The Cricketers Longparish (6) Car park busy and pretty small. Good pub atmosphere friendly endearing staff. Quick drinks order and delivery. Food took over 30 min to arrive. Potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding was good. Gravy good. Lamb good. Veg a bit uninspired as just boiled. Mint sauce tasted, like it had been opened for a while. No gluten free gravy or Yorkshire. Waited for parts of our drinks order, a steak knife (never came), mint sauce. They did accommodate a meat only meal which was a good 8. The bar was quite busy but it appeared a bit disorganised. At no point did we know how much the meal was going to cost us… and everything we asked for we had to ask again…. Howzat!

We popped in during our New Year's Eve ramble 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️around Longparish to enjoy a delicious pint. 🍻 Very friendly staff and excellent real ale. 🫠 Three were 3 ales on tap, two of which rotate regularly. An original rotary phone is on the bar - and when a call comes in, it rings (and brings back memories of yesteryear)! ☎️ There is a cosy bar area and many tables - of various sizes - for dining. 🍽 A full menu is on offer plus specials, including locally sourced trout and game, though we didn't have any today - we will come back to savour them! 🎣🦌 Pizza in the garden starts in April, which we also intend to make visits for. 🍕

Being a Monday not every pub is open but we made our way to the Cricketers which we knew opened 7 days a week. Especially as when we visited recently we really enjoyed their Sunday lunch. We were going to have just a sandwich but when we saw the lunch menu we decided to opt for that. With such an exciting menu including venison, pheasant, moules and scallops, what’s not to like, especially as the price was so reasonable. We were not disappointed. The portions were just right for lunch and the food was really tasty. This really is a lovely pub which has managed to keep the balance between being a traditional pub but also serving great food. Long may it continue.

Went for a night out with partner, pub was quiet on Friday evening. Ordered a prawn cocktail, Two little gem leaves with a smattering of small prawns with a dollop of rose Marie sauce not the bloody Mary sauce proffered on the menu. Had the muntjac steak as main and it was so salty it burnt my tongue on the first bite. Disgusting. Returned it and offered a ribeye steak in exchange When that arrived requested rare was cold in the middle again returned and removed from the bill. Partners moule marianaire was passable. Not somewhere I will be returning to in any hurry. Not a great atmosphere or.welcome

After a long ride with the motorcycles, stopped for services on A303. That’s when one of the guys told us to go to a pub nearby and have some food. Long story short, we got here to find out that they will only serve pizza at that time (around 5:30 pm). The fact that they do it on this garden oven is a nice touch to this lovely pub. The pizza is custom, you choose the ingredients from a list that could use a few more types of cheese, if I’m being honest 😉 All in one, the place was a great location for a break during our journey.

I’ve been wanting to try a meal at the Cricketers for a long time and I’m glad we did eventually. Especially as it might well be my local in the near future. It’s a charming looking building from the outside, in this attractive village and inside the rooms are equally attractive, with individual areas offering an intimate feel. I’m also happy to see that there is a bar area where folk can come in and have just a social drink without being forced to eat a 3 course meal. All the young staff were friendly, welcoming, professional and polite. It was a Sunday so we all chose the roast. My lamb was a good sized portion and cooked really well. The sweets were also very well presented and tasty. And despite living in these days of greed-flation the bill was very reasonable. So we will definitely be back to try from their evening meal menu which looks very interesting. Could anything be improved? Well one of our party is a vegan and there was only one main meal and no starters nor desserts that catered for her. Fair enough, as I can imagine that only a few years ago a village like Longparish would have thought veganism a lynching matter. But times are changing and if there is a vegan in a large party then if there is nothing that they can eat it might put the whole party off booking. But as a carnivore I’ll certainly be back.

