This spot is actually horrendous food isn’t cooked properly terrible service overall just a horrible shop and too pricey for a normal fish and chips And what seemed to be the manager was extremely rude and constant food missing from my order

Went into shop and ordered food which was ready in 10 mins. When I got home with the food an item was missing. Too late to drive back as had served food up at home Phoned shop who said they realised they forgot as soon as I left. No hint of an apology

Delicious fish and chips, I also added a battered sausage and curry sauce. Mmmmm, totally worth it.

Excellent fish and chips very tasty and good portions priced very well. Staff are always friendly and shop very clean.

Until recently I thought the lemon plaice was the best chippy in Andover. But last nights takeaway was so greasy, and they have changed the good quality chicken nuggets for nasty reformed chicken.

This was our first visit tonight and we had haddock and chips. Very tasty, hot and good value. We will return. Highly recommended.

Had a great fish and chips lunch yesterday. The fish was fried to order and as it was small we got 2 extra pieces for an order of 3 pieces. Batter was outstanding, fish excellent, chips plentiful but by the time we got home they were so soggy we did’t eat them. Lovely local find

Just what a Chip Shop should be. Quick, friendly service, really nicely cooked fish chips and fabulous portions. Freely offered OAP prices and the portions were still huge.

The Lemon Plaice is an airy takeaway that serves a standard fish and chip menu (with a few sausages and chicken items thrown in for good measure). A nice piece of haddock was cooked to order, and the chips were good. Staff are not masked (although handling food.) One slight downside is that they only have a very limited range of Coca-Cola group soft drinks. There are no seats or tables.

The girl could hear my order, but i added... can i have a gherkin, and she didnt understand, I said it 6 times before she just walked off and served someone else, the other girl continued my order and i got served, I stood outside for a moment after leaving and the first girl was talking and laughing with another customer about me and my gherkin, talk about feeling like the pi** was taken out of me.

I love this chippy. They serve great fish and chips, scampi and pies plus mushy peas and now take debit cards. They also follow all the Covid guidelines and the staff are always polite and helpful. Fish is freshly cooked and the portion sizes are generous. The batter is gorgeous and crispy. Car parking outside the shop and across the road. Five customers arrived within the five minutes I waited to be served because the food is hot and delicious!

Had delicious fish and chips mushy peas well cooked not greasy daughter loved her chicken nuggets. Reasonably priced will definitely go again soon.

Fish and chips from The Lemon Plaice is our weekly family treat. My husband and daughter love the cod and there’s also a good choice for me as a veggie. The staff are friendly and polite, and the portion sizes are really generous. We’ve tried other chip shops in Andover but they don’t compare to the Lemon Plaice.

After a long day at work I thought I’d grab a bite to eat for myself and the partner. After checking opening times of Lemon Plaice in Andover I figured I’d pop here. Walk in to be told that they’re no longer taking orders for tonight at 20 minutes before closing with only two people waiting. Why advertise a closing time of 9pm if you can’t be bothered to serve customers food until this time? Terrible customer service. I will be sure to use Zenith in future for my chippy urges. In the past the food has always been ok for that of a local chippy but this kind of customer service isn’t up to a suitable standard.

Went in for a chips but cod looked nice and tasted amazing too. Staff was polite and friendly. And can't go wrong with free drink...

Just spent £8.50 on a large cod and chips and a portion of mushy peas. not very good at all. the fish was dry the chips were soggy and the mushy peas were watery. will not bother with the Lemon place again

I hate wasting food and if I ask for a small portion of chips, I expect to receive a small portion; one scoop is enough!The portions at this chip shop are just right. If you ask for a small portion, that is exactly what you will get. If we continue to eat huge portions of chips, we are just going to get fatter and fatter. There is nothing wrong with chips if they are eaten in moderation.The Lemon Plaice serves healthy portions to a discerning clientele; that's why it's always busy.

The fish tasted beautiful so fresh and v tasty chips, you get plenty of them . The chicken nuggets are proper chicken breast absolutely tasty best fish & chips had in ages.. Definitely being come again

Went in today and decided on lunchtime specials of battered sausage And chips along with chips & curry sauce.They portion of chips was in my opinion a child portion, the curry sauce was very bland with only slight hint of curry flavour. We should have said don't bother when seeing the chip portion size but we were hungry. And still hungry after eating it!Will not be going here again in a hurry. Very disappointed as thought this was ment to be a good chip shop.

Quick review- have been a loyal customer for a number of years and we also send guests from our BnB here so have always been pleased with the quality.Pretty poor tonight though - a very thin and dry piece of cod in way too much batter. Disappointing after they usually get it right but it must be visible to the cook/owner when a sub-standard piece is cooked. Time to try somewhere else - shame.

