooled this is just a regular low quality hungry horse that serves microwave fodder, and the vegan options are all imitation meat products, impossible garbage etc, waste of money waste of time, would not feed this stuff to a dog. Had to spit out a mouthful half way though and my parents took the rest of my meal to feed to their dog - I said I would not feed it to a dog, my parents clearly would. 😏 Nice venue though, would go there for drinks maybe, but then I don't really drink. How about a normal vegan option, with just vegetables? Ever thought of that? 🤯

Sorry - not for me - tried it because W'spoons had shut but not a patch on the Bears Head!! Food cold (i had a 'sizzler' and even the iron plate was cold!!) steak tough and all round not a good experience. We did visit on a Monday a'noon and I do realise that perhaps not the best staff on at that time but will not be going back - sorry.

Always good food staff are friendly and helpful atmosphere a bit noisy but we did sit at the children's end as it was very busy!

Most of the food was ok all enjoyed ,but we had a full monty mix grill and I was very disappointed with the meat, the chicken breat was more like 2 scolops in size and shape, the gammon was like inch wide, 4inch long, the steak was cooked correct but was more like a cut off piece, for me very disappointing, didn't say anything at the time as didn't want to spoil it for family

We had curry, so out comes the onion bargies that were cremated, asked for new ones this time they were mushy went to have a bite and they were extremely hot. How they come out, they must have been on a pre-cooked pile in the kitchen and all they did was microwave them. So if you want cooking lime this ask for the micro chief because he can't cook. They've lost my custom

One of our favourites, visited recently for my daughters birthday, food was plentiful, served quickly and very cheap, fantastic desert as well the horseshoe doughnut shared with my daughter , service was as always quick and friendly, outstanding place

Nice spot in Penarth Marina. Nice beer garden to sit in in the sun. We stopped here whilst walking the Bay trail in Cardiff. The Menu had a lot of different choices, if much the same as many other chain menus. I don't know who was chef at 6.30pm 16/08/19 but they can not do the job. Food was awful. Everything I had was chewy. The steak had a texture I can only imagine was like chewing tarmac ! It really was an odd texture. Rubbery chewy with a grainy, tough texture. I wouldn't order the steak if I went here again. I have given 2 stars because of nice position, beer garden, menu and they serve Coke not Pepsi.

This is a cheap as chips child friendly pub but I have to say the service from the staff is absolutely spot on. You get better service and acknowledgement at the Oyster Catcher than you get at many more expensive restaurants in Cardiff. What a great team!

Friendly staff and great service

Unfortunately after entering the building at 20:50 I was told there was no food and they were shutting the kitchen. There was no signage to say when the end of food service was, even on the app this was not expressed, that food service closes at the designated time. So due to this I have had to rate as 1 star across the board.

Had an amazing time for my hen party !! Placed us in a discreet corner and the staff were amazing!! Keanan, you are a legend for wearing our team bride sash !! We were warned about waiting times as you were absolutely heaving !! This however didn’t affect the quality of the food. Amazing as always !

Typical chain restaurant food was ok but its a big pub with large outside seating it wasn’t particularly busy but we had to wait 40 min for starters then after they cleared our table another 35 until the main arrived and that was only after an enquiry at the bar. Was a nice setting by the boats though so lucky it was sunny
