In Barry for the weekend we popped into The Ship in the afternoon to warm up and grab a brew. It was lovely and warm inside, especially considering this is such a large place. Comfortable, very clean and well presented it made a nice change from the 'spoons' we had been in earlier. Upon checking out the choiceable menu and the very reasonable prices we decided to return that night for dinner around 7pm. The place was very very quiet! This didn't bother us as we had the pick of the tables and opted for a snug booth. The booth had a built in TV which we believe shows CBBC, a great idea if you're visiting with kids. We were served by a lady called Micky who helped me choose what to have. The Lamb Keema stack was a good choice and very nice and priced at just £11 (Saturday deal) couldn't be faulted. My partner had Chicken Tikka which she enjoyed - before starting on Cocktails which The Ship has a good choice of. Throughout the visit service was good and staff were friendly. We stayed until closing and will definitely return if we are back in the area. Highly recommended. +++++

It really is the best burger deal in town. Would recommend the home run burger (double stack!) very filling, fresh cooked crispy chips and onion rings. Beautiful. Myself and the wife come a couple times a month for the burgers alone. The pubs a good atmosphere, very clean and the bar staff (Louis) annd floor staff are friendly polite and fast. The chef (Winston) fair play mate you’ve nailed those burgers. Keep it up everyone. See you next Friday probably haha 10/10. Ross and Helen

Excellent from start to finish. Booked a table online and though it appeared quiet we noticed it’s a large pub with lots of tables eating. We saw a small queue at the bar so decided to use the Greene king app. Ordered from our table didn’t have to move!! 😍 drinks arrived within 5 minutes and the food shortly after 😍. Piping hot and cooked to perfection service was attentive and professional. Last time we came was a few years ago and must say what a turnaround night and day compared to our last visit! Can’t wait to come back thank you all

The Ship Pub is hands down one of the best family-friendly spots we’ve visited! It’s the perfect place to bring the kids, with a fantastic play park out the back to keep them entertained while we enjoyed some top-notch food. What really made our visit stand out, though, was Micky. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel so welcome, going above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Her energy, friendliness, and genuine care for making our experience enjoyable were amazing. Micky didn’t miss a beat—whether it was checking in on the kids or making sure we had everything we needed, she absolutely nailed it. And let’s not forget the food—Chef Lee did an incredible job! full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. It’s rare to find a place where both the service and food are this good. We’ll definitely be coming back soon! Thank you to Micky, Chef Lee, and the whole team for such a fantastic experience!

Excellent experience great food

Good fast pub food. Nice friendly staff. Football on most midweek evening and daytime on weekends. Also a great play area for the kids.

Birthday gathering for 7. Table reserved as per booking. Pleasant vibe although was quiet. Food was gr8 with no long waits. Staff were friendly and had loads of energy. Big shout out to Lewis and Mikey ( hope I remembered their names right) Who were engaging and funny. All our party thoroughly enjoyed the time of approx 2 hrs there. Thanks to all the staff who were a credit to the Ship

Decent pub to visit as it was on Gavin and Stacey. Decent food, shame they stopped serving at 19.30 as they had run out of salad. Don’t expect a full pint either, there’s more head than I could ever dream of.

On arrival it was freezing. Had to eat out food quickly so it didn't go cold. Food was OK and the staff were friendly.

First time using ship hotel but will now be a frequent customer. Mickey could not have done more for us and Lee cooked us all a delicious meal . Would definitely recommend to anyone. A really enjoyable experience thank you Mickey xx

Cheap that's probably the best thing to say about this place. The food was ok but we were struggling to figure out why it was empty on a Friday afternoon. Place could do with some TLC

Went for lunch and noticed it was under new management. The food and service were excellent.

Came by today with the family for a bite to eat and I have to say both the food and service was excellent, we’re local so we will be returning in the near future.

Great value. Had Mixit meal just £8.50 Skillet with salmon on a bed of onions and peppers with jacket potato,big salad and barbecue sauce. Delicious. Perfect service.

Under new management. Came today for food and a few drinks. The new manager Lee is friendly and can't do enough for you. Food was excellent. 3 cask ales on, first time since 2017. Place is turning around.