We stopped here for a quick tea, prices not bad seemed busy so we thought it would be good. We was not impressed fish was very greasy. Chicken nuggets seemed to be the off cuts of chicken. Chips ok but they stuck to the paper. Can't understand why the didn't use boxes that they had. Portion size for chips good.

needed a Friday night takeaway and disappointed by another place in town, this was way better batter & patties.

Heard they were good. Rang through an order for 5 people. A time was given for pick up and we arrived ‘on the dot’. Our order was fresh out of the fryer. No waiting. Perfect.

Down in Andover visiting relatives Phoned up and placed our order for 8 and collected half an hour later! The food was amazing fresh and lots of it! Really good and will definitely order from here again 100% best fish and chips I’ve had for ages

The service is on the ball and the fish comes out perfectly every time. The chip portions are large and the overall fish and chips meal is great value for money. The shop is open late for those late night supper trips.

Am a regular customer, however, recently, have had to make a bulk orders, as our works kitchen was undergoing a deep clean. Ordered 18 meals at lunchtime and all was ready on time at 5pm and all named for easy serving. Great service and their fish and chips never fail in quality

We went a few fish n chip places in andover then made it here. Turned out to be great the cod is lovely lightly battered and the chips were beautiful. We go here most weekends and love it.

Not had fish and chips in a very long time and thought when I was leaving town to pop in. I ordered cod and chips which was just of £5 which was for a small. The small as massive so great size. Was very nice for a treat now and again will defo go back

Ordered 2 cod and a large chips (not enough in the portion for 2). Skimpy.. The front Staff seemed uncaring didn't seem to really want to be working there. Got the food home - 5 minute drive and served up stone cold sauce and stone cold mushy peas. Couldn't fart about microwaving allowing the fish and chips to go cold as well

Have always enjoyed the food from here, everything is cooked fresh and not left out for too long. Service is swift and friendly, always clean and tidy inside, the portions can be on the large side but ideal if you want to share your chips!!!

I've been using Zenith at the other end of town but the standard has dropped there. Lemon Plaice hasn't and the fish is really tasty. Cod was much "flatter" than I am used to seeing. The batter is very light so you don't feel like...

It's a standard chip shop service is good always friendly. Always get what you want. Only thing would be that it gets very full very quick and you are waiting outside for you food so people inside can be served.

This is by far the best fish n chips in Andover, the food is fresh cooked to order and the staff are 2 very polite young ladies who certainly have very good customer service skill, defo the best place to go x

Have been using this chippy on a regular basis over a long period of time and have always been pleased. Definitely one of the best fish and chip shops in Andover.

This chippy is a good one. Have had most of whats on offer from the menu, and enjoyed the meal. Food mostly cooked from fresh and always hot. But of course there is the down side. Chip portions are too small and service abit slow from the two blokes cooking. The girls in front are good and helpful.

We've been using Lwmon Plaice for eight years and we've never had a bad experience - or even a mediocre one. The staff are pleasant and efficient, the food is very fresh and the prices are fitting of the experience and quality. We'd never go anywhere else for Fish & Chips. Highly recommended.

Lovely fish and chips the best in town. We have only recently started using this place as our most used shop is not as good as it once was. Very good with allergens as checked all ingredients. Lovely chips not to greasy. Fish is moist batter lovely and crispy. Hubby always has a cheeseburger which he enjoys. Would definitely recommend. Clean and welcoming shop.

Great fish and chips. The Rock salmon fresh and very tasty. Chips were really nice and crispy. Very good value.

Stumbled upon this plaice on my very first visit to andover and I was pleasantly surprised. The portion size was HUGE and the taste was out of this world. Definitely my favourite chippy.

We always use this chip shop out of any of them in Andover. The fish and chips are always good. Good portion sizes and prices comparable to the others. They don't take cards, so remember to take cash! It is takeaway only.

This title went to another one about a mile away for a while. I avoided The Lemon Plaice simply because they don't take cards. But the other place went further and further downhill with portion size and quality so I thought I'd give The Lemon Plaice a try.I won't go anywhere else now. The quality of the food is a million miles from the other popular chippy in Andover. The batter is always golden, light and crispy (unlike the brown concrete at the other place), the chips and fresh. It can get busy with people queuing out the door but it's worth the wait without a doubt

Best in the area by a mile. Great staff and super fresh fish in best batter I have tasted in years. Always a queue as it is so popular - but well worth the wait! Top mushy peas too!!

