Very disappointing experience overall… Worst was the food we ordered, my wife and I had the halloumi cheese and red peppers in white baguettes… The rolls were hard and stale plus the halloumi was frozen wrapped in bread crumbs tasting nothing like the real cheese and the peppers were so small they were almost none exsistant…

I would avoid bad food and bad attitude. The mushy peas were beyond saving, so when I finally caught the attention of the waitress she raised her eyebrows. A small jug of mushy peas was brought by her but I was left with the other mushy peas in my plate. What is wrong with these places? Unprofessional, rude and I won't be back.

What a very disappointing evening meal. We decided to sit outside to make the most of the lovely evening weather. We were told to order on the QR Code, however, only drinks were available, therefore, I went inside to place our order. I asked if I could order a side of chips where the young lady serving me went to order it on the point of sale. At which point a very rude manager stated "No side orders" The young member of staff questioned her, where she repeated "No side orders" We are talking about chips which were already being served on another meal so why not just put more chips in the fryer!! With no further explanation, the manager walked off. An explanation would be beneficial!! The very unappetising meals were brought out, there was no cutlery, so I asked the waitress for cutlery, whereby, she returned with loose cutlery, no serviettes and dropped the cutlery on an outside table. Where's the hygiene in this? The southern fried chicken burger was so overcooked that the chicken was dry, the roll was inedible as it was so hard and the lettuce brown and limp!! At no point did any member of staff come to check on us. We felt that we were an inconvenience as we had decided to sit outside. If it's too much trouble then state that food is only served inside. This was the worse £33.00 I have ever spent. Do not waste your money or time eating here. Both the service and food was awful in equal measures.

What a terrible experience from start to finish! Firstly we ordered drinks that sat on the bar getting warm for 20min before being served to us! We ordered food which took ages to come 50 min to be exact and it wasn’t busy! Two meals were served then we waited another 10 min for the other two meals to be served. The presentation of the food is awful it comes and doesn’t look at all appealing. Asked for mayo, ketchup and vinegar 10 min later we were still waiting and had to ask again. Southern fried chick burger was almost burnt so overcooked the chicken was dry! Steak and ale pie pastry do hard it was difficult to cut. Very tasteless and gravy like water. Fries were frozen bag fries that looked anemic and were soft and soggy. We weren’t asked at all if we wanted more drinks! Ordered side of 8 onion rings were served 3. Would I eat here again NEVER! Don’t listen to the good reviews this place is terrible both service and food!

This place used to be a nice restaurant, it's not even a nice pub now. The food is average at best. I mean the picture of my child's dinner says it all really! I don't know what looks worse the chicken nuggets that look a week old or the raw carrot that's been hacked up into huge chunks and not even peeled! I'm only marking it as average because it was really clean and the serving staff were fine.

Second visit, came here 4 months ago on a whim for a late afternoon Sunday lunch and it was nicely done though the beef could have been a lot tenderer..suggested it for a family birthday ..the bean burger was good, the cauliflower flan was much enjoyed but the ,3 roast beefs we had let them down by being tough and challenging to cut and eat, the roasties had either been put through the oven more than twice and had to be beaten with sticks before we gave up on them..the odd thing was that the chefs obvious passion with keeping things in the oven didn't extend to the sad uncooked stuffin g balls....shame...can be great ..needs to do better.. ps the desserts were good though the tarte au pomme needs to be cooked more and crisped up, as it was soft and more an apple pancake...

Came to the Aubrey Arms for the Festive Menu as a Group of 11. Before I start I want to say that I've visited the Aubrey Arms once before for food and had no complaints. Unfortunately this visit wasn't a good experience. We had booked, paid a deposit and ordered our food weeks in advance, when we arrived we were told that certain things on our order were not available. The Pate starter came out, there was alot of pate and only 3 small circular pieces of toasted bread so you had ro leave most of the pate. It also came with a garnish of rocket which was limp. The prawn cocktail came in enamel bowls which had seen better days. The Turkey Main was awful, it was processed sliced turkey, 3 half's of hard roast potatoes, one small round piece of stuffing, the carrots were cut in chunks glazed and burnt so they didnt even resembly carrots, red Cabbage which was over cooked a mushy, one pig in blanket which was soft, the sprouts were cooked from frozen as was everything else I suspect. The presentation was awful. The veg was under the sliced turkey and gravy was already on the food when it arrived which was thick and tasteless. A few people paid for extra roasties and they only received an extra 3 half's, and the macaroni cheese was awfully dry. Unfortunately I didnt eat any of my dinner apart from the Dessert which was average but an edible Praline Tart. I will not be going back. Definitely not the festive meal I was expecting as I went home extremely disappointed and hungry.

Called here recently for after works drinks for a colleague who was leaving. I haven’t been before. Seemed like a nice place. Decor and atmosphere was good. We didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food….plenty of car parking. Will definitely call here again to try the food

We have used the Aubrey Arms many times in the past and have never been disappointed - until this visit. We all ordered the Prawn Cocktail as a starter and were amazed to find it served in what appeared to be small enamel pie dishes. It comprised a very large amount of lettuce, a few prawns a dash of Marie Rose sauce and a couple of pieces of bread and butter - none of us managed to finish the lettuce. For the main course we had the Fish and Chips and the Hunters Chicken, The Hunter's chicken was OK, but the Fish and Chips was again disappointing as the fish comprised a large amount of batter and very little fish, It was also overcooked. Whilst accepting that the restaurant was very busy the service was pretty offhand including being handed cutlery to lay our own places. All in all it was a great let down after our previous experience and we won't be returning

A quiet mid week lunch with my elderly mum. We had a warm greeting from the staff and took our orders at the table with excellent service. We both had fish and chips- pipping hot, fresh and the fish was so flakey with the lightest batter . Just perfect. Please don’t drive by this pub - please pop in / it’s worth a visit .

The older male waiter’s attitude was really bad. He stropped over to a draw when asked for two children’s menus and then threw them onto our table, if I’d of had my way I would of had us all leave. I don’t know what his problem was with us we were just three adults and two children out for dinner and still don’t know why he had such an attitude as I only asked him for two kids menus!! He continued giving me and my family stinking looks and made us feel uncomfortable every time he was near us or stood by the bar. Apart from that we had a positive visit, the food is what you expect from this type of restaurant, could do with more custard with your desert as they became very dry half way through and so not eaten. Our young female waitress was lovely, she was very attentive and sort of made up for the rude, stroppy male. The older female staff member was also very nice. I would go again providing you know who wasn’t there.

We have visited twice recently once for Sunday lunch the other time for a midweek meal. The Sunday lunch was the best we have had in the South wakes area and excellent value for money. The midday meal was likewise. The staff are friendly and welcoming and seem to have all the time in the world for you. There are dogvfriendly areas in and outside and the staff made a big fuss of our dog Millie. Access is easy from a large parking area just off the main road. Accessible toilets and baby facilities are clean and well stocked. I cannot reccomend it highly enough. Looking forward to our next visit.

Pleasant efficient staff. Extremely expensive non alcoholic drinks with two bottles of Stella 0.0 amounting to £9.30 for just over a pint. Not inclusive or good for the hospitality sector. This is nearly a 7 times mark up on the £1.50 retail price. Marstons claim this to be competitive, but Cedar Tree Farm has Heineken 0.0 on draught for £4.65