Ordered on the app for ease and speed and boy, was it quick in total 30 minutes from start to finish and enough time to do a review better mention the staff Cal my drink & micky served my food and checked back to see if all was OK. When we went there was a singer in the adjacent bar he was very good.

Went for sport but only one channel at a time so no multiple games. Staff didn't care so wouldn't recommend for sports.

Me and my two kids initially went in to rob the place but after two cracking burgers , strawberry’s and waffles and the hospitality of Wendy and Emily we decided to just shoot our nerf guns out in the play area . Thanks all . We will return ! Billy(5) still said he’s going to come back and rob the place. So watch out !!!! I’ll just be back for the Stella .

Ordered a roast dinner with a beer. Then I was told they don't have that beer here (but it's on their menu) 🤦🏻‍♂️ Then they told me they didn't have any Yorkshire puddings left for the roast dinner. 🤷🏻‍♂️ ONE HOUR later, we were served the dinner 😡 and it didn't seem especially busy. The food was good though, but the wait times aren't worth it. The building is quite run down and in desperate need of a refurb, wallpaper hanging off all over the place and the bathrooms were appalling. I'd give it a miss if I were you.

Mickey was a absolute star and is a lovely lady, chose to come here with the family and was well worth it because of her, we had some missing scampi but mickey sorted it out straight away and she was lovely about it 10/10 if mickey is serving you 7/10 if not.

I ate here today, i think there was some technical issues ordering food using the app/online as i was charged 2 times… however the staff at the bar were helpful in reassuring me that one of the payments will go back into my account by tomorrow. Loses 2 stars however as the steak i ordered, I asked for medium rare which later arrived near well done and my friends food arrived 20+ minutes after I finished mine.

Often go there for a meal. Always lovely food great service. Prices are good for the meals. See you again soon

Great visit. Food was good. Service was great. Michelle was our server and she was so lovely.

Whilst I appreciate that that the food is reasonably priced I feel there's a lot of room for improvement. The people serving us were very kind and professional however we weren't happy with the food. My burger was burnt, onions definitely weren't sautéed (menu said it would be), my friends' steaks were well done as opposed to medium-rare. Neither one of us have actually enjoyed our food which is a real shame. Also no one came to check if everything was OK with the food and we waited quite a long time before being served. I'm only giving feedback because I feel it's important for management to realise they need to improve the service otherwise people will stop coming.

It's a real gamble if the food is ok or poor quality. I go every month or so and the quality varies wildly.

There was a group of 14 of us, they sorted us quickly & efficiently and delicious food came out after a short time

Booked a table last Friday night, waited at the bar for 15 minutes before getting served, just getting ignored by the bar staff, ordered food eventually the food was poor standard and not edible, asked the staff to box it up so I could take it home for my dog. Will highly recommend no one should spend good money in this place, disgusting

Great location by the sea! Trying different parts of the menu, the Quadzilla burger is a favourite, followed by the steak and ale pie and the full Monty mix grill, along with a great selection of drinks on draft, and plenty of TV’s to watch the Sports.

Extremely good value for your money and especially with their deals( please be aware that you can’t use Bluelight discount card on the deals). Will return again and again. Very friendly staff and can’t help you enough.

Came for fathers day and the Sunday lunch smelt lovely, ordered it and honestly I won't be coming again! Was not nice at all! Quite disappointed.

Food was great, and arrived in a timely manner. Order d a wide variety of dishes that satisfied everyone at the table. And have gotten the fish (sea bass and salmon) twice and have not been disappointed either time. Only critique I would give is having items out on display that are not available for sale at the till. Overall great experience!

Mixed grill was ok dessert was massive. Ideal location for the beach and train station too. Could do with new chairs and cleaner tables though

Been twice and had a nice time. Very friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable prices on food and drink and good quality food. It's rare I eat out these days and feel satisfied. Many pubs and restaurants have gone downhill. Will be visiting again. Decent sized car park also.

Food came out quickly and service was great. Table was reserved and change made to number of guests without fuss. Only 2 front of house staff very busy and they coped very well. Latte was forgotten was was resolved quickly without fuss. Will visit again

The food didn't have what it said on the menu the burger meal had things missing and the horse shoe dessert was a let down as it shows it with strawberry and they wasn't with it so a let down

We had meals my gammon was not cooked it was raw inside. And my neighbour had wraps which is salad was black and gone off