How do write a review on the best fish and chips this side of Yorkshire. Various selection of items on the take away menu. The fish is cooked without the skin which of course is the preferential way to cook fish in deep fryers. It's all good news at this Chippy. Being a Yorkshireman I have good a good taste for nice fish and chips and here is the place to get them.

Freshest fish in a delicious crisp batter - best chips I have tasted in years. Very friendly and polite staff - and rapid service too considering all is cooked fresh. Always a queue - good sign! Highly recommended-oh-and the curry sauce and mushy peas are fab too!

Although some claim another fish and chip place in Andover is better, I am not so convinced. I've always been delighted by the haddock and chips served here and is my preferred choice.

After a visit to the cinema we popped in here for our supper. I was pleased to see rock on the menu as I had not had it for years. Thoroughly enjoyed my rock and standard chips. I am told that some chip shops now de-bone their rock but mine still had the bone in which did not detract from its lovely taste. The other half had cod which she declared was without skin which is as she prefers it.Highly recommended.

Love this place having found other places hit and miss this has proved consistently good nice flakes of fish golden chips covered in generous salt and vinegar with a side order of mushy peas .Perfect takeaway and what's more I generally find the oap portion generous and enough for me.

Awesome place for some good and fresh cod and chips for 5£ (big enough for 2 people) ! Cheap and great value, very good likely dangerous for addiction! Onion rings for 1£, come on... How could I resist?!

This place gets very busy with the queues all the way out on to the street. Big portions but good quality food too.Love the vegetarian spring roll & the chips from here are lush.Only bad point is some of the staff are a bit offish.

Always impressed with the level of customer service here. They could easily get lazy but they are happy to cook to customers specific requests and are always quick with getting it done. The food is always hot, I find so many take-away places now by the time you've sat down to eat it's cold. Not the case with here.

Best fish and chips in andover! Popped in after work and thought we'd try somewhere new as hadn't been terribly happy with the recent quality of our usual. Fish was super fresh and crispy, chips were just right for us. Very happy customers!

Used this chip shop for years but the last few months the batter on the fish has been soggy,,,even when fresh cooked it looks like its underdone and has sat around for a while..Avoid if you like your batter cooked

I live 10 miles from the nearest takeaway so food doesn't travel well this far, but tonight I got fish and chips for two and only just managed to keep to the speed limit. However, the fish was fabulous, very crispy batter and perfectly white flesh. The chips were golden and crisp and delicious. Well done Lemon Plaice.

Like I said I am a Fish and chip lover and this one is the best in Town - FACT. I have tried them all - even the so called claiming to be "the best in the south" (NOT).This place has it all and will cook fresh fish to order on request.

We treat ourselves to fish and chips once in a while and always go to the Lemon Plaice. The staff are efficient and polite and the food is cooked fresh by the guys at the back. There is always a shop full of customers so that must speak for itself. Best in town as far as we are concerned:-)

I moved to Andover in April 2014 and we (family of four,all adults) used The Lemon Plaice at least once every weekend, the chips were lovely,hot and cooked thoroughly. Unfortunately they have changed the potato's/oil they use, and then that's were it all went down hill.The chips went from being lovely & hot to being bland and under cooked. Food portions were appropriate for the price however due to the change of the potato's/oil they use they taste extremely bland,soggy and often under cooked. We no longer visit this Fish & Chip shop which used to be our regular. Its a real shame as their chicken burgers were fresh and lovely!

While waiting for food to be cooked one of the female servers spent at least 5 minutes playing with her hair, picked the inside of her ear a few times, then proceeded to put the same hand into a bag before filling said bag with chips. Asked if we wanted S&V which we did, got home nothing on either.

Always had great food from here. Chips are cooked perfectly and definitely one of the best chip shops in town. Worth a visit!

Without a doubt the best Fish and Chip shop in Andover. Have never had a bad piece of Fish and the chips are always freshly cooked. Nice that they have special rates for O.A.P.'s. Only downside is that because they are so busy you have to wait and the queue is often outside the door but well worth the wait.

I'm surprised at the other review... The chips are always gorgeous, and the fact they cook rock and cod roe to order is fantastic. I don't use any other chippy when I'm in town.

Hungry for battered sausage, chips & curry sauce, but disappointed to get them home and find that instead of nice crisp batter, it was soggy and slid off the sausage. Chips were ok, but nothing special and curry sauce had the consistency of being watered down. Previous suppers were ok, but last Saturday evening was a let down and it was hardly busy. Girls always pleasant, but fryer needs to watch quality control. Cost £5.80. Probably not chance it again and try one a bit further a field. Such a shame.