I’ve been to the Cricketers Inn a few times in the last 5 years and it’s been fantastic. After today, I won’t be going again. It was busy and they had a big table in however they didn’t arrive until around 30 minutes after us. There was no mention of the big table when I booked the night before or when we arrived. Not a problem but it’s quite common to mention it to manage expectations. Having both worked in restaurants and pubs before, we completely understood the pressure this put on the front team and were happy to wait. 50 minutes after ordering, our Roast Beef Dinners arrived but they were terrible. I wish I had taken a photo but it turned my stomach. My friends beef was ok but mine was very rare and incredibly sinewy. The Yorkshire puddings hadn’t risen and were lumps of solid batter; when we bit in to them, they were frozen in the middle! The potatoes were cooked but far from being a crispy roast potato. There were a few items on the plate that were hot but the rest was ice cold. My friend went and had a quiet word with the waitress who offered to speak to the kitchen or replace the meal but unfortunately it was all so unappetising we just asked for them to be taken back. I think we made the right decision as the couple next to us told us that they felt sick after eating their meal as it was badly cooked. The waitress arranged for the Manager/Landlady (?) to remove the cost from the invoice which she did (although so noisily that we could hear the conversation from our table). We paid the £7.60 bill for our two pints of fizzy and as we were walking away, the Manager/Landlady called after us that she was sorry we didn’t enjoy our meal. Sometimes things go wrong, I understand that but I felt like the whole thing could have been dealt with so much better by whoever was in charge.

We had a Father's Day lunch. Food was delicious, choice of beer was fantastic and the service was friendly. We were well looked after, including our dog. We had the tapas, camembert, roast lamb and a steak and it was all amazing. Only reason it's not a 5 star review is because there were quite a few things missing from the menu (it didn't affect our choices, but might be an issue for others) and we had a little bit of a wait for food. It was Father's Day, and so it was busy. We didn't mind, but others might.

Another enjoyable Saturday lunch, in a historic pub, that has retained its traditional ambiance Pies from the specials board are always a treat. Short crust pastry and a pie packed with contents. Mash and peas fill up the plate, rather than a drizzle of pretentious sauce. This is proper food. Todays chicken and mushroom was as good as ever, washed down with a couple of pints of fresh Palmers Copper Ale. Sticky toffee pudding completed the meal, and it was lovely so my wife ate most of mine. The pub is dog friendly and features cricket memorabilia of the local cricket club, founded in 1878 and still going strong. Top tip….book in advance to reserve a table.

First visit to the Cricketers Inn. We popped in for lunch this afternoon having booked a table for 4. Atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff were great. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, especially the golden crispy batter on the fish & chips! My partner also enjoyed the King Scallops too. Will definitely return!

As local's pubs go, this is right up there with the best. They have a good selection of beers and wines, and the food is classy without being pretentious. There us a very welcoming atmosphere, where people actually speak to you when you arrive. There's a nice garden which is dog and children friendly. ( that's a locally sourced venison burger.😋)

We always have a warm welcome at The Cricketers when we drop in on our cycle rides for coffee and Pauline's cake.

Lovely pub in a picturesque village. Very well kept Dark Star Hophead and fantastic fish n chips. Sat out in the garden on a sunny Saturday afternoon, could've stayed all day! Friendly, top draw staff - highly recommended....... ....we'll be back.......

Amazing menu - fresh whole fish (baked whole trout with chilli and soy for £18) and a venison burger for <£15, buttered new potatoes, and fresh salad, plus a range of ales on tap, local charcuterie, homemade pies and puds - definitely a cut above most gastropubs. Lovely characterful interior with furnishing and fireplace, and super-lovely staff. Despite being nice and busy, service and speed of food was on point.Beautiful garden and village location, plenty of parking.

Awful slow service every time I have visited (maybe 5 times in the past 2 years), the food is good which is why I have been back however I booked here for a Christmas meal and our order was never put through. After 1.15 hours I queried where are food was to be told the server did not put it through the system. I was advised the manager will be over to speak to us but never turned up, we then had to ask another 3 times if our food was coming, we arrived at 7.15pm and our food arrived at 9pm. Staff at the bar were more bothered about their conversation than helping our situation which normal here. Feedback is apparently given to staff but each time I go the service is terrible, I will also try to support local business and give a lot of chances as due to the climate I feel this is important however I wont be visiting or recommending anymore. My mother in law also attended this week and said how poor the food was and the service was again awful. I'd recommend actually speaking with the manager, if she had come over, apologised, offered something to tide us over we wouldn't have thought anything of it. At least the mishap was trying to be rectified but nothing, just ignored us. Real shame.

We came for a Sunday Roast and it was divine. Despite being very busy inside the food came and quickly and was piping hot. The roast was well balanced with appropriate portions of each element. The mean was amazing though, with our table getting a variety I couldn’t recommend one more than the other as they were all so good. The gravy was thick and rich and happy to offer more when asked (not necessarily needed however). The roast dinner was very reasonably priced and the staff were super friendly and nice as well. We arrived having not booked and the staff were incredibly accommodating but when coming again I would recommend booking before hand.
