This little chippie serves the best fish and chips, the tasty fish perfectly cooked in crisp batter with delicious chips. Its an easy detour from the A303, there is parking alongside the Gin Palace opposite - where you can sit outside at a table under cover and enjoy a top class pint with your meal. What more could you ask for? This will be regular stop off for us for certain.

Heidi and Colin are great hosts at the helm of a true village gem! Our third visit for dinner and it was as perfect as the first. The atmosphere is always relaxed and welcoming—just the right mix of cosy and lively. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable straight away. They’ve a great selection or drinks and the pints go down too easily. The food was spot on too with a great variety to suit all palates and different specials every time. Each time we’ve visited, we’ve all opted for something different — and every single dish has been packed with flavour, cooked perfectly, and served in generous portions. Definitely good value for money. Last night we happened to go on quiz night, which was a great laugh. The questions were a good mix—some tricky, some funny—and the host kept things moving nicely. Friendly competition without it feeling too serious. The locals are also stars of the show while the staff were brilliant—friendly, quick to help, and always smiling. Nothing is too much trouble here. You can tell they enjoy what they do, which really adds to the whole experience. All in all, a fantastic spot that keeps us coming back. Highly recommended—whether you’re local or just passing through, it’s well worth a visit.

I had a recommendation for The Oak so we decided to visit for Sunday lunch. It is absolutely charming with heaps of character, lovely gardens with pods for eating inside and the conservatory/ extension. I had the pork and soft crackling that came with roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and yorkshire pudding The gravy came separately and the bowl of spring veg and carrots. My daughter had the beef - the meat was soft and tasty. We had the smaller portions and were so full. The service is impeccable with charming servers. They were busy as many people were lunching there. Compliments to the chefs. Also to the owners who have established a very lovely establishment. We are finding another date to return now that we’ve found this gem.

the southampton arms is the best pub in andover, the bartenders and the regulars create a sense of community in this dry little town, i would recommend it to anyone!!

Good for a lunch stop when walking around town. Food is tasty and well cooked, staff are friendly. The only slight downside is the seating area is a bit crammed but overall seats are comfortable. Place is clean and tidy.

After a slight teething issue at our previous visit and discussing it with management we returned to celebrate my daughters 2nd birthday. We pre booked a table for 5pm and when we arrived we we shown where to sit. Leesha was serving us. She went above and beyond in every way ensuring that we had everything that we needed the whole way through. The chef even popped out of the kitchen to say hello which was appreciated 👏. His food was cooked absolutely phenomenally. It is so nice to have an allergen friendly option for my daughter! Thankyou for such a fab visit, we will be back xx

Absolutely fantastic experience on both our visits to this pub with friends who have coeliac disease. It can often be hard to find places that take dietary needs seriously – but here, they went above and beyond. The staff were kind and knowledgeable, and the chef even made a special trip to buy gluten-free bread rolls so we had more options from the menu. It made such a difference to feel included and safe while enjoying a great meal. They even had gluten-free beer available! We left feeling incredibly well looked after. Highly recommend for anyone looking for coeliac-friendly dining.

Appears to be the place to be late on Satuday as was getting very busy at 11pm when other pubs were closing
