Lovely little garden to sit and drink tea or enjoy a light bite during warm weather. The tea room itself is a pleasant historic building. The cake and scone that we had were very adequate. Service very slow however and the young people serving needed direction.

We were keen to get back to the Tudor Tea Room as our last visit before lockdown was excellent. Sadly we were very disappointed. The sandwiches were thick bread and a filling of meat and pickle, with no added extras like a lettuce leaf or a tomato which would have helped combat the dryness of the bread. The sandwiches looked incongruous against the tiny tea cups and teapot laid out alongside. Together with the price for such a woeful meal I can only say never again.

We stopped for refreshments yesterday, having visited previously. Most people were sitting outside but we decided to sit in as it wasn't busy and we didn't want to roast in the afternoon sun. Besides, it's just outside Kings John's House and Heritage site and has some interesting history and artefacts, as you might expect, so adds to the atmosphere. The service, given they admitted to being very short staffed on Saturday, was very friendly and efficient. My husband had the afternoon tea option of scones with jam, cream and a pot of tea. Very reasonably priced. He declared that the scone was one of the best and freshest he had ever tasted. They bake their own on the premises. If you fancy a nice, quaint little diversion tucked away within a gorgeous garden, you must visit!

A Great two handed Rose covered Teapot, and Finger-up cups. Nobby sugar and creamy milk. Buttered Eggs and smoked salmon with a spoonful of 5-a-day, and oatmeal B&B, followed by Orange Sponge cake. but no Bread & butter Puddin' left. I shall have to return when it is not raining. Waited so long for service we had to find someone. Then told we probably couldn't have breakfast as it was 11.30am and they'd stopped serving (it was 11.15am). We told the waitress it was 11.15 and she begrudgingly took the order. Coffee slammed down on the table with all the finesse of an angry trucker. Then another couple came in (it's still before 11.30) and got turned away. Next thing the waitress is in tears because the supervisor has presumably torn her off a strip for turning customers away.Don't expect any choice of coffee. It's cheap tasting hotel grade percolator style, Cappuccinos are instant. And cobwebs all over the windowsill next to where I was sitting as well. This is not a good advert for our town. If you are a tourist, forgo this place and visit one of the many excellent independent coffee shops around town. They may not have the "old world charm" but you will get modern choice and customer service,.

They do a selection of light meals and cakes, which are homemade. If you like an old style tea rooms with good friendly service, then this is for you. The tea room is in a Tudor House. We travelled to Romsey by bus, for a few hours out on a lovely sunny day. we had visited the tea rooms before and it is in a very attractive historical setting, with outside tables available, as well as inside the building. On the day we visited this time, it was very hot (31/7/18) and the stable type door was half open to allow the breeze, what there was of it, to cool the inside of the tearooms. Unfortunately this also invited extra flies and wasps to enter. The cups and saucers are laid out on the tables ready for use, and flies were alighting on cup rims. The cups would be best left upside down on the saucers. The sugar bowl had an insect of some sort attached to a sugar lump, it was dead. The sugar bowls would benefit from nets over them. the tearoom was not overly busy, and the staff are very friendly but the service was very slow. we did tell the manageress/supervisor at the time and she seemed horrified, I am sure this was a once only situation, but it did blight our lunch out. We ate ham omelettes, and they were delicious.

As we were visiting King John House on 28/6/2016, my friends and I decided to get a bite to eat at Miss Moody's Tearooms. As we walked in there was one other table occupied, so we sat at an empty table. The two staff in the room continued to chat between themselves, and it was fully five minutes before we were acknowledged. When the lady came to take our order, she wrote down our specific requirements. 1. Scrambled egg on white toast - this arrived on toasted brown bread. 2. Brie, bacon and cranberry sandwich, which my companion specified NO BUTTER several times. - this arrived with butter, and was returned. 3. Baked beans on brown toast, and as a vegan (specified ) NO BUTTER. - as my companion's had butter on I reiterated that I had requested no butter on mine before it arrived. Oops! I'll have to get that changed, was the reply. It arrived with no butter, but on white toast. 3 orders taken - 3 orders served wrong. To add to this, one of my companions observed the waiter drop a dessert fork on the floor, then pick it up, replace it on the plate, and continue to serve it to the customer who had ordered it. We would not consider using this establishment again if we visit Romsey in the future.

Made to feel welcome, and arrived in time for lunch even though it was 2.10pm (last lunch order 2.30pm). I had a "special": scrambled egg and smoked salmon on toast, and piece of chocolate cake. All food looked nice and as if it was freshly prepared. Didn't take long to arrive either. The cake was spongy and icing wasn't too sickly - it was just right in my opinion. Would go back and recommend. Added bonus is the lovely garden, and there are seats outside so you can enjoy it all the more. Very nice, thank you.

I feel apprehensive putting in a review of this charming award-winning little tea room because I am sure it will get swamped with visitors and I shall never be able to get a table again! This is a really charming little tea house that is attached to what was a timber-framed medieval house during the Tudor period and parts of it are reputed to be an even older 13th Century hunting lodge of King John. Entrance to the tea room is free although a very good value ticketed visit to the attached museum is well worth it.The small tables are covered with hand embroidered floral table cloths edged with crochet lace. All teacups and crockery are a delightful mixture of old fashioned bone-china. The teapots are also a variety of unique pieces and the tea-cosies are all hand-knitted floral bouquets! The tea ladies are warm and cheery and serve up traditional clotted cream teas, cakes, sandwiches, soups and light lunches that all taste home made. Teas offered are English Breakfast, Earl Grey and herbal teas. The atmosphere is cosy and intimate and one could spend hours chatting and sipping tea. There is also a small shop selling souvenirs and children's traditional toys. The attached ticketed museum has interesting artefacts and displays from all periods of the building from the 13th century up to Victorian times. There are lots of opportunities for kids to dress up in period costumes and take part in various activities. Kids were involved in making some excellent tiles that have been fired and displayed outside in the garden. There is seating outside in the small garden which is planted with a variety of flowers and the garden continues down to the little stream at the bottom of the garden. From parts of the garden there are views of the Romsey Abbey which is also worth visiting. One thing is that the tearoom accepts cash or cheques but not credit or debit cards so that is just as well as it retains it's old worldly atmosphere.
